Officials in the state of Texas are worried the emergency measures taken Wednesday to avoid blackouts may not be enough. The utility operators urgently need the wind to start operating the windmills or things might get worse. Reuters News has more:
(Reuters) – Texas’s power grid operator on Wednesday took emergency measures to avoid rolling blackouts as soaring electricity demand threatened to outpace available supplies amid a stifling heatwave.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which operates the grid that serves more than 26 million customers, initiated a rarely used emergency program that is triggered when supplies fall below a critical safety margin.
Earlier, ERCOT had urged residents to cut power use during the hottest hours of the day and warned of a risk for rolling blackouts. Residents were asked to turn up thermostats, defer the use of high-power appliances and turn off swimming pool pumps.
The emergency notice came after ERCOT began paying suppliers an average of $5,000 per magawatt hour to keep generators running. That price is the highest the grid operator pays. “They were pulling a lot of levers to avoid going into emergency operations and rolling blackouts,” said Doug Lewin, president of consultants Stoic Energy LLC. Call me Captain Obvious, but in addition to the population migration, it looks like Texas imported California’s energy policies. The sustainable energy isn’t sustainable. However, on a positive note, their state ESG score is improving.
Just got done watching Tucker’s latest on YT (I don’t have cable TV) and then this headline. We are…screwed? I personally have taken a pay cut recently, my company is having a tough time making payroll. Talking to new potential clients today, I wanted to scream “We might not be in business next year!” I didn’t though. But just barely.
Let me add to the misery.
On Zerohedge, A story with the headline
“Nationwide HVAC Part Shortage Leaves Homeowners Without AC During Heatwave”
My son near Austin is an industrial HVAC man. I texted him the story and asked “True??”
“It’s everything,” he said. “Compressors, fan motors, sensors, etc, you name it. Biden’s failure is affecting us all.”
And believe me, that was mild for him.
So even if…a very tenuous if…we can by some miracle keep things going, there are going to be who knows how many who will be left to swelter (and I dread to think what else) because of the moronic, cultist psychopathies of people whose raison d’etre seems to be to destroy, kill, and maim as many as they can, as quickly as they can.
We in this Texas house, along with millions across this and other states suffering through this abominable heat with crucifying energy bills, are hoping for the best.
We are steeling ourselves for the absolute worst.
I will also add, after the terrible freeze, Texas legislators begged for and got $56 BILLION to add more of those wretched windmills. Doubling down on complete failure is no way to run a state the size of ours.
Everything is bigger in Texas it is said. Especially the dimwits.
Until those $56 billion no longer exist to bribe state politicians into prescriptive deadends, the people are doomed.
The sooner the USD loses its ‘bribability premium’ borne of exorbitant privilege (global reserve status), the sooner the states will have to contend with reality.
Unfortunately, the emerging market economies and other peripheral currencies have to die first which will work in the intermediate term to strengthen the dollar as an, er, ‘safe haven’. The ship that’s sinking slowest is the safest in the harbor.
Well stated. It’s all crumbling and although the U.S. may be the last to crumble, crumble it will.
Bullies, such as we are now and as with all “empires”, always come to ignominious ends. Watching in real time the pitiful death throes of the UK, admits not pretty. Ours won’t be either.
Nothing good comes out of Austin.
(Gig ’em Aggies!)
My degree from UT….don’t tell anybody.
This is primarily on our conservative republican governor, Greg Abbott.
Still haven’t heard apeep out of him regarding the state emergency of being on the brink of having our grid shut down…not a word. If that isn’t a call to address an existential issue, I don’t know what is.
He’s kinda like John Cornyn in that respect, never a word from him except for photo ops and those times when he aligns with the opposition.
Now that’s not fair…sometimes he tweets about his anniversary, his gazing at a sunset…you know, the stuff that means nothing to anybody except to him. He’s a fraud plain and simple. But rather him than Peter Pan O’Rourke who no doubt is making hay out of this grid issue while the sun bakes us all.
Cornyn on the other hand is an out and out acolyte of the CoC and a traitor to every Constitional prnciple.
Biden isn’t helping matters, but the larger truth is this is the consequence of offshoring the US industrial base that began 30+ years ago.
Closer to 50 years ago when we had difficulty sourcing USA manufactured electronic components. By 1980 virtually ALL components were manufactured offshore(including the Mexican border ‘maquiladoras”).
IT has been longer than that…More like the start of it was in the ’80s and REALLY picked up under Bush II and them Obummer!!!
I remember outsourcing from Taiwan in the 80;s and most of the products were garbage.
clarification – I didn’t personally outsource, but was in competition with the raw
products I was selling that couldn’t compete price wise with the import of the completed
products from Taiwan.
We were buying from Japan before Taiwan.
Offshoring the US industrial base (“that giant sucking sound”) was simply a business decision on the part of these companies, to maximize revenues by exploiting cheap foreign labor and avoiding EPA and other onerous regulations. Of course, the relocation of these corporations was highly *incentivized* by governments, as well, to undermine the US economy.
However, since the USA has reportedly been the world’s largest consumer of these goods and services, we *consumers* have had considerable leverage all along, had we merely chosen to exercise discretion, by rewarding companies that operate within the USA with our patronage.
We can still turn this ship around via our purchasing habits, as President Trump has so deftly demonstrated. I’ve tried to do that over the years, as well, by shopping local mom and pop stores and avoiding multinational conglomerates like Walmart. But I am obviously not in the majority who have automatically opted for the cheapest available goods and services.
Look no further than the Amazon boom.
When we shop on the cheap, we incentivize all the offshore companies. Our decisions as consumers have obviously crippled the USA. Now we will feel the brunt of our penny wise/ pound foolish decisions, having helped facilitate the USA’s downshift to a service economy.
Americans now sit between a rock and a hard place, as even our service economy is overrun by open borders slave laborers. And most of our pensions and investment funds are now intertwined and tied to the success of these multinational corporations.
Perot was absolutely correct.
This is true. How many ships carrying all those necessary parts are still stuck off the West Coast.
Not coincidentally, Satan’s m.o. is also “kill, steal, and destroy?”
THIS ^^^^^ is the explanation to everything inexplicable we see happening. Satan and his minions (both spiritual and human) are intent on making us as miserable as they are.
Satan can’t “kill, steal and destroy” without our full cooperation. He always exploits our weaknesses. The only way to defeat Satan in the world is to appeal to the Creator of men to save us from ourselves. That choice is ours alone to make.
Huh????!!!!! Well I didn’t fully consent or cooperate to any of this NWO WEF garbage. God is allowing Satan to kill , destroy and steal. Mankind has turned their backs on God so we reap what we sow. How we can cooperate with God is through prayer, fasting and the sacraments.
In plain sight.
I am 67….in my life every time a calamity occurred in my country (UK) there was a spirit of unity and we can get through it……. Battle of Britain …stiff upper lip type thing.
Today I am not sure people in general are up to it…… Not that they cant… they just wont!
For instance …..I would bet that the reduction in power consumption would be very small….the power companies know that would be so……with the only reason for asking is to say I told you so!
This is the real problem…… the couldn’t care less I will have MY ac on attitude!
I’d rather shoot people in the face than cooperate with trannies, pedophiles, sodomites, and other Satan-worshipping types.
There is no unity anymore. There is no possibility of unity anymore.
To come together in times of crisis, you have to have common ground, a common goal, a common culture, and trust that those you are risking and sacrificing for won’t betray you or destroy you.
That isn’t going to happen. Not anymore. It may be news to you, but it won’t happen in the UK anymore either. Our cultures and societies have been deliberately attacked and destroyed. Everyone is now atomized.
Cetera,
I don’t like what you’re saying but I understand your logic. It’s hard to refute because we really have become atomized. The last person in DC I trusted flew to Florida on Jan. 20, 2021 and everybody he left behind was crooked as a dog’s hind leg. I don’t trust ANY of the news providers and think most elected officials are doing their jobs only to line their own pockets.
We MIGHT come together in the face of a truly existential crisis, but I don’t think I’d bet on it because the trust factor you rightly cite as critical is gone.
I get your point….but the fact is that we have to get along if we are to keep this world habitable……….
And you are correct about the UK today but I was talking about yesterday.
We have to find respectful common ground….. its not an option…its crucial.
Lived in a part of your beautiful country, dave, with my British husband. Watching with extreme interest the rugby scrum which the current selection process of Conservative leadership is. We are both despair looking at the mediocrity of the candidates. It wasn’t always like that.
Maybe Texas should have listened to T Bone Pickett when he was advocating for natural gas powered turbines instead of wind power
He invested quite a bit in windmills in 2008 actually. but then had to give it up?
https://energycentral.com/c/ec/t-boone-pickens-drops-wind-power-his-energy-plan
T Boone and others also invested heavily into water resources.
More than that my friend:
https://news.bswhealth.com/en-US/releases/t-boone-pickens-invests-10-million-in-baylor-health-care-system
https://www.dmagazine.com/healthcare-business/2012/09/baylor-cancer-hospital-named-for-t-boone-pickens-who-pledges-10-million/
https://twu.edu/dallas/
scroll down on the last link, seems his name gets out there in health care, too.
A truly smart man knows when to reverse course. There are none in positions of power.
It can still be done. Natural gas powered turbines are efficient and reliable. It’s just the age old issue of funding and gearing up the infrastructure. ERCOT has certainly dropped the ball again. They will be at least 5 years out before they can get new natural gas turbines up and running, maybe longer due to the EPA.
However, it’s not all their fault, other than not looking far enough out towards future power generation demand. The EPA has hammered all energy producers with costly and onerous regulations.
There is no quick or easy fix. Our utility bills will skyrocket, no doubt.
When it comes to wind power…
Even Cervantes thinks FJB is on tilt 🙂
Texas has natural gas generators. Eleven years ago in the winter of 2011, they went offline because they weren’t winterized. They have previously been down for maintenance when desperately needed. In 2021 they went offline because the first thing ERCOT did was to cut power to the Permian Basin. Why they are down in the summer, we may never know.
The quick and easy fix is screaming out within your complaints.
F the EPA.
Government has been F ing us. They have been saying “No Easy Fix” for a long time. That has been their goal.
Trump proved them wrong. So now they have doubled their effort to F us.
F JB is just a warmup.
Quick & easy fix is to burn coal. Coal is the perfect fuel for electricity generation. Easy to store energy on demand. Nothing else comes close.
“Coal is the perfect fuel for electricity generation…. Nothing else comes close.”
No
Nuclear energy is cleaner and safer.(more people have died from mining coal than building and using nuclear)
Scientific studies have proved that it’s not theory.
The media does not want you to know this.
Fukushima. All radioactive water allowed to be dumped into the sea. Yes, caused by a natural disaster (tsunami), but very poor design of backup systems.
Three Mile Island – radioactive cloud release and untold cancers. Caused by incorrect operator procedures, then lying by officials and not allowing immediate evacuation.
These are risks you have to accept if you favor nuclear.
Wasn’t there a Supreme Court Case that was won by a state because of the ONEROUS regulations they were putting out…just 2 weeks ago? That would be the way to go and do it on an EXPEDITED BASIS!!!!!
The Supreme court has clipped the wings of the EPA and put them in their proper place. They do not have the authority to make rules and regulations.
It looks like the Spirit of Texas was yet one more mythic dirigible in the pantheon of American self-inflation. Makes you wonder what if anything is true about what we tell ourselves about ourselves.
America has become a once-removed media market for liberty where we watch Dutch farmers, Canadian truckers and French Yellow Vests contending in the first-order fray.
Tell that to the imprisoned J6ers. Then go back to watching tv.
The exception proves the rule.
Today’s Americans seem to have misunderstood John Paul Jones when he said “I have not yet begun to fight.”
Thank you for saying .
Resistance doesn’t come easy.
So tired of the “it’s hopeless” think coming from MAGA folks.
Add to the list pissed-off Chinese mortgage (bag) holders. Tyler Durden asks, where are Americans? Good question.
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/china-verge-violent-debt-jubilee-thousands-disgruntled-homebuyers-refuse-pay-their-mortgage
Just plug the windmills into the wall socket , thats where the cars get power from ! ….. Duh.
Run em on solar
Diesel generators if it’s cloudy.
Why can’t we just give everyone a a couple hamster wheels or
stationary bikes?
That would solve ALL the energy problems.
Can you imagine?
Lets say you have a metro area of 6 million.
Everybody takes a 4 hour shift, and we’d be fine.
The bugs taste better when you’re hungry.
I like the way you think, Cadence calls… ever consider a career in Central Planning?
I am all about it.
How about this….
We limit the energy you CONSUME, or emit as waste,
as being equal to
the energy you PRODUCE!
That way, our energy meritocracy will be pure.
I think the next stage is Oxygen.
If you consume more breathable air,
than you produce, you’re outta here bro.
Look at fish.
They barely consume any oxygen,
but their sheet is great for fertilizer.
We should all try to be more like fish.
Or couldn’t we just arrange for a congregation of the most ardent “Greenies” to assemble on the ‘wind farms’ and blow really really hard?
Put wind turbines and solar panels on top of electric cars to power them.
Tow-behind diesel generators available as an optional accessory. Please contact our sales department for details.
That is a plug-in hybrid….
I considered towed generator trailers years ago as a very good option to extend the range of an EV on those occasional trips where one must go farther than the battery capacity will allow.
You can optimize a small diesel engine to be very fuel efficient as well as clean, and use it to power an alternator. Using rectifiers and inverters would allow the electric motor speeds variable from the optimum diesel engine speed(s). Bedsides sales, there would probably a good market for the occasional renter.
Build new roads on an incline so that *gravity* propels the vehicles one way or the other. Then all we’ll need are steering wheels and brake pedals!
Brilliant!
and the braking could produce friction generated electricity!
We have got this figured out.
The parasites should just come here for further ideas.
I am not seeing the problem with generating energy.
Humans, themselves, can power a 9 volt battery, or so I’ve heard.
The possibilities are endless.
We of WY have PLENTY of coal to sell.
Coal is the answer. No doubt.
Yup.
What they should do is instantly stop all of the Crypto data Mining in Texas.
It is taking all of the energy.
Turn off your cell phone too 😉
Rick Perry, Aggie genius that deregulated Texas power grid, has a group that bought up decommissioned gas power plants in Texas to.sell juice to bitcoin miners to come to Texas….
two words for immediate solutions
permian basin
This is the height of ridiculousness. Texans need to be out protesting …and exposing Abbott.
Abbott is exposed. I predict, if the Texas grid goes down, Abbott will lose to Beto. There are plenty of people who are hopping mad about losing electricity for days this prior winter. The whole DFW Area basically lost power for 4 days during the winter storm, even though they said they were going to do rolling blackouts. Ours never rolled, it was just black. So many people were trying to heat their home with their gas fireplaces, the natural gas pipelines couldn’t keep up. Even if you had a whole house generator, run by natural gas, you were screwed if you weren’t near the beginning of the line. We have had 3 RINO Republican Governors, Bush, Perry, and Abbott and RINO Rebublican Legislatures that have sold out the citizens of Texas for windmills and solar panel in exchange for federal dollars. Abbott is ripe for picking.
Why would Abbott lose to an open borders, anti-free-speech, anti-second amendment, anti fracking and fossil fuel marxist?
Thats what the media will say is the reason. Real reason will be election fraud. Lots of hungry illegal mules etc…
Why did Trump lose to an open borders, anti-free-speech, anti-second amendment, anti fracking and fossil fuel marxist? Every major city in Texas now votes for the Democrats, Houston, Dallas, Austin, El Paso, San Antonio and Fort Worth. In the past Presidential Election, Fort Worth/Tarrant County went Democratic for the first time since 1964. We have also had quite a bit of Califonication happening here since Covid. The Democrats just need to bolster their cheating in the inner cities of Texas a bit and Texas turns blue.
Trump didn’t lose!
Start there…
I don’t believe Trump lost the vote either, but he isn’t sitting in the White House making policy. Democrats cheat! And Republican do nothing about it.
Same thing in Florida, the population centers are Libpuke PortaJohns in need of a service.
Because the major voting areas of the state are purple swing voters.
You think Abbot is bad? You’ll know what bad really is if Beto becomes governor.
I’m thinking the Treehouse might have resident trolls whose job it is, is to discourage Republicans from voting. I still remember about a half dozen “Treepers” who hammered away 24/7 all during the 2020 Georgia US Senate campaigns to not vote Republican. Republicans under voted and the Democrats have an additional 2 Senate seats AND are the majority in the US Senate. When will people HERE wise up? Can’t people here put 2+2 together? Do people here have a mental image of a troll as someone who would show up here and completely rail against everything MAGA??? No one here, not a soul would fall for it. A troll will side with you on every issue and then try to convince you that the ULTIMATE Patriotic gesture would be to NOT VOTE REPUBLICAN.
There are people here now hammering away at Republicans to not vote for Oz in PA, Abbot in TX and Kemp in GA etc. etc.
“Rinos are WORSE than Democrats!”
Sure, that’s why in the 1st Impeachment Trial, Article 1, only Mitt Romney voted “Guilty”! 49 Republicans voted “Not Guilty”!
Every single Democrat … EVERY ONE voted “Guilty”!
This makes RINOs “worse” than Democrats???
Get enthusiastic, even for RINOs if that’s the Republican nominee.
Joseph Kennedy Sr. said something simple yet profound. Think on this: “Only a fool waits for the highest price.” We don’t have time to wait for perfect candidates.
The reason 49 Republicans voted not to impeach, was because they knew the prosecutors hadn’t made their case.
Impeachment is a POLITICAL, not legal process, and the real jury is therefore the American people.
So, lousy argument for voting for Weavils.
RINO=Republicam In Name Only i.e Democrat.
The perception USED to be that RINO referred to the likes of Collins, Murkowski and Romney.
Now, however most recognise McConnell, McCarthy, Graham, etc. are ALL RINOS that are fully on board with the ‘leftist’ agenda.
THEY greenlighted ‘the Insurance Policy’ plan, to drive PDJT from office, should he win.
THEY worked 24/7 to frustrate his America First agenda.
THEY have nothing but contempt for PDJT, and his supporters.
I have had it, with voting for the lesser of two weavils, and simply WILL NOT ever vote for a RINO, again.
McConnell was far more destructive and obstructive to PDJT, than Pelosi and Schumer.
Your lame, overused argument just doesn’t resonate, any more.
Its the vain denial of the mathematical certainty that a succession of “voting for the lesser of evils” gets you pure evil eventually…
Explain how McConnell was worse. I’d agree he was bad, but at least we got some good judges out of him. That’s probably all he did for conservatives. But if we had to have McConnell, it is better than Schumer any day.
I agree with you, I too am beyond tired of voting for the lesser of two weevils, but if you don’t have a choice of a MAGA conservative, 20% is still better than 0%.
I too will no longer vote for the lesser of two evils. I’m not sure I’ll vote in any national elections. I’ve been doing it for nearly all my life and I’m old.
My main reason for this is because the usurper was permitted by the institutions like elected Republicans, courts and military to seize power in a fraudulent election, I no longer have faith in the US government. I believe our only hope lies in red state governments allying with each other to form a new union that will ignore/override Federal authority. I cede DC to the libs and think our salvation can only come from secession/partition via negotiation or war. Continuing to allow a slow death won’t restore food to the empty shelves in the supermarket for my grandchildren or heat their homes.
Is it really possible to co-exist with people who won’t use coal to generate electricity, or allow farmers to grow food? Is it even a good idea to want to co-exist with them? Personally speaking, I no longer want to. Perhaps If I was younger I’d still be voting Republican.
Because when you LEAST expect it, McConnell will stab you in the back. I know where things stand with Schumer and his ilk. You have no idea what McConnell will do. Not knowing is worse.
I say we install DINOS to infiltrate those blue states that have zero Republican representation. That would be a fair turnabout, would it not?
How would the UNiparty handle rogue DINOS popping up like whack-a-moles to break ranks and accomplish a MAGA agenda?
I for one would love to see it.
The only reason I am a registered R is President Trump ran as an R and Florida has closed primaries. The Republicans much like the Healthcare system in this Country wouldn’t have pissed on my head if my hair were on fire and now they pretend to care.. It reminds me of the Janet Jackson song “What have you done for me lately??” Like someone else posted here, “The Republicans are there to protect the Demoncrats from us”..
“I have had it, with voting for the lesser of two weavils, and simply WILL NOT ever vote for a RINO, again.”
We get it.
You don’t understand who is responsible for the recent court decisions,
or don’t care.
McConnel, the GOP and the RINO gave us our conservative supreme court.
Pelosi and Schumer want to add judges to change the court into a nut ball majority .
THE GOP is the only thing stopping them.
The lesser of two evils, no contest really.
You are in the minority.
TRUMP wants the GOP to win and we will,
we don’t need your vote.
I’m not worried about winning,
but am concerned
with how much damage
Pelosi and Schumer can do to TRUMP and us before we win, again.
Is It Time for a National Divorce?
https://townhall.com/columnists/kurtschlichter/2022/07/14/is-it-time-for-a-national-divorce-n2610221
I’m for McConnahay…
Go eat some more San Pedro.
Just my opinion: I think Abbott will do exactly the correct things for Texas with the voters pushing him. With West breathing down his neck he pushed so many conservative issues and passed them it was almost shocking. The Texas House and Senate are conservative and want to pass MAGA. He needs help on border and energy, he will get that help with President Trump. President Trump is supporting him and he will do what he is told to do. AG Paxton is so impressive in his conservative views and actions.
I’m no troll. And I didn’t say I wouldn’t vote for Abbott. And I didn’t tell anybody not to vote for Abbott. I just said he is ripe for picking, which he is. He will get my vote, because I really have no other choice. However, he has not given me a reason to vote for him. He has done nothing on the border, except give some bus rides to Washington as a political stunt, nothing on our power grid after we all lost power for A WEEK. He called 3 special sessions this past legislature, and got nothing done in them, costing the taxpayers tons of money and displaying his poor leadership skills. He gets my vote because I have no other choice. In the primary, I thought Abbott was the weakest of the Republican Candidates. I voted for Huffines, who I believed who would have been a stronger candidate. Abbott is a RINO republican and will get my vote only because he has an R behind his name. Texas should and can do better than Abbott (and Cornyn)
Spot on. The rolling black outs were a lie.
We Floridians had Jeb!, the Party Fluid “Good Time Charlie” Crist, and Rick “Skeletor” Scott. “They” almost saddled us with Gillum. Y’all have had B,P and A, now “They” want to install Beta.. I am beginning to see a pattern…
Fox News viewers gave him a primary win over a conservative.
There are coal power plants. They didn’t use them in 2021 and people froze to death. Are they going to leave the plants idle and let people die of heat?
Maybe it’s time these enviro wackos be prosecuted for murder.
Uvalde police go first.
At a minimum, sentenced to hard labor waving Palm fans in front of those wind turbines during hours of peak demand. It is only fair.
Bingo!
Yup.
Stop the Crypto Data Mining right now.
It is taking all of the energy.
Turn off your phone.
Isn’t the clinical definition of insanity doing the exact same thing over and over and over, and expecting a different result?
CLINICAL definition? No, its a quote, from Einstien.
Clinical definition would surely include demonstrating, by word and action, a disconnect from reality,…declaring oneself is the Queen of England, or Napolean, or that your a woman when your obviously a man,…
Exhibiting by word and action, a disregard for or even willingness to harm self or others,…
So yes, the Globalists ARE “Clinically insane”, unfortunately the psychology profession has joined in on the insanity.
What happened to all that Texas Tea?
Safe underfoot for whoever outlives this madness.
They wouldn’t have to do this if they just stopped Crypto Data Mining.
shut the eff up.
Crypto is a ponzi scheme, period.
this is a serious disaster that WILL cause the unnecessary and avoidable deaths of many people.
that should be the first priority…and WE can help.
If you live in a region where the temp and apparent temp is very high, I would encourage you to check on your neighbors, especially those living in low income or fixed income and particularly the senior folks.
We are rapidly getting to the point where it will become necessary to get involved and help others who just do not have the ability financially or otherwise to survive these very hot days. This summer in particular will be especially harsh and unrelenting. We may get some relief with a few gulf basin storms that will bring rain but that also means flooding too…texas, louisiana in particular are in a text book drought.
During the aftermath of two back to back hurricanes here in Louisiana, entire neighborhoods had to hunker down and resolve to claw back to some sense of normalcy. This was through organization and mutual cooperation.
I’ve made many life long friends through that experience. And it feels good to help. It should. God did not create humans to be islands.
reach out…talk to your neighbors. Ask the questions…do you have good drinking water? food? Do you need a place to sleep or spend some time in a cool home? Can you help cook for my family? maybe do some laundry?
make it real, because this is very real for lots of people, and from what I am seeing it is not going to improve.
community…embrace it…one day, you’ll be in a situation…age…whatever…you’ll need the help. people remember.
God Bless America
The people who supplied the estimates of the amount of electricity TX was going to get from its windmills are the same people who came up with the original covid death rate of 10%.
Why do math when it’s so much easier to make up numbers on COVID, elections, Americans abandoned in Afghanistan, etc. etc.
90% of all statistics found on the internet are made up.
I have it on good ‘internet authority’ its precisely 89.625%
4 out of three people agree.
Did you make up that statistic?
How about the covid “vaccine” death rate?
Well, here in Southeast Tennessee we have the Sequoyah and Watts-Bar nuclear power plants. Just saying.
we are screwed if Texas is this screwed up. what an f*cking joke.
True.
Texas was suppose to be the be all end all state of prosperity and conservative success.
Now it appears to be turning into some kind of third world hell hole.
The Bushies and now Abbott.
Wind Energy: Legacy of waste, breathtaking stupidity
Germany began installing wind turbines in earnest some 20 years ago. Now that their life has been exceeded, many are being ripped down.
Used wind turbine blades have been designated hazardous waste and no one knows how to deal with them. “You need too much energy and power to shred them,” says Hans-Dieter Wilcken, the operator of a German recycling company. The problem with chopping them up is that dangerous carbon fiber particles are produced and pose a threat to human health
Currently, 30,000 wind turbines are in operation across Germany and many will have to be dismantled over the next 20 years. That volume alone means over a million tonnes of hazardous waste (30,000 turbines x 3 blades/turbine x 15 tonnes/blade = 1.35 million tonnes).
In the USA, Casper, Wyoming, is currently serving as a landfill for used blades
‘The wind turbine blade will be there, ultimately, forever,’ said Bob Cappadona, chief operating officer for the North American unit of Paris-based Veolia Environnement SA,
On top of the hazardous wind turbine blade waste, there’s also the problem of the massive steel-reinforced turbine foundations, which are simply being swept under a layer of dirt as well. These, too, will forever have an impact on ground and groundwater.
Future generations will wonder how dumb their ancestors must have been to opt for a form of energy that blighted the landscape, destroyed ecosystems over vast areas, killed avian wildlife, was an unreliable and expensive energy source, made nearby residents sick, and left millions and millions of tonnes of waste behind.
Never mind all the solar panel waste that is about to be added to that.
https://climatechangedispatch.com/germany-has-no-plan-to-recycle-wind-turbines-1-35m-tons-hazardous-waste/
Zounds. Astounding information. Seriously.
Thank you I wasn’t aware of the disposal issue with wind turbines.
This is what bugs me about alternative energy enthusiasts. They get all excited about solar and wind power but they never think through the cradle to grave production and waste processes. How much of the earth are we going to tear up to make all these batteries – that run on fossil fuel? How much of the earth do we tear up for solar panels that last 10 years? What do we do with all the waste generated by the mining and smelting of the ores needed for these energy materials? What are we doing with all the waste from the spent wind turbines, solar cells and batteries? At least with fossil fuels, you get gases that are either relatively harmless to put into the air (CO2) or can usually be scrubbed out (nitric oxides).
Well, remember when they tried/removed/changed the make up of asthma inhalers? To save the planet?
I thought those turbine blades lasted forever. I had no idea about their disposal.
A day or two ago, there were lots of posts regarding the wind energy…I may have missed anything related to the turbine blades.
I was focused on the agricultural real estate that had been taken out of the ‘production’ line while adding grassy areas in need of ‘turf management’.
A quick googledeegoo shows that the blades last 20-30 years, depending on who you read.
A windmill meets its carbon footprint in six months.
Here is the goody:
“How much oil is used in a wind turbine?”
“Each wind turbine needs 80 gallons of oil as lubricant and we’re not talking about vegetable oil, this is a PAO synthetic oil based on crude… 12,000 gallons of it. That oil needs to be replaced once a year. It is estimated that a little over 3,800 turbines would be needed to power a city the size of New York…Feb 26, 2021″ (courtesy of Google).
Why would anyone want to replace the concrete foundations or the towers themselves that the turbines rest in? I can see replacing the turbines and the blades. Couldn’t the turbines be taken out, rebuilt, and re-installed later on? The blades might be utilized when cut up into retaining walls, pavement, warehouse walls etc?
Maybe someday if sanity ever returns, these windmill foundations and the towers could have housing units installed at their tops.
I think, all things being equal, the refurbishment of the windmill gearboxes and generators would be very economically feasible. Perhaps there are other undisclosed “financial” incentives involved here, huh?
The photovoltaic side is a slam-dunk FRAUD; the energy producing output during its 20 yr lifespan will never equal the input energy for their manufacture plus cost of disposal. The numerous subsidies for them is merely an attempt to solve the universal problem ALL counterfeiters have-getting that “funny money” out into circulation…only this time for our favorite counterfeiter: The Federal Reserve Bank, Treasury Dept., and our spendthrift corrupt denizens of D.C. and elsewhere.
Steve, I encourage you to repeat and expand on this subject. Most people do not even understand the underlying fundamental issues with “solar”. I think many people benefit from getting the science and the economic realities about solar (we can tackle EV cars separately, but it closes matches the similar critiques and flaws)
I have also done the research on my own and yes, even in nearly perfect lab settings, the amount of energy required to produce one single panel of cells (that is the TOTAL amount of energy from mining, to refinement, to tooling, to fab, to shipping, to installation, to maintenance, to repair, and all of the other “hidden” infrastructure energy costs (some policy virtual and some fungible), this energy exceeds the practical life span of PV cells for almost every single application. For very very large industrial applications, scale MIGHT help bring this to parity or possible even economically sound, but right now, the whack a mole roullete method of productions is no where near the scale where the economics works out.
Please expand on your thoughts and research. It does help others to form a solid basis for decisions making and also to notice which politicos are complete jackwagons and which are competent. (I argue the politicos and a misinformed public are most of society’s problems regarding energy (and other issues))
the grifters know about these issues and conceal them because they are heavily invested in the “green” energy sectors and stand to make a fortune.
The politicos just are not competent or reliable to have the competency because of these obvious conflicts.
as they say, it has become a nightmare cult that will result in incredible wastes of resources and ruin lives, for many generations unless an effort is made to expose these projects, turn on the sunlight and most importantly provide real science that is unimpeachable about what can be done properly to resolve energy problems.
How about making a border wall out of turbine blades?

If the infrastructure is not in place in the energy grid for transformational change, it cannot take place.
If the IDIOT environmentalists want solar and wind power to be a significant contribution to the energy grid, the infrastructure to STORE their intermittent energy inputs must be a part of the transformational change.
This has not happened. These f’ing idiots keep adding “green” energy sources to the grid with no storage infrastructure and no additional power carrying capacity for the massive new additional load of electric vehicles.
Nobody is more ignorant about actual science and technology that climate change activists and politicians.
We are in a situation of the blind leading the MSM brainwashed clueless zombies.
I am scared of the outcome, but I keep trying to go back to faith in Christ to find peace. I am finding it hard these days.
And everyone’s either moving to, or sneaking into, Texas.
I fail to understand where the power, water, and food is supposed to come from.
The good news is, we here in America, will likely be the last to feel the effects of all this;
and at the lowest rate of austerities.
90% of the world is gonna get hurt worse than we will.
Thats my imo.
We are still a hegemon, apex nation.
Actually, we should be the last to feel of the effects of anything negative in the world. But with Biden as president, we are probably going to get it sooner and harder than most of the world.

Crypto mining is an exercise in absurdity. It’s a huge Ponzi scheme. Yes, the first people in made tons of money. Everyone else made some money but now it’s cratering. I mean seriously, you’d pay $18,000 for a digital “coin” based on blockchain technology. There is no “there” there.
Buy physical assets or commodities. Yes, you won’t get “rich”, but you will preserve some of your wealth.
Yup.
That’s why I said that it is too hot to Crypto Mine in Texas…
Actually, with a small adjustment to your advice, this is a wealth creator. Buy something that produces something.
Farmland, energy-production tech (starting with oil) or farm machinery, canning machines, brick-making ovens, sawmills, even ordinary mechanical tKing.
Productivity is king.
What you’ve described is a classic definition of capitalism.
It’s growth is what determines all “standards of living growth”.
Productivity in this nation has been declining or moribund for decades now!
the definitions have changed also …consumerism is now being evaluated as “production” for many corporate filings.
it’s insane.
Is it too hot for Texans to protest?
Too much of THIS:
DESTRUCTION of a still serviceable power plant because it didn’t meet NEW & STUPID EPA REGS.
That plant burned gas normally and heavy fuel oil as backup would have been nice to have in FEB 2021.
OR build a new combined cycle plant on the site, instead the land was donated to the City of Dallas for the white rock trail earlier this year.
Bet they ain’t clapping now.
They are going to kill us one way or another. It is just that simple.
By “they” you mean our fellow Americans. Here’s another example of who our fellow Americans are:
“But the bigger challenge is in the rest of the exchange, where the suicidality of people who identify as trans is cast as entirely the fault of a society that has “denialism” in it. This is an astonishing claim given the fact that people who have come to believe that their identity and their body are in some way “mismatched” would, presumably, experience some level of psychic torment no matter how understanding and supportive the rest of society was. When the reality of what is called “gender-affirming care” — the experimental use of hormones or surgeries that create nonfunctional simulations of the opposite gender’s genitalia (often requiring repeated surgeries throughout all of life to maintain) — is added to this turmoil, it sure seems as if it is the gender ideologue who is the denialist, and who is partly responsible for the suicidality of people who suffer from gender dysphoria.
It is on this ground that we must fight back. The rote and ritualistic recitation of trans suicide rates, and the scapegoating of nonbelievers and dissenters for these suicides, amounts to a sinister homily. It is Bridges who is encouraging suicide by casting it as an act of quasi-martyrdom. The suicide becomes the testimony to the wickedness of the deniers; that is the public meaning she allows for it. She’s trying to give a pro-social meaning to an act of personal despair and vindictiveness. The more suicides there are, the more condemned stand the deniers.”

Why do we still believe it’s a good idea to live in the same country as these people? It’s time for a divorce.
When will well funded Conservative groups begin fighting back against the Climate doom theories instead of just reacting to their lead?
In 1886 Canada, 5 fed gov’t funded Experimental Farms were set up in 5 provinces to determine what crops the various soils could grow. The farm later added livestock, entomology etc.
One of these original farms in B.C., recorded climate data from 1892 onward. They likely had the best accurate instruments to record temperatures over time and also no reason to fudge any figures. J.J. Woods’ book on “The Agassiz-Harrison Valley” (1941) includes a section on the Experimental farm where he worked as a Horticulturist and it includes temperature, rainfall, sunshine data etc. from 1889-1941.
I did not see any rise in overall temperatures to today. There were extreme hot temperatures including the first mention on July 1898 of the temp lingering over 100 degrees and in August 1898 when the temperature reached 103 degrees. The author also noted that “occurrences of over 95 degrees are too numerous to record.”
All of the hottest temperatures recorded at the farm would be considered evidence of climate doom today. The “heat dome anomaly” that hit the west coast and NWT in 2021, reached temperatures that exceeded the early records by one or 2 degrees but that was only for a week and due to Jet Stream positioning and other variable factors. But all the other sweltering days today are typical of the past in this valley at least.
But Texas is planning to put electric car chargers every 50 miles on their main highways. That will help their ESG score.
Some parts of Texas do not have gas stations every 50 miles, especially on Interstate 10 from Junction to El Paso through the Davis Mountains.

The Green Hell Agenda, aka Build Back Better, aka The Green New Deal are an evil political correct/cultural marxist SELF INFLICTED ENERGY CRISIS.
FJB/LGB
“Call me Captain Obvious, but in addition to the population migration, it looks like Texas imported California’s energy policies. ”
P Trump’s Energy Secretary, Rick Perry used to brag effusively about how much Texas reduced its carbon emissions when he was Governor. Nature’s uncertainties were not sufficiently factored in once again. Just wait until the “Tyranny of the Minority” converts the entire Western world to Green, to Wokeness etc.
Hopefully, the too Quiet majority is almost ready to oppose the minority that push all the major agendas.
Judging by what is happening, it appears that ERCOT has been infiltrated and controlled by the CCP and are working to destroy the great state of Texas.
Here are my recommendations:
I agree with you! The people that caused this problem need to be questioned and let’s hear what they have to say as to why they made the decisions they did. We need the truth!
Native Texan here.
One thing you have to realize about Republicans from Texas is that for the most part, they are Bush type Republicans. Most are Mild, inoffensive let’s all be nice types.
If they come from the Houston area that’s Bush territory.
Not the kind you want to be in charge in tough times.
Our politicians here used to be tough business types that came from the oilfield and other manufacturing areas.
Now it’s just lawyer types who dont know anything about the energy business.
Gigantic embarrassment that my state is suffering ANY type of energy problem.
Ercot members that live in other states and Europe. Unbelievable.
I voted for West but he got skunked.
Remember when you folks always say you get what you vote for when you’re talking about California or NY?
Well, look in the mirror because your elected representatives ain’t that great.
I now officially mock you, ridicule you, and LOL you.
To paraphrase an old maxim—First the Biden regime came for the Texans, but I did nothing. Then the Biden regime came for me…
I wonder how many radical left dim communists have these same “inside” arguments?

100% avoidable. I feel for the residents who froze when the windmills did, and who are facing more unnecessary suffering–
yet similar to false flags, the feeling of anger is hard not to have since NONE of this has to happen.
The first step should be to require all those involved in making wind power such an important part of Texas’s energy production to take up large Palm fans, and get busy in front of those wind turbines waving energetically
especially during daylight hours when the energy demand is highest. It is only fair.
45th President of the USA is right again. I love when he is at his rallies and he jokes about not being able to watch TV because the wind is not blowing.
I bet the AC is working fine in Saudi Arabia.
Yes it is.

What is going on with Texas? They have horrendous energy policy. Have they not learned from the previous winter episode, to be prepared and have many means to keep the lights on?
The same thing that happened to CA happened to Texas.
The communists infiltrated the vote counting bureaucracy and have been zeroing out citizen votes and selecting democrat and RINO candidates for quite a while.
It pisses me off when conservatives post comments that Californians deserve what we voted for, such as Newsome and Pelosi.
We Californians have been voting these communists out for at least 2 decades, but the vote counters have been selecting the criminals to represent us.

“However, on a positive note, their state ESG score is improving.”
A rising ESG score is a good indicator that an organization is being influenced by saboteurs, run by idiots, and is heading into the toilet.
UN can sort it out, who’d have thunk it
UNsustainable energy, UNsustainable power generation, UNsustainable policies.

seems like it would be just the place for people to start proposing the Small Modular Reactors. the biden nuclear regulatory commission would never approve of them though.
remember, this isn’t an accident. it’s punishment. they are convinced we’re evil and deserve to be punished. every action that they have taken that doesn’t make sense becomes clear once you understand that one motive.
David Murray is the 8-Bit-Guy on YouTube. Some of you old-school computer geeks might know him. He’s one of my favorites.
He lives in Texas. He recently made a video about how he plans to handle the next power outage. You might find this very informative, if not intriguing. You might this foolish. Maybe both.
You do realize that he brags about supporting the problem. Even considers wind as the solution.
As an aside, my uncle lives near Houston and has had many opportunities to use his generator. Even provides power to his neighbors in the aftermath of emergencies. Which seem to happen quite a lot.
These things don’t always fit into his type of cost/benefit analysis or how long does it take to pay itself off?
So what does it take to do it right, can I afford it, and how likely am I to need it?
No, I didn’t realize that. I should have mentioned something about being foolish.
Most of the wind generation is in West Texas. During storm Uri they also got about 1% of their generation from wind as it didn’t show up. So, how did all this happen? All those wind generators received production tax credits from the Feds. That was about $15/MWhr. In other words, those generators can run at a loss (and do in many cases) because they will always be paid. Because they are getting those tax credits they are replacing peaker units with onsite storage (Coal, oil) forcing them into retirement. So, you are replacing baseload fossil fuel assets with more intermittent generation. This is happening all over the country, but especially on the coasts. This is what happens when you allow politicians to have too much influence over the energy markets. This same thing is happening through the state RPS programs where they are forced to buy a percentage of their generation from “renewable” resources. The more intermittency we add to the generation system the more risk we’re at. So now people should wonder. If we are running all these intermittent assets, who runs in sync with them to ramp up and down as they do? If you guessed fossil fuels assets go collect your prize. This is a disaster waiting to happen. By the time the reasonable minds prevail it will take ten years to fix all this nonsense.
“ERCOT began paying suppliers an average of $5,000 per magawatt hour.”
Make America’s power production great again!
It seems like the Republican Party in Texas is intentionally trying to fail.
We have waaaay too many RINOs in our state! And when you point it out to the locals, you get set upon by a fury only a Texan can muster up. (I do it anyway—with a smile and even a smirk when called for.). Until true Conservatives get a grip on our state Legislature nothing is going to change.
Why do they get so angry? What specifically do they say?
Green Energy , Windmill and Solar is nothing but a wealth transfer scam. Trillions of Dollars have funded this scam, however the rates go up. How is this relief?
BBB, Green Energy, Obama Care, Covid Zero, CO2 Zero, Forever Wars, all scams to bilk you of our tax dollars. Yet these lunitic polititians keep get voted in and ”Conservatives” like, Kev, China Mitch, Mittens, Ms Linsey, Cornyn Dog vote for what ever the Left wants.
I am all in for DC Zero, get them all out and start over.
We’re paying over 50% more than we were this time year down here. And what’s funny is not one article on any of the news sites down here will admit that the windmills are part of the cause. They all point to higher CNG prices, labor shortages, and even “the war in Ukraine”. The media is desperate to conceal the fact that renewable energy is simply not feasible. As a boost to the existing system, maybe. But as a core component when demand is high, it’s impractical. The only place even mentioning it is CTH. Kudos for saying the quiet parts (that we all know, and THEY all know) out loud.
Where’s the modern King Canute to command the wind to blow and the sun to shine to increase the “renewable” energy on the grid for the sake of an example?
The true believers in the “green” energy future need to be chastised, endlessly.
I got my warning from ERCOT today. I answered with an eye roll after living in Texas most of my life. You can only depend on yourself, your family, neighbors, and congregation. I thought I took direct steps In moving over certain county lines until my new US Rep admitted to having an affair with a woman called “The Bride of ISIS” that lives 20 minutes down the road. I know, it sounds fantastic. But that is today’s world. Taking care of each other is what the settlers did long before big gubmint came along to mess it up. Reach out a helping hand if someone is in need.
Not ERCOT, but EGCOT: Electric GRIFTING Council of Texas.
