1/3 of Taiwan’s export market is compromised of electronics and electronic components.
Their high-grade semiconductors are utilized by the US defense industry. To lose Taiwan as a semiconductor source would be to forfeit a competitive advantage over our military rivals.
Would this lead to the death of the Republic? Perhaps not but it would significantly degrade our national defense capabilities.
China getting their hands on that electronics expertise would be a huge blow to the west.

Of that $6 billion, maybe $4 billion is for the contractors to train, travel, living expenses for soldiers while training, $2 billion for actual weapons. Another $9 billion is to re-stock depleted stockpiles of US weapon reserves. The other $25 billion is for all kinds of laundered money.
What happens to that money if Russia resoundingly defeats Ukraine in the Donbas? Which more and more sounds like what is happening?
