Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age 96. She was the longest living monarch in history. At 6.30pm her death was confirmed. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said:
‘The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow’.
Her son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, is now King. He will address the shocked nation imminently, as the world grieves Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
Queen Elizabeth’s children, and Prince William and Prince Harry, had rushed to her bedside at Balmoral after doctors became ‘concerned’ for her health. Hours later she died, surrounded by her family.
The Queen’s death will see Britain and her Commonwealth realms enter into a ten-day period of mourning as millions of her subjects in the UK and abroad come to terms with her passing. And as her son accedes to the throne, there will also be a celebration of her historic 70-year reign that saw her reach her Platinum Jubilee this year – a landmark unlikely to be reached again by a British monarch.
The Queen’s passing came more than a year after that of her beloved husband Philip, her ‘strength and guide’, who died aged 99 in April 2021. Since his funeral, where she poignantly sat alone because of lockdown restrictions, her own health faltered, and she was forced to miss an increasing number of events mainly due to ‘mobility problems’ and tiredness.
But she was well enough to meet with Boris Johnson at Balmoral to accept his resignation, before asking the 15th Prime Minister of her reign, Liz Truss, to form a Government.
Her Majesty, who stood with the support of a stick and smiled as she greeted Ms Truss in front of a roaring fire, had not been seen in public for two months. It would be her final picture.
I wish no ill on the person. Rest in peace.
But a monarchy is a relic that’s no more worth celebrating than any other form of totalitarian state.
It is not the monarchy nor the “monarch” but the person herself, that we celebrate.
The British monarchy has no power, so it is not a totalitarian state. Their monarchy plays a role as both a stabilizing influence while politicians come and go, and as ambassadors to other countries and their leaders. I would think twice (and I’m sure the majority of Brits would agree) before throwing out their monarchy.
I am not suggesting that the USA should have a monarchy, however!
Hollyweird is our monarchy LOL
REST IN PEACE ELIZABETH……….
She wore the jewels.
The jewels didn’t wear her.
And now, the vulgar globalist, King Charles. May the Lord have mercy on the world.
It was just reported that King Charles said that mum would have lived to 97 if it were not for climate change.
Thank God Prince Harry is 6th in line to become King. On second thought, they better hire a lot of food tasters at Buckingham Palace with the Duchess Meghan Markle running around the place.
Meghan is TOAST. Her antics contributed a lot of stress to the Queen in her last 2-3 years.
Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth.
You were a great leader.
A classy Lady that cared about and Loved her subjects. Too bad she could not keep her family in line to maintain the high standards she set.
Being into history I don’t think about her as the old woman shown above. I think of her as young lady with her father, staying at the Palace during the Blitz and accompanying him as they visited the pilots that were fighting the Battle of Britian. Elizibeth was brought up in trying times, times that were tough even for the Royals, and it was her Father and Mother’s actions during those tough times that built the foundation of what she was to become.
I was so upset when I heard the Queen had died, then I found out Elton John was still alive.
Kieth Richards was talking about when he used to baby sit her……
Now that is funny!
Don’t know what all the fuss is about… Queen’s Freddie Mercury died in 1991!
But he got out an album again anyway in ’95.
A classy lady, may she Rest In Peace. I hope her descendants prove themselves to be worthy successors.
I have total confidence that the won’t. Charles is an idiot!
William and Kate will be up to her standards.
Both are lefties. Charles is a nutcase.
Charles may be the only “world leader” who might be dumber than Joe Brandon. The Brits are in for some “interesting times”.
You being too too nice
Kate has and I think will. William? Not so sure.
Very uncomfortable with Charles and so are many of the British citizens.
Sadly, your hope is Ill founded.
Isn’t that like hoping Chelsea Clinton votes Republican?
Annus Horribilis!
Harry was not at her bedside. The announcement of her death was made while he was in the air and had not yet touched down in Scotland. The royals did not wait for his arrival to make the announcement, either.
Somewhere in all this I read he is writing a tell-all book. Couldn’t pay me to read it.
Let him. And that trollip Me-Gain. Now the dirt on how Me-gain bullied her palace stff so much that they quit in tears, will come out.
You guys have now idea what a vile person Megain was . She wasa yacht girl on Epsteins yacht (literally for hire) There are pics of her on the net topless and doing oral sex on a guy.
She handed out bags of marijuana in the Bahamas at her wedding to Trevor Engleston (fool he was to havve married the trollip)
She had an affair with the Canadian Chef Cory who she shacked up with in Canada. Then she slept with Harry when he flew to Toronto to see her WHLE SHE WAS LIVING with Cory.
Shes a very very nasty vile person.
She svengalied Harry dumb schmuck that he was and is.
What Harry and his wife did on national TV to his family was sick. Most of what they said I do believe were big blown exaggerations and/or lies
From what seems to be a nice, tough lady to a complete idiot who wouldn’t know truth or reality if he tripped over it.
Well, and this is awful — but my very first thought was — HOW will Meghen exploit this?
God Save The Queen.
She was a gracious woman. Publicly.
And, honestly — we have no idea beyond the public persona.
King Charles?
Lord, help us.
People are paying their tribute to Queen Elizabeth from all over the world on the Condolence page via the below link.
She touched so many lives. Unbelievable legacy.
You can leave a tribute.

The last of the greatest generation.
King Charles will be the UK Biden.
King Charles has no power to do much.
I was hoping the Queen would out live him.
Neither does Biden!🤣
Oh, I think he might be dumber than even that… but how much damage he can do depends on Parliament.
Or worse if they can be a worse.
Don’t know why, but the Beatles song “Her Majesty” just came to mind. I wonder if she ever heard it, and what she thought about it. I mean I thought it was just a cute little “tribute” that was totally harmless, no disrespect at all IMO. (No, I’m not gonna post the song here, not the right time or place. But in a few days in the open thread?… probably yeah. 😉 )
London Bridge has fallen down. My fair lady.
End of an Era.
Hopefully, this incredible woman is experiencing a fabulous welcoming journey and celebration that dwarfs any event she ever experienced on earth.
By all accounts she was a very faithful Christian. She also greatly admired Billy Graham.
1 Lov 2 THE QUEEN
RIP
She was classy and did her duty right to the end.
The Queen may have had bone cancer.
The last 3 years have caused tremendous stress. Watch the video
She suffered severe abuse form 2 separate quarters
David Boies and the Guiffre woman who cooked up a scheme
Guiffre was teenage( over the age of consent) prostitute
Harry and Meghan Markle and their lies and abuse.
Lady C has good connections and often she can say what those really close to the Royals can’t. A lot would say she’s just a gossip writer.
It sounds like she did the start of the video earlier today and was holding it for final news. Then she got updated death was soon, added to it and released it when she got word her majesty had died.
She was the perfect one to slam the four who made Elizabeth’s last years harder.
She was the first that I saw to say the Queen had died. After her video dropped many people said it was premature, since they hadn’t heard it through their channels.
I bet her dogs will miss her horribly. No doubt they will be well cared for, the Queen loved her dogs and horses, gotta appreciate an animal lover.
This might make you feel better. I read, in one of the British newspapers online, that she did not want her corgis to outlive her, that she had stopped breeding them, and that the last one had died in 2018. I thought that was beautiful. She was selfless to the end.
This is easily internet searchable.
Piers Morgan gets it
Not a foot wrong in 70 years!
Non Judgmental.
Never in it for herself.
His tribute to the Queen
Queen Elizabeth II was a GREAT person! God bless 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Any post mortem? What did she die of?
She was in prime health before the injections and her mother who was a heavy drinker, lived to 99.
Unfortunately everyone who is over 70 is presumed to have died of old age.
I personally know one fit 85 year old who got pneumonia, was tested by the hospital and found to have blood clots in her legs, in her brain, and two different cancers suddenly in two separate organs, liver and pancreas. She died in hospital from a stroke. It was certified she died of a stroke, yet these attributes are classic clot shot side effects.
I gathered from Lady C’s cryptic comments that the Queen died of bone cancer.
She had bone cancer
Her mother lived to be 101 and for that reason alone I strongly doubt that she was an alcoholic as you state.
Also: I hardly think that anyone in their mid 90s are in prime health, from pictures taken this summer it seems as she was ill.
The proper suspicion would of course be that the real upper echelons get something else injected than the working masses, to use that expression.
Please don’t let him go to the funeral, or should I say Celebration of Life, another term that has been thrust on us. I cannot imagine biden being able to handle the trip much less dodder around that many people. The Queen’s funeral will be like that of Reagan’s, memorable and done w/taste and dignity.
May she rest in peace.
She was an elegant, gracious woman who led with humility, charm and example. She served her people well.
Now with Charlie and the rest-Lord help us.
.
RIP. Apparently she was a very nice woman who took the role seriously that was given to her by birthright and did it in a manner that made no waves and offended no one.
That said, really hope this news cycle stops soon — on both sides, both the exaggerated admiration and the unwarranted nasties.
Whatever her virtues and skills at being an uncontroversial figurehead who reigned for a notably long time, this woman, who literally owned all of the land in England and through the monarchy most of Great Britain, and considered herself inherently the divine right ruler of the lot of it (also note WEF member), lived a long pleasant and pampered life in which notwithstanding and given her enormous potential power, she actually did incredibly little — bad or good — other than what would be “good for the monarchy”. (Of late that includes letting her Parliament run amuck during Covid and ditto, saying not a word about Trudeau’s tyranny.)
It is nice that she did the PR thing during WWII as member of the female mechanics corps. It is nice that she expressed empathy when bad things happened to little people. It is nice that she had great expertise at getting along with everyone’s heads of state, and constantly attended ceremonial events that huge staffs of others arranged, and had impeccable manners from the time she was a sweet young girl.
But that’s it. Maybe I’m just an ignorant American whose ancestors emigrated from non-Anglo parts of Europe, but I do not see achievement here.
.
Tough but a fair assessment. There were some times in Britain’s history when I believe she should have stuck her neck out, discretion notwithstanding. But still, a nice lady and I felt sad to hear of her death because it is really the end of an age.
She was most notably one of the last of the Greatest Generation.
Well said. Nice lady. I can’t help but think that few people had more power and influence to do great good than Elizabeth II. And she did essentially nothing.
Sorry, don’t agree. Being a steady, comforting, compassionate symbol, especially when your country needs that calming influence is priceless. Look up her address to the nation during the pandemic and her closing line, “We will meet again” taken from a WWII popular song. Still brings a tear to my eye.
This adds to the feeling that the Twilight of the West is upon us. Another pillar of our civilization Has Fallen, even though a symbolic one.
Wonderful Coverage, SD. TY!!!
I have never seen a photo like this!
Grandmum is probably wearing the most expensive set of pearls with a priceless brooch, and little George simply cannot stand the roar of the crowd!!!
He’ll learn, little King!
PS That is Diana’s engagement ring on Katheryn. Diana looked on!
Oops, this is baby Louis!
And he is her great grandson. Prince William is her grandson.
So did my father and uncle. My father was an aircraft mechanic in WW2. My uncle went to fight Rommel in N Africa and was captured and sent to an Italian and then a German POW camp. My second name is Elizabeth-I was named after the Queen
She did her duty right to the end.
RIP QE ll
I’m sure it probably has been posted because I have not read 500 comments yet, but, if you get a chance to see “The Queen” with Helen Mirren, it is an insight into the relationship between Diana and Buckingham Palace after her death.
Mirren won the Academy Award and I believe I read the Queen actually invited her to dinner at the Palace.
I’m not a big fan of the concept of monarchy at all. I believe that the best form of government is to have a constitutional republic without any sort of monarchy as head of state.
I also understand that it isn’t my place as an American to impose my political views on the UK and the commonwealth countries.
Whether or not the UK and the commonwealth countries have a monarch as a head of state is up to each of these countries individually. In fact, many of the commonwealth countries already do not use the monarch as their head of state. India is one of these countries.
With that said, I have no personal animus towards Queen Elizabeth II. I appreciate that she represented the UK and the commonwealth with class and that she stayed out of the public political fray.
With that said, just because the queen was not publicly engaged in politics doesn’t necessarily mean that she wasn’t involved in some political capacity behind the scenes.
The monarchy has a bully pulpit and substantial wealth at hand to use to influence politics even if they are officially a figurehead institution.
Since the queen was so publicly quiet on her political stances, it can be hard for people on the outside to truly gauge what her impact on politics was.
From what I can tell with my limited knowledge on the queen, her political impact was a mixed bag of good and bad.
Charles, on the other hand is very open about his globalist and far left political beliefs. He also lacks the class of his mother. I don’t anticipate that Charles will be a good king at all.
I anticipate that more commonwealth countries will opt out of using the monarch as their figurehead under the reign of Charles. In fact, the UK itself might decide to abolish the monarchy due to Charles.
I suspect that there are many people in the UK and the commonwealth who like me aren’t big fans of the concept of monarchy. Many of these people kept quiet out of respect for Queen Elizabeth II as a person, but now that she is gone it will be easier to speak out against the monarchy as an institution.
So you would prefer President Blair or President May? I’ll stick with the Royals – they were born into something they never asked for. Almost the diametrical opposite of the political class. I was born in England – my family on my Mother’s side arrived at the time of the Norman Conquest, my Father’s side is established as long ago as 1540. I have appreciated Her Majesty’s Service more since she passed than I had. She had no political power and walked a tightrope between Courtiers, appalling Family behaviour and her duty to the Constitution. None who ponder this can offer a name of another who could have done better. Rest in Peace your Majesty and God (please) Save the King.
