According to the Associated Press, the CDC is likely to strongly loosen their mask guidance tomorrow, dropping the recommendation that masks should be worn indoors. That said, I’m not sure how many places even have a mask wearing policy any longer.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration will significantly loosen federal mask-wearing guidelines to protect against COVID-19 transmission on Friday, according to two people familiar with the matter, meaning most Americans will no longer be advised to wear masks in indoor public settings.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday will announce a change to the metrics it uses to determine whether to recommend face coverings, shifting from looking at COVID-19 case counts to a more holistic view of risk from the coronavirus to a community. Under current guidelines, masks are recommended for people residing in communities of substantial or high transmission — roughly 95% of U.S. counties, according to the latest data. (read more)
Is anyone wearing masks where you are?
Students in public school mask ends March 1
I’ve been standing in front of my wife’s school most mornings with a “no masks” sign since September. There is still an unethical, unscientific mask deal enforced. Today was a good day, all I got were thumbs up and horn toots. I’m not alone, we live on the Eastern shore.
Sounds like you may get to retire from this job that you have been faithful to do all of this time!
A big THANK YOU!
Oddly enough, many locals started to wear masks again after Omicron reports. Y’know, the variant that was infectious but very weak and, effectively, the “end of the serious threat of COVID.” Go figure.
I should add: This is despite stores, restaurants, and banks eliminating the mask requirements. I’d say about half of the people wear them, which is odd since I thought people gave them up about 6+ months back. The only change is new residents, mostly from VA, getting away from cities and high COL. I can usually spot the outsiders because they carry totes to the grocery store, their children are masked up, and they act like your invisible when you are friendly. Hmmm. …
oops: “you’re”
” I can usually spot the outsiders because they carry totes to the grocery store, their children are masked up, and they act like your invisible when you are friendly. Hmmm. …”
yes to this as well..
Same where I live. My area has been inundated with people from Marxist states……and illegals ( but illegals don’t wear masks)
The local college town in my area, Edwardsville, IL, recently imposed a 10 cent fee on all single use paper and plastic shopping bags used at large retailers. The wokesters in the city government intended this fee to incentivize people to use the reusable totes that you mention.
It actually incentivized me to stop shopping there and to take all of my shopping to one of the many nearby towns instead. This is the suburban St. Louis area so there are many other nearby towns to spend money at instead.
I was hoping that enough people like me would take their business elsewhere that the city would repeal this bag fee, but unfortunately that isn’t the case. There are many people who are perfectly happy to change their ways and start using totes to avoid the city mandated fee or to continue to use the single use bags and pay the fee.
Sometimes, just to throw sand into the gears, I will make a very minor purchase in Edwardsville and use the self check out option. I use multiple plastic bags for my purchase, but when the cash register prompts me to enter the number of bags I have used, I enter 0. I keep the purchase amount small because I want to generate as little tax revenue for the city as possible while doing this.
I always assume that anyone I see wearing a mask and using a reusable tote in a retail store is a hopeless wokester and I avoid them like the plague.
Yes, I saw that in the Philly area. I think it was actually a pretty natural reaction to the fear of the last 2 years. They saw so many people sick and testing positive and the lines for ‘free’ tests being long. People had to wait hours.
We got it, the person we likely (99%) got it from and tested positive and his housemate got it in the same time frame as us and tested positive. We saw no reason to stand in line feeling crummy in the cold for several hours.
I knew from my research that it was likely Omicron and just dealt with it like a cold. Upped our vitamins and I was over it in 3 days.
I live in the Raleigh/Durham area, (actually 25 miles east of Raleigh)…and yesterday, I went to a place called Wildbirds Unlimited to get more bird seed, and they STILL have a sign outside the door that asks patrons to wear a mask. What I thought was interesting was that as I approached the front door…both sales ladies inside did NOT have their masks on. It was only when I entered the store (NOT wearing a mask), did I ask them if I had to wear one. They said, yes…they would appreciate it. So, I put the damn thing on to make them happy…and I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. Then, I went to Wegman’s (huge nice grocery store that is here now). Although they have signs posted on their doors that say “they suggest people wear masks”…hardly anyone does. Yes, we still see the morons wearing them while driving, and while walking outside, but I would say for the most part, people are DONE with the whole mask thing.
Your first mistake was to ask instead of acting like you owned the situation.
I never ask. I’ve never worn a mask. I got kicked out of pottery barn early on in the plandemic. I haven’t gotten kicked out anywhere else, though I didn’t go to Costco at all for that year or so they required them.
It seemed less and less in my area were wearing masks until Omicron. It’s been very strange that the mask wearing has increased since then in my area.
Yes, you never ask for permission for the right to be mask free. You should confidently walk maskless into any business that “requires” a mask.
Walk out if any staff asks or demands that you put on a mask.
Yes. The Doctor’s offices and hospitals still require them here in North Texas
And here in western Pennsylvania hospitals and doctor offices.
Also most doctors’ here in CSprings, COLO.
Same here in SW Utah, all or most medical facilities require masks and even sometimes have enforcers at the entrances.
NEVER wore them in South Dakota……..I am so pissed as I have travel for free privileges on 2 major carriers and cant take advantage because of the damn mask mandates……………UGH
I nursed a water bottle as I boarded my flight to Hawaii and no one said anything. About halfway through the flight I ran out of water so I got out my big bag of potato chips. As I exited the plane, I got out my lollipop and sucked on it right through the airport in Hilo.
Yea…I still see morons running around with face diapers….driving alone with the windows up…I put them in the rear view as quickly as I can. I see a face diaper and they are classified as a moron.
Mask=Democrat
will this include planes and trains??
Probably not.
well then it’s the car for me, can’t stand the muzzle of obedience and won’t wear it, plane or train
Ditto
No, the TSA will still require them.
In the hospitals. They are slaves/prostitutes to government $ so they don’t think. They just do what they are told. MFP at its best. In public only Branch Covidians wear them because what else do they have to do?
N. AL area. Few mask wearers now. 50% of restaurant/store employees wear masks and that’s on a per business basis. No one in my large church has been wearing a mask for months now. Visited my health care provider Weds. Half of staff had no mask on. No signs requiring it. No mention made to me to put one one. Only difference I have seen is if a store’s clientel lean left, like Sprouts. Then it’s 50% customers wearing masks.
The idiots and sheeple here in N Va still wear their masks inside Whole Foods and Starbucks.
Most of these abject morons have stopped wearing them at the gyms and health clubs.
Some of the mega stupid Biden voters still wear them in the car while driving alone.
Still wearing masks? Yup. The state dropped theirs, then the county, but the city still has not.
Some businesses still ask for people to wear them, but not all.
I should add many employers cling to those CDC guidelines in fine “don’t blame us, we’re just doing what They say” fashion.
Is anyone wearing masks in this small Indiana community? Not many. I thought it strange at my church service this past Sunday. Only one person in the whole sanctuary had a mask on and it was a N95 mask and was a young girl from one of the two Christian colleges in the area. Mom and Dad were visiting and came with her. Neither Mom nor Dad had a mask. None of the elderly ‘at risk’ folks had a mask. Of course, this girl may have an immunocompromised condition that worries her, but it made me think about how indoctrinated and submissive the public schools have made our children and grandchildren. Not all children have been indoctrinated, but some. I also have seen several young parents with no mask, but their very young children have masks on. Does that even make sense?! Only if Mom and Dad wear a mask all of the time when they are at home while their children are taking a break and not wearing one. 🤔
Oh, and the only places requiring masks here are healthcare institutions, including Dentists, Optometrists, and Veterinarians. They are so obedient…too obedient that they no longer practice medicine without protocols to guide them on every treatment. Robots can do that and likely soon will.
Here in the Peoples Republic of Illinois, Gov P***kster is fighting tooth and nail to keep masks on our children. It’s now in the hands of the IL Supreme Court. Walmart maintains a huge sign out front stipulating that masks are required by the State to enter the store. No one pays the least bit of attention to it. Not even the employees. It’s a beautiful thing.
I haven’t seen a single mask where I live *except* at the doctor’s offices, which I find hilarious. The people who are supposed to be “medical experts” play along with the charade that masks work against the virus. This is partly why I’ve lost all faith in “healthcare”.
Now I want to see the CDC and the White House confronting “healthcare” for denying life saving medicines and organ transplants to people who chose not to get the poison shot. People have died because of these policies. Don’t ever let them forget that.
Yup.. people of all ages walking down street, riding bicycles,driving..wearing useless face diaper. Very sad and scary!
SouthwesternOntario
Yes, in Asheville NC, at places progressives go – health food stores, the arboretum – mask-wearing is religious! Even two or three. Crazy. Not as much – but still present (!) at Walmart and major grocery stores. It is no longer mandated, however…
Oregonians being good subjects are still wearing their masks.
This is all for show and part of the coming political appeasement to sustain the walls of La La Land at least through November 2022.
The republicans will be allowed a narrow in the House. They will “narrowly” loose in the Senate, with Joe Manchin still doing his head fakes. ALL the mandates will be lifted, “fingers crossed” behind back, with dire warnings for the future.
Republicans will declare victory and shout…”see we fixed the election system and voters were heard”…wow those truckers did a great job.
Based on the sign in sheets I saw at the Allen Municipal Building, on Tuesday, the primary turn out is going to be well under 20% again.
This will be a replay of 2010, heading into 2012 Elections.
The checkout girls at the local Rite-Aid told me they’ll still be required to mask while at work. “To keep their customers safe “said 1. I asked her if she was currently sick. She stated, no. Then I asked her what are you keeping customers safe from?
Remember the Private Businesses arguments used concerning right to associate and make there own operating rules as long as they are legal?? THIS IS BY THE BOOK…right??? Our own rules and beliefs are being perverted for use against us and serve the purpose of extending control.
SE Michigan Amazon employee here. Vaxed employees can go maskless, not vaxed must still mask up. I’m not vaxed and have taken the ‘make me’ attitude. No one has said a word…yet.
Tell them you “identify” as a vaccinated person!
Self vaccinated, Rock and Rye down the throat!
If you happen to be a POC you might get away with it.
“That said, I’m not sure how many places even have a mask wearing policy any longer.”
The idiots that I work for have it !!!!!!!!!!!!
(and you MUST be vaxxed to be in our building)
They’re wrong almost always, so just do the opposite ………………..
I’m in PA, any medical place or government building wear them .
I never really wore them , and was never out of work . I did wear one for a short while in stores. I was almost in several fist fights for not wearing one .
I did have to at work while walking thru a guard shack right after Biden got in office , we had tsa rules to adhere to.
Some people still where them at work, mostly African Americans . If they’re friends, I give them a hard time , they take it pretty well .
I live in AR (NWA). People in AR are pretty much believe they know best about how to act concerning the virus. We have an attitude if one feels better in a mask, so be it. Do it, but don’t lecture those who don’t wear masks. Our students have missed very little school since the beginning. In 2020 schools went to virtue learning in April, school was out in May. So the kids didn’t miss much. All the pre schools were open. We have not suffered like other parts of our country. And we laugh about the masks.
Are you near Fort Smith? I have been researching as a place to move to. I want to be free to be me.
Rivers is nice. I have family there.
The federal govt dropping them is one thing.
Businesses that are members of the WEF, employers, schools, day care centers, hospitals, doctor offices and governments at the state and local level will continue to do their own thing. That is what the govt is banking on.
Then the CDC won’t have to be the bad guy.
I wouldn’t go out and celebrate just yet.
I work for a hospital. All employees must wear “approved” masks while on the premises (surgical). All employees must be vaxxed or have an exemption. Natural immunity is not an approved reason for an exemption. Previous allergic reactions to ingredients in the jab is not an approved reason for an exemption. Employees who have been given a religious exemption are treated as pariahs, must undergo weekly testing as directed. Emails sent from upper management push the “safe and effective” and “ICU is full of unvaxxed” lies.
Sounds like all the hospitals to me.
NYC. EVERYONE is wearing a mask. Not me. Bunch of morons.
The hospital and every doctor office, and city and county offices, still demand masks be worn inside those offices/buildings in my town. Twats!
The only business, in the entire county, that never made employees wear masks and never made customers wear masks was the local veterinarian office! That office never had a Covid case either…..I asked.
Curious which town, which county? I am in Arizona too and this has not been my experience at all.
Seattle is the worst! Vaccination cards to go to restaurants and events and masking required everywhere. People are nuts here.
Los Angeles here. Same thing. I just got yelled at by a waitress for daring to enter a restaurant unmasked. And a mask gestapo neighbor has self-appointed herself as the mask police and falsely barks as she strolls by that masks still must be worn outside. She is clearly a fear biter.
Having spent too much of my life studying biology and its related offshoot sciences, it is excruciatingly difficult not to rage back, with both barrels a’blazin’: Show me the “evidence of the hypothesis” that wearing a mask catches viral particles.
There are masks for virus protection. The neighborhood, self-appointed “mask police” are not wearing virus protection masks. If a nasty-tempered masker wants to cough up a hairball and prevent that hairball from landing on the short-supplied Kroeger apple display, then a mask is their huckleberry. The masks they’re pushing are designed to keep boogers, beard hair, and the apparently-popular, coughed-up hairball out of surgery patients. Not eentsie-weentsie viral particles.
(You may use that quote as your own.) 🤣
Yet, in Los Angeles County, giving Seattle stiff competition in blue state lunacy, the Public Health Order starting tonight (Feb 25, 2022) at midnight is:
“In light of decreasing case and test positivity rates and hospitalizations, this Order creates elective criteria for establishments, businesses, and venues to voluntarily implement to exempt either of the following from the indoor masking requirement: Option #1 — all fully vaccinated customers, visitors and onsite workers or Option #2 — just fully vaccinated customers and visitors. Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated persons must continue to wear a well-fitting mask in public indoor settings.”
Los Angeles County just can’t let go of their obedience oat bags.
Oh, and, in the footnote on the Order (it hurts me to capitalize “Order”) 🤣 it is explained that fully vaccinated means vaccinated and boosted.
And further down in the Order, it is sneaky what they did there, because Option 1 and 2 now require proof of vaccination and boosters. That’s been the case in Los Angeles City, but not in the whole county. That’s a sneaky expansion of their proof of vaccination, um, hairball scheme.
At times like these, I wish I owned a semitruck. 🤣
Stay strong, Treepers! #HoldTheLine
In Allegheny County (Pittsburgh area), masks are still required in hospitals and some schools. In public, about 30% still wear them in grocery stores and at Sunday Mass.
I live in NE FL and still see some people wear masks.
My son plays middle school basketball. I usually see some of the girls games before his starts.
One of the girls wears a mask while she plays. I feel sorry for her. She most likely has idiots for parents.
Small town, central NC, yes, still see lots of them but not as many as last year. Have seen a retired military man (Hispanic) running at an outdoor park for the past 5-10 years. He has worn a mask while running outside for quite a while. See others wearing masks while driving alone, etc… . It seems to be like a religion to a lot of people.
My workplace still enforces these useless freedom muzzles. Gotta wear it, or end up in endless HR meetings.
I wonder if the airlines will drop their mask requirement? /sarc
I have been on a Publix boycott since they make anyone not boosted to the hilt wear masks to this day.
North Charleston: about half-and-half, at the store. Haven’t been attacked by any Karens yet, most people seem to take the “live and let live” approach. The pediatrics office and the dentist we went to last month didn’t even blink when I strolled in maskless, pediatric behavioral development not only made me mask up but wanted me to put one on my four-year-old who was there to get placed on the spectrum (I did not put one on him.) The stores still offer them at the door but don’t try to enforce it.
Central New York has about a 50/50 ratio…as much as I shop. Sometimes I am the only one in the store without one, though. I always walk in without one and make them tell me to wear one. Then I tell them I don’t have one. If they give me one, I wear it over one ear, hanging down. We tend to troll people a lot in our family. It forces them to think, even if they get angry. And some actually wake up…Yes, even in CNY…which is NOT New York City or Albany…which we hate. New York is so beautiful and so many of the people are hard working, down to earth, red necks and farmers. We are a very small contracting company. We are overrun by the cheating in Albany and NYC. Regulations, taxes, and insurances are killing us but we resist. Most of where we live is beautiful farmland and vineyards. Just trying to give perspective on the battles we face here in CNY.
2 stories:
Walking in to get my hair trimmed, I saw the the women that work there through the window with no masks on. The door sign proclaimed “no entrance without a mask”. I proceeded through and up to the front desk. They now had masks on and told me to mask up. I told them I have none. Then I told them to remove theirs. (It’s always humorous when this happens. It’s as if I have made some sexual suggestion!) I began to tell them the folly of wearing masks and tried to redpill them but was totally rebuffed. Finally, one of them gave me a new one. I placed it over my ear but was told to wear it across my face. The woman that cut my hair wore hers under her nose so I followed suit in this silly practice. She was overweight and had difficulty standing and breathing as she cut my hair. I felt bad for her but could not engage in any true conversation.
My husband was at the casino at the craps table. He always goes in without a mask. They always tell him to wear one. So he finally broke down and bought a mesh mask which he can obviously breathe right through. Now he has complied. Well, the mask police fingered him and told him that that mask was unacceptable. He actually had 3 tall goons standing over him. He told them he had no other mask. They pointed him to the store in the casino where he could buy one. He told them he was NOT buying a mask because he already had one that they did not approve of. One of the ‘goons’, who turned out to be a very nice man, said, “Come with me.” They walked to the store, and this man pulled money out of his own pocket and bought my husband a nice, new, approved mask. He thanked him, walked back to the craps table, now compliant, and won – again.
If DC becomes a state, Western NY needs to become on too!
The same thing needs to happen with Illinois. Chicago needs to be split off from the rest of the state. Illinois is basically a prototypical conservative Midwestern state ruled over by a big, San Francisco style liberal city that has little in common with the rest of the state.
We are now in FL and have been so surprised that over 50% of the people in Lake Mary, Orlando areas are wearing face coverings! OUTSIDE!! In this glorious SUNSHINE which we only get an angle of this time of year! Weird.
Just moved up to Daytona Beach and NO ONE is wearing a mask. FINALLY!
Buncombe County NC..Asheville is here…I live just north. Last week county dropped mask mandate. Starting on the 28, schools are mask optional. I am not a mask wearer…only for dentist/doctor. The mentally deranged in Asheville are so upset that we are not all required to wear masks any longer. Some of the weirdo businesses still require them..I don’t know how they stay in business anyway.
It took a week for it to soak into the general population, but this week the majority are not wearing masks in Ingles, Walmart, Dollar Tree. I could not believe that even this week at least 50% no masks in Whole Foods (last week it was like 99% still wearing masks). Kind of strange but Ross’s and TJ Maxx still have mask signs on doors saying local ordinance (guess no one told them yet) but they never enforced it anyway and in Ross’s always had at least 50% no masks. Employees in some stores no masks but in others still masked. They really believe in them.
So, I have seen the faces of some employees for the first time!
Hey, someplace on this thread there is someone who said they lived in Paoli,PA??? I was on my phone when I saw your post and now can’t find it! That’s where my leftist sister and brother-in-law live…I didn’t know there were any sane people there…thanks for posting! Made me feel better.
SW Florida here. In April 2020 was forced to wear mask for Dermatologist appointment to remove 2 basil cell carcinomas on head/face. While being prepped was told to remove mask. What should I do with it? Put it in your pocket! On the way out was told to put mask back on. Removed from pocket and threw it on floor, commenting to technician she knew that was not sanitary protocol. On surgery followup visit was told (3 times) I would not be seen without a mask. I walked out. When called to confirm a 4 month followup appointment, was advised mask requirements had been dropped for those fully vaccinated. but had to show the card. They honored that for the following 2 appointments, then reverted. I walked out once, then they reluctantly allowed me maskless.
Is anyone still wearing masks where I live? Yes. But they’re nuts. My theory is they’re union people and teachers who have been told to make masks a thing even though everyone else is over it. But it’s just my theory.
The other population that is masked in my area is forced to be masked and that would be school and university aged children and young adults. I hope this change will mean schools will back off. I’m tired of fighting with admin.
I was supposed to attend the IlDivo concert at Steinmetz Hall in Orlando FL Sat 26. The have a mandatory face mask policy from the moment one enters the hall until leaving. Called their guest services to confirm the policy…. Needless to say, we won’t be attending
Delaware here. When Omicron ramped up our Gov. put the mask mandate back on mid-Jan. He lifted it Feb. 11. It did not do anything to “stop the spread”. A virus does what a virus is going to do-face diapers or not. Stores don’t have the mask up signs but I’d say about 30% people are still diapered up. Some even 2 masks. And the lil kiddos– so sad to see them still in masks. Governor is ending mask mandate in pre-K to 12 at the end of March. Why not now you say, well he says “to give parents more time to get their kids vaccinated”. With a non-vaccine. Unbelievable!
Here in the People’s Republic of Kalifornia 50%, or more, still wear the face diaper I inside. I even saw someone driving alone yesterday wearing a mask.
my wife and I are native Californian’s. If I could convince her we would move to FL yesterday. This place will just get more mis-managed
Still required to wear a mask while working in a large warehouse in Florida for a company that manufactures and distributes medical devices and supplies
Masks? Only the sheep in Georgia.
Lots of people are still wearing masks by me, NE PA. Not as many as 2-3 weeks ago, but in supermarket yesterday, my guess is 35-40%. Department store, 65-70%, rockabilly dance on Saturday night, <10%. Demographics!
I never wear a mask here in the southern Illinois suburbs of St. Louis despite the tyrannical mask mandate imposed by the Chicago centric Illinois Governor Pritzker. Pritzker will be dropping his statewide mask mandate for most settings on February 28 due to widespread opposition, but I have no idea why anyone would wait until then to stop wearing a mask.
Schools and daycares are two of the settings that Pritzker insists on keeping his mask mandate for. Parents, school staff, and other supporters from across Illinois filed a lawsuit against the state to repeal the school mask mandate and were represented by attorney Tom DeVore who has helped people fight against Pritzker’s mandates during the entire pandemic. This lawsuit was victorious and the school mask mandate was repealed, but Pritzker and his supporters insist that it is still in effect.
Many school districts were initially in denial that the school mask mandate was over and sided with Pritzker, but due to massive pushback, most school districts in Illinois are now mask optional, which is how it should always have been.
About 50% of the retail customers in my area are now maskless. About 80% of the restaurant customers in my area are now maskless. Most of the big chains still require their employees to wear masks, but many smaller companies no longer require their staff to wear masks. I try to patronize these companies as much as possible.
I lucked out that my dentist doesn’t require a mask in the waiting area as healthcare providers are still required by the state to mandate masks.
The only places I have visited that have required masks over the past year are a doctor’s office, a hair cutting place, and the St. Louis Botanical Gardens. I now get my hair cut at a place that doesn’t require masks on staff or customers. I still find it absurd that a mostly outdoor botanical garden would require a mask in order to scan your entry ticket in the welcome center that one typically quickly vacates after entry.
Despite being located in the red state of Missouri, which doesn’t have a statewide mask mandate, the City of St. Louis and the separate, adjacent St. Louis County both have Illinois style mask mandates of their own. The level of compliance with mask mandates in St. Louis city and County is the same as the level of compliance for the Illinois mask mandate in the nearby Illinois suburbs.
My office in St. Louis County unfortunately mandates masks when we aren’t at our desks, but since I hate wearing a mask I like to push the envelope by constantly “forgetting” to wear a mask or by letting it slip “inadvertently” below my nose.
On the nails my friend.
We used to live in Illinois. We finally moved in 2013. I had wanted to move 14 years earlier, but my wife didn’t want to move. Finally, in 2012 I announced that I was moving and advised her to please let me know if she planned to come along. I wanted to stay married, but I have my limits. Fortunately for all of us, she saw fit to follow her husband and we are now happy Floridians. The wife and I will be married 30 years in June and not a day goes by when she doesn’t wonder why we didn’t move sooner. I like to remind her that the reason is her. My point, my friends from the prairie, is that you are not a tree. Pack up and move. Tens of millions of refugees leave their homelands every year due to tyranny. Leave. Leave and bring your brains, your productivity, and your tax dollars here. Just don’t bring Democrat voting habits.
AMEN!!
