…and He bowed His head and dismissed His spirit.
There is a knot that builds in our throat.
Painful, yet not an ordinary discomfort.
It surfaces in one human sense…. Anguish.
Then tears.
Emotions that flow when we dare to slow down and feel.
Deeply feel.
The death of Jesus Christ, as a choice.
He hung on a cross and died for us.
So that we would know.
He had all control, and he made His choice for us.
For you.
For me.
For us.
For everyone who ever was, and ever will be.
It is finished.

Hallelujah! Jesus lives!
Beautifully written, Sundance! A much needed reminder that EVERYTHING else will fall away but He will remain…and if we abide in Him, we will be with Him for all eternity, and EVERY tear will finally be wiped away!!
“And now, I will ask you a terrible question, and God knows I ask it also of myself. Is the truth beyond all truths, beyond the stars, just this: that to live without Him is the real death, that to die with Him the only life?” Frederick Buechner
Beautiful!
Thank you.
Amen and Amen.
We sing an old hymn
“He could have called 10,000 angels.”
He could have but did not.
Thank you, Jesus!
Thank you Lord God!
He Could Have Called Ten Thousand Angels Lyrics:
They bound the hands of Jesus in the garden where He prayed;
They led Him thro’ the streets in shame.
They spat upon the Savior so pure and free from sin;
They said, “Crucify Him; He’s to blame.”
He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set Him free.
He could have called ten thousand angels,
But He died alone, for you and me.
Upon His precious head they placed a crown of thorns;
They laughed and said, “Behold the King!”
They cursed Him and they struck Him and mocked His holy name
All alone He suffered everything.
He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set Him free.
He could have called ten thousand angels,
But He died alone, for you and me.
When they nailed Him to the cross, His mother stood nearby,
He said, “Woman, behold thy son!”
He cried, “I thirst for water,” but they gave Him none to drink.
Then the sinful work of man was done.
He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set Him free.
He could have called ten thousand angels,
But He died alone, for you and me.
To the howling mob He yielded; He did not for mercy cry.
The cross of shame He took alone.
And when He cried, “It’s finished,” and gave Himself to die;
Salvation’s wondrous plan was done.
He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set Him free.
He could have called ten thousand angels,
But He died alone, for you and me.
God Bless…
Thank you Sundance !

Please help us all. Once again. Lift up all of us, since we are weak, selfish, and immoral. Grant us the strength and wisdom to carry our burdens and vanquish the evil that surrounds us.
We know the physical suffering he endured as a man was excruciating but the pain of taking on all sins both past, present and future is impossible for me to imagine. Truly the greatest love and gift bestowed on us. Thank you Lord for your Divine Mercy!
My King
Mine too.
He’s in Hell right now because of us…but, He will rise on the third day.
“Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.'”
–Acts 1:9-11[NKJV]
The Apostles’ CreedI believe in God the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son,
our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell; the third day
He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sits at
the right hand of God the Father
almighty, from thence He shall come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and life everlasting.
Amen.
Forever and always!
Thanks so much Sundance. My King.
We don’t need to fret the evil around us. The battle has already been won. We are on the right side of eternity.

Beautiful testimony SD… today and everyday. God Bless and Thank You.
Yes but it’s only Friday and as many a sermon preaches ” Sunday is a comin”!!
I love that poem.
This was the new beginning for man to have answers to life’s many trials and tribulations. Belief in the Higher Power ultimately gives peace, satisfaction and a renewed spirit.
“Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting Almighty One Yehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t grow tired or become weary. His understanding is beyond reach. He gives strength to those who grow tired and increases the strength of those who are weak. Even young people grow tired and become weary, and young men will stumble and fall. Yet, the strength of those who wait with hope in Yehovah will be renewed. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and won’t become weary. They will walk and won’t grow tired.” ~ Isaiah 40.28-31
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” ~ Romans 12.2
Amen. We live in the steadfast hope of His resurrection and His return, knowing His death was not in vain.
Praise be Jesus Christ now and forever

In the darkness of night not a star was in site
On a highway that leads down below
But Jesus came in and saved this soul from sin
Hallelujah I’m ready to go
It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming
Thank You.
Every time I see the pictures of what he endured, for us, I can’t stop myself from thinking “I am not worthy”.
Jesus is Lord
None of us is worthy. But the Lord, in His great mercy, provided a way for us to escape His coming wrath. Saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, for the Glory of God alone.
Thank you, Christ.
I often ponder this time of year, the wonder of the fact that Hitler, even after taking his poison, could have repented, and accepted Christ, and be worshiping at his feet and not in Hell.
Such is Christs redemptive power.
Jesus, I trust in You!
Overwhelming, Sundance.
Though we mourn today,
we find comfort in the hope that his death and resurrection brought to us.
Because he died, we have the gift of eternal life.
Then one of the elders said to me,” Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David,
has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.
Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain,
Rev.5:5
And they sang a new song:
You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because with your blood you purchased men for God……Rev.5:9
The debt is paid
“ it is finished “
Because you were slain and with your blood you purchased men for God
Rev.5:9
He is risen. The cross, like the tomb, os empty
“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”
— Revelation 22:20 [NKJV]
One of my favorite verses these days “Even so Lord Jesus come quickly”.
The Father gave His only Son. Could or would you do it???
What he suffered that day to save a soul like mine and all we have to do is accept it.
Yes! A gift beyond any price! Yet most are too rebellious and want to be their own god. They choose darkness forever out of His presence.
“Lord I am not worthy to receive you; but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.”
The death of Christ on the cross for the sin of the world. What a glorious demonstration of God’s love for all mankind. We are soon to depart to our Good Friday service.
I love Him with such an imperfect love. I often forget about Him as I go about the day. How could I! He is all. He is the Creator. He is beyond all imagining. I am just a small, broken creature. Yet for some reason, He cares for me and holds me in His hand. How I long for the day that I will be with Him!
What an honor it would be to be on this earth and see Him come again on the clouds! It would be an equal honor to be with Him in the clouds when He returns. Either way, such amazing Glory!
Brothers and sisters saved by Grace, we will rejoice together for eternity. I can’t wait to meet you all!
Until then, He is keeping us here for a reason. Lets strive to complete the work he has set before us, whatever that may be, to the best of our ability. All for His Glory!
Hallelujah! What a Savior!!
They can never, ever, ever, ever take Him from us.
How great and awesome is a GOD, our GOD, who gives you a piece of Himself, to live and mingle inside of you, as often as you want it. Your daily bread, for true sustenance in this life.
He never fails and never leaves you. Drawing you to Him, with perfect love.
May all the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation- to it be glory and honor forever. Amen.
This week I have been reading John, chapters 14-17, over and over in different English translations that once belonged to my parents and grandparents. If you have a thirsty soul here is where you will find satisfaction. Jesus steps right out of the pages and sits beside you while he tells you all that is in his heart: “Jesus answered him, If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” – John 14:23
Very lovely. Also John 17 in KJV or other English translations. I am fond of KJV.
Hallelujah. I serve a Risen Saviour.
Magnificent!
I love you too!
The magnitude of his life and death, for us❤🙏
Amen
The first time I remember seeing a picture of Jesus on the cross, I was 5yo in Bible school…..I felt that sadness you describe probably for the real first time…have not forgotten its affect on me.
I tried to attach a picture, system not allowing me to do so. If you draw out a map of the tribes of Israel as camped in the Sinai desert, the camp formed the shape of a cross (aerial view).
Got your email, and I’m happy to post it for you…
Thank you!
What book is this from? I bet it would make for interesting reading!
“Hidden Treasures in the Biblical Text” by Chuck Missler.
If you look at the last letter of the ancient, not modern, Hebrew alphabet…the letter “tav”…it is also a cross.
Aleph tau (tav) is the Hebrew equivalent of the Greek alpha omega. My favorite occurrence of it in the Old Testament is in the Hebrew version of Zechariah 12:10: “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication, then they will look on Me Aleph Tau [untranslated into English] whom they pierced , and yes they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.”
Aleph Tau also occurs in Genesis 1:1: “In beginning created Elohim Aleph Tau [untranslated] the heavens and the earth.” Jesus is our Aleph and Tau, Alpha and Omega, Genesis and Revelation!

Thank you Sundance!
Man this is just that time when it really hits home. Have a wonderful weekend all.
Thank You Jesus. I love You and I trust You
I told my child today: For a moment, set aside the divinity of Jesus. Contemplate his acts as man. He did not preach against the state (render unto Ceasar), but he preached against the elite. Jesus’ message was of love and compassion, forgiveness and respect for God. The elite tortured him to death for teaching people to be nice. There are those 2000 years ago who were so evil (you are not of my father), and they are still among us today. I relayed that the relative peace and prosperity the child enjoys is because of Jesus’ teaching as followed by Christians building the society he enjoys. Jesus was truly a divine gift to humanity, and he was murdered. Next lecture is Jesus showing his power over the murdering filth of humanity to establish his Christian followers where all are welcome. I look forward to the Easter talk.
God Bless!
Sundance – I must thank you for always providing the most keen insights. In all matters. Thank you for all you do and for shining Light amongst the darkness.
I envy Treepers’ close personal relationship with THE CHRIST. When I look for HIM it is as though I am being sucked into the sun. HE is way too much for me to comprehend.
Jesus.
I believe in you.
Thank you.
This hits hard but also uplifts:
There’s always a new day, until Jesus comes again! Thanks for sharing.
King of Kings
That’s exactly what happened to me this morning. Suddenly. Out of the blue.
Sundance,
That’s interesting…you didn’t know that Jesus went to Hell when he died.
Mea Culpa.
KC, I was always taught that the hell in the Apostles Creed wasn’t hell in the sense we think of it but rather Limbo (also referred to as Sheoul or Abrahams Bosom) where the waiting souls were. In traditional Catholic teaching, the gates of heaven were locked tight at the Fall and so after His death but before His Resurrection Jesus unlocked the gates of heaven.
No.
He went to Hell.
What you are talking about is Purgatory.
Ephesians 4:9, he descended into the lower regions of the earth (Sheol; not Gehenna, which is the outer darkness).
Jesus went to take His Faithful Old Testament people who died before being saved. Their debt was paid and He took them home.
As He brings all of His sheep home, for He is the Good Shepherd appointed by His Father.
He suffered hell – rejection by God the Father – on the cross, not after he died. His work was finished after that rejection (“My God, my God, why have w forsaken me?”). And Jesus said, “It is finished.” Then died. And his saving work was accomplished. But he still had to rise (and ascend bodily to heaven).
No.was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell; the third day
He rose again from the dead;
The Father never ‘rejected’ Jesus. Christ was teaching us until His final breath. He was quoting Psalms 22, which was written nearly a thousand years before. He wanted us to know it was all prophesied. Proof through the ages. Also, the Cup He asked to be taken from Him was NOT the crucifixion, but the Cup of Wrath He will pour out at His return on The Lord’s Day. My Savior NEVER wanted to escape the purpose of being. He knew He must die to save the world.
The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son,
our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell; the third day
He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sits at
the right hand of God the Father
almighty, from thence He shall come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and life everlasting.
Amen.
Yes, you are correct! He went to hell to show all down there that he conquered death. He conquered sin. He conquered the devil. He gave all those in the ring of fire a chance to repent-still and follow him to heaven. I don’t think many Christian religions of today that aren’t steeped in Catholicism know the Apostle’s Creed or Nicene Creed. They tend to overlook the darker side of the Bible and God. They want the God who loves and forgives, but forget he’s also a God to be feared and respected.
Every practicing Presbyterian knows the creed … in our PCA church we recite it weekly. Our teaching agrees fully with what you say about Christ’s accomplishments during his brief time in hell.
I’ve never heard or read that when our Lord descended into hell that he gave those people already there the opportunity to repent, get out and get into Heaven.
Please, what are your sources for that comment?

Thank you!
Jesus said to the thief on his right “ Today you will be with me in Paradise “
He descended to lead captivity captive and preached the good news to all the righteous who had died before and BY FAITH were looking for him.
All men everywhere were always saved by faith Before Christ and after resurrection.
I am a David and can relate to King David. He looked ahead, as did Job “I know my Redeemer lives”. I have the benefit of looking back. But it is still a decision made By Faith. For without Faith it is impossible to please God
