Perhaps in the grand scheme of all things facing us, this action by New Jersey may seem a little silly; however, it’s still nuts.
Comrades, starting today it is illegal in New Jersey to have plastic or paper bags in stores for shoppers. Additionally, restaurants, cafeterias and food trucks are forbidden to serve take-out food in Styrofoam-like products. Also, all retailers must stop selling polystyrene foam products like plates and cups. Drinking straws require a permit for restricted distribution as monitored by the Department of Health.
To ensure legal compliance within the Garden State, officials in New Jersey have established a snitch hotline for citizens to call the Dept of Environmental Police (DEP) and report dissident violators, while the state ministry of citizen compliance have created a “WARN DEP” app to facilitate easier snitching on your neighbors if you spot them using contraband containers.
“The ban will go into effect [May 4th] nearly 18 months after the law was signed by Gov. Phil Murphy.” ARTICLE
We cannot get to environmental justice without citizen participation, comrades.
I take bags made out of buffalo stomachs are still OK
Ties into Rush’s answer to the endangered species problem:
“Eat them! No, I’m not kidding. Look around you. Do you see any shortage of cows, pigs, or chickens?”
Just wait a year.
I’m sure they will murder the animals soon, along with us
But wait! Now people are telling us we must go organic or something and stop using manmade fertilizer. We must use manure. And where does manure come from? AFAIK, this country does not have adequate facilities to make sufficient Milorganite to accomplish that.
I take bags made out of buffalo stomachs are still OK
Only if you’re picking up an order of haggis for dinner.
The Department of Health is in charge of who can use straws?
the cdc was the largest real estate lien holder for quite a while.
whatever gives them more power and control.
don’t use straws though. nearly impossible to recycle. hope they decompose rapidly in the landfill.
When I go to restaurants, I bring my own plastic straw (I have 2 boxes of 200 hundred of them at home). Nobody has ever questioned me about the straw I place in my glass of water. If they did, i would ask them if they planned to toss my straw in the ocean when I left. So stupid.
Somebody better alert hunter.
🤣😄😁Bill😅🤪☺
New Jersey is a lot like Korea.
You have North Jersey, and you have South Jersey.
Like two very different countries.
But they are both the butt of jokes from surrounding states.
This bag lunacy is no surprise.
Civics teacher fifty years ago referred to New Jersey as the armpit of the nation.
Best tomatoes in the world.
But otherwise, that’s an old but reliable saying for the place.
Worst drivers in the mid-Atlantic, and that is saying something.
Driving around all those circles all the time makes them nuts.
From NJ here. Tomatoes are the best. Italian food too. Miss certain things from my home state but not the evil leftists.
I grew up in northern New England and the current phrase was always that NJ was the armpit of the Country. I always felt bad for them. Now, with their their ultra Left ideals while also being a center of crime, I just smh.
I know of another, only this “Armpit” is on a Global scale.
“Can face daily fines”. Hmmm…guess this is more important than BLM or Antifa burning down cities.
Now we know their priorities.
That’s what we had in Melbourne. Prior to the pandemic there wasn’t enough police to deal with the youth criminal gangs. But then during the pandemic they had 6-8 police approach an old lady who was sitting on a park bench. And numerous more examples of stupid over policing.
glad i live in florida, a state that’s blessed by god and mr. desantis.
though stuff them into themselves and recycle them. make nasty litter. sea turtles eat them thinking they are jelly fish.
These authoritarians want to control every aspect of life, and there are too many people who want to do the same.
Well, New Jersey is going to see a rise in food contamination.
Makes great “busy work” for the soon to be expanded Department of Health. Helps to curb unemployment. Good jobs at good wages……….
Just ignore your compounding State income, property, and sales taxes.
Will people have to prove themselves innocent before being exonerated? By the way, turning citizens into informers ruins communities and destroys families. I recall reading how awful it is in Cuba, with kids ratting on their parents.
Watch The Children’s Story, by James Clavell:
Just wait until they start rewarding people for turning others in. Or they make a deal with you: avoid being fines yourself by turning in someone else. All tyrannical governments resort to this method of fear and control……
Additionally, restaurants, cafeterias and food trucks are forbidden to serve take-out food in Styrofoam-like products.
So what’s the politically correct, acceptable, and sanitary container now in use for these take-out venues?
Cup your hands together.
Thank you, Puzzled – I needed a good laugh!
Put the food in a spare face mask.
I was wondering the exact same thing.
Reusable food bags, just throw it around you neck and dig in.
Bring your own booze, plates, utensils. Take home bags and straws.
Or, you can just stay home.
Since paper bags are out, how long before they’ll add napkins, tissues, paper towels, and toilet rolls to that list. This is so insane, I’m not sure my question is that idiotic..
TP is out, restrooms will be equipped with ocean shells.
Don’t throw away corn cobs!
Harris Teeter has been using some type of recycled, pressed cardboard for their food bar products for the last couple of years. These containers are good enough to get the food home, but I immediately transfer to another container when I get home because they tend to soak up juices, dressings. If you eat out of the container, you are likely to get little scrapes of cardboard.
Glass? Might cost you an extra$4 per dinner on that take out order
I have always told my students:
Never think that America could never act like a Communist or Nazi country: it already has!
*(Think Indian reservations, prison camps for German-Americans (WW I) and the Nisei (WW II), the recent illegal Wuhan Flu ukases, etc.)
The hypocrisy is breathtaking. They can kill babies but are worried about plastics in the ocean that harm the sea life.
Maybe we should fine them for dumping garbage into the ocean.
Doesn’t get in the ocean if you bury it. But then I do have a vague memory of some NY or NJ garbage barge that no one would accept. If they are dumping it at sea, these laws are pointless. If they aren’t dumping it at sea, these laws are worse than pointless.
Looks like a perfect opportunity to turn the Alinsky playbook back on them. Flood their snitch line with reports of city, state, and county employees violating these rules. Overwhelm the system. Exposure and ridicule is what they fear the most.
If you detest your neighbors this is going to be a great tool to use.
👉I declare, I thought I saw 👀 the Governor with his staff doing take-out in Styrofoam containers bagged in disposable plastic bags just last night after they threw their cigarettes on the ground outside on the parking lot 👈. 🥤🧋🧃🚬
Oh I like this!!!
Saul’s Rule #4:
“Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”
And when they complain? I’m just adhering to the bible your god created.
A hotline to snitch on people “caught” using banned styrofoam and plastic containers?
Surely they thought of some sort of verification mechanism to filter out fake tips.
More likely we’ll see a new variant of Swatting, except with the DEP doing the deed after some hoodlums called it in for fun.
They can’t get police to a mugging, beating, carjacking, murder but will send a swat team for a guy with a hot cup of coffee.
turn in your Demi neighbors LOL
Neither confirming nor denying.
I’m not suggesting that people should do this to progressive-owned businesses. But I would completely understand if they did. 😉
What about disposable diapers? Ban those and I will know these environmental whackjobs are serious.
A friend of mine at our WalMart here asked “what’s next?” I texted her that she better believe something else will come. I hadn’t thought about diapers. I think the cult worshippers would absolutely go after those, Phflipper. Something tells me if there is anything that would unite every mother and grandmother in anger, the step well beyond too far, this would be it.
Yeah…know someone with kids in Jersey…ask them when baby diapers ban goes in effect!
Oh boy! Glad I don’t live there!
She’ll be asking you to send her diapers.
Hope they don’t get inspected by P.O.
Thee and me!
or the masks???
The POOPUS in chief would never be allowed in Jersey again.
Lol, snort, snort, chuckle … cough cough!
I should have thought that’d be a plus.
They’d have to bring back those diaper services that they had in the 50’s & 60’s.
Problem is, back then they were cheap enough for even lower middle class to use. Doubt that would be the case these days.
Notice how these environmental fanatics don’t ban disposable diapers.
Or disposable syringes.
If they did, Camden and Newark would revolt … or more likely, ignore it.
“To ensure legal compliance within the Garden State”
Somebody misspelled Gestapo.
Portland is way ahead of NJ.
Just like with other laws , they always do the test phase for the nation in states like NJ CA , then it advances
Lake County IL will now ban leaf burning except for the months November-March. Basically when you can’t really see the leaves on the ground.
Portland is way ahead on N J?
Seemed oddly appropriate timing for me to repost this video I had seen before from another Treeper.
Born and raised in nj, last 25 years spent on best coast of fl. Part of NJ’s rep was created because people fly into Newark airport which is surrouded by smokestacks and other industrial co. Jersey shore really is beautiful and nj has lots of horse farms and other rural areas. Politically wasn’t that bad until last 3 years. Could NEVER move back now. Plus they tax everything. Lucky I moved long ago. Pray and pray more
Born and raised there too. Lots of great people. Beautiful coastline. Great food. Horrible politicians, extreme corruption and nasty crime ridden cities.
Jersey people share a good bond when they meet one another out of state. We are the only ones who can like each other. After 25 years in fl. , they still haven’t adjusted to me down here.
Take out is a major source of revenue for restaurants and this all but shuts down take-out only places…unless you can wrap it, carry in a paper cup or carry it on a paper plate. The other container that is likely banned is the plastic tubs used to take out and carry cold stuff (e.g. some of the stuff on salad bars and Mediterranean type salad bars).
This will kill off allot small business that the shamdemic was not able to rub-out of existence.
Should be fun watching the truck mounted bodegas get fined.
They aren’t going to fine bodegas or any business owned by disadvantaged people or whatever word they used.
“Underserved Communities”
Forgot to append the ///s
They’re going to particularly love it up and down the Jersey Shore.
Those vacation towns were built on plastic straws, pizza and salt water taffy.
They should still be able to use Aluminum rounds with paper cardboard tops….most Italian restaurants have been using these forever. They are recyclable
I can’t believe that Tony Soprano’s boys would vote for this insanity!
California Joe: The Tony Sopranos control the alternative packaging industry.
But the useless masks are ok
There are used masks litter everywhere !
Seattle started a “Rat on your neighbors” thang several years back.
You were encouraged to report neighbors who had “recyclables” in their trash cans.
N.J.’s in trouble if they’re going full on PNW, and it looks like they ARE.
This should wake up a few more sleepy Dem voters who just vote “D” out of habit.
This is what is taught in schools today, and has been taught for years, from the earliest ages. Collectivism, conformity, compliance. Human activity is bad. Save the planet.
Universities offer degrees in environmental activism and “justice.” The graduates move into positions of influence and proceed to implement communism. They think it’s great. They’ll end up in gulags, pledging to try harder upon release.
So I guess those big shops at WalMart are over. It’s the Stalinist snitching that I find the most abhorrent. Back to East Germany in the 60s New Jersey goes.
The most plastic found in oceans is from fishing nets. Has any agency or environmental group called for a ban on fishing nets?
Plastic bags cost 5cents now in my northern Virginia county, others are following.
Cole: 10 cents in California. The money goes to the state, nver to be seen or accounted for again.
8 cents in WA state.
Someone else questioning this as well.
https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/world-news/climate/plastic-bag-ban/
New Jersey – the armpit of the nation.
Why would anyone want to live there? I went to secondary school there there a long time ago and it’s only gotten worse.
Suggestion: Leave there and breathe free in a Red State of your choice.
“Why would anyone want to live there?”
It’s marginally more tolerable than NYC.
And that’s about it.
Or stay and make it a Red State.
This insanity will only increase. Move to a conservative state before your house devalues in price.
Pick up cheap pl. bags and styrophome in nj and sell elsewhere.
The enviro nuts are still at trying this again.
😂 and after the Covid lockdowns, the deliberate murder of the elderly in nursing homes, passing & signing this debacle of a law & all of the other egregious acts of the NJ communist regime… the regime was re-elected. By a “narrow margin.”
I wonder how many NJ residents voted for this & how many are certain it was fraud…
I am so glad I moved from there(my home state) in 2003! I survived Chris Christie but I never would have been able to deal with this butthole!!
So I can’t get my red beans and rice, in NJ, in a take out container…darn the luck…
THIS WHOLE THING IS BOOGERS
Well, I just sit here wondering … when is the ridicule going to begin?
These “oh so self-important people,” who are right now cranking out all of these “public health and environmental pronouncements,” is anybody laughing at them yet?
Well, the general public certainly should be “ROTFLMAO” by now, but I don’t think these people will like it when they finally do. 🤡 Ridicule is something that most people find they absolutely cannot take, but these are very obviously the sort of people who desperately need it.
I mean – isn’t anyone out there saying that the emperor has no clothes? Seriously … isn’t anyone out there saying: “You must be joking, right …?” 😜
Man, I sure am glad that I don’t live in New Jersey. Must be something in the water …
Any bird that uses plastic waste to build a nest should be killed on the spot f̶o̶r̶ ̶a̶e̶s̶t̶h̶e̶t̶i̶c̶ ̶r̶e̶a̶s̶o̶n̶s̶ for it’s own safety.
This is how despotism starts. A straw here, a cup there, a snitch here, a snitch there, a snitch EVERYWHERE. We control the horizontal, we control the vertical. You WILL be assimilated, resistance is futile. Soylent green is people!
But this is also where ridicule properly starts. “You are now seriously(!!) telling me that you have developed an app which will enable me to ‘snitch’ upon my neighbor because of a soda straw.” 🤣
How much public money have you now spent upon this program? And, why haven’t you been fired yet? Just askin’ …
An Alex Jones here, Milo there, next up is one’s first cousin or an uncle and pretty soon it’s mom and dad.
So, is Alex Jones on Truth Social yet?
DemsFascists turning people against each other one crisis at a time.murphy is aspineless cowardlt deep state prime slime scumbag who needs to be brought to justice and orosecuted for crimes against humanity for nakmely nursing home murders – murphy, cuomo, newsome and whitmore need to answer for their crimes –
Not even that bad here in ATX, where plastic bags have been frowned upon for several years. I don’t disagree with banning plastic, frankly. I grew up in the era of market baskets and cardboard boxes. But tracking/spying?? No way.
Snitch lines are pure evil – pitting citizen against citizen. A snitch line was established in Washington state regarding Covid noncompliance, making it difficult to know if you could even trust your neighbor. This is by design of course. And my first hint that Brian Kemp is not a good guy, was when he was being praised early in the Covid response. I tried to contact him to thank him for how he was handling things, and as I listened to the phone menu – one of the choices was the snitch line.
Call 1-800-IMA-NAZI
What about paper masks and rubber gloves on the floor of parking lots and in the park grass?
I’ll make sure I dump all my plastic garbage in New Jersey when in that state
The first ones to snitch on, if the ungovernable have a lick of sense, would be elected government officials, appointed bureaucrats, and then anyone else in local, county, or State government.
Let the bastards run around in circles investigating themselves.
Burn up that hotline until it becomes useless.
Become ungovernable.
More training to turn in family, friends and neighbors who stray from government edicts; there is a picture of a lady holding up a banner “warning, you are being trained to believe your freedoms are selfish”.
This quickened pace to totalitarianism is because Extreme MAGA has arrived and big brother is sceered.
I wonder which rich Grocery store owner in N.J.
donated to Dictator Goofytooth’s reelection fund for this crap ??
stores here are now making a killing selling cloth bags!
I went to WAWA and saw about a dozen thru out the store
what a scheme to make Companies bottom line larger!
