You do not need anyone to affirm that Main Street is in trouble, you can see it all around you. Inflation is crushing blue-collar and white-collar workers as prices continue to rise on essential goods. Consumer spending is now prioritized around the higher cost of housing, energy, gasoline and food. Family earnings are spent before the paychecks arrive for most Main St workers, and now we are starting to see the alarming result economic contraction, beginning with small businesses.
That’s the message within the ADP private sector payroll report released today [DATA HERE], which shows a contraction in small business employment. Economists were looking for private payroll increases in the 300,00 range; but the result was far lower at 128,000. Small businesses lost 91,000 jobs in May. Main Street is in trouble.
WASHINGTON, June 2 (Reuters) – U.S. private payrolls increased far less than expected in May, which would suggest demand for labor was starting to slow amid higher interest rates and tightening financial conditions, though job openings remain extremely high.
Private payrolls rose by 128,000 jobs last month, the ADP National Employment Report showed on Thursday. Data for April was revised down to show 202,000 jobs added instead of the initially reported 247,000. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast private payrolls increasing by 300,000 jobs. The hurricane is at our doorstep.
And yet after today’s market explosion higher, I see that Wall Street still believes Powell will be forced to back down. The worse the news, the higher the market goes. Bad economic news is a bottle rocket for stocks once again. It was ever thus.
No complaints about the market today but no explaining it either.
The fact that Wall Street is so disconnected from Main Street is one of the main reasons why the political elite are able to maintain their power.
So glad, Levi. I think it’s a simple matter. My view is that is the WS is daring Powell in the face of terrible economic news which will only get worse to keep raising interest rates, which they’re betting he won’t.
Powell and certain Fed presidents have indicated they will do absolutely that (headfake?). Who blinks first?
The highest of high stakes poker games. I’m watching from the sidelines.
And I believe that is a very astute synopsis. ZeroHedge had a good article today on that point. Smart money is now out of the market (IMO). My position is mostly smart, partially not. Still have some I am going to ride out not matter and some (safe?) value stocks with high yields. The rest is parked elsewhere
I’m not rooting for a market collapse but I’m not wagering on it not collapsing (24K is one estimate I’ve read).
It’s all guesswork in the end. The market will not go up forever, as history records. It will fall at some point, though by how much is anyone’s guess. Sort of like End Times…it will happen but no one knows when. And like End Times, there will be no warning. I’m happy you’re doing well, Levi. Blessings as always.
I wouldn’t call that a collapse since that is where it should be. A collapse would be if the DJIA went below 10,000.
<10,000 would be catastrophic and not just to main street.
Some say we will see another 40% decline in mkt. Maybe they are the short sellers.
Some say the mkt. will rally to new highs. Maybe the pump and dump crowd.
Some say the mkt. will trade sideways for months. The middle of the roaders.
Jamie Dimon says a month ago he saw a financial storm on the horizon. Now he sees a hurricane.
Groceries are double to triple what they were 6 months ago. 8% inflation my ass. Considering the package size has shrunk 25% and prices double or triple, we are seeing 100%-2oo% inflation in the grocery stores. All the off brand cheaper items are usually out of stock and they have also increased by 100% in price.
Everything, not counting groceries has increased by at least 50%. And when the spring planted crops of grain are harvested this fall and make their way through the supply chain, you are going to see prices doubled from where they are now.
Also, Hormel today stating there will be a shortage of Turkeys for thanksgiving. I don’t think he was referring to the turkeys in DC, cause there will never be a shortage of those SOB’s.
We are buying our thanksgiving meal items now. Bought some of the items today. Walmart only had the most expensive brand of cranberry sauce in stock and only had 3 cans of that. Tells me people are planning ahead.
As well they should plan ahead. You are wise. By that time the midterms might be over. I say “might” because there is now an unfortunate trend of not releasing results in some states, vote manipulation, recounts, extending the day of voting for many days after.
And while a RINO victory in both houses is not hugely reassuring, the alternative will tell us how much further and how fast into the sceptic tank we all will be headed. Happy pre-Thanksgiving by the way😉
😊 😊 Thanks and back at ya.
😁 Thank you!
It is good that people are planning ahead for financial difficulties but I am a bit saddened that the talk is mostly about tips on how to tighten the belt instead of really doing something and fighting back.
Is no one upset that our elected officials are doing this to us on purpose?
Is it time to “Storm the Bastille yet”?
Or are we just going to take it and take it and take it?
I’m upset.
IF one were going to “storm the Bastille,” one would be aware that the only secure communications are paper notes courired rather than mailed and that historicly 1 to 2 out of every 3 revolutionaries are government spies.
This changes only when some absolutely intolerable government demarch activates a huge number of people at the same time and a snowball becomes an avalanche.
Contact your local friendly congressional or senate district and volunteer for something. There are so many things that can be fun family things like literature stuffing and drops. Take the kids for a few hours a week, help stuff door bags, and go hang them on doors. You get to meet like minded people, it’s easy, you get a little exercise, and can be as little as as 4 hours during the week.
All the candidates need so many things there is always something to help with. Pick one and get out there. I started about a year ago and I have met so many others that are new to volunteering. 50-70% of republican convention goers are first time.
I am doing that with items I need for Christmas cookies.
Brown and Confectioners sugar, Chocolate chips. Kisses
everything except the perishable like butter and eggs.
You can put some butter in the freezer and buy dried eggs just in case.
We are having Thanksgiving in Mexico on the beach! Thd best turkey tacos are in the Yucatan!
MX can F right off. They make bank funneling millions of unwanted pukes into this country to destabilize and destroy it. FMX. So hard.
Big mistake! Buying that pre-made cranberry sauce I mean. Make your own from fresh and you’ll never look back.
The Fed Can’t raise rates because the higher interest rates will cause US debt interest payments to store.
And doing so won’t stop inflation anyway…. Especially inflation caused by a stupid war against one of the world’s largest oil producers and in the heart of Asia’s bread basket.
Wanna stop inflation. End the war and of course, Drill baby drill.
Our population has doubled since the last refinery was built. Cut the bloody red tape and build more refineries.
What’s that saying that the market can stay irrational longer than you can solvent?
In order to Build Back Better you must necessarily destroy it first.
That’s kind of how I see the intentional destruction working out. Cause enough misery that the people will beg for mercy. Bingo, bango, here comes the reset.
Cloward-Piven.
A long, long time ago when I was in college, Mark Rudd came to our school to speak. He was out of Columbia university and later was part of Obama admin. He gave a talk about how US was so unfair, blah, blah, blah and we should tear down everything and build it back better. As the daughter of an electrician and granddaughter of a carpenter, I looked at him and thought….”You couldn’t build so much as a dog house” and I blew him off as crazy..
i never dreamt that my grandchildren would be “ruled” by these idiots.
I had an International Pol Sci professor say two important things that stuck:
God Bless your Father and Grandfather Greenidgypsy.
Maybe your grandchildren will have the good sense of both of them to send the idiots like the Mark Rudds packing and save our beautiful Country.
There is always hope.
We haven’t seen anything yet. A lot of low income wage earners and also middle class wage earners are paying for their gas and food using credit cards. Wait until they can’t pay them back. Wait until people can’t afford to pay their mortgages. I don’t know how these people can afford to put gas in their cars and go to work. Gas here in Florida jumped 25Cents a gallon in 2 days and is now $4.75 a gallon. I believe a depression is about to hit us.
Maybe Joe will forgive their debt too.
All of us who either have children not included in his buyout of young voters or you, yourself are not included because of some arbitrary conditions set to who will benefit should sue the government. They will discriminate against many of us. And, we should also demand they pay our mortgages off….screw FJB.
I believe that, also. I retired this past fall because I refused to get the clot shot mandated for all healthcare workers. Now, I’m seeing my modest 401k decrease daily. Yes, for me it will be an actual depression.
I feel sick when I think of the people who have mortgages and car payments; and up here in the North East, we’ll be huddled in our homes wearing coats and hats come winter. And the Southerners will be forced to swelter this summer due to the cost of AC, and even the electricity to operate fans. This is SO sick and evil.
In the meantime, the Joebama regime will continue to ship aid to Ukraine AND forgive college loan debt. Despicable.
And export Oil & Gas to Europe.
Very well said, rita. Every last word of it.
Assuming there is a electric available to run things.
I have five grown son’s, all married, and 13 grandchildren.
They are now part of the hardworking “silent majority” who are livid and very very angry with what is happening to their lives and their children’s future.
We hear a lot about the illegals and the welfare gimmidats, but we hear very little about the group of young hard working adults age 20 to 45.
There are a lot of them who are just about ready to blow a gasket and when they do things will change.
These are young strong healthy people who are strong warrios.
They are white, black, latino and asian citizens who love America and are sick and tired of the way things are going.
Not every one here is happy about gay pride and open borders and covid lockdowns the way the msm portrays the countries “mood”.
I am not sure how the 2022 elections will pan out, but I am sure that if they are messed with there will be some kind of uprising that will set DCs head on a pike.
Pretty much nothing happened after 2020.
One of the things I have done is put up a clothesline. Last month it seemed to make a nice difference in my electric bill, but am waiting to judge more about that this month. It’s not a lot more work, but then a clothesline was the only dryer I knew in my earlier life.
i run the dryer for 20 minutes or so to make towels softer then hang on clothes rack in warmest room to finish drying also i shake all clothes as it seems to speed drying
I remember, back in the 50’s when my parents moved into a new subdivision nearly every house in it had a cement slab in the back yard with a four or five wire clothesline. Mom had a dryer but only used it on rainy days in winter; else everything was dried on the clothesline.
I do the same thing today with a rope stretched between to patio posts to catch the sun and wind. Nothing nice but it works for one. Haven’t had LP for about five months, no money for it, and the dryer runs on LP. One thing I do is tumble the clothes in the dryer on air fluff to soften them. Line drying can make things a bit stiff.
I still use the old canvas and metal frame rolling laundry basket my mom used in the 50’s-up. Nothing goes to waste.
Good luck, Belle! We are sisters under the skin! Is there anything like sleeping on line-dried sheets?!
As soon as I moved into my present home, I had clothes lines installed in the yard: one of my small retirement dreams of a lifetime. Every time I hung my washing out, I’d spend lots of time gazing at the sky, reminiscing about the “Ideals” magazine my Mother always read to us as soon as it came. A little slice of heaven in those world class photographs of the simple things in life!
My lines are still up (actually braided steel cables meant for dog runs–wet sheets and bathroom rugs are heavy!! 😎 ), but I sadly bowed to prudence a while ago: W & D in the basement; treacherous access by narrow, twisted, stairs; and my dwindling capacity to lift weight.
Eventually I began to notice blobs of lint showing up on lots of items. Frequent cleaning of the washer itself was recommended, along with the observation that one of the distinct disadvantages of line drying is its failure to remove lint.
This may not be your experience Belle, but just in case, you’ll know what to do. Meanwhile, enjoy your little slice of heaven! I’ll be thinking of you when I take my sheets out of the dryer. 😉
Before I retired 3 years ago, I spent about $150/week on fuel and about $3000 every winter for heat(6 months of cold weather). I can’t even imagine spending $300/week on gas plus double the fuel cost for winter heat plus another 20%+ on increased electricity costs.
The Green New Deal requires that severe energy conservation measures be imposed for it to achieve its 2030 and 2035 GHG emission reduction goals.
Those targets can’t be met unless America consumes half as much energy in the year 2030 as we did in the year 2020, less than that in the year 2035.
The quickest way to do that is to double, and eventually to triple, the cost of all forms of energy — gas, diesel, fuel oil, and electricity.
And seniors on social security (hand raised).
Depression was my mood at Sam’s meat counter today. We are at the OMG phase with more to come, I agree I don’t see how a lot of folks are going to make it.
I’ve got a couple pictures for you from Eastern Market, *the* market to go to in the Capitol area of D.C. Note the prices. This was a month ago. Compare to your area. I was shocked at how low the prices were. There were plenty of others but don’t want to clog with images….
Less than here in CT. Pork spare ribs are at least double the price here….if not triple if you go the Fresh Market or the other woke supermarket that South Park made fun of.
For the complete experience, and corroboration, and IMO excellent content if wanting to know what’s going on in D.C. day to day on the streets, check out this channel, handle Penguin Six.
I haven’t figured out if he’s a lawyer or former .gov guy of some sort but he sure knows his way around the cracks of D.C. and how the government works there. Timestamp to the market part but the whole video is worth a look IMO.
ETA, it appears the timestamp isn’t resolving to food part in the embedded video so go to about 4 minutes 25 seconds for that.
When moms figure out that gas prices and daycare are more than their income, they will quit. Consumer spending will go way down and we will have a recession. Businesses will cut back to save themselves and until there is a political change of leadership that is actually trying to help America, it won’t get better.
I don’t care what you think about voting, RINO’s, and weak republicans, majorities in the house and senate along with your state legislatures will control the committees and legislation and investigations, and is the only way for America to recover. Joe can not do anything at this point to change anything so let’s get enough pain going so that people learn. Hate to say it but prepare and bring it on.
Yup,…”How much worse?”
WAY worse.
Analogy of “a Hurricane” falls down, on numerous fronts.
A hurricane is a NATURAL event, and typically only get 5-10 days warning.
And to a degree, the Federal Govt, thru FEMA, leads the recovery.
This economic storm is being deliberately, for no good reason, causes BY the Federal govt, and it has no intention of directing any recovery.
And now you know why POTATUS is going on T.V. tonight to yammer on about guns… “Change of plans!”, says the White House.
I hadn’t seen that…here come his unconstitutional “executive” orders.
When do patriotic forces stop this treason?
They can’t.
UniParty Control.
Backed by the Complicit Bureaucracy.
Backed by the Compromised Courts.
Sole Solution:
General Strike.
MANY months of pain before the People “get it”.
MANY more months before the People “do it”.
I’ve been pushing for a National strike for at least 6 months. Now, not when the wind blows with Chinese and Russian fallout.
Totally agree BKR
I think things need to get REALLY painful before folks in the U.S. will commit to that en mass. We’re not France or Italy, culturally speaking… and we’re not quite at the Greece level of economic failure… or, God forbid, Venezuela… but we certainly seem to be on that trajectory…
Atlas shrugged.
IF we get to the point of gun forfeiture/seizure then MAYBE we will see a serious attempt by The People. But forces rising on economic destruction? Not likely. Based on the economic destruction we could see chaos and crime within communities but not against those responsible.
I’m 61.
Never before have I experienced so much money being sucked out my business and my pocket so fast.
There are a very small number of people who are getting extremely wealthy.
What a disaster this stolen election has become.
Truly a disaster. I live in a small town and we had a lot of small businesses go out of business due to the Covid shutdowns and restrictions. I expect more of the same, now. Too bad we do not have anybody in congress to rise up against this destruction.
If they want to look at mental health issues in the country, they should start with the effects of the bogus lockdowns on people’s psyche. It’s been devastating, I’m sure
Rita,
You’ve never written anything more true. There isn’t one politician in DC I would trust as far as I could throw the White House. They are all either America’s internal enemies or bought off RINOS. I don’t have any leftists in my life because I cut them all off years ago, but the people I do know who comment on politics express little but a weary contempt with the whole corrupt system.
I think I can say this with certainty: if a nuclear weapon hit DC tomorrow, the response would not be nearly as patriotic as was the response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. People simply don’t view this government as either honest or pro-American. If something bad befell them sympathy would be in very short supply
Boom times at the welfare office.
All those black female government clerks, who cheated their brains out to get Biden elected in 2020, knew they picked a winner!
My April sales -25% May sales -70%
That’s terrible! So sorry
Sorry to hear that.
I am so sorry! I am praying for you and your family. God will see us all through this.
You have two choices.. You can cater to big business or big government. They will be the last options standing. Good luck.
Isn’t it time for our underground economy?
Some would say it is past time.
I cannot believe it hasn’t happened already, but so much and so many have learned dependence and fear.
When nothing’s left … General Strike.
awaiting instructions and when since we must save ourselves and give them PAIN
I’m sorry – what industry sector ?
Yeah. Starving small business people will go on strike?
Unemployment will soon be as scarce as Bill Clinton ex-girlfriends.
Computer repair and sales. May is always slow since the snowbirds go back up north but this is extreme.
I have been subsidizing my local computer repair person, though it was painful.
Nick, so sorry to hear that. I’ve been there too, 2008-2010 housing collapse was devastating to my small business.
The Democrats are on the expressway, the glide path to a one party State. Small business people mostly vote Republican.
Suburbanites mostly vote Republican. You can, but you won’t have the gasoline to make it home.
No force required if they can starve you out.
I saw a cartoon the other day of a bus driven by Old Joe full of screaming passengers going over a cliff, on the side of the bus in large letters was a sign that said “RIDEN WITH BIDEN”.
Revised down. The Democrat mantra. Soon to be replaced with, “help is on the way, we promise”. Hold on folks, the next four years are going to be miserable.
Nope! God is in charge!! 🙏🙏🙏
(3) local family run iconic restaurants in trouble here in Western Waukesha Co. Not because of the lack of customers! There are no workers!! One Owner told us he works 7 days a week, 14 hours/day. Not sustainable. The other (2) Main Street bar and grills can only operate 3 days a week. Can’t find people.
Well, they are being paid well to stay home. It’s easy to renew unemployment and welfare at the moment. Very easy. One of my wife’s friend’s boyfriends does it every 7.5 months right now. He finds a job. Works it for a few weeks…does something to get let go and then goes and applies for unemployment. Based on my observations his unemployment lasts approximately 6 months right now. (During 2020, early 2021, he never even had to renew it…it just kept on coming). Then he does it all again. Right now he’s working but has already said “I don’t see this lasting.” Which means he will not be working soon and he will start the cycle again.
Unemployment is based on earnings. You may requalify but eventually lack of earnings over the base period will bite you.
So far, it has not bit him. But, that was while they lived in CT. As I mentioned I think a few comments down he is now in Indiana I am interested in seeing if this is able to continue.
Unless there is a fed funded money going in, the system is designed not to go bankrupt. Typically, there is a cap on benefits and making more money does not entitle you to higher benefits. Ultimately, they will look at your earnings over the base period to determine you benefit amount. Small earnings means small check.
Obviously, welfare has become an excellent career choice for Democrats!
I was involved in a business whereby I questioned why ex employees in the shop
who were fired because they didn’t come to work were getting unemployment.
I called up the employment office and I was told, “Don’t waste your time fighting
it, honey; everyone gets approved for unemployment”. Illinois
I laughed reading your comment. For two reasons:
If she doesn’t find a new boyfriend, she’s going to be REAL sorry someday. I would be unbelievably ashamed if I had raised a boy like that.
She doesn’t care. My wife has brought it up to her so many times. As have other friends. It’s sad. She has worked hard. Raised three kids (last one graduated HS with my youngest son in 21’). She has rose up the career ladder. She makes well into the six figures and this is the man she decided to shack up with after she divorced her husband.
He drives her car. He has no possessions of his own (except the clothes on his back, his grinder, his papers, and his bong). They just moved to Indiana (her daughter goes to a prominent private Indiana university that’s part of the BIG, so she moved to take advantage of the in state tuition staring this fall).
This dude has found the ultimate sugar mama. He has her credit card. He has her bank card. Both copies but he has his own. And, when it’s brought up- she adamantly states “I’m happier now than I have ever been.” I constantly tell my wife “Dude must be able to tell the temperature of the urinal water when he wipes it out…”
All I can think about while writing this comment, cuz it’s playing in my head is the song from Dierks Bentley “What WAs I Thinkin’”
Sounds like she was lonely and adopted an adult child.
Thanks for the laugh because of course I knew you meant whips not wipes!!
Jealous much?🤠
I thought that was changed in trumps time? Guess FJB culled they back too
I can’t speak to that aspect. I can only speak to what I have seen him do.
Very soon they won’t be able to find customers.
After paying for food, mortgage, utilities, gas for auto, etc. few will have money for
restaurants, airlines, hotels, new clothing, shoes, new furniture, new auto, new anything
unless it is necessary for some reason.
Knick knacks for your home decor? NO. Garage sales? Perhaps
Until they get their government cryptocurrency then there will be no money for garage sales or sending to the grandkids. It will only be your crypto card you can use and that they will track. Goodbye to another American pastime and way to make ends meet or repurposing things to save mother earth that they clammer on about but in reality, their policies do earth more damage.
Wish I could send my boys there to work. I’d like them to work with businesses who we really can support, but none is 18 yet, so they have to figure out how to prove to busy potential employers that they may be teenagers but are responsible.
Line them up and tell the potential employers one son can work 4 hours in the AM and another son can work 4 hours in the PM. If you have 3 sons, then the last one can work 4 hours in the evening.
I’ve seen places cut back on days open due to the same
North central WI, Culvers announced no open dining inside, Monday thru Thursday. Lack of workers.
I would like to ask a serious question. I believe that if you work a full time job in this country you should be able to afford to put a stable roof over your head and food on your table. Now granted depending on what you do for work should gauge the lifestyle. As far as I know that always been the unspoken social contract between the employee and employer. If your business big or small can’t pay that why should I work for you and why would you be allowed to stay in business?
As a business owner, I can only pay you the value your time adds to my business. If that is not enough for you to have the lifestyle you want, you have three choices: find a place to work where what you do has more value, increase your value, or accept that the value of your labor does not support the lifestyle you desire. As long as I pay you what you are worth, none of those are my problem.
Nice succinct answer!
I notice you didn’t answer the question. Instead you side stepped it with your value of work. When both you and I know full well much of your success as a business owner depends on the quality of your employees and their dedication to your business as a whole. And the simple fact that you as an employer will always view my value lower then myself.
but thanks for your reply.
VibeMan gave you the advice you needed. Not what you wanted to hear.
Actually, he did.
I think most employers would find your “somebody owes me something” views to be undesirable.
Nonsense. Employers pay according to competetive market and an employee’s contribution to the bottom line. It has little to do with how one values oneself. That is emotional. It’s the skillset that is valued. It isn’t personal, it’s business.
Yep, seen all sides, union carpenter, machinist, oil and gas, non-union, business owner. Life is war then you die. Particularly in America. Everyone is out for themselves. Greed, for a lack of a better word, is good. It’s business, not personal. I don’t weep at funerals anymore. It is what it is.
If you value yourself higher than an employer wants to pay, then either you become your own boss (which is more of a headache than being an employee), find a better paying job, or deal with it.
IMHO, at its heart, the “social contract” employer-employee relationship that was once such a part of our society’s bedrock, was based on love. It began disintegrating pretty much at the same rate and time as our morality.
Stay strong, steady on, keep the faith, and keep praying! 💕
Excellent answer. Reminds me of Andrew Wilcow. He spoke of minimum wage in that context. No employer should be forced to pay a given wage. If employees are unhappy, let them sell their skillset to someone who will pay them more.
Don’t worry about the troll, VibeMan. You got it right.
Would love to know Jeanette’s age – sounding like the typical “participation trophy” age…
Open your own business and you will have the answers!
You don’t have to own one to understand them. My wife and I have been running them for over 25 years. I have on the other hand witnessed many times people getting into a business’s they don’t understand and had no business opening one in the first place.
Since you have been running businesses for over 25 years, how do you set your employees’ salaries?
So, your solution is to pay people more than they’re worth
and run the business into the ground that way?
Just be sure to celebrate Pride Month, or else!
Nailed it!
I have a problem with “why you should be ALLOWED to stay in business.” Who are you or anyone else to say who should be ALLOWED to stay in business?
That was very poor wording on my part. I do apologize.
If you have a strong work ethic, work hard and have a brain, one can practically write your own ticket.
Why should an employer pay you if you don’t add value to his/her business?
And, the value of you as an asset is not set by yourself.
I agree. And that’s what my wife and have been doing our whole lives. And if you don’t pay up We leave. As the gentleman said up above my problems are not his problems . Just like your problems as a business owner are not my problems. I don’t care if you’re struggling to stay open or not.
of course you don’t … but then don’t comment on his business practices … but you busybodies just CAN’T help your selves can you … your childish beliefs are not grounded in reality …
“unspoken social contract between the employee and employer”
There is no unspoken social contract contract between you and your employer. Go to a courtroom, slam your hand on the table and cite the unspoken social contract! You need more time with Judge Judy.
“If your business big or small can’t pay that why should I work for you and why would you be allowed to stay in business?”
So are you suggesting that the government shut down a business because your demand for a certain rate of pay is not met? You are so special.
Employees tend to assume the owner owns a business because he has money
I can say from the experience of our family trying to run a small business, in hard times it can be easier for a very small business to survive than bigger ones. The owner can cut wages for himself and his family to nothing, and find another job to work for a while, but employees get paid whether the owner does or not. The owner may hang on to the business for much longer than makes sense, because of the hope it will someday make money again and allow him to pay off the mortgage he took on his house to open the business.
No offense, but why would you believe that working a full time job gives you the right to home ownership or a “stable roof over your head”? or food for that matter. Many, many, many people came to this country looking for opportunity. They often worked 2, 3, 4 or more jobs to make ends meet, and saved every extra penny. Everyone in the family worked and they pooled the money to be able to stay under a roof. At one time, I did work 4 jobs to keep the family afloat. I never once thought I “deserved” or had the right to something. I only had the right of opportunity. And how I applied myself to opportunities around me resulted in being able to finally purchase home. But, that wasn’t the end of it. All that money I sunk into home ownership was wiped off the balance sheets by the crash of 2008.
Anyway, again, no offense, but no one has a right to anything other than freedom.
And to continue, I had to rebuild my life after that crash. I had to start from zero in the middle of my life because I put all my money into my home and then couldn’t sell it for the remaining mortgage balance (half of its value gone, whoosh) after losing my job(s). I see it happening again in the near future. Everything people worked for their whole lives smashed. Their businesses gone because of government mandates, and then the government ripping the rug out from under everyone because they’re a bunch of Communist scumbags pretending to be humanitarians because of cow farts.
What we really deserve, really deserve, is for the government to get the hell out of the way and out of our lives. Their only real job is protect the Homeland – that’s it. But, they’re so stinking corrupt, they’re constantly looking for ways to enrich themselves at our expense. And they honestly don’t care if people lose their homes or jobs or lives. Communists never do. They consider death and destruction a necessary evil in order for them to remain in power.
Just sayin. Honest answer.
See I have never understood this argument that the owner takes the risk because it ignores reality of how people actually work and think. Nobody told you to take that risk, but you did anyways and I would assume you took that risk in hopes of providing your family with a much better life then you currently have, well the employee is in the same boat. I’m tired of hearing this argument that because you took a risk the world owes you something.or I should work for less pay it’s ridiculous on its face.
The simple truth you took that risk for purely selfish reasons. Not to bring anything to the community itself just you and your family. My guess is people are leaving these struggling businesses because they don’t pay enough. As one gentlemen told me here my problems are not his concern. Well the street goes both ways.
Every employer reading your opinions are vomiting and hoping if you ever come in to apply for a job, you come with a highly visible warning sign.
Oh my word. This is incomprehensible. I think you must be a troll.
of course the owner takes the risk … “nobody told you to take the risk” ???? are you a child ? do you hear yourself ? I would point out that YOU work for purely selfish reasons … (don’t give me that give back to the community nonsense, I doubt you give a dime to charity)
Jeanette,
And you would take a job for exactly those same selfish reasons. The owner is not your father and he doesn’t owe you anything more than what he agreed to pay you when you were hired. You have the obligation to do whatever legal tasks he asks you to do on the job. He has the obligation to pay you what you both agreed when you were hired. If either of you decides not to abide by the contract, or even just thinks the side conditions are not acceptable, it’s adios and hasta la vista.
In all honesty, you have a very poor attitude with regard to working and I would hope never to see you in my small business in any capacity. I think you would be more trouble than you would be worth.
Agree 100%. My dad worked round the clock and we often went without. A business owner owes you nothing other than the pay that you agreed to work for.
I don’t know when, how or why we started begrudging hard working business owners their success and profits.
Well said! TANSTAAFL!
A particular job has a certain value to a business. If you or anyone else believe you are worth more, you need to seek out a job that matches what you seek with your job skills.
It is not 1950 anymore, and even then, some people who worked full time had trouble keeping a roof over their head and food on the table.
Jeanette,
I don’t agree. As a former (long time) small business owner, I can say that the contract between employee and employee is to pay a wage based on the value provided, usually in keeping with what the market would bear. A go-fer, file clerk, car wash attendant, fast food employee or other entry level job was not meant to pay enough for permanent stability. These kinds of jobs were meant to be a stepping stone, or maybe short-term or part-time work. I myself worked a job and a half in my early 20’s to pay the rent for my single apartment. None of my employers cared what my rent was, or my grocery bills… I was paid based on the value I added to their businesses. When I was worth more, I earned more.
As a small business owner, I paid competitive market wages (plus benefits) based on each person’s job duties – and as long as they produced results, they added a certain value and were paid for such. And vice-versa. An employer refusing to pay market wages won’t keep staff very long, and a business over-paying won’t stay in business very long. That’s the balance.
There was no social contract that I was expected to pay them enough to cover their bills… and as employees became more skilled and added extra value, their wages increased. Had nothing to do with the price of food or rent, other than the area’s cost of living being one component in establishing a salary range for each skill set.
The employees take no risk.
The business owner takes on massive risk.
The employees don’t have a clue how much more the business owner has to pay just for the pleasure of having employees. Insurance, with holdings, workmans comp, u/c insurance, training, the list is endless. And they’re still met with this ungrateful attitude.
“ As far as I know that always been the unspoken social contract between the employee and employer.”
Huh? I’ve never heard this in my life? What is a social contract between employee and employer?
Vibeman gave a beautiful answer, and just like Coki said above me, it was one you just didn’t want to hear.
Blame Covid !
This germ was unable to spread in big box stores and multi-national interests ( Campaign Donors ), instead the germ attacked small business that had to close , or be subject to ‘rules’ the big boys were exempt from. Craziest germ ever !

Stealing the election was set in motion, while the real President Trump was in office. And the intent of the deliberate election fraud, was to punish the country for electing Trump.
We are all getting the Jan 6 treatment. Political persecution.
Puzzled;
If I may offer a suggestion;
Words matter.
Citizens from all across this nation that were called upon to be present, and honored that call, will carry physical and emotional scars from J6 for the rest of their lives.
No less so than those who were unfortunate enough to be on the west side of the building.
Forgive me if I missed the news that peaceful people are being subjected to every less than lethal in the book by ¹DCMP ²MSP ³USCP ⁴alphabet, which lasted for hours.
You are correct in calling what we are all now experiencing persecution, I do believe.
Fun story;

“If You Want Peace, Prepare for War”
God be with us.
It’s an act of war by Biden Regime, they called most of the country their enemies and now they are using what most would consider Economic /Financial Terrorism against all of us.
I don’t think so. I think Trump got in the way of their long term plans that Hillary was supposed to carry out post-Obama, or at least continue. Their problem was Hillary lost, and she was the last standard- bearer they have. There are no more viable candidates for them to present in the future now that Hillary is gone and Biden had to be installed by visible corruption. They’re on a one-way mission to destroy the country (capitalism really) and replace it with their communist neo-feudal utopia of lords and serfs. They don’t plan on failing.
Big Mike. As long as the last name is Obama, their world will be saved.
And the worst is yet to come. Fasten your seat belts.
Sundance said “Plan accordingly”.
I live in Florida. I should have said batten your hatches.
I don’t know how to plan more than I have yet I feel it’s insufficient.
I have food storage for likely a bit over a year. I can’t store electricity, so I bought a solar cooker to be able to cook without fossil fuels. (Luckily I now live in Florida).
I have a 500 gallon propane tank filled, so I can run a generator and a gas stove. That won’t even last a month if say we get a bad hurricane or a rolling blackout. I have a well so I need to power the pump.
I have a bicycle but the grocery store is 20 minutes away by car should I need something.
I have a good garden and plenty of seeds and fertilizer.
I have home defense equipment but not enough ammo if a crowd rolls in.
So I’m good for a year or two…then what? It doesn’t seem like the Calvary are saddling up.
Sounds like you are well prepared. Let’s hope that a year will be enough to sort through some of this.
All good!! Cheers and be happy!
And now we know why Yellen and the non-Energy Secretary were out stumping for FJB and his BS. ADP is usually first to release data. The 2nd QTR CPI and PPI will not be out for another 50 days or so. They need to get way out in front of those two reports…..
And yet, just ask around….do it. When standing in line at the store…just casually ask the person next to you “Man, this inflation is killing me: groceries, gas, and other goods. What do you think is causing this?”
Very few say FJB’s energy policy. Very few say FJB and Congress spending our money. Very few will say anything close. But, guess what a lot do say: Derp….Russia (some just say Putin)…derp…Covid.
It’s easy to do. I do it all the time. Most people respond if you avoid tying a political angle to the question (i.e., mentioning FJB or Trump in the question). It’s really easy and most will respond. It will blow your mind at how stupid and disconnected people are….or more so, how easily the magic box convinces them to think a certain way.
How do you respond to them?
I just ask follow up questions depending on exactly how they answer. I wait for them to ask me what my thoughts are before I tell them my thoughts- energy policy, illegals, and spending money we don’t have….
I only get asked my thoughts maybe 1 out of every 4/5 times I ask someone. Interestingly, believe it or not, when I can tie it to FJB’s policies….a lot of those people make this weird epiphany face followed with an oh, I didn’t think of that….
When I get asked in return, I make sure to explain my thoughts in very easy to understand language. I assume everyone’s a stupid idiot. I had one guy reply back “I think you over simplified it but I can’t disagree. Don’t you think its more nuanced?” Which I told him “yes, but I don’t know how well you comprehend things”
My wife gets embarrassed. If she’s with me she usually interjects with “Ignore him, he’s really into that stuff…”
Just tell them it is Putin’s revenge for stealing the election from his boy Trump and see how they respond. Seems fair!
I’ll save that response for a super liberal that I end up asking. I live in CT and surprisingly no one has openly answered in a true very CT liberal fashion. I told my wife I was surprised that I haven’t run into an Uber liberal yet. She said- you probably have, they are all over up here, but they are embarrassed and will never let on they voted for the idiot.
😄
I would be interested to know the oversimplified phrases you use which cause people to respond, “I can’t disagree.” It might be good to keep some of those phrases in my back pocket as sound bytes. Yes, I can talk about issues, but there is something really valuable about being concise.
If you said it was O’biden or the Democrats their heads would explode. They have to believe what they are told, covid/Putin. Both necessary, and the price we have to pay. God help us.
Woman at deli counter asked no one in particular, as inflation was slowing (?), when would the greedy stores start lowering prices? I just said that has not happened in US history. Surrounded by idiots here in supposedly R EL Paso county, COLO.
It’s called “Tell-A-Vision” for a reason.
Tell-lie-vision.
I agree Main Street is in terrible danger.
Let me take it a step further.
The whole damn country is in terrible danger of becoming a communist country.
How else would an internal enemy ” Seize The Means Of Production ” ?

No, he should stay and fight the good fight with us.
Aaaand here is a male Karen. Do you want to talk to Johnny’s manager, too, Bob?
Yes, the stench has been around for awhile, a few decades at least, and is noticeable to anyone who’s escaped Communism as my maternal ancestors did. They took off with their nine kids as the Bolsheviks overran their farmland and settled in the promised land of America.
Me, I’m not going anywhere. As far as I’m concerned American Bolsheviks are nothing other than varmints destined for a dirt nap. I don’t care how smartly they’re dressed or what big words they use, or not. They all smell the same.
I feel like I’ve been living Eyes Wide Shut for Decades.
Bought fuel for my tractor (diesel) and other implements (gas). Spent $150! That used to be how much I spent for four months of the same amount of fuel.
ugghhh – that’s awful
Spent $51.00 for 8 gallons of premium gas today. Thought I would top it off before the weekend.
I filled my F450 tank. $285 😡 I couldn’t believe it!
“We’re gonna get to this clean energy economy — one hydroelectric project, one solar panel, one wind turbine, one geothermal project, one advanced nuclear reactor, one electric vehicle, one battery at a time,” Granholm said.
“The price of gas is likely to remain above $4/gallon,” Granholm ALSO said.
How much good news can one Regime share in a day?
She’s a despicable snake, in a survival situation she’d be the first one “voted off the island” so to speak. I’d say making fertilizer, but that’d be Samantha Bullsh*t Power.
Send that giggling bimbo back to Canada.
The sooner the better
PRESIDENT TRUMP WON!!
And WE let them STEAL IT.
Yup.
And I made a “Stop The Steal” sign that I brought to the J6 Rally.
Then, I had an epiphany as I stood up next to the Washington Monument and looked down on the crowd of what had to be at least one million people…DC is a bubble of corruption that steals our money via taxes to spend as they see fit…Taxation without Representation.
Was listening to Shreveport news on the radio today. Amazon was supposed to start hiring soon to staff their new distribution center. On hold. Hiring may start at the first of the year. Unsure.
30 second news clip about that new facility…
https://www.ktbs.com/amazon/video_f92213f1-48fc-5ab4-a1ff-aed4c5ae1015.html
They put it on hold cuz they are assessing how many illegals they will need to hire to keep the Uniparty supporting them building in their towns or districts.
Amazon is not expanding. It’s shrinking warehouse space
Hey guys, if you know somebody that is looking for a career……..oil and gas is booming…….my wife is a radiation safety officer and they can’t find enough people……hiring GED felons now……….not an easy job but, you can make bank as a radiographer……(NDT….Non destructive testing)…..basically using a radioactive camera to take pictures of welds……despite what the news says, they are still building plenty of pipeline……..a good place for a kid to start……she has 20 something making 25 an hour working 60-70 hours a week……..1000 bucks a week per diem……they live off their per diem and don’t have time to spend their money……after they work 3-6 months….they go home and take a couple months off, then do it again…….in three to five years they’re making 40 bucks an hour running a crew. If I would have known this field existed 40 years ago, I would have never did my 24 in the military…….I did a ton of 1 year, 7 days a week, 12-14 hours a day deployments that basically paid a couple bucks an hour when you add it all up. Have them google radiographer jobs…..they are nation wide and as long as they can do high school algebra, it’s easy to certify. Of course I don’t how long oil and gas will be around…….
My spouse works in marine and industrial turbines, they can’t find any subs that can actually weld. Every piece they get is a rework. I’m starting to get convinced we have a serious deficit of skilled labor, and the quality that we had back in the day is not coming back.
Some of us purposely left. That’s my sand in the works, sold off the machine tools but did hold back my two oldest MiG and TiG machines for armory use. Else, corporate America can gargle FJB’s balls for all I care. If people want to keep buying the Commies bombs and bullets to kill them with, hey free country, knock yourself out.
The full economic collapse cannot be far behind.
I’ve been seeing hedge funds getting laughably hammered.
My thought is that a lot of these are handling “old munny”. You know, the kind that can get “connected” to wealth building funds.
Have to wonder if some of those folks thought it was just the little guys that would be getting wiped out by the system.
That 2 & 20 the hedge fund extracts won’t look so acceptable at the end of the year. Paying 2% of an account’s assets under management for the pleasure of seeing those assets shrink has gotta sting. It happened in 2009. It could happen again in 2022.
Thankfully, I am of too modest means to be able to afford professional management to diminish my net worth.
ADP has been wrong lately.. They predicted way fewer jobs last month then there were… I’m beginning to think they come up with numbers so the Biden administration can know how many jobs to “add”
Is anyone shocked?
Don’t believe anything the federal commie gubmint puts out. Especially numbers. Good or bad. If it’s good, it’s a lie. If it’s bad it’s also a lie because it is actually worse than reported.
The small business, what used to be called “Mom and Pop” is, in reality, much like the new seed which the farmer plants. That seed comes with dreams of growth, of being strong and profitable, maturing into a vibrant enterprise. However, Dun and Bradstreet (D&B) has tracked this element of our business community for years wherein certain realities keep occurring:
9 out of 10 new business ventures will die within the first 5 years. Dreams lost. But what does that fact really mean?
It means that the main function of the new small business is to be fed upon by larger businesses…most become food for other stronger businesses. And yet, what does one see when our small business people never get out of the gate due to government’s actions and at times inaction?
We end up with a field with no crop, a community with no future, where only the giants survive. But what do they eat? That’s right, the lesser businesses. Business is the fastest game in town folks, the most dangerous yet with the risks the most rewarding. Every new business has dreamers who see that golden ring on the their merry go round.
Regular Joes and Janes see that new small business as a place to work, to gain economic freedom, to support one’s life and if there be a family to feed, clothe and provide shelter.
In other words, when government, through it’s actions or inactions, puts forth policies that end up hurting and destroying the small business, it destroys the economy! When you kill vertical mobility in a society you end up with a ruthless controlling elite–a master wherein others become the slaves.
Government created and supported monopolies destroy competition, a free market and capitalism. U.S., state and local governments, large corporations and China are behind nearly all of the current mess we’re in, particularly the Covid-op related stuff. Signed, four decade independent business owner.
Don’t know if the problem just hasn’t yet arrived in my little semi-rural hamlet, but the shops on Main Street are all hanging in there and doing OK. I think that increasing numbers of locals are finding it far more relaxing and peaceful to stay local and not venture out to the far more congested suburban areas that are within 30 minutes of drive time, when their needs don’t require such travel. Saves a lot of gasoline, too……
I think it varies widely by locale. Decimation of the logging and marine industries where I live took out most of the economy decades ago and Covid did quite a number on what was left.
Subsistence businesses remain and a few who cater to the dune tourists but there are rows of empty storefronts in the nearest town and the grocery store closes a couple hours earlier than it used to. Pretty much the whole town is dead by 7pm.
I don’t think it’ll get much worse since anything meaningfully competitive is an hour drive through the mountains. I kind of chuckle when hauling that route passing the double-single fuel tanker road train. If it doesn’t run, the town has no gas or diesel, at any price. Seen that many times. I keep a drum of diesel on hand just in case. Never know.
When do we all say NO as 300 million voices
My question too. I’ve already said no, I’m waiting for everyone else to join me.
The real scam is quasi “legal” weed. Federal Illegality puts users on the Dole. Many jobs that didn’t test you unless you were hurt on the job have stringent testing policies because of the plant’s proliferation.
Spare me the weed argument. Seriously. You know what they should require- breathalyzers every morning at the work place. That way all of the alcohol loving Americans can deal with it too. Alcohol addiction is a far bigger problem than Mary Jane.
Weed is not the problem. Was never a problem. And will not be a problem.
I think a lot of people would be surprised at who tokes up around them. Or eats an edible. And, to top it off, the states who have legalized it bring in a lot of tax revenue. The smart states give back….my state CT….just plans on keeping it all.
What people do at home in private is their business. And theirs alone. Just like with responsible drinking, there should be responsible weed use. If they show up everyday, work hard, cause no problems, and do a great job- who cares. It should be up the individual employer. And, all regulatory requirements to ensure public safety should also be followed- i.e., FFD requirements for some jobs.
“If they show up every day, work hard, cause no problems, and do a great job- who cares.” -DD

Sound reasonable enough.
And closet alcoholism is a huge problem.
… just ask Pelosi’s husband.
Natural population growth plus the millions of illegals means that these job numbers are dismal.
They will put gas on EBT cards. Once that happens, the rich don’t care and the welfare folks get it paid for…….by us. There aren’t enough of us to bother them.
“The program is federally funded but run by individual states.
Previously known as welfare, TANF delivers funding to eligible individuals and families to help pay for food, housing, home energy and other utility bills, childcare, job training, transportation, and other living expenses.
The funds are designed to help families and individuals who have fallen on hard times get back on their feet and recover financially.
TANF funds are distributed through an EBT Cash benefits card, which can be used for purchases at any store or website that accepts EBT as a form of payment.
An EBT Cash card, unlike the EBT card issued for SNAP benefits, can also be used to withdraw cash from an ATM.”

Our small business is getting crushed. It’s a hurricane and a tsunami.
I gave it up back in 2020 and closed mine and sold off most of the machines to pay bills then said screw it, alternative economy. Too old to keep killing myself for the worthless scum out there. Health is wealth, especially for those of us lifers in heavy industry. Watching friends keel over around me, it’s been a sad journey.
They don’t care because it’s time celebrate PRIDE MONTH.
Bad news is good news, the market manipulation will continue until the last sucker is pulled in
Sucker’s Rally … Rinsing & Repeating.
Wait…The Networks all said this morning that Job Growth was proof of a strong economy – CNBC was taking about 300,000+ new jobs and how this was keeping the Biden economy growing. NBC can’t be wrong?
Pity that Nothing But Crap (NBC) can’t be used for fertilizers 🤔🤔. Oh well.
I am self employed and I can attest to the large decrease in business this year. The numbers are pretty dismal. Sales are down and supply costs are up with every order. I sell make a non-essential item and families just don’t have money for anything after paying for rent, gas and groceries.
Admin somehow I seem to have flagged some people accidentally while scrolling and I can’t seem to unflag them. Phone issues possibly. Apologies!
You know many how times I’ve heard the expression from small business owners “people just don’t want to work.’ I would argue they simply don’t want to work for you. As an employee my dedication is to my family first not your business. You have to pay me to care or I move on.
My guess is people are job hopping and leaving these small employers to work for more money so they can put food on the table. As a gentlemen told me here earlier as a business owner my problems are not his concern well that street goes both ways.
Wrong. Totally wrong
If you have to be paid to care, then you still wouldn’t anyway.
I would have eliminated you before the end of the first interview.
I worked at a national feed/outdoor supplies store chain during the height of the pandemic. I came to work early and sometimes stayed to fill in for other people’s shifts. I had off one Sunday and the manager called a mandatory meeting that morning at 7A.
She had a good crew. Lots of us were older and knew the value of work. She sat us down in the freight area and told us angrily that she only cared about the store and her customers. She flat told us she didn’t care about her workers.
She was a b!tch. You take care of your good workers in a pandemic or you lose them. I got back into law and never looked back. I enjoyed working there and I liked the customers and my co-workers. It’s too sad that the managers of businesses don’t appreciate hard workers but denigrate them, drag them, and openly tell them that they are not important.
If workers aren’t important, why don’t all of you managers and owners do all of the work yourselves since only your store and customers matter to you? Oh, and I no longer buy my animal feed, seed, or fertilizer from that store. I avoid that chain like the plague. So that b!tch lost the company thousands of dollars in revenue for a hissy fit that didn’t need to be had.
Folks beware their is a lot of ‘pumping’ going on so the hedge funds can escape at the expense of retail investors. Don’t believe the BS of ‘buying the dip’. Q3 will be uglier than Fiona Hill.
Exporting gas and oil to Europe is the same as Stalin exporting grain out of Ukraine and southern Russia to show how good the Soviet system was working.
things i won’t be doing for a few years:
movie theaters
restaurants
vehicle purchases
travel
sports events
when more of those businesses fail because of BIDETnomics, half of the US will be out of work
Can someone tell me how to post an image or graphic?
I posted a couple pictures of meat items from D.C. upthread…… I upload them to imgur and simply post the direct .jpg or .png link from there and CTH resolves them and, if they’re large, will zoom them in a new window from the hosting site. I use Imgur but you can use any web host that produces images with common file suffixes.
A catastrophic problem created by the elite’s. These. Same so-called elites have the unmitigated gal to claim they need to sizes more power from, we the people, so that they may save us from the very economic crises they’ve. A crises, I might add that they purposefully created in an effort to usher in the Global Fascist Economic Order they’ve been mentally masturbating about for decades. These people deserve zero power and moreover they deserve to be treated as the multi-generational criminals they are. With that said, no delusions of grandeur here. As seen with Sussman, HRC et.al. The left is not subject to our justice system. The legal system, now only applies to Patriots like Gen. Flynn and the Jan. 6 political prisoners. Historians will look back on this time Frame as the Fall of the American Republic. The left has infiltrated and commandeered and weaponized the entirety of the Federal Gov’t. If there is any hope of restoring America to her former glory, short of a 1776 or 1861 moment or decades of change, the latter is not a luxury’s available to us with the current Ecconomic state of affairs. If anyone else can see a pathway, I’m all ears!
With the current crop of humans, I don’t see a healthy resolution on the horizon. Happy to be wrong but am counting on being dead before any semblance of the freedoms and liberties and joys I’ve lived returning in any cogent and pervasive form. Final full measure of devotion to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. God be with you.
I have come to the conclusion that Human Resource Management of the economy has reached the conclusion that, “The end has been a reached and corporate America is about to collapse the governing Reality.
That is my appreciation of Human Resource Management of corporate America has taken the approach of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic as a matter of settled policy.
And as the end nears, deck chair rearrangment becomes a visible farce.
There is much to be said of the visible work place reality of those that have exercised retirement as an option to the COVID shut down phase is governing the replacement work force.
This work force has not been replaced with a new generational replacements.
The reality is this vacated skill set of the middle class of doers that drive much of the of can do culture has retired and there is a zero replacement uptake to replace these folks.
Our culture norms have failed miserable in cultivating societal replacement.
The torch being passed to a newer generation has been revealed to be woefully under stocked and unprepared to take up the slack.
Such that the truth is, “Socially we are but a major crises away from a complete collapse of being able to call ourselves a first world culture.”
Up to and concluding that socially the skill set of this up and coming generation is woefully unprepared to assume the mantle of a first world global power.
Meaning, we are but just a generation away from becoming the definitive joke tobeing able to claiming to be a first world power
I saw the realities a decade ago when employees wielding dangerous tools were sharing tool time with face in their phone time/earbud chat time. My perspective was we’re on the job to work, not surf the net or chat with our significant other. Apparently, that’s pervasive these days, even more so now. Glad I got out of it. No one was killed or maimed on my watch, thank God. It can happen fast in heavy industry. Boom, dead.
I think these numbers are restricted to the decadent blue states. I think MAGA country (everything in America except the burnt ends) is doing fine. Huge growth in my newly adopted State. I don’t doubt there is stagnation, sorrows and woes from the Blue State dump from which I fled the coming persecution. Here, with my fellow travelers … we are happy as clams in warm mud.
California model: Easier to control a few big companies vs. hundred of smaller ones.
Hmmm, wonder if they revised the April figures down by 45,000 to help with the May figures that they knew were coming?
I am so pissed off. Our system of government was not intended to allow a dementia-addled puppet to collapse our entire economy with a pen stroke.
So much misery and more to come. November elections will help, maybe. I we never forget what the democrats have brought down on this country and its citizens.
Colorado is piling on…
January 2022 – Business’ will pay employees one hour paid time off for every 30 hours worked. Capped at 48 hours/year.
*** Let’s fill up tax coffers on the back of small business. SS, Medicare et al.
July 2022 – Delivery business’ will have to collect a “fee” aka tax for each delivery made. Line item as a fee and charged directly to recipient.
January 2023 – Business’ will have to provide an IRA account for employees
*** Hello Wallstreet!
Timing markets is a fool’s errand. Make no mistake, the general trend is horrible for those long this market. I expect to see a severe correction this fall in either the third or fourth quarter. We’ll see……..
” far less than expected….”
Who are the folks that keep “expecting’ things to be different?
Will wait to see if…
“Republicans pounce..”
While I tend to discount GOP today in favor of the Uniparty reality, even if the GOP ‘pounces’ in a tidal wave this November, they’ll need veto-proof majorities to get anything meaningful on any level done. Even if Brandon takes a header, Khole will be right there and new Commie operative will fill her shoes as tie-breaker in the Senate.
However, I do support those who believe there’s still a political solution. The alternative is a nasty one.
