Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

You only have to throw the ball once for this dog!
Survival of the fittest.
Be still, and know that I am God.
My wife of almost 55 years gently passed away in her sleep sometime last night. When I work up this morning and prepared to change her absorbent underwear, her legs were stiff and her skin was cold. When I couldn’t find a pulse, I knew she was gone.
Although her decline was gentle, much slower paced than what usually happens, she’d been showing final stage Alzheimer’s symptoms for awhile now. About 10 days or a little more ago she completely lost the ability to stand. Then she stopped eating, didn’t even want water. When she began sleeping 24 hours straight, I knew it was time for help so this past week I’d arranged for home hospice care. One of the hospice nurses told me that my wife was most likely a few days away from death. A good friend, a physician neighbor, agreed with the prediction.
Over the past 3 days I watched the my thick and thin partner, the love of my life, slowly fade away. I prayed that Our Lord would allow her to have a gentle passing, prayed for her to pass in her own bed. The Lord allowed both things to happen.
I’m trying my best not to feel sad about her passing. Having cared for her for almost 20 years, I knew what was eventually coming. And so now it has. I take heart that we were both strong believers and so she is now with Our Lord. Today, when I came home after visiting with a dear friend, I immediately felt how empty our house now feels. She’s no longer here and her absence is keenly felt.
Praying for you Garrison. Remember the beautiful legacy of loving memories she left you.
Thank you, Eva 🙂
My heartfelt prayers for you Garrison. The Lord heard your prayers and gently and peacefully took her home. We all wrap our arms around you and pray for comfort for you. We are all here for you, God Bless You.
🙂 Thanks.
Garrison, 😔 😢 please accept my deepest condolences…
Thanks, Cat. 🙂
God bless you!
She went home now!
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

Very sorry to hear of your loss, Garrison, may God protect you and your dear wife
🙂
I’m very sorry Garrison.I pray that in your mind you may be forever flying kites off a seawall.Bless you and your wonderful beloved of 55 years…
I’ll always have that sweet memory, Casco, because it so perfectly defined her. 🙂
Dear Garrison…
I had no idea you had this cross to bear….and for no less than the past 20 years. I so honor your love and commitment to your wonderful wife.. She was blessed in having you for her life’s companion.
Although she no longer lives with you on Earth, I know she’s safe in the house of Our Lord. She no longer suffers….and she awaits your happy reunion.
Thank you, Ad rem. When she was in the midst of her crisis in ’05 the Lord filled us with His Grace. We both felt it and were healed. I knew then what I was supposed to do and, more importantly, that everything would be alright. And so it was. Our Lord’s Grace is always healing. 🙂
And there…right there, Garrison…in your simple reply is proof so positive of God’s everlasting mercy and grace. Your telling of that moment is a gift to us all. And I thank you for it.🙏
Thank you bet. I think He was just setting things right . . . 🙂
🤗!!!!!!!
She, through you here, has enriched our lives.
Indeed ❣️
🙂
Be at peace and celebrate her life, well lived
🙂
Oh, Garrison. You had been speaking of this. I hope you were prepared as best as could be.
I’m so sorry for your loss, yet I am envious that you and your lovely wife had found such a love that many will never see.
Please focus on the beauty you have experienced, while grieving. Please be grateful for that which you have been granted, as it may help in your journey.
Many of us here will be praying for your strength. May your lovely bride find peace in the arms of Our Lord.
Love that rests on trust and loyalty will always endure. We had that. 🙂

So sorry, I hope you see her in heaven.
🙂
Mr. Hall, so very sorry to see your ‘unknowing’ has, so very soon, become your ‘known’. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Holy One of Israel, is on His heavenly throne to receive your beautiful wife’s spirit, and to hear all your prayers, requests, and meet all your needs in the days, weeks and months ahead. May He bring you Shalom that passes all understanding.
My deepest, sincerest, and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family.
🙂
I pray that our Lord and Savior has welcomed your wife into His loving arms forever.
🙂
So sorry for your loss….
🙂
Garrison, I am so sorry for your loss., and I will be praying for you and your family. No words can help, but I hope all your friends here can ease just a little of your burden. I am grateful that you have shared your love story here a few times, and bits of your life. It’s a good thing for people to witness a true love story, a real life journey of for better or worse, …in sickness and in health.
Thank you, Menagerie. 🙂
Garrison,
I am so sorry for your loss.
And that she passed in her sleep….a blessing I pray that I will be allowed, when he decides to call me home.
Her love will always remain with you.
As will the love of our Lord.
Yes. Thank you. 🙂
My deepest sympathy Garrison. Words always fail, are insufficient at such times.

I’ve heard it said that a man never forgets his first love. Surely that defines you and your 55-year love. Blessings to you this day and every day. Great love story in these days of throw-away marriages. I pray that the Holy Ghost and your memories will give you comfort.
🙂
Allow the sadness to wash over you. You loved deeply and even though this is a temporary, earthly separation, it is a loss.
“Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted”
Be kind to yourself Garrison. I believe your sweetheart would say “Job well done”
🙂
Garrison may your Faith in Christ comfort you and your family in this time. She’s whole now as when you first met and in his arms.
🙂
My prayers are with you & I am truly sorry for your loss. Even though I never met her I have a mental picture of her right now driving a flat bed pickup truck with the windows down & her hair blowing wildly in the wind.
Much love to you!
She was both a scholar and a girl from the oil-patch.
I remembered the story of her being an “oil patch kid” & that image is what I held onto as I read of your wonderful wife’s passing.
You & your stories are much appreciated! Again my sincerest sympathies ❤️
I know this was not a day you looked forward to experiencing. yet one that was destined to arrive. My heart goes out to you, Garrison.. for the loss of your life partner and for the empty moments you are experiencing right now. The Lord listened when you prayed to Him.. and he granted you fervent prayers. He did that for me as well… allowing me to be there when my love passed. Allow your sorrow to surface, but also allow the feeling of relief that she no longer suffers. There will be a time of adjustment… it takes time whenever there is a loss such as this.
I want to offer you this… if you feel the need to just talk.. babble or complain about your loss, I am available. I won’t put my phone nuber here, but I will include my email address. If you feel that need, write and I’ll send you the phone number via return email. [email protected]
There is an entire family here for you Garrison.. We share in your sorrow and pray for you and your situation
Thank you for your kind words. I’m OK emotionally. I could see this coming for quite some time. 🙂
Dearest Garrison,
Praying God’s loving comfort to surround you and fill your heart with His Love. 🙏🙏🙏💝
How precious all your friends here are wrapping you in their arms. My prayer is you will constantly feel His arms holding you in His peace which is so real. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil 4:7 She is now in peace and waiting for you, Garrison.
🙂
🙂
God bless you Garrison, sobbing quietly…..
Be well. 🙂
Oh, Garrison! May God give you peace, and may light perpetual shine upon your lovely wife! I’m sure she is waiting for you – maybe flying a kite with the wind blowing her hair. Please take care of yourself as you mourn your dear one.
🙂
Oh, dearest Garrison, I knew yesterday. My heart is in bits for your loss.
We all in this church have been by your side, marveling at your strength and devotion in caring for the woman with whom you shared your life and to whom you gave your promise and your heart all those years ago. You were faithful and enduring every day.
And her suffering is over and she is at peace in the arms of the Father Who has finally taken her home. He has her now and she is safe. Your road together through this earthly life has forked for just a moment, for only a moment.
Each one of us grieves with you as if we were physically standing beside you. But please know…and feel…dear friend, that every one in this loving Tree who knows you IS with you through the Holy Spirit. And we are always here whenever you need us.
I will pray for her beautiful soul. God is full of grace and is merciful. He will not leave you to endure alone. May His peace rest with you every second until you and she meet once more…as before, with great concern and so much affection and in grief with you.. Bet🙏
This morning, waking up, I thought I sensed her lying in her place on the bed. 🙂
Don’t lose that feeling please. I think it may be one that sustains you. And from my inexplicable experiences will prove to be a reality, I pray with all my heart.🙏
May God bless you and her Garrison. As hard as it is at least for me and my family it was a blessing when Mom went. She would not go when we were there. The nurses told us that for whatever reason they seem to wait until their alone and all is quiet before they allow themselves to go. And that is exactly the way it happened.
🙂
Really and truly sorry for your loss, Garrison. She’s now in the loving arms of God.
You’re amongst friends here in the Treeper community.

Oh Garrison, I’m shedding tears for you.
When I lost my mother, of the same disease as your dear wife, the world felt strange for a time…a thing I noticed every morning. Must be orders of magnitude worse losing a spouse.
Thank you for all you give here in the Treehouse, I enjoy all of your posts. You are a blessing. Please know that.
I’m sorry for your loss, and I lift you up in prayer asking God to give you everything and more.

🙂
oh garrison, so very sorry to hear…
thoughts and prayers to you and your family, and may you find comfort in her gentle passing.
My dear friend,
Words cannot assuage the grief, so I will sit silently by your side in prayer.
Your beloved is with her savior and your love in her transition is the personification of the vow you both held together. I understand the emptiness you sense in these new moments. It can be a choking silence at times as the life clock now resets. Everything becomes ‘the first since’… and so it will be.
Be gentle with yourself. Allow yourself to honor your wife in those moments when you feel it. It will not lessen the human anguish, but every moment felt is a reflection of your love for her.
Feel deeply. She is beside you in every moment you experience.
My deepest condolences and most profound prayers are with you.
~Sundance
Thank you for the kind, much appreciated words, Sundance. I don’t think the feelings of loss ever really go away — instead if you are lucky you just learn to accept and deal with them. My house feels empty now and I find myself absently looking for her, expecting to see her in familiar places . . .
But, fortunately, I don’t feel empty because I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by friends—both here and at home. Friends, contact, interaction are perfect antidotes for emotional emptiness.
It’s when there’s nobody out there that the emptiness sneaks in.
I was just checking back in and saw your reply to Sundance.
And I felt compelled to say what I have told my two grandlads nearest to us. One can in every way judge a man by the friends he keeps. You, good sir, are one of the wealthiest people I know.
You are a remarkable and good man, Garrison. The number of those offering their condolences on this site is remarkable. But I noticed also that the number acknowledging your loss is many more times that. Your posting music for the years you have been has obviously attracted many followers who do not comment here, but obviously check in to hear what you’ve selected. You reach so many who are so clearly with you in spirit.
I hope knowing that gives you some solace as you move into the next chapter of your life. You are a lovely man whose heart is in every piece of music or word you post. None of us know each other’s faces, as I’ve said before…but we know each other’s hearts. Which is so much better. Your other home is right here, and we are right here with and for you.
God bless, my friend, on what I know was a difficult day. My life is better for knowing you, something I know I’m not alone in feeling. Get a good rest if you can.😘
Thank you, Bet. God’s blessings on you, too. 🙂
….thank you so much.
Garrison, I am so sorry to hear this. My deepest sympathies for you. Right now you have been placed on quite a few prayer lists that travel around the world. No name of course. May Gods peace comfort you through this difficult season. Father in Heaven, please be with Garrison as he travels through this difficult time in his life. Please comfort him and let him feel Your presence in a Mighty way. In Jesus precious Name, AMEN.
🙂
It seems so empty to say the obvious, that she is in a better place now,..and that the empty hole in your life and the pain it invokes WILL lessen with time and familiarity.
Haveing had HER be the total focus of your life, for over 20 years, your brain is now “hard wired” with major nuerons, like superhighways, leading directly to thoughts if her.
Another trite but true, it will take TIME, to develop new nuerons, not to replace, but to supplement those neurons, thoughts that are about YOU,,and independant of her.
You may resist this, both because such thoughts are “new” and you might feel, FEEL on an emotional level that they are a betrayal, …of coarse they are not, but feelings have nothing to do with logic.
Gain comfort in the Lord, and solace in fellowship.
You gave of yourself, out of Love, and I am sure your efforts were noted in the Big book.
While its not easy, start the process of thinking about YOURSELF, as a seperate and distinct entity from her or we.
Take care of yourself, is what I am saying.
Thanks for the kind words and be well. 🙂
Please accept my most sincere condolences to you Garrison.
Somehow I failed to visit the Open Thread yesterday so I visited just now and found your post.
It is not surprising that you have a great many friends in the Treehouse.
Please accept my deepest sympathy, Garrison.
After all of the years you have given us all such joy, please know how deepfelt my appreciation is for the everlasting love and joy you have with your wife.
Having lost my father to a long illness and many complications in late June, I will add my prayers for you. May God bless you both.

The Far-Reaching Rivers of Life
He who believes in Me…out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. —John 7:38
A river reaches places which its source never knows. And Jesus said that, if we have received His fullness, “rivers of living water” will flow out of us, reaching in blessing even “to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8) regardless of how small the visible effects of our lives may appear to be. We have nothing to do with the outflow— “This is the work of God, that you believe…” (John 6:29). God rarely allows a person to see how great a blessing he is to others.
A river is victoriously persistent, overcoming all barriers. For a while it goes steadily on its course, but then comes to an obstacle. And for a while it is blocked, yet it soon makes a pathway around the obstacle. Or a river will drop out of sight for miles, only later to emerge again even broader and greater than ever. Do you see God using the lives of others, but an obstacle has come into your life and you do not seem to be of any use to God? Then keep paying attention to the Source, and God will either take you around the obstacle or remove it. The river of the Spirit of God overcomes all obstacles. Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or the difficulty. The obstacle will be a matter of total indifference to the river that will flow steadily through you if you will simply remember to stay focused on the Source. Never allow anything to come between you and Jesus Christ— not emotion nor experience— nothing must keep you from the one great sovereign Source.
Think of the healing and far-reaching rivers developing and nourishing themselves in our souls! God has been opening up wonderful truths to our minds, and every point He has opened up is another indication of the wider power of the river that He will flow through us. If you believe in Jesus, you will find that God has developed and nourished in you mighty, rushing rivers of blessing for others.

Good morning Cat!
This popular hymn was first published in “Slave Songs of the United States”in 1867 but has probably been around much longer. “Let’s go down to the river and pray.”The song seems like a prayer to me.
Thank you for sharing this sweet song. Lots of precious memories come flooding back from years gone by!
Beautiful song. Thank you for sharing. We have lost so much soul searching music in this country. I remember going to revival tent meetings when I was young. They were always packed and many souls were saved at these “tent” revivals.

ho, geez, I just inadvertently saw Sylvester Stallone’s orgasm face
the horror … the horror …
the movie Demolition Man
set in the future when they’ve eliminated violence from society … except for Wesley Snipes, who’s escaped from prison deep-freeze (literally – we’re talking cryogenics) and is capable of muder-death-kill
so police officers Stallone and a very beautiful and young Sandra Bullock (30 years ago already, 1993) put on – ahem – ‘romantic liaison’ headsets and sat 6 feet apart and had mental congress
as it heated up with back-and-forth mind flashes, ever faster, upward, striving (Tom Ewell’s repeated soliloquy in Seven Year Itch) …
… eventually Sylvester scrunched his face up in a contorted Brooklyn-Italian grimace — and whatever else is wrong with his face to begin with — and it was all over, apparently, because next scene was them jumping up and having awkward conversation as she showed him to the door
just reporting so you don’t have to see it
Sandra’s sure pretty, tho — first role I saw her in and couldn’t help but take notice
uh oh
now Snipes has him grabbed up by this big hydraulic grabbing machine and Stallone’s making that same grimace
either he’s got only one grimace in the Stallone grimace acting library, or I’m confused now
Sandra Bullock is terrific in that flick! What’s the phrase the leader uses? “Enhance your calm”? (something like that)’ Oh! and ALL Restaurants are Taco Bell 😊
“Enhance your calm, John Spartan”
It was a great touch making Taco Bell the only upscale place to eat out.

MORNING
Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. Lam. 3:41
Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! Psa. 113:5, 6
Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. Psa. 25:1
I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Psa. 143:6-8
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. Psa. 63:3, 4
Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Psa. 86:4, 5
Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do. John 14:13
EVENING
Watchman, what of the night? Isa. 21:11
It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Rom. 13:11, 12
Learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: so likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matt. 24:32, 33, 35
I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. Psa. 130:5, 6
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly, Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Rev. 22:20
Watch…. for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Matt. 25:13

Jesus of Nazareth Passes By
UNSHAKEN by the storms that rage
O’er all the earth in every time,
Moves one lone Man through every age,
Serene, invincible, sublime.
Through all the centuries He goes,
His timeless journey to complete,
Divinely calm, as one who knows
The way is sure beneath His feet.
Wild storms of hate beat round His head,
Earth rocks beneath the crash of war,
But still, with smooth, unhurried tread,
He moves, untroubled as before.
Over the wrecks of fallen states,
Through fair, proud nations yet to fall,
Passes the Master of their fates,
The silent Sovereign of them all.
Unfaltering through the blackest night,
Denied by man, yet loving man,
His face gives back the morning light,
His calm eyes see God’s finished plan.
One little troubled day we bide,
And then find rest in beds of clay;
But our brief day is glorified —
We have seen Jesus pass this way.

Morning all. I go back to work today. I have been on call since Sunday at 06:00 but did not get the call. Glad it didn’t come when I was in the middle of taking out that dishwasher.
I am scheduled to depart at 11:00 for Breinigsville, PA. Nestles load of Boost in a dry van. Drop the trailer at 555 Nestles Way at 23:00 and hopefully find a serviceable empty to hook to. Take a 10 hour break right in the bull pen at the facility. Then it’s up to Phillipsburg, PA north of Penn State. From there further north above I-80 to Ridgeway, PA and then to the Vandalia, OH terminal. Finally back to the Anderson, IN terminal I left from.
On the way out I always stop and top off at the Love’s truck stop east of Zanesville, OH. That ensures that I don’t have to fuel in PA where fuel taxes are some of the worst in the country.
It is possible to make it back to Anderson without taking a 2nd 10 hour break but it is very tight. Any significant hold up due to traffic or construction will force me to take another 10 hour break before I make it back.
Weather: Earl has turned north but is still moving slow at 7 mph. Still bears watching but as things look now Bermuda is within the warning cone of the track though the storm is projected to pass just east of there.
TS Kay is still projected to become a hurricane but the track projection now shows it arching out to the west away from S. California so it may not bring the relief that it could have.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

Can these attacks or illegal punishments and year long incarcerations before a trial be legally stopped?
