Florida Governor Ron DeSantis doesn’t use his official office account to release a statement on the FBI raid in Mar-a-Lago, that likely required a joint cooperative task force response from the state, as customary for fulfilment of a federal warrant upon a Florida citizen. Instead, Florida Governor DeSantis issues a tweet from his personal account noting the action was yet “another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies.” Oh well, that’s a relief, heavy sigh, as long as it’s just “another escalation”….
Quick pivot right to the whataboutism politics DC is famous for… “while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves”, and “IRS agents,” etc.
You see, this is what DC does to bang the pots and pans loudly in the UniParty kitchen. As a congressional representative, Ron DeSantis learned the chaff and countermeasures well. Actually challenge the federal government? No way. Not gonna happen.

I just wanted to add that I got an email from my county Republican headquarters promoting them to stop by their booth at the fair last week. And they had a picture of t-shirts for sale, one had President Trump like superman with “UltraMAGA” on it, and another was Trump 2024. What disturbed me was the third t-shirt- DeSantis 2024.

DeSantis won by 32,000 votes, no recount triggered. Trump’s support for him in 2018 was very helpful in saving the state from the hideous alternative. But that’s where Trump’s influence ended. DeSantis’ himself made his governorship one for the people. His actions showed that he related to suffering Americans. He may lack pizzazz on the campaign trail, but he more than makes up for it by his actions. PCR tests should never have been allowed in this country. DeSantis was the only governor to make public that PCR tests weren’t reporting “cycle threshold” values with each test, meaning that at least half of “tests” were being falsely reported as positive–which in turn caused closed schools, parents having to leave jobs, and massive suffering for no reason. Trump never mentioned that. Trump called up DeSantis at some point early on and said, Ron, this looks terrible seeing all your people on the beach. DeSantis said he was keeping it that way. You’ll recall that Trump brutally attacked the Gov. of Georgia on tv for slightly beginning to open Georgia. I eagerly voted for Trump in 2016, but once elected, he became the opposite of everything he ran on. Not least that he made Ivanka’s husband de facto president. Jared had full control of the White House, every detail of Trump’s 2020 campaign, merged Trump fundraising operations with RNC in 2019 via WinRed, and runs and staffs all Trump’s post presidential PACs and groups. AFDI is said to be Trump’s 2024 cabinet in waiting. Its staff includes Jared’s pal Chet Wolf who while at DHS said “white supremacy” was US’s greatest problem.
If DeSantis was man enough, he would have held a presser and let the whole world know what he was asked to do and then REFUSED.

“Escalation” is the most tepid and disappointing comment DeSantis has ever made, especially when it involves the FBI’s political attack on P Trump. The weak comment has exposed him to be exactly what sundance said the Gov. was. It seems to indicate that he still has a strong connection to the DC elite. I hope I’m wrong but his comment is not the usually articulate and strong reply.
This raid might have given DeSantis instant and pleasant visions of an uncontested Presidential race for him in 2024. Was the possibility of having his most popular opponent eliminated or politically harmed before the nominati0n process was too much to contain and to fake a stronger condemnation or what? Unless the Governor decides to condemn this action sometime soon in his usually strong way, his popularity will plummet outside and maybe inside Florida. Very disappointing for now.

I saw someone on twitter say that if they indicted Trump, he’d become a symbol for the movement/GOP. Um…he already is? Now, I’m not saying Trump knows this now or even knew it when he ran, but he become one over the past few years at some point; whether it was 2016 or not. DeSantis’ statement needs more teeth, and I would expect more teeth in the morning from many more Republicans (some of whom likely get orders). But you are right, his statement isn’t what the country needs right now. What are the GOP going to do about it?
