In my view misses the mark. President Trump accomplished an amazing number of things despite the constant betrayals and forged false accusations. ( It is a very long list) However Biden and company have undone most of it, and managed to accomplish great additional harm.
I really wish President Trump could see the terrible evil in the vaccines. Two issues we don’t agree with him on are the 2 most volatile and cancelled topics in the world: the jab and Putin. He’s trying to neutralize himself on both as they will take him out, too. I think he’s trying to walk a fine line. Once he’s back in office, things will be different.
Sessions was one of the only Republicans willing to support Trump during the primary and the general election. This was a big deal, our local talk radio host was anti-Trump and made a big deal during the election about the party not supporting him. I called in and used Sessions and Flynn as examples that he did have support.
The support during the election seemingly cost Sessions. It was natural for Trump to assume Sessions was loyal and give him a position in return. Sadly for all of us, Sessions turned out to be weak at best, a traitor at worst.

There’s much history that Ukraine supported liberation from the Soviets by the Nazis, especially by western Ukrainians and supported Soviet liberation by the Russians, especially by eastern Ukrainians.

Recommend that people watch a video on C-Span by Jack Wheeler recorded in 1991 right after the collapse of Russia. It has been my assumption for years that the US and Russia are natural allies against China. Wheeler’s video is a discussion of this position. I believe Trump is one of a few leaders that understand this.
the reasoning (and policy) back then was to support china directly AND ATTEMPT to persuade them to play nice to US foreign Policy. The offshoring of manufacturing and production was entirely a separate agenda (money and tax avoidance for major global corporations) but it was also used to paint a narrative that the US (and the west) could curtail the tyranny of communism and the totalitarian state of China assuming it would develop as a western style democracy with the handsome capitalistic features. This also included exchange of some very sophisticated technologies, including weapons programs.
It did not work. At all.
If the stategy the US (and the west) was to deter Russia through China there is little evidence any of that was even a consideration. It was a wild assed money first venture with no hard lines.
Russia and CCP has been partners economically, financially, politically, and militarily for a very very long time. It accelerated while the US was “preoccupied” making war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
And we must not ignore the assistance of Europe and the EU. Russia would not be the power it is today, without the WITTING ENABLEMENT OF THE EU to allow it unfettered deals for energy.
The EU is a LOT like the US. And very much UNLIKE RUSSIA and CCCP.
In those two countries, they have long term strategic goals that remain fixed and get enhanced over time.
In the USG and EU the strategic goals radically change at least each 4 years.
Our democratic republic, by design and by the inability to preserve a bipartisan long term foreign policy and strategy is the bug in our code by comparison.
I predicted this with the pandemic. CCCP has faired far better than the US…far fewer deaths and economic losses.
The USG does not have the power nor will the people generally tolerate being robots and compliant. Sure, many do just that. But in China, you are told what to do or else. This is both a legal and a cultural reality for CCCP citizens. In that sense, objectively, CCCP can advance policies domestically, and globally that the people have zero control over. And most of them are content with status quo given the alternative is being ejected from society and ruined.
So it goes with comparisons. I am not suggesting the US adopt ccp or russia like regimes. At all.
just to notice how those countries have raced to the top with little resistance, as compared to the US, where the political turmoil and corruption in DC ignores the long term end game for this nation.
I think, my opinion, is that about 20 years ago, the people who actually run the show in this country (US) realized this reality and punted. Knowing they could never get the US to a level of long term strategic bearing on nearly anything, they decided to export their investments to china and elsewhere. up to and including wholesale theft of the most critical technology and brain trust to CCP, primarily.
