A recent image attributed to the Moscow subway system presents some consideration for a potentially larger problem.
Increasingly, people everywhere have stopped using cash to pay for simple purchases. The electronic payment systems shifted to credit cards and debit cards, and then, eventually as technology merged with phone platforms, the linking of your portable transponder to your financial institution in order to make purchases became an efficient way to make transactions.
However, as governments start using definitions of who is good and who is bad to create sanctions against the bad actors, and with Russia representing the most expansive modern targeting of the global financial system, the control of monetary transactions enters the sphere of integrated payment systems like VISA, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and others. With Russia being essentially “de-banked” on the world stage, this happens:
There’s an irony to this surfacing now… so soon after the Canadian government began targeting their political opposition for de-banking.
Essentially, what is happening in Russia, on an entire citizen scale, is the same issue that happened in Canada to the individuals targeted. The financial mechanisms in this integrated system of payment are now creating havoc for the individual.
The SWIFT transfer system sanction(s) against the Russian government, end up debanking everyone in the country. These are remarkable times, and this is an example of something that needs to be factored into how you can retain individual liberty and freedom.

Basically, use cash and avoid reward programs. If you use cash at the grocery store, but still use their reward program to get your discounts, then they still have a record of your purchases. Use farmers markets when possible. Buy used goods from garage sales and discount stores (with cash). Older cars with less electronics are better than newer cars with everything electronic. Also, When you buy new appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, etc.), buy the basic version not the smart/connected version. Don’t use Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Avoid Facebook. Bank with a credit union or a small, regional bank. Avoid Chase Bank, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Don’t use their credit cards, especially Capital One (Alec Baldwin). Move your investments from Vanguard and BlackRock to Fidelity Investments. Etc, etc.
These are all basic things that you can do for free. And in many instances will save you a lot of money (bank vs credit union, used car vs new car, etc).

I have not seen anything (yet) that confirms that banks are talking about this at the employee level, but have been preparing (as many here have) for this eventuality.

Romans 8 is such a wonderful chapter. It goes against our human nature to endure persecution, and pondering just how horrible it could get boggles the mind. For those who don’t know Christ, this is the closest to Heaven they will ever get. I think my parents and grandparents went through something like this in the dirty thirties and they went through pain but learned to be very conservative with whatever found its way onto their plate, on the clothesline and other areas of their lives. They found joy in each other and support in each other and anything basic to life. One orange for Christmas was a highlight of the season. We will survive even if we lose everything. This is perhaps the singular weakness of cryptocurrency in that it is dependent on having access to the internet, which can be shutdown by platform owners of the hardware and operating system it runs on like Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft, etc.
Crypto needs to have some sort of hard currency but who will mint it? How will it be distributed? How can it be independently verified as authentic?
I am a big proponent of crypto to get rid of central banks and the reserve banking system. It gets rid of the middlemen of the banking system and keeps currency strictly regulated based on supply and demand, without the manipulation of the currency for political purposes as we see in fiat.
But in an authoritarian world we need a hard form of crypto in order for it truly to be a substitute for fiat.
With that said, if the state and corporations that make most of our goods and services are in lock step and those corporations refuse to accept anything but fiat, it will be very difficult to navigate around these new controls

You get into something you can barter. A friend of mine moved out of the city to raise chickens. He said at least he could barter them for other things. We discussed rental property just so there was something like living space to barter. If you have a house with a lot of rooms, barter sleeping space. Put on a thinking cap for your area and try to get into something that is a need and go from there. Collect old sheets and paint both sides with water-based acrylics they make good tenting material to barter or just to give away for the homeless who will be seeking help. The whole idea is that there is no physical money – it’s all digital. A permanent record on all transactions; taxable, access controlled by government, could even support negative interest rates. Associated with granular identity/state information and it can be used to permit/disallow any transaction..
Governments will make the legitimate counter that eliminating physical cash will eliminate a significant chunk of crime. Given action at the Southern Border – it behooves one to wonder whether that truly is a government objective. But, I digress.

You should do more reading to understand bitcoin. It’s not going to “shut down.” It’s widely decentralized on a peer to peer network. Governments have not done a great job of stopping Bittorrent which is another famous peer to peer network. They can shut down possibly centralized exchanges but transferring bitcoin between individuals cannot be stopped unless you shut down the internet. If assets are held in cold storage, outside of exchanges, no one can seize it.
Does the US Government have the capability to shut down the internet? What would stop the US Government from shutting down the internet? It’s worth reading up on the SWIFT system to get the feel for how most money moves (right now) in international transactions. It’s one of the reasons why the USD has been the primary global reserve currency. As more nations find ways to transact their business outside swift (and outside petrodollars) , the weaker/ less relevant the USD becomes.

I would check the small print and if you see the words “bail-in” beware for that makes you a stockholder and they can use your money at will for themselves. Same goes with banks.
No. Credit Unions would close your account just as fast as a bank. They are non profit, “customer owned” blah, blah, blah…, but they will freeze your account without a second thought.

Good advice. Also, try and pre-pay as many bills as far in advance as you can. For example, pay your property tax in one payment do not use an installment plan. Do the same thing with home, auto, medical and dental insurance, utilities. The objective is to buy yourself time to react without having the proverbial gun to your head.

I have posited its space aliens, or an AI supercomputer, because I have noted certain anomolies,..which either of these explains, and which so far nothing else does.

Good point. Our enemy is sin, is the short answer. It’s in all of us. Sin has always taken hold of individuals, and groups, and institutions. We need a Great Awakening. Our enemy is us.
