This Sunday segment from CBS’s Margaret Brennan allows us to watch narrative engineering in real time. During a segment outlining the reasons behind the major economic issues American’s are feeling, CBS notes everything except the reason the economy is struggling. It really is quite a remarkable example of professional gaslighting.
Watch the segment, note the inflation crisis has been underway for more than 18 months, and notice how many justifications are made-up illusions. (1) A Texas-Mexico cargo checkpoint issue that started less than a week ago; (2) Trucker shortages; (3) Ukraine-Russia which started only 6 weeks ago; and (4) Pandemic lockdowns, now causing an excess in demand. None of these issues are even close to the source of the issue.
The two major drivers of inflation are both Biden policy issues. (1) Extreme federal government spending and the Fed purchasing debt. (2) The shutting down of U.S. energy development (pipelines closed or blocked, oil leases cancelled, permits pulled and refinery permits cancelled). All of this is Joe Biden policy.
On the restaurant pricing side, and likely restaurants soon to close, I would note the CTH outline from a few days ago:
You will note from Table-1 [available here] that food away from home, restaurant food, is not climbing as high as food at the grocery store (0.3% -vs- 1.5%). Restaurants are trying to keep prices down and their profit margins are being eroded. They are in a tough place, because if restaurants raise prices, they may lose customers who are already feeling pain in their checkbooks. When I went shopping yesterday in the supermarket, I grabbed a gallon of milk and said to the Black lady nest to me “Price went up again!” We had a short chat, and I gave her some tips. As we parted she said, “It wouldn’t be this bad if we had a different administration.”
Apparently Blacks are not giving the Biden administration a pass. Instinctively I knew that quoting Biden “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t Black!” would not go over well. The different administration would have to be Trump.
Inflation is affecting everyone. It is getting worse by the day, and Biden is doing nothing to stop it.

And even on the food away from home, you also have to take into account the extra cost of travel if it is more than 10 miles. Also on eating out the $ makers are on the appetizers, alcohol and deserts . So with most people consciously or unconsciously cutting back those are the items that will get cut back first. Tipping for me seems to have increased a little just because.
Yes, my husband and I generously tip more than 20%. We understand how difficult it is for wait staff to make it during this very difficult time, and we are thankful they choose to work. So many restaurants are are hiring, and some have had to close dining rooms and adjust hours of operation because of lack of workers. As the economy worsens and restaurants close, we will have to look back on eating out as “the good old days” and be thankful if there is a food supply for home cooking.
What I am seeing here in Michigan are plenty of signs for help waned and small staffs.
What I am not seeing are lines of customers. I suspect that customers.have changed there habits in a more permanent way.
My partner and I went.from eating out 12 to 15 times a week
(Boomers.still.self.employed) to 3 to 4 times.a.week.
Since she and I are.busness partners.we write.off a lot.of lunches. 60% less.this year then last.

I don’t go out to eat any more. The “plannedemic” ruined so many of the small enjoyments for me; trips to the theater, lunch out at a restaurant, shopping, etc. The “allowable” places to go where the mask nazi’s weren’t on patrol were limited and so now my spending behavior has been modified.
My favorite local grocery store restricted freedom to enter and exit to one door on one side of the store. Although they only encourage masking and social distancing, I find that it’s just not enjoyable to shop in that store due to the control measures restricting my freedom and hearing the constant exhortations on the store speakers that wearing a mask is encouraged, social distance to protect others, etc. is intrusive. Most people ignore it, but I infrequently shop there now because it is no longer a pleasant place to go.
The commie nazi’s are attempting to steal our joy, so I avoid them and their places of “business” when I can. The upside is that I’ve been saving money by shopping only at small local businesses and buying only necessities. I look at it as helping me to survive the coming crisis, and I now take pleasure in a walk around the woods, blooming trees and plants, watching animals and birds.

On Sunday when my daughter’s family was over for Easter dinner, she mentioned that just her and my son-in-law had stopped in a local chain Mexican food restaurant (initials BF for the curious) on Saturday. Just a basic lunch order and soft drinks. They had to do a double-take at the bill. When the remaining customers do a triple-take on the bill next month, these small chains and local family eateries are going to be in serious trouble. Like many sectors, they simply cannot pass along their rising costs fast enough. And at some point the business model for them stops working.
I hate to say it but we have to stop scapegoating our economic issues to parties and administrations.
This is over a century in the making and absolutely NO ONE since Andrew Jackson has tried to stop it!!!
