In a major exhibition of raw power of the federal police state, the Canadian government announced today they have instructed banks, insurance companies and financial institutions to seize the accounts of any individual, group or business who are associated with political protest.
Using the Emergency War Measures Act, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has just declared war against his own people. You cannot protest against government and still retain a bank account in Canada. I suspect a great number of Canadians will quickly move their assets into foreign banks including in the United States.
The announcement came after a meeting of the cabinet according to Trudeau and the financial measures were outlined in detail by Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland.
Corporate, business and individual bank accounts will be frozen and locked, this extends to crowdfunding sites and even cryptocurrencies. To support these measures the government has created federal protection from civil liability to all financial institutions, including insurance companies.
Banks will begin freezing and seizing the account assets of any person, group or organization they may arbitrarily suspect of being aligned with, active with, or supporting the freedom protest. The government has specifically crafted the financial mechanisms so financial institution can use their discretion on who should be targeted. There are no structured rules for the banks to follow.
Additionally, the insurance policies associated with any individual, trucker, group, business or corporation who is identified or suspected of participating in a protest against the Canadian government will be nullified at the discretion of the insurance carrier. Again, civil liability protection provided against recourse from the targeted entity.
Crowdfunding groups will now be required to register with the Canadian government and the regulatory agency the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), the national financial intelligence agency within the Canadian government. This way all funds raised by individuals or groups can be monitored, blocked and/or seized by the government if the beneficiary of the funding is defined as acting against the interests of the Trudeau administration, or protesting.
The seizures apply to any entity, including opposing political parties, who might dissent from the policy of the Trudeau government. In essence, the Prime Minister’s office can freeze the bank accounts of his political opposition and, using the power within the Emergency Act, Trudeau provides himself immunity from any liability for that action. Yes, this is all rather remarkable and never before fathomed in a “western democracy.”
“The illegal blockades have highlighted the fact that crowdfunding platforms, and some of the payment service providers they use, are not fully captured under the Proceeds of Crime and Terrorist Financing Act,” Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said. “We are making these changes because we know that these platforms are being used to support illegal blockades and illegal activity which is damaging the Canadian economy.”
Canadian financial institutions can now temporarily cease providing financial services if the institution suspects an account is being used to further the illegal blockades and occupations, said Freeland. “This order covers both personal and corporate accounts,” she said. WATCH (prompted):

There is a Canadian Charter of Rights distinction between the peaceful protest in Ottawa and the border crossing blockades. The blockades are the problem. They are NOT part of the Ottawa freedom convoy protest and everyone is lumping them together. And Trudeau is purposefully taking advantage of this misinformation and using it to his political advantage.
The convoy launched due to the vaccine border requirements. Blocking the border seems like a legitimate protest for such measures — the government stopped the truckers from being able to cross the border.
They may not be organized by those running the Ottowa protests, but they are still valid — and peaceful — protests.
The border blockades do not legally fall under the Canadian Charter of Rights freedom to peacefully assemble. Part of this Charter states that one cannot infringe on the freedom of others, which the blockades did in terms of preventing the free movement of others across the border.

Charter rights are granted against the government, not against other people. And in any event, I don’t think that anyone who takes away my right to make my own medical choices (sections 2a, 2b, and 7) gets to retain his magical little right to cross the border.

He explains it very clearly and highlights the sections of the charter which specifically apply to the truckers in Ottawa and those that apply to government mandates.

Parliament has to approve within 7 days, I believe. If he does this he’ll have to suspend elections.

Per the press conference with Brian Peckford today, it sounded like he was saying that Parliament needs to take a week at a minimum to debate this before it can go into effect, and Mr. Peckford was suggesting it should take more like two weeks. Hopefully Parliament will see the light and say no.
Trudeau has 7 days to call for a vote on this Emergency Act in the House of Commons. If approved, the bill then goes on to the Senate for approval or disapproval.
If the Act is voted down in the House of Commons, then Trudeau is back to square one in dealing with the Ottawa trucker protest. If approved, the Act is in effect for 30 days and the truckers will be removed.

What I read earlier on CBC is that the Act goes into effect IMMEDIATELY, and Parliament can vote to revoke it AFTER seven days. That was my reading, anyway…

Funny story about money and buying things.
We live in a very small rural town and one day the whole town had their electricity knocked out for hours.
I went to the store and was unable to buy anything even with cash because the stores cash registers did not work all being computer run and non in any store or any business would work.
All of the stores and conveince stores were effected.
I finally found a small Hispanic owned small store that used an old fashioned cash register and was able to buy the badly needed over the counter cold medicine for my sick husband and some juice.
I learned the hard way to keep a lot of things on hand because sometime even money will do no good.
So all of the money in the world might do no good if nothing is in the stores or if something stops the flow of goods or life as we know it.
So… Canada’s government is at war with its people???

Tonight I am afraid for my country. I am awestruck by the magnificent courage of the truckers. In the interviews I recognize some of the small towns in Alberta that they are from, the same type of towns I grew up in. Even though I live in a big city now those roots are still with me. The character of the men and women that shaped me is the same character on view now.
The response the convoy got as it travelled across Canada gave me hope. The videos of so many standing beside the roadways cheering brought tears to my eyes. I thought I was alone but I wasn’t. The weekend rallies in Ottawa and other cities were heartening.
And now it has been met with the most cowardly and despicable response from our governing elite. I fear that the population of Canada is too far gone. Let me give a few examples. When premier Kenney announced that the covid passes would be ending immediately the Edmonton city council, a city of 1.2 million, had an emergency meeting to see if they could enforce a mandate on their own. The labour unions have challenged Kenney’s dictate that students don’t have to wear masks in school. Yes, they want these things, they are all in for restrictions, all of them all the time. And consider that, yes 4 premiers said they were not in agreement with the use of the Emergency Act, but that means the rest, 6 plus 3 territories, were in favour of it. And earlier in the day there was a vote in the House of Commons that would have required the government to submit a plan in two weeks as to how they were going to end the mandates. It was soundly defeated. Trudeau goes full Hitler because he can. Talk about mass psychosis. We have quite a case of it in Canada.
So I am afraid that not enough people will wake up in time. If they don’t then the suffering we could go through is unimaginable. But I am not despairing. I am a devout Catholic and I pray the Rosary every morning. There is life after the grave aa well.
I really think we are at an inflection point. Evil has come out in the open for all to see. One of the things I think Canadians can do is phone, email etc. their members of Parliament–thousands and thousands of calls pointing out their complicity in evil and demanding they don’t participate in it.

There are many many more of us than there are them and Trudeau is playing a big game of chicken.
All of Canada’s politicians have just put everything on the line and are hoping that the Truckers will back down so they do not have to enforce this craziness.
They are a small group of people in a big country that things are heating up in and they had better head to the bunkers because the Truckers will not “give” on this and all hell is about to break lose and they are going to find out just how weak the government is.
I do hope that things will not go the way things did for the Nazi leaders who ended up cowering in their underground bunkers either putting a gun to their heads or chomping down on their cyanide capsules.
Some of them survived and were the sad non-survivors of the famous Nuremburg Trials.
Hopefully the Canadians will solve this and move on to Freedom but you never know.
