There was a lot of back-and-forth hostility between the government of China and the administration of Joe Biden in advance of Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan. Some Chinese state media even suggested a possibility that Pelosi’s plane could be shot down. However, none of the threats materialized.
Yesterday it was obvious the White House was attempting to diffuse the aggressive grievances of Beijing when spokesperson John Kirby, technically the NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications, made a specific statement:
“The world has seen the United States government be very clear that nothing has changed — nothing has changed — about our One China policy, which is of course guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, the Three Joint U.S.-PRC Communiqués, and the Six Assurances. We have said — and we have repeatedly said — that we oppose any unilateral changes to the status quo from either side. We have said that we do not support Taiwan independence. And we have said that we expect cross-Strait differences to be resolved by peaceful means.”
Those six words, “we do not support Taiwan independence,” was a very deliberate and public assurance to China. Essentially, the United States will not do anything to support the independence of Taiwan, do whatever you want. Joe Biden took a knee to Chairman Xi. As a result, Beijing dropped back their tone to traditional rhetoric saying in a statement Tuesday morning, the visit “seriously infringes upon China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Arriving late last night, Speaker Pelosi released the following statement: “Our visit is one of several Congressional delegations to Taiwan – and it in no way contradicts longstanding United States policy, guided by the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, U.S.-China Joint Communiques and the Six Assurances. The United States continues to oppose unilateral efforts to change the status quo.”
The Biden administration then sought to overwhelm the media coverage of the Pelosi controversy by promoting the killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al Zawahiri.
…And that’s the way that went.
That Kirby guy disgusts me. He is nothing but a pathetic DNC whore.
His body language screams extreme psychopath
What he says is true as far as the US state department is concerned. Go to their website, and you will find that the US states there is one China. BTW, there are many in Taiwan who want to be part of China. All of this is just more warmongering so defense contractors can sell more overpriced crap and the globalists can sacrifice our children in their wars. Meanwhile, the US is being invaded every single day and nothing is being done to stop it.
I would like to see your evidence that “many”people in Taiwan want their nation to become part of Communist China. Having spent several years teaching at a university outside of Taipei, I can tell you that I never heard anyone say they wanted Taiwan to become part of Communist China.
Good question. I’d be interested to see that data pony’d up as well. A generation that may still have felt some tugs at the heartstrings are buried now. During the Cold War I never met a Czech or an East German that didn’t know how to compare & contrast.
Yes, many on Taiwan await “reunification”. These would be the families (and descendants ) who fled Taiwan after the communist takeover. Many were wealthy, and they invested heavily in China starting in the late 70s.
They received a special travel document, and had to travel to China via Hong Kong. They also arranged for technical advisors, many of whom were educated at our universities.
The government of Taiwan looked on approvingly.
They think they will have a seat at the big table, and will be big wheels in their ancestral provinces. Their traditional view of Taiwan, in general, is that it is a temporary residence, entirely too small, and populated with native Taiwanese whom they consider low class.
Many Taiwanese see their island as a separate nation. At the heart of the divide is that the Chinese government sees Taiwan as a breakaway province that will, eventually, be part of the country.
Still, many Taiwanese people consider their self-ruled island to be a separate nation – whether or not independence is ever officially declared. Now, despite having all the characteristic of an independent state and a political system that is distinct from China, Taiwan’s legal status remains unclear.
Relations between Taiwan and China started improving in the 1980s as Taiwan relaxed rules on visits to and investment in China. In 1991, it proclaimed that the war with the People’s Republic of China was over. China proposed the so-called “one country, two systems” option, which it said would allow Taiwan significant autonomy if it agreed to come under Beijing’s control. This system underpinned Hong Kong’s return to China in 1997 and the manner in which it was governed until recently, when Beijing has sought to increase its influence. Taiwan rejected the offer and Beijing’s insisted that Taiwan’s ROC government is illegitimate – but unofficial representatives from China and Taiwan still held limited talks.
In 2000, Taiwan elected Chen Shui-bian as president; to Beijing’s alarm. Mr Chen and his party, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), had openly backed “independence”. A year after Mr Chen was re-elected in 2004, China passed a so-called anti-secession law, stating China’s right to use “non-peaceful means” against Taiwan if it tried to “secede” from China. Mr Chen was succeeded by the KMT’s Ma Ying-jeou in 2008 who tried improving relations through economic agreements.
Eight years later, in 2016, Taiwan’s current president Tsai Ing-wen, who now leads the independence-leaning DPP, was elected. Under Ms Tsai, cross-Straits relations soured again. The rhetoric sharpened further in 2018 as Beijing stepped up pressure on international companies – if they failed to list Taiwan as a part of China on their websites, it threatened to block them from doing business in China. Tsai won a second term in 2020 with a record-breaking 8.2 million votes in what was widely seen as a snub to Beijing. By then Hong Kong had seen months of unrest, with huge protesters against the mainland’s growing influence – and many in Taiwan were watching closely.
Later that year, China’s implemented a national security law in Hong Kong that is considered to be yet another sign of Beijing’s assertion.
How much of an issue is independence in Taiwan?
While political progress has been slow, links between Beijing and Taipei, and the two economies have grown. Between 1991 and the end of May 2021, Taiwanese investment in China totalled $193.5bn (£157.9bn), Taiwanese official figures show. Some Taiwanese people worry their economy is now dependent on China while most others believe that closer business ties make Chinese military action less likely, because of the cost to China’s own economy. A controversial trade agreement sparked the “Sunflower Movement” in 2014, where students and activists occupied Taiwan’s parliament protesting against what they called China’s growing influence over Taiwan.
Officially, the ruling DPP still favours formal independence for Taiwan, while the KMT favours eventual unification with China. Recent polls show many Taiwanese support the government’s approach in “safeguarding national sovereignty” But most Taiwanese people seem to fall somewhere in between.
NOW, the punishment has begun and there is no end in sight. Overnight, Chinese authorities announced a sudden ban on imports from more than 100 Taiwanese food companies, according to local media. It is no doubt an act of retribution over Pelosi’s visit (to secure her legacy over Taiwan’s economic security and growing trade stability?), given China is the island’s largest trading partner.
Seems to be the true nature of all democrats…
THAT is a bit hard on those girls isnt it?????… I mean they have pride …..
He was an Admiral in the NAVY, not that means anything, just commenting. He used to work w/barry. I despise the man.
All about the microchips.
Piglosi represents the Silicon Valley oligarchs and herself of course.
Have to keep that trough open to feed.
Everything Woke Turns to Shill. They announce themselves.
“The disclosure of their $341,365 loss was a rare moment of specific transparency for the Pelosis, with many accusing them of taking (and then announcing) the hit to quash resurgent accusations of insider trading.”
zerohedge.com/political/pelosi-appears-have-taken-advantage-inside-information-former-dallas-fed-chief-fisher
Don’t look at her small little trades, it’s her donors whom you should be watching, they make billions off her political moves.
Come on…she had to go…
Just like Ukraine…
Have to communicate the updated routing and account numbers…
^^^^THIS^^^^
Intsead of ” put a sock in it” …. Now shut up, brandon!
She is our champion of democracy but doesn’t represent the US people in the republic. Political stunt needs all the attention they can get, yet it is not working, then again polls only need to be closed Media will cover the rest.
Actually, Nanzi never intentionally wanted to go to Taiwan. When they left Hawaii, the pilot heard her mention that she was going to go tie one on and away they went.
And the name of her pilot was Sum Ting Wong
Oh come on! Sum Ting Wong only flies the plane when it crashes.
That’s correct. The pilot’s real name was Ho Lee Zhitt.
Co pilot is Wi Tu Low
MElieTOO
COMEDY GOLD!
I heard they refueled her plane en route with Smirnoff.
I’m sticking with my prediction that the Chinese – who know exactly why Nancy is there, who she is meeting with and what she’s getting out of it – will somehow get the info into US media stream within the next few days.
Cue Flounder in “Animal House”. “This is great!”
Sorry. That certainly seem like kowtowing to the Chinese by Biden who himself has not refuted legitimate claims his family is compromised by business dealings with the Chinese. Calls for an independent counsel just got louder.
“Calls for an independent counsel just got louder.”
Yeah those never seem to work out, unless your a Swamp lawyer.
Independent counsels are only invoked for cover ups. Bread and circuses for the masses who still naively believe justice will be done.
We’re not in that country anymore, if we ever were.
I think it’s time to admit China owns this country and all its.politicians lock, stock, and barrel.
We are a Chinese satellite country. Chang(e) my mind.
The government maybe, but We the People are definitely NOT.
Undoing what’s been done beginning with the Clintons in the ’90s is going to be extraordinarily difficult and painful. Many will probably die as a result of the effort and success is not assured. But still, we must try.
For those who would like an example of the phrase “Herculean task”, this would suffice.
But we will need the help of a merciful Almighty God to do it.
First, there needs to be widespread acknowledgement of the CCP’s 25 year effort to subvert the US through non- military actions. All the bankers, tech companies, media and entertainment companies, current and former politicians, scientists, other academics, and other influencers needs to be called, shamed, and their pro-CCP actions reversed.
Let “Red Handed,” Schweizer’s latest book, become required reading for every American.
Don’t forget the pharmaceutical and medical side.
Actually, I think it all started with Daddy Bush and developed from him. Biden is using the Bush phrases when speaking about the last killing of al-Zawahiri in drone strike; George W. said the same thing after 911. I guess Biden’s handlers are too young to remember the History. All the administrations from Bush Sr. through Obiden are thick huggers.
The News controls our focus. not informs us.
in the future an event will happen ( a bill passed to launder money, something) – just look back in hindsight and remember the play.
Taiwan will need something – the US will give it via your debt. China will have it hackable via informing Pelosi the only items she can offer to Taiwan. And Pelosi will hand off the blackfiles to get the Taiwan leaders to conform.
This is all election imaging, massive face saving BS
if thats true, then its 100% gauranteed China will not do ANYTHING to Taiwan. because they like Pelosi and the other Traitors in office.
Yesterday it was was, oh no Nancy, don’t go to Taiwan it’s much too dangerous and China will be mad….Tomorrow the MSM will be clacking their coconuts together and singing Brave, Brave, Sir Nancy….It’s a dog and pony show and a set up to make the Dems look strong in the face of a weak Biden….They will be pulling these stunts up until the midterms.
“Come to Chinatown, the Wuhan is fine.”
And we all thought that she wasn’t coming back…
Rats.
Great image of biden nibbling off the hand that feeds him.
And I wonder how Pelosi benefits from this visit. Has it something to do with stock transactions, payback for political contributions from SF Chinese Americans in her SF District, or a distraction from her husband’s crooked tax transactions?
The threats from the Chinese are quite extraordinary and should not be dismissed.
She’s doing it for us, the people she proudly represents. /s
Ha! Nancy does for herself; she does not proudly represent anyone; just look at her district. Pitiful.
https://thenationalpulse.com/2022/08/01/dc-firms-repping-chinese-social-credit-score-company/ The benefit is in being paid off to force a social
Credit system on us.
I don’t think anything one way or another Nancy in Taiwan. Just a lot of yakkity-yak to keep people occupied for the time-being.
I don’t think China will retaliate until around Labor Day. At that time, Congress will be out of session, Biden will be out of DC, people will be finishing their vacations and getting their children ready for school. In other words, no one will be paying attention. China doesn’t need to attack us militarily (we can’t win a war with them anyway). They have lots of other ways to bring the US to a halt. I also think that’s when China will take over Taiwan.
And just like that, Taiwan is on its own.
That is one hell of a sharp focus…well done!
Just like the people of Ukraine, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Libya,Syria, iraq etc. Etc. Etc…..
Chyna to ring Taiwan with no-go live fire zones in very close waters from Aug. 4-8
@IntelCrab
The consequences – lots of dead fish, maybe a few fishermen.
Nanci sends her best.
All theatre. All of it.
Now Nanci is the hero who braved death to visit Taiwan, and gave the finger to Xi.
Meanwhile Nanci & Zi are all “hee, hee, hee”.
Brave, brave Sir Nanci
Tucker et al – are you a tiny bit embarrassed?
A more criminal organization we have never seem before, Old Joe Nasty Piglosi and Xi Jingpong. A show for the masses of humanity, they all belong to the Uniparty Global Conglomerate.
All worked out ahead of time! We have to make humanity believe we are about to blow the earth into a million pieces.
The part I like is when God has had enough and blows their scam into a million pieces, just when they think they won. Surprise, someone much bigger then them is in control.
It’s the old gang, using the same old tactics they always use when regime change is their end goal.
1. Define the oppressed.
(The Taiwan people)
2. Define the oppressor.
(CHINA!)
3. Use agencies like USAID to launder unaccountable funds in the name of democracy.
4.when public support for spending has peaked move on to the next manufactured crises.
5. ALWAYS leave the people we claim to want to help worse off than they were before we helped.
I wonder how these tactics will work in a multi-polar world?
im shocked comments like this get skipped by. its verbatim their play over and over.
good job
Going to be interesting to hear Trump’s take on this.
I know.😞
“Some Chinese state media even suggested a possibility that Pelosi’s plane could be shot down. However, none of the threats materialized.”
The plane was a diversion. Chinese radar were unable to detect an airborne wooden broomstick.
One phone call from xi and the Airport would have been closed for cleaning.
China doesn’t really care.
And neither do we.
👍
The usual suspects …
“WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and 23 of his colleagues issued the following joint statement in support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stopping in Taiwan during her diplomatic trip to Asia.
“We support Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan.
For decades, members of the United States Congress, including a previous Speaker of the House, have travelled to Taiwan. This travel is consistent with the United States’ One China policy to which we are committed. We are also committed now, more than ever, to all elements of the Taiwan Relations Act.””

All the most high integrity and high character people who serve themselves…I mean oligarchs…wait it’s American’s right?
That’s like a list of some of the worst people in the world who pretend to do good.
I think we need to start referring to these people as American oligarchs,
For example, “American Oligarch Bill Gates.”
Support them with what? Ukraine 2.0 money laundering.
McConnel’s secret empire is in Taiwan.
This is why it’s a pipe dream that conservatives will never have a Senate majority. Not sooner. Not later.
”…EVER have…” I meant to type
So Republicans are Pelosi fans now. Did they ever think to ask why she did this, and why taxpayers should foot the bill? If Republicans keep being shills for the MIC, I will stop voting for them. What’s the use?
Some might wonder why the quiet dc folks are just beginning to say distracting things ( and do nothing good ) with the ongoing happenings:
10 I’s ( not 5 eyes):
Increases in taxes ( to counter US debts rising due to dc over spending on wrong things)
IRS adding ‘jobs’ ( see above )
Inflation ( real and rising)
Injections of gene therapy ( real, coerced, and dubious track record)
Illegal immigrations ( real)
Integrity of elections ( real problem)
Impeachment 3 ( made up )
Insurrection ( made up )
Interference in rus / ukr
I do not know ( selection season, again? )
Love thy neighbors
A nice list of all the RINO’s
What!? No Mittens?
Mitt must be busy with other matters… I wonder what…
God, help us!
*** shudders***
There goes Marsha, Marsha, Marsha (Blackburn-TN) beating us over the head with how MAGA she is, again! One only needs to look at her voting record to figure out what she really is! 🤬
I am surprised and disappointed in some of the Southern senators, especially -Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
Does Taiwan have discount liquor and botox? Asking for a friend…
Seriously, I feel sorry for the people of Taiwan. They will be most impacted if anything happens.
This isn’t the first time a member of our government has been there. Is China blustering now because they know how weak Presidunce is and how split our country is?
If Nancy makes it back home, my guess is the Chinese will take revenge for sure, how is the million dollar question, adjusted for inflation to two million. I expect a very “vocal” statement by the Chinese as to what they will now do…if she makes it back home or out of Taiwan…alive.
Pelosi yields to whomever is in charge.
if China is powerful she will yield. if Global Recruits are powerful and they want more laundering she will yield.
She’ll be on her knees faster than you can suck up lo mein noodles, no kente scarf required…
All China has to do is cut off all the vital stuff they sell to the US, such as parts for the military and medicines. The collective west is evil, stupid, or probably both.
Chyna will occupy Taiwan next…..using nanzi as the impetus to do so.
Ground Hog Day
Since other governments are doing as they please, through territorial expansion, and getting zero push back from anyone.
I propose the occupation of Mexico, by the U.S. Govt on behave of it’s citizens.
The border invasion is an act of war, the never ending flood of drugs are an act of war and the gangs, cartels and sex trafficking are all acts of war against the American citizens.
These threats can only be extinguished by military force, at this point.
The oppressed people of Mexico, who live within this saturated corruption and culture of death can then finally have the American Dream, that millions and millions of them long for, evidently.
Win, win.
What a belligerent monster (China), the U.S. Chamber of Chinese Commerce and American on-the-take Politicians hath wrought.
Did anyone ask Taiwan whether they wanted to be part of the COMMUNISTIC Dictatorship ?
Hey, bright side:
One less al-Q devil.
dont worry , they will make 10 more imaginary ones they can “capture” later to justify laundering our money.
3rd photo down showing Nancy up close….
Omg. No wonder her hubby likes to drink.
The United States once fully supported “The Republic of China”. We built an airbase there in the ’50’s. It was commonly known as CCK when I was in Viet Nam.
https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Ching_Chuan_Kang_Air_Base
Thank you for your service. You made it out alive …
Pelosi’s husband is drinking early today. He’s upset the Chinese did not shoot her plane down but he still has hope that they might when she leaves.
The Wicked Witch of the West arrives in the East . . .
Well … Pelosi is on the ground … in Taiwan. Doing the political rounds.
My theory: The Biden Admin. is utterly FAKING a “tough on ChiCom” strategy. For desperate election help and to distract from the monstrosity known as the Ukraine War and all its failures. Xi agreed to send some unknown functionary out to make foreboding ultimatums … that Pelosi and Biden have “bravely” ignored. It’s all political theatre … which is the only thing the Dems are good at.
What does Xi get out of it? More America-Last ChiCom-First policies out of the Democrats holding power.
What is it such a big deal Nancy goes to Taiwan? What can she actually do or say which makes anything any different?
This has nothing to do with Taiwan or their people, and everything to do with semiconductors.
I wonder how much “made in China” computer equipment it takes to keep the electronic surveillance at the NSA up and running, chips not withstanding.
No mention of her getting #4 liver transplant? /s
I want a reporter to ask why she went, why now, and who authorized a massive military escort that puts US lives at risk and cost taxpayers millions of dollars? Congressmen should not be taking all-expense paid trips on a whim by calling them fact-finding trips. It’s a scam, and we pay for it.
I would like to know when we started having the speaker of the House of Representatives traveling to foreign lands doing the work that had been the responsibility of the State Department.
Just count the trips Michelle O. took; even took along mama and Hollywood friends to Africa. These people have nothing to do and to relieve boredom they travel on taxpayer’s dime.
This planet has been turned into a penal colony and the inmates are running the show. This godless generation is doomed.
Oh look a new fake cold war.
Should be good for trillions of spending, a new security state and decades of graft.
Meet the new cold war, same as the old cold war.
So what is Pelosi trying to accomplish?
Good op-ed trying to answer that question.
The U.S. is struggling with the “new norm” of a multipolar world where countries can choose energy security over wokeness.
https://www.rt.com/news/560058-kosovo-taiwan-washingtons-chaos/
The sad reality is that they sent Nancy because she was the least-demented person available. Which isn’t saying much …
China is colluding with the US as is Russia.
Everything is made up
The Act, The Communiques, The Assurances, and The Prostration.
Does anyone really believe Pelosi knows where she is or why she went there? Judging by her performance of the last six years (at least), she seems to be a senile as Biden.
People tell me the Country is all screwed-up. I ask how could it be any other way? The President is senile, the House speaker is senile and the Vice President is a blooming idiot. What is it the American people send their finest to govern them?
China a$$h@le and paper tiger.
No bigger a$$h@le than the people running the United States in Washington, DC.
I wish they had shot it down! I’d take off a week celebrating!
How long before they surrender the US to the CCP?
Xi will look like a paper tiger if he doesn’t respond in some military context.
So killing Al Zawahiri is a good thing as long as he was taken out during a dem regime? I seem to remember lots of teeth gnashing when Soleimani was neutralized.
Kirby makes me physically ill.
Dim sum; goodies on a cart.
Old Chinese saying; “take from cart leave in bowl. Or Tong pay visit.”
Nan and Joe have lived large off the table. CCP has big problems; unhappy population and too many people. They need war. Nan and Joe need war. Nan and Joe are employed by CCP.
What we see must first be understood.
Pelosi protesters line street in Taiwan…
