I look at that mess, and wonder how much was truly necessary?
When you compare translations, you find the vast majority of differences are simply different ways of saying the same thing. That is true here too.
There may be serious theology hidden in the change from power to authority or the change of by to in or by to through, both discussing creation. But if it is important enough to correct, it is important enough to explain. The church has a long history of balancing the Trinity and it is easy to say things that get you labeled a heretic. So explain why KJV is wrong when it is important.
Instead, this looks like a petty act of dominance of one man over another. Or since KJV became the dominant English translation for hundred’s of years, maybe it is a petty act of frustrated rebellion against the History that made KJV language deeply woven into everything in America of the past. Now that we see that removing KJV from society has become removing God from society, maybe such messes can be rethought.
Unless you can read ancient Hebrew, Latin and Aramaic you are depending on someone to translate the Bible. The newer translations recognize our language is a living language (unlike Latin which is not) and has changed over the centuries. If there is a translation that is very wrong there would be numerous scholars pointing that out.
I can remember when ‘Good News For Modern Man’ came out:
The Good News for Modern Man was the original New Testament form of the Good News Translation, first published in 1966 by the American Bible Society as a clear, everyday English version using dynamic equivalence. It sold over 30 million copies in its first five years and became an all-time paperback bestseller.
It was more controversial among conservative Christians and some traditional Bible readers than among the general public.
The main objections were:
“Thought-for-thought” translation: It used Eugene Nida’s dynamic equivalence method, prioritizing clear meaning over word-for-word correspondence. Critics feared this gave translators too much freedom to interpret the text.
Informal language: Traditionalists disliked its conversational American English and its rejection of older biblical vocabulary such as “thee,” “thou,” and “behold.”
Interpretive renderings: Some passages were paraphrased or explained rather than translated literally. For example, critics objected when metaphors such as “blood” were rendered in some contexts as “death.”
Theological concerns: Conservative critics argued that certain word choices weakened or altered doctrines, especially concerning Christ’s nature, atonement, and biblical authority.
Illustrations and format: The modern line drawings, inexpensive paperback design, and association with youth culture made it seem too casual or “secular” to some readers.
Its title: “Good News for Modern Man” was also criticized as male-centered; the publisher later used Good News Bible and eventually Good News Translation.
Despite these criticisms, it was an enormous success. Its popularity among young people, church groups, new English speakers, and readers unfamiliar with traditional Bible language far outweighed the early opposition. The controversy became more intense later, especially in disputes involving Robert Bratcher and conservative evangelicals, rather than preventing its initial success.

I listen and try to learn from these scholars, but I don’t trust them.
Too many agendas.
Take the end of Mark. Our oldest complete manuscripts mostly don’t have it. It must have been added later.. So go it must.
But we protest, so they put it in with disclaimers and will wean us from it.
But 200 years before those intact manuscripts, church fathers used most of it in their writings.
That is proof it preexisted those “intact” manuscripts. It wasn’t added later as they claim. It was removed. Then and again now.
And you have aptly described how they twist the translations to support their modern cultural twisted agendas.
Unfortunately, I don’t know any of these ancient languages. Nor am I dialed in to their scholarly literature. Which leaves me groping for what little leaks out into popular literature or utube interviews. And that tends to be even more biased than the scholarly stuff. Interviewers and interviewed each can have agendas.
But who else is there to turn to?
Worse, academic scholarship is structured around change. Whatever the field, proving the old wrong and replacing it with new guarantees a career. So today’s accepted wisdom and that 10 years from now will be very different.
So too the twisted agendas will change and be very different.
So our Bible will keep evolving. Faster than our living language evolves.

I certainly don’t know but I would start with balancing education. We went from a male centric educational system to a female centric education system and that seems to be a big part of the problem. Personally I am a proponent of keeping boys and girls in separate classes up until about 6th or 7th grade. We know they learn much differently and need different amount of physical activity.
Also I think women have to accept like men have forever, you can’t have it all. To many women are finding themself with a great career, but no life partner or children and are unhappy realizing they are missing something and don’t know where or how to focus their natural nurturing impulses , but they can’t figure out what is the problem. That is your college educated liberal white women feminist.

Danish zoophysiologist (arterioles and capillaries, Nobel 1920), dies at 75
Biography: August Krogh won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1920. He made important discoveries about how blood flows in muscles and other organs, and was awarded the prize “for his discovery of the capillary motor regulating mechanism.”
Krogh studied at the University of Copenhagen, earning his PhD in 1903. He began teaching there in 1908 and became a full professor in 1916. At the university, he led the first laboratory dedicated to animal physiology.
His research focused on how the body regulates blood flow in small blood vessels called capillaries, work which earned him the Nobel Prize. Krogh also invented a variety of scientific instruments, including a device to measure breathing.
Krogh collaborated with other famous scientists. He worked with Nobel laureates George de Hevesy and Niels Bohr on various projects. With his wife Marie Krogh, also a scientist, he first brought insulin production to Denmark.
In 1931, Krogh was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He later became a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.
Krogh and Marie had four children. Their youngest, Bodil Schmidt-Nielsen, became a well-known physiologist herself.

COMMENTARY FOR PROVERBS 3
Exhortations to obedience and faith. (1-6) To piety, and to improve afflictions. (7-12) To gain wisdom. (13-20) Guidance of Wisdom. (21-26) The wicked and the upright. (27-35)
1-6 In the way of believing obedience to God’s commandments health and peace may commonly be enjoyed; and though our days may not be long upon earth, we shall live for ever in heaven. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; God’s mercy in promising, and his truth in performing: live up to them, keep up thine interest in them, and take the comfort of them. We must trust in the Lord with all our hearts, believing he is able and wise to do what is best. Those who know themselves, find their own understandings a broken reed, which, if they lean upon, will fail. Do not design any thing but what is lawful, and beg God to direct thee in every case, though it may seem quite plain. In all our ways that prove pleasant, in which we gain our point, we must acknowledge God with thankfulness. 7-12 There is not a greater enemy to the fear of the Lord in the heart, than self-conceit of our own wisdom. Worldly wealth is but poor substance, yet, such as it is, we must honour God with it; and those that do good with what they have, shall have more to do more good with. Should the Lord visit us with trials and sickness, let us not forget that the exhortation speaks to us as to children, for our good. We must not faint under an affliction, be it ever so heavy and long, not be driven to despair, or use wrong means for relief. The father corrects the son whom he loves, because he loves him, and desires that he may be wise and good. Afflictions are so far from doing God’s children any hurt, that, by the grace of God, they promote their holiness.
13-20 No precious jewels or earthly treasures are worthy to be compared with true wisdom, whether the concerns of time or eternity be considered. We must make wisdom our business; we must venture all in it, and be willing to part with all for it. This Wisdom is the Lord Jesus Christ and his salvation, sought and obtained by faith and prayer. Were it not for unbelief, remaining sinfulness, and carelessness, we should find all our ways pleasantness, and our paths peace, for his are so; but we too often step aside from them, to our own hurt and grief. Christ is that Wisdom, by whom the worlds were made, and still are in being; happy are those to whom he is made of God wisdom. He has wherewithal to make good all his promises.
21-26 Let us not suffer Christ’s words to depart from us, but keep sound wisdom and discretion; then shall we walk safely in his ways. The natural life, and all that belongs to it, shall be under the protection of God’s providence; the spiritual life, and all its interests, under the protection of his grace, so that we shall be kept from falling into sin or trouble.
27-35 Our business is to observe the precepts of Christ, and to copy his example; to do justice, to love mercy, and to beware of covetousness; to be ready for every good work, avoiding needless strife, and bearing evils, if possible, rather than seeking redress by law. It will be found there is little got by striving. Let us not envy prosperous oppressors; far be it from the disciples of Christ to choose any of their ways. These truths may be despised by the covetous and luxurious, but everlasting contempt will be the portion of such scorners, while Divine favour is shown to the humble believer.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

An alien race has landed on our planet. The world is divided on how to react. Eventually all embrace these entities as they speak with great “enlightenment” and how to solve the world’s problems. As nations are freed and power is relinquished to these entities humans are reduced to pleasure only, until.
The entities are soon labeled conquering entities and we expel them with prejudice. The power vacuum is soon filled with dictators and murderers who use the means given us by the alien entities.
Id say this was an original thought but as we enter AI Age of Enlightenment I understand it is history repeating again.
Jesus offered us true enlightenment. All through history it’s been offered to free us from what man enslaves us with and yet we “demand a king”.
And I don’t believe evil is a separate issue but the same substance as everything God has created, it’s a necessary choice. How can an angel rebel? Yet still be totally subjective to Gods will in every respect. Only man sees in those absolutes. God is all that is created, all. And Lucifer stands before Gods throne…for permission?
We need to understand it is a choice, not a habit or a fault a choice. Then the power is ours to change.

In fact going back a few verses God makes it very clear who is in charge. Regrettably, our conscience has been “infused” with this idea of a separate independent entity that somehow defies God. This is an impossibility, and IMO has been wrongfully introduced into our thinking.
That said, evil or darkness (bad things) DOES exist, and is a necessary part of creation for reasons too complicated for most of us to fully comprehend other than it is connected to free choice and the consequences thereof.
The name Lucifer came into use via the King James translation (wrongly) and is a mistranslation of the original Hebrew word helel, meaning “shining one” or “morning star” (referring to the planet Venus). In its original historical and literary context, that passage (Isaiah 14:12) is a poetic taunt directed against the proud king of Babylon, not a supernatural devil.
The Angel of death, considered to be the most powerful angel and often referred to as the Satan (accuser or adversary) (see Job) is NOT a free agent, but is under the command of God. That said when he was tasked with collecting the soul of Moses, he twice returned empty handed complaining to God that he was SCARED of Moses, such was his (Moses) holiness. (there’s a lesson there). Evil is within us but can be “defeated” when and if we cling to and obey the word of God. “Evil” cannot make us do things, but can only offer or fool us into making the wrong choices. Do that enough times and for sure “evil” will exist and radiate out as a consequence.

When we see all these people screaming and fighting against (put any gripe here). What people see but don’t understand and realize is our true self knows what is happening but we have been lied to believe we are victims, all of us. Choose a gripe that is your own. When people claim Jesus would support breaking immigration laws, set up government welfare, or turn over tables in political assemblies, they misapply Scripture out of context. The Bible teaches respect for civil laws, personal charity, and reverence for God—not secular political activism.
Regarding the rule of law, Scripture commands obedience to national authorities. In Romans 13:1–2, Paul writes that governing authorities are instituted by God, warning that “whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God.” Jesus Himself affirmed civil compliance in Matthew 22:21 when He said, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.” Furthermore, 1 Peter 2:13–14 instructs believers to submit to every human ordinance and legal authority for the Lord’s sake. Even in Old Testament law (Leviticus 24:22), foreign sojourners were required to obey the exact same laws as native-born citizens.
The idea of Jesus turning over tables in a legislative body like the Senate misunderstands His actions in Matthew 21:12–13. Jesus overturned tables inside the sacred Temple—not a government building—because vendors were exploiting religious worshippers. He was defending the holiness of God’s house of prayer against religious corruption, not taking a stance on national border policies or secular politics.
Finally, biblical charity differs greatly from government welfare. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, Scripture highlights voluntary, personal giving (“let each one give as he purposes in his heart”), rather than state-mandated redistribution. While the Bible commands love and kindness toward strangers (Leviticus 19:34), it also balances compassion with individual accountability, stating in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 that “if anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.”
In short, while Jesus calls His followers to show personal compassion to everyone, Scripture firmly rejects lawlessness and maintains that civil government exists to uphold order and enforce laws.

In this case (and depending from which part of the world you exist),T probably vaguely remembers Jesus as some cool, almost surfer type dude, who would probably hang out with the homeless – when not protesting civil rights and rebuking the Pharisees. Definitely Californian.
For a guy in Nigeria, I doubt the concept of a “surfer dude” even exists. (He’s got a description I cannot even begin to imagine.) Most in the west seem pretty comfortably with a comforting yet strong Shepard look. I confess to being somewhere in-between. So “what would Jesus do” depends on what you would like to be done.
Logically though, Jesus being raised Jewish, most likely would have been a Pharisee (with possible links to the Essene’s), who I’d always imagined were a sort of surfer dude/mystic group. (right up my alley). Turns out they were actually a combo of ultra, ultra, ultra orthodox and communism. Still difficult to picture it. A Pharisee would be mainstream conservative – like the tree house.
I had a strange but wonderful dream last night!
In my dream I was touring the Smithsonian Museum in DC and entered a large room that I hadn’t seen before, with displays of the Nativity…the baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the Magi, the Star of Bethlehem, angels, shepherds, etc. all encased behind walls of glass. And (in my dream) I thought, “This is so good! I know Trump is behind this!”
Then today I see a news piece that President Trump has ordered the Smithsonian to replace a colossal, weird, modernist statue in front of the museum with an equally colossal statue of George Washington!
So amazing to me that my dream foreshadowed something similar that was actually happening at the Smithsonian…and I wanted to let CTH readers know!
