A recent image attributed to the Moscow subway system presents some consideration for a potentially larger problem.
Increasingly, people everywhere have stopped using cash to pay for simple purchases. The electronic payment systems shifted to credit cards and debit cards, and then, eventually as technology merged with phone platforms, the linking of your portable transponder to your financial institution in order to make purchases became an efficient way to make transactions.
However, as governments start using definitions of who is good and who is bad to create sanctions against the bad actors, and with Russia representing the most expansive modern targeting of the global financial system, the control of monetary transactions enters the sphere of integrated payment systems like VISA, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and others. With Russia being essentially “de-banked” on the world stage, this happens:
There’s an irony to this surfacing now… so soon after the Canadian government began targeting their political opposition for de-banking.
Essentially, what is happening in Russia, on an entire citizen scale, is the same issue that happened in Canada to the individuals targeted. The financial mechanisms in this integrated system of payment are now creating havoc for the individual.
The SWIFT transfer system sanction(s) against the Russian government, end up debanking everyone in the country. These are remarkable times, and this is an example of something that needs to be factored into how you can retain individual liberty and freedom.

Most every one that has cash in hand uses a debit card at a cash machine to get said cash.
Without telling anyone that they are doing it, banks record the serial numbers of every single bill the cash machine dispenses.
So, every 20 dollar bill you use is ALSO traced… Think about that.

Yup. Every paper bill is tracked from the originating source. Once the paper bills get back to a bank, they have the complete track of all transactions.
How? They get info on the point of disbursement from a bank or ATM and info on when the note is redeposited in the bank. But unless the grocery store is tracking the bills it gives as change and specifically to whom, and other stores track every subsequent cash transaction using those bills, I don’t see how cash every transaction can be tracked.
You missed one thing. The banks track all the serial numbers (not in real time of course) and they can access that info and give it to the government. And it doesn’t take a lot of computer storage either. Just a file with your account number (1 record) tied to a different file with all the serial numbers out there. (multiple records). It’s called a relational database.
So they track your $20. Then they track the change you get from whoever gives you change for the $20. And so it goes until it gets back into a bank. Then the circle is complete.
Unless banking has changed since I was in banking (not all that long ago), then I believe that is incorrect. Yes, banks have the serials numbers of the bills. But they cannot/do not record the serial number of very bill dispersed to any individual account holder who withdraws cash. Unless that person is robber- tellers are trained to make sure the “bait” cash is included in the “loot” given to robbers.
Yes, they know the $20 note Brad received left the branch and if perchance it comes back to that same branch, they can track that too. But they cannot track that Brad received it nor where he spent it. Same for the $16 change he had in his wallet.

Yup, you are correct. Here’s an example for anyone following along: Bill comes in and buys 17 bucks worth of chips and beer. He pays with a 10, a five and 2 ones. The cashier places the 10, the 5 and the 2 ones in the respective slots in the register drawer ON THE TOP OF THE STACK in each slot.
Next customer is your example, Brad. he walks in and buys 4 pepperoni beef sticks @ a buck a piece. Hands the SAME cashier a 20. The cashier reaches in that same cash drawer and grabs the 10, the 5 and one of the “ones” from that same top of the stack to give “Brad his change. No time to go back in the office and scan serial numbers and such. Totally invisible and anyone trying to keep track of this would have no data except the register balance sheet when the till is balanced out.

The only way for the bank to know Brad received a specific $20 bill from ANY ATM is for them to pin every single bill the ATM disperses to every card inserted in the machine – THAT is not doable. Like I said, they know Brad’s $20 bill left the bank. They when/if it returns to the exact branch from which Brad received it. They DO NOT know Brad received it.
Also, when Brad drives over to Wally’s World – sorry Brad! – and purchases his beef jerky the bank would have to scan every $20 bill every Wally’s world deposit to know Brad spent his at the 12th St. Wally’s World.
If banks, supermarkets, Wally’s, and CVS stores were doing this sort of tracking of every single deposit, withdrawal, purchase would take a helluva lot of time.

Incorrect. They can trace the beginning and end, but not the middle. A bill could exchange hands 50 times before it returns to a bank. There is no tracking of those 50 transactions. Only which bank dispensed it and which bank it was returned to.

There are lots of jurisdictions that seize money (on traffic stops for example) during dubious searches without a warrant. I feel they came into your home on a warrant for which the application has to provide cause and what they expect to find.

We all know who they are to one degree or another. You need to remove you and your family as far outside the grid as possible. It’s also good to make common cause with like-minded thinkers and avoid those who don’t see or refuse to acknowledge what is happening.
A good dividing line is how did your friends and family respond to COVID or how much media do they consume?

Sell whatever you can (extra clothes, spare car, extra household goods and use the money to buy barter items (ammo, liquor, beans, rice, seeds, junk silver, etc.)
Start using cash for anything possible and don’t keep more than you need to in banks.

He now works as a low level attendant at a hardware supply store for minimum wage.

I just received footage from Kyiv, the trains running out of the Capital are filled to the brim. They are letting the children and women on first, later the men if there is room. Other than small transactions, how do you not use a bank? And you still have to use the bank in some manner to get the cash. At an extreme, and I do not know how it is now, but when I spent much time working in Switzerland 20 years ago, when buying a car, people would not go to the bank and get a bank check, they would literally get cash and go to the dealer and handover the legal tender. I do not ever see anything even remotely like that that happening here. So, what can we really do?
