I don’t need to add anything to this. Page 14 of my unpublished wisdom book says: the space between words is the most important sound you will ever hear when listening to people positioning for influence or affluence. Learn how to hear what they don’t say, and others will think you are wise beyond imagining.
Hit play and just watch for 30 seconds. Prompted:
NOTE: James Comer from the state of Kentucky (think Mitch McConnell) was specifically installed by the GOPe as the ranking member of the House Oversight and Govt Affairs Committee (replacing Jim Jordan, June 2020), as a proactive move by the DeceptiCons, for exactly this insurance policy.
If Republicans get the House in the mid-terms, Comer becomes Chairman of the House Oversight Committee. Do you remember the concept of “Chaff and Countermeasures”? Fast-n-Furious, IRS targeting, etc. James Comer is specifically installed to block and wreck any House oversight effort into FBI, DOJ and Biden corruption. It’s likely Comer has a zipper problem that the Fourth Branch know about.

This is why Susan Collins has said, in so many words, that President Trump and his MAGA following will not be an issue in 2024. The sitting Queen of RINO’s knows the plan. She probably authored it.
she, among others (including me), has no idea what 2024 will look like.
these are very interesting times. the petrodollar is dead. we are at war with russia (and, whether we admit it or not, china and about 85% of the population of the world). we have very little unencumbered gold. current financial asset price levels were very recently based on zero, in some cases negative, interest rates. inflation is now in double digits.
Career politicians are trapped by mutually assured destruction; should one or more of them rat on Congressional corruption. Kevin McCarthy’s attack on Cawthorn’s whistleblowing is a prime example.
AND MGT…yet Liz is fully supported as a card-carrying, leader in the R party.
Been ready for 3rd party and we are fooling ourselves thinking the r’s will EVER listen, represent or support conservative ideas…..
I’d settle for a legitimate SECOND party.
Right now we just have two wings on the same corrupt vulture.
Sometimes it is easier and more efficient to walk away from something that is so filthy dirty that it is beyond cleansing and start fresh and build a new thing from scratch.
Right now a 3rd Party will only defeat Patriots and elect RATS.
FILL THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WITH PATRIOTS.
That’s what McConnell is terrified of!!!
How? They are nearly completely captured by the Globalists and by Big Money.
They own the entire party apparatus. The honest candidate never even makes it to the primary.
If you want to try, God bless you.
I would rather start from scratch.
But I guess there is no harm in attacking the Beast from two fronts.
If MAGAs cannot possibly be elected then how do you explain Marjorie Taylor Greene?
it’s really not even conservative ideas. it’s the rule of law. it is representative government.
those rs won’t listen. get them out. get better in. continue the reforms trump started. if one has to, elect a democrat in a red district to get a decepticon out. there is a reason those seats are up every two years.
Was talking to Ryan Zinke at a Republican gets together a few days ago. He is running for the new US House of Representative seat that Montana recently acquired.
He said he personally spoke with McCarthy, McConnell and Trump about the recently revealed audio where McCarthy said he was going to tell Trump to resign.
Zinke said all was reconciled between the three men and that McCarthy was sure to be the next Speaker of the House, and that he, Zinke, would be proud to cast his vote for McCarthy, and that all the Republican members of the House felt the same way.
I will NOT vote for Zinke.
Folk’s anyone looking for swamp rat to take a firm position against another swamp rat is a fools folly.
Impeachment is s shiny object to divert your/our attention from the treason that took place. What happened on 11/3/20 requires much more than a strongly worded letter or a silly political show trial in the legislative branch aka the rats nest presided over by swamp rat extraordinaire John “Ben” Roberts Chief Justice of the “No Standing” Supreme Court.
Get real.
Note: Ben from the movie Willard.
It requires action – by we the people. We should all know that by now.
These jerks can walk and chew gum at the same time when helping the left ruin the country but can’t when it involves trying to save it. Disgusting cowards, traitors, or both.
Just following the WEF plan….
Tell me how my vote in the mailin only state of COLO means anything, especially with Dominion US hdqtrs is here in Denver?
We also have 24/7 unmanned, no surveillance drop boxes.
Defund The Thought Police!
I’ve been saying this here for a while now. I and many others I talk to want to see them IMPEACH Joe Biden. I don’t even care if it successful or not. I want to put his administration through what they did to Trump for four years. If the Republicans don’t grow some balls and start fighting in the same sandbox as the Democrats I will NEVER vote for them again…EVER.
It’s not about growing balls, rather its about integrity and honesty. You either have those or you don’t.
Could not agree more.
The latter is lacking in spades, especially in DC
As someone has posted here before, it’s all about courage…you either have or you don’t.
Courage by Edgar A. Guest circa 1916
The truth needs to be made public. Whatever it is.
When did impeachment become a more serious crime than treason. We will never make it until you people get your priorities right. Our election system in the United States has already been successfully destroyed.
I’ve have met Rep Comer several times and he is a straight shooter.
Why should we waste our time impeaching Joe Biden? He won’t be convicted as there are not enough votes in the Senate to accomplish that. We certainly don’t want Kamala as President.
Win the house first and then elect President Trump Speaker of the House is the best way to get through this crisis.
Mark Steyn has a quote that I love when it comes to interactions with any level of the state, “The process is the punishment.”
How can Trump be speaker? He is not a member of Congress.
Nowhere in the constitution is there a provision stating that the Speaker of the House must be drawn from the membership of the House. Anyone can be appointed Speaker.
Doesn’t have to be!
If’s not clarified in the Constitution that the Speaker has to be an elected member of the House – although the Speaker has always been an elected House member. Also the Attorney General does not need to be a lawyer. Be interesting if s president appointed the head of NYC vice division as AG.
I was going to mention this in my prior post about speaker of the House. There is also no requirement that justices of the Supreme Court have to be attorneys.
I suspect that in 1790 there were fine distinctions between attorney, lawyer, and solicitor that are lost now. The Solicitor General does need to be a lawyer because that person argues before the Supreme Court.
We don’t need to impeach Biden, we need to impeach his handlers, who are really running things, and fire and prosecute miscreants like Christopher Wray and other top FBI and DOJ officials, the principals in the Russiagate conspiracy, and anyone else who has violated the rights of the people through surveillance and harrassment. This would particularly include those who prosecuted Michael Flynn and Andrew Weissmann.
Impeaching Biden, while desirable, would change nothing and be a distraction from what really needs to be done to stop runaway government agencies.
Impeach!
Impeachment?
Nah.
Trials for treason and the ultimate punishment?
Yep.
because something has to be put back on them. the prob of trump becoming speaker is 0.0
It is not a waste of time though. You get the impeachment on the record. I expect EVERY democrat president to be impeached when Republicans control the House, going forward. Whether it is successful or not is completely immaterial.
So right!
On the record means nothing to these criminals. It would be a distracting, expensive waste of time. Impeachment used to mean something.
Doesn’t matter! Democrats need a piece of their own medicine! The House can impeach, even if The senate doesn’t do anything!!!
Do tell us exactly where the support would come from to elect President Trump Speaker. The majority of the GOP in Congress hate President Trump and would NEVER vote for him no matter how much pressure they got from the voters back home. I see people advocate this all the time here. What am I missing? There is no way it would ever happen.
Put Biden’s acrtual crimes on record. Any Democrat that does not convict for actual felony graft and corruption that rises to the level of treason has to justify their actions in the next election.
If you’re not going to impeach the likes of Biden and Obama, there is no point in having the law.
Before Sandbox vet Samuel Finlay posted his brilliant piece Kayfabe in Kiev two months ago, he had already posted this excellent piece months earlier:
Requiem for The ‘Stan:
“…It was all so long ago and far away that it seemed to have little bearing on the perpetual Current Year until now. Such doings in an obscure front in The Forever War do not mingle easily with meaningless office paperwork, CRT, “mostly peaceful protests,” The Wu-Tang Flu, “Fortified” elections, or the Transgender-Industrial Complex. Those moments in that place still carry so much weight for me that I can hardly take much of my stateside life since then seriously, let alone the pathetic senile farce that is the contemporary Globalist American Empire. One simply goes with the flow and waits for the next set; the next season in which you get to live again with the same ardor and purpose as you once did.
It would appear that time draws near.
Something is coming and we can all feel it. We could even back then. Someone once warned, “What an empire does abroad, follows it home.” Having served this machine on a couple of fronts, I see more and more evidence for the truth of that statement around me, and while it brings with it a measure of dread, it also brings a measure of hope.
Things an average grunt knew after only a few weeks In-Country have escaped the confines of The Brass and the curation of their partners in the media for all to see. The schemes of Ivy League Brainiacs and their delusions of ‘liberating’ the world and assimilating it into their post-national managerial Longhouse seem so shabby and absurd in the cold light of dawn. Twenty years’ worth of veterans have chewed the dust of faraway lands now reverting to their former masters, and we are left with the hard realization we have been in service to a country ran by people who not only don’t believe in countries anymore, but are shamelessly inept and corrupt, and that this has been the case since before we were born.
As Afghanistan falls before our eyes, we remember the blood-price from days gone by and wonder: what did we buy with it? Our battles belong to those of us who fought them, but they were ultimately in service to policies; policies created by those who are at best indifferent to our existence, or worse, have placed themselves in a state of war with us. Though it seems inflammatory to write such things even at this late hour, the court eunuchs have implied such things for years and now are increasingly explicit in their fever dreams of eliminating their political opposition. And it is a failure of what leaders we have on ‘our side’ that they have refused to take them at their word.
Already the talking heads have begun likening to the Taliban any here among us who would oppose them and the policies they promote. They must deflect. They must craft the story to fit their objectives. The failure of GloboHomo in the graveyard of empires? Shift fire back to the Proles. How dare the Kulaks dissent. How dare we challenge the authority of the credentialed classes and their masters. How dare we cling to such provincial loyalties as to God or family or country. They could permit such outdated notions so long as they served as leverage for goading us into hurling ourselves at distant strangers, but when it entails cultivating our interests within our own borders, it cannot be borne.
Every day, what has been my home feels more and more like an occupied country. Frustrated abroad and blinded by an almost demonic frenzy of resentment and utopian megalomania, the Leviathan turns with increased zeal upon its host. The mandates become continually more bizarre and shrill, with the stakes only getting higher. American citizens are being spied upon, imprisoned, fired, censored, lied to, manipulated, robbed, and killed, and those in the halls of power either incite it, enable it, or look away.
And yet, if Haji can endure the Leviathan and win, so can we.
By growing more severe and repressive in its methods, the regime hemorrhages legitimacy at home and around the world. As many have noted, it can no longer inspire or seduce, but must compel. There were many in my unit who enlisted after 9/11; who would join now? The regime’s occasional attempts to feign the old patriotism that galvanized generations prior seem so shallow and threadbare as to elicit sadness. People can no longer bring themselves to love and serve a country that has dispensed with the pretense of loving and serving them. It has become painfully apparent that we have crossed a threshold, and there is no going back.
I have heard it said that it is better for a man to lose a battle when he’s young if it keeps him from losing a war when he’s old. We have lost Afghanistan. We killed a great many of them, yes, but once again Ol’ Haj outlasted a foreign empire with delusions of grandeur, and the strong among them have retaken their clay. Haji is welcome to it. They got their last klick out of Sarge.
I suspect our struggle here though is just beginning. Formal institutions and avenues of influence are all but closed to those outside the managerial consensus. Most of America has been deemed “deplorable” as a citizenry whose wishes are no longer of any consequence to those in authority, and are not entitled to representation in any meaningful way. It is my hope this can be changed peacefully. Stranger things have happened.
However we do it, this enterprise before us will take a great deal of sacrifice and toil in the coming years, but also present us with opportunities to rediscover, explore, defend, and build anew. We don’t have to live this way; “tis not too late to seek a newer world.”
I like to think that some of what us ‘GWOT’ hands learned downrange in the war of our youth will help us achieve such ends. And I would find it somewhat fitting if the long road we took through Afghanistan wound up helping us find our way home.”…….
Thanks TGL for sharing this. Pulitzer worthy is there ever was.
Pulitzers don’t deserve him. But I take your point.
Profound…..yet heartbreakingly wistful….
We are reaping what was sown in the 60s and 70s on college campuses throughout the US and abroad…it was so easy for so many to go along to get along…it still is…
There are glimmers of resistance which the author of the article referenced is pointing toward….
But my instincts tell me we are cruising at a high rate of speed toward our country’s undoing….with the November midterms being the destroyers’ deadline….
As always….hoping I am wrong.
History is repeating itself. Look up “The U.S. Committee on Public Information” under the Wilson administration and the 4 minute men to disburse his propaganda. Then look up Wilson’s rewrite of American history in the 1890s, changing it to Progressive Socialist propaganda.
“As soon as wealth came to be a mark of distinction and an easy way to gain renown…and political power, Virtue began to decline.
Poverty was now looked upon as a disgrace and a blameless life as a sign of ill nature. …Squandering with one hand what they grabbed with the other, they set small value on their own property while they coveted that of others.
Honor and modesty, all laws divine and human, were alike disregarded in a spirit of recklessness and intemperance…”
The view of the late Roman Republic c. 100 B.C. of the Roman historian Sallust, translation by Professor S.A. Handford in the Penguin Books edition.*
Sallust soured on the everything he saw in the late Republic, including dictators promising to restore the Republic, but instead adding to its decline.
Are The Swamp and our present “elites” any different from the description above, given characters like Billy Jeff Clinton and his wife, Epstein, Comey, McConnell, McCarthy, et alii ?
* This quotation is specifically found on p. 182 of Sallust: The Jugurthine War, The Conspiracy of Catiline from Sallust’s commentary on the conspiracy of Catiline, a would-be dictator whose coup d’etat was foiled by the senator Cicero.
All empires collapse. Ours is no different. Great Britain sustained a global empire for about the same length of time as we have ours. They suffered similar defeats as we as they struggled to subdue those people who wished to rule themselves. The noble-sounding tropes “defend democracy” and “promote democracy” we nothing more than the sledgehammers used to bust down the doors of those who have what THEY need.
When people ask me what the greatest history book ever written is, I always reply that it is the Bible. Every foible of mankind is represented in the stories of that excellent book. Solutions are offered, but most often rejected. In the end, it is a story of the nature of man, his struggle against himself, and the inevitable conclusion that salvation, liberty, and the freedom he seeks do not lie in the here and now. Mankind continues to reject the wisdom of the ages in favor of the illusion of control. My God, they actually believe they can control the climate. That tells you everything you need to know about the reality of our empire.
Impeach Joe Biden? Sure, but why does Maria stop there and focus solely on the meat puppet rather than the cabal of criminals in all 4 branches of our government who have plotted, funded and executed this evil scheme against the majority of Americans? Davos Maria is using the distraction trick.
The two corrupt tools with whom she is script-reading are playing their parts as planned. I’ll give Ron Johnson slightly higher marks since he did chair the expert panel discussions re. what went wrong with the government’s and healthcare industry’s covid response last fall, when no one else would touch the topic.
why would a R say D’s wasted time impeaching Joe Biden?
when did D’s impeach Joe Biden?
I picked up on that too. Apparently everybody else missed it.
He meant the D’s wasted time impeaching Trump. I doubt D’s agree with that statement.
It has become obvious that these pols don’t care about the country at all . We need the Presidency to enact legislation and they have no intention of letting Trump win again.
We need to clean up our election corruption.
There is not just one bad person in place in D.C., we have many critical problems.
Then somebody should have immediately corrected him, or they weren’t really listening.
he misspoke. he meant trump.
A very strong reason against the fallacious statement “If you dont vote, you dont have a voice.” So if I vote Democrat, I get guaranteed corruption. If I vote for either of these 2 Republican candidates I get cowards too afraid to fight corruption.
Sometimes my only real representation of my true voice is my middle-finger
Or trigger-finger.
After the scheisse jd vance flung at candidate DJT I am seriously troubled at the idea POTUSDJT would ask me to vote for the scorpion!
I will likely vote for him tomorrow with a clothes pin firmly clamped upon my nose however if vance stings me as have so many others that vote may well be my last.
I had a friend, an Army Ranger no less, long lost to agent orange cancer who refused to vote saying it was a waste of time. Bill if you can hear me I fear you were right just ahead of your time.
Robert Heinlein taught me if I don’t know who to vote for I can usually know how to vote against.
I wonder what RAH would say today?
55 years of voting for president. Score 2 for, 5 or more against.
I think he’d not say anything, but would be sharpening his sword and hoisting the Jolly Roger.
We need more like him today.
Oscar Gordan’s sword.
http://www.christianfletcher.com/_Media/lady-v-1a_med_hr.jpeg
he would say stop waiting for heroes to save you.
He would say be the hero you are waiting for.
The state run media strikes again.
We’ve listened to their outrage for years, and there’s no action to go with it.
If we took the White House, and had a supermajority in the house and senate, we’d still be funding the democrat agenda.
We’ve seen that act before.
Republicans aren’t cowards.
They are covertly complicit.
So in other words, they won’t do a damn thing.
A message for the Uniparty:
Habakkuk 2:16: You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink and let your nakedness be exposed! The cup from the LORD’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.
Have faith people, as Habakkuk did:
That’s everything we need to know about the GOP.
MAGA or death.
Death to the GOP
Biden must be impeached for his lawless disregard for Congress on Immigration by importing millions of people without approval. Mayorkas must be impeached the same day for sheer incompetence and fraud in carrying out that lawless immigration and lying about it. On second thought maybe Vice President Hyena should be impeached first for being an embarrassment before frick & frack.
Hyena should be impeached for dereliction; Border Czar duties were shirked off.
WOW! … the way they froze!
I’m over 70… by now, I can predict what they’re gonna do (or, more likely, won’t do).
However, watching this made me smile… yep! Their same old selves! The main feature of the the GOP is their uselessness.
I wouldn’t mind if they were merely useless.
But they are actively, and worse yet covertly, aiding and abetting the Marxist-Globalists.
Leave the demented old fart in office while he rushes us towards WWIII. Get this clown out ASAP before we no longer need to worry about inflation and the border. Republicans are just as evil as the Democrat brothers and sisters.
All I can write is:
FUBAR
Both men are slime
Five thirty eight gives him (Johnson) a score of 86% agreeing with MAGA when Trump was in office. That’s good enough for me. He’s my Senator and I see no one in the wings close to 86% MAGA. He also had public meetings with medical people who disagreed with policy on covid, so it gets written into the Senate records (evidence) should there be any legal proceedings against public officials.
Isn’t Johnson also part of the committee that’s been cataloging all of Hunter’s grifting?
Seems like they all have a “zipper problem.”
Which means no impeachment no truth
Of course the republicans won’t impeach a demented and defenseless democrat. That would take cojones. But, I hear they are going to repeal and replace Obamacare.
The dynamic can all change instantly with a MAGA elected as Majority Leader.
That is why it is critical that McCarthy get taken out. MTG won’t be leading the charge. Who will?
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mccarthy-gets-standing-ovation-during-house-gop-meeting-after-leaked-audio-tapes
Not even Matt Gaetz is calling for McCarthy to resign. Just more righteous indignation tweets:
Instead of lobbing complaints about GOPe politicians you should be providing advice on how to get rid of them. They need to be Cantor’d. Our voting strategy should always be: primary the RINOs, but vote all-GOP in November. It’s really that simple. This should be a message repeated daily, and should be pinned at the top of your blog.
Maybe in your area, but COLO GOP doesn’t support many Constitutionalists even at the county level. Most are just go along to get elected type candidates.
With Boebert the wonderful exception.
It is almost as if you can actually see a big RED “P” for PHONY on Smug Comer’s forehead as he speaks- and you can just sense that he is a total self -serving / a— kissing jerk, IMHO
Hell will freeze over before republicans impeach Biden. Republicans did not lift a finger to overturn the stolen election.
If there were any evidence they wanted MAGA and to transform into America First I would embrace that.
But there is no such evidence. The party is not going to reform.
The past 1.5 years have been a huge wasted opportunity to begin exploring alternatives to the dead rotting hulk of a carcass Republican Party.
The inaction of republicans since they rolled for the stolen election has been pathetic and striking. A new political entity would not be easy to create but how long will conservatives engage in wishful thinking that the republican magical transformation is coming up after the mid terms this time for sure.
We need Kentucky MAGA to become NEVER-McConnell. Vote against him in every election – even if a Dem wins.
DeceptiCons! Perfect description !!
What we really need is Republicans with a little bit more intelligence. To fight the evil left, we can’t have buffoons in office anymore.
Actually it is the wrong / useless question and M . B. is playing her part of the script , I think , and get ready for Comer to be the new “rooster head” ( Gowdy) …
We do not have a government, we have a malignant, metastasized cancer bathing in a toxic monopoly media culture that delights in human suffering. WH correspondence dinner humor (Sky News) >
This morning Steve Bannon spoke for us after watching this display: “I despise these people.”
We truly are on our own. Sad.
Comer basically says without saying that “We don’t want to impeach Biden because we need to focus on things Americans care about like the economy, inflation, blah, blah, blah…”
No, we want all these assholes heads to roll for what they have done to us and our children on purpose! We can fix the other stuff later.
They could walk and chew gum at the same time, if they wanted to.
Trouble is, they don’t want to do either (impeach Biden, or focus on the economy, etc.).
The sorry excuse of we can only concentrate on one issue at a time is just that, an excuse. Democrats waste no time mult-tasking.
Actually we CAN”T fix any of the other criminal acts against our nation UNTIL we bring those corrupt crooks who engineered or who assisted the election fraud in any way – including those in Congress who denied the steaL OR who remained silent in the face of massive evidence!
You’d think they could walk and chew gum at the same time
Seems to me they want easy street when they get to DC. None of these people would have great success in the private sector which expects results.
It is smart politics to say the focus will be the economy. That is the #1 issue with voters. There will be 300 GOP Congress people with staffs and they will be able to do many things at once, but getting elected is the first step.
Look for the cheating in the primaries this year. This is where most of it will happen. This also gives them a firewall between now and the actual midterms. If a mess load of MAGA types pull off the primaries I don’t believe there will be an election or something drastic will happen to postpone it or significantly change the rules.
Good to know that extortion, bribery, and graft aren’t impeachable offenses.
All RINO’s must be eliminated, Not by voting either…just saying. Same with all the Communists, er DemonRATS.
What is the difference between American politics and fake wrestling?
Nothing…
Everyone should act accordingly at this point however it seems far too many still think it’s all real…
just don’t even want to vote anymore, what does it matter, in virginia have already been disenfranchised by the DC bedroom communities
Hey, Virginia is slowly turning around, don’t lose hope. At least you got a GOP governor in which surprised everyone else, even if he is lukewarm.
There are snake hunters in Florida that capture and remove boas and pythons in the Evergrades. There are rattlesnake hunters that remove rattlesnakes in people’s yards in California. Perhaps it’s time to send the snake hunters to the swamp?
It’s time to start over. No one can be trusted. Jim Jordan would have nuked the Democratic party and burnt a lot of “Republicans” in the process.
Zipper Problems are not necessarily a problem as it is who was pulling the zipper, which causes the problem, as in the case of Rep Van Taylor’s (ex-TX-3) who was doing the fang fang with an ISIS Female Commando. So, Rep Comer did something naughty with an enemy agent.
The Republicans will probably regain the House with a very “close” majority…it will be a 2010 Ryan Redux….if for no other reason than to “prove election reforms are working”.
It is a 100% sure thing that the democrats retain the Senate and likely in the same numerical configuration as currently exists. There is NO alternative as the Senate is the screen protecting the JoeBama Executive.
Comer said, “Democrats wasted a lot of time trying to impeach Joe Biden.”
Maria did not correct him. Do these people even listen to each other?
Damn, such incompetence is really mind-numbing.
They are reading from a script, which is being repeated in their earbuds by the producer managing and directing the show.
Pretty hard to listen in the scenario.
The good thing about trees is that they don’t discriminate — they believe in equal opportunity. They will willingly serve to hang either Democrats, Republicans, or both, as need be.
I would think that if your constituents want him impeached, you should, as their Representative, listen to and do what your constituents want.
I can describe them in 3 seconds – they’re about as effective as a screen door in a submarine.
Comer has that kind of smirk on his face you want to wipe off with a shovel…even though the shovel didn’t do anything to deserve it.
Comer is a wussy RHINO
I tire of this mentality of “We just need to get rid of the Rinos and then everything will be well with the GOP.”
It’s the corruptive aspects of the system itself which few if any representatives can withstand. Tolkien-esque: the corruptive power of the One Ring is too much for even the most virtuous of Hobbits like Frodo to not eventually succumb to.
Many newbies enter D.C. well-intentioned and earnest, and almost overnight they are sat down by their party bosses and given the spiel of how things really work in D.C. If only we had term limits! I don’t care how MAGA they might be going in as new representatives. Almost overnight the corruption begins to take root in them and they become Rinos. It’s practically impossible to avoid, just a matter of time. Hence why for their sake and their constituents, that time needs to be limited.
Term limits are not the answer. Michigan has had term limits since the early 1990’s, with clearly no discernible impact upon corruption. It has only resulted in many more “retired” politicians drawing lifetime pensions and healthcare packages than state taxpayers had supported previously.
Some people are just more prone to evil than others. If a way could be devised to test for evil, and then bar those most prone to it from positions of power – then the entire trajectory of the human race would be turned upside-down.
A test as to whom is more prone to evil? Lol! Sounds Pre-Crime. Authoritarian much? Good luck with that. As for term limits, I well know the negatives. There are no perfect solutions for an imperfect humanity. The debate is whether the positives outweigh the negatives.
I agree that term limits are not the answer. They may even make things worse (with elections) as the new breed of progressives are often far more dangerous than the criminals who have been in office a long time. Compare any of the old dems (Pelosi, Biden, and so on) to the new ones (AOC and the rest of the squad). I would rather have none of them, but if I had to choose I would rather have another Pelosi than an AOC.
The problem is that the very person that seeks power should not have it. But that is everyone that runs for office.
I’d say for congress every representative should be chosen by lot. Draft regular citizens, randomly, to represent their district. Have them serve a number of years (here is where term limits come into play) and then retire them and conduct another draft. Congress will better reflect the will of the people and more than likely its members will do a better job than the current bunch.
Didn’t one of the ancient Greek city-states do that?
Those most able to seek office are almost always those least able to handle power wisely.
Sounds like jury duty. If you have ever sat on a jury then you know that isn’t the answer either. Some real doozies get picked for court cases that I wouldn’t want making decisions, but then again look at what we are stuck with.
Well, why not eliminate the lifetime pensions and healthcare packages?
I don’t think Washington or Adams or Jefferson had any of those perks.
That my dear friend would require a constitutional amendment. Congress has complete authority over spending including how much they spend on themselves.
Also have power on ‘term limits’ issue.
And we the people need to see THAT list!’
That is an answer that will never happen. Take away the perks, that would be glorious.
Sadly Clarissa it mattters little what we do. People are now addicted tto drugs, alcohol, porn or an IPhone. We are beyond help.
Along with term limits there needs to be no lifetime benefits
It doesn’t matter what “WE” want because our Country is gone. Nancy Pelousi, acting at President of the US just went to Ukraine and gave Zelensky 33 billion in funny money. There is zero rule of law and Bill Barr is whining about Donald Trump.
We are, right now, Venezuela only bigger. There is no border and if white people go out and protest the Communists will turn on their Long Range Frequency Devices and cook us alive.
We have been a version of a dictatorship for a very long time and 2016 ripped the door off the hinges for clear vision
You get it.
THANK you! The system itself allowed, helped this takeover. So now we know “representative republics” don’t work, either, they are just taken over by crooks and murderers. New RINOs won’t help, nor will a new “party”. Just refusal to consent, mass secessions all over the country, rural from urban, West NY for East NY, Southern Va from Northern. Contract for defense/police protection, and kick out people who don’t honor their contracts. Oust the cities and make them rule themselves and leave us alone. The only just form of government requires consent of the people.
1 Samuel 8
The Founding Fathers set it up that WE THE PEOPLE be the term limits and as citizens we have failed horribly at doing our job.
Term limits just relinquishes Government to the bureaucrats and their agenda.
