All the right moves….. We can expect the national media to go bananas as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a bold step in advancement of federalism with authorization and funding for the formation of a state militia known as the Florida State Guard [Announcement Here].
During an event today in Pensacola Florida, the governor announced the creation of three new state-centric armories to support the new state guard units. One in the former airbase at Homestead, one in Gainesville and one in Malabar. As noted in the release, “The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters and other state emergencies. The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques.” Video of presser below:
PENSACOLA, Fla – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced more than $100 million in funding proposals to support Florida’s National Guard and establish the Florida State Guard, a civilian volunteer force that will assist the National Guard in state-specific emergencies.
The Governor’s budget proposal includes:
- $87.5 million to expand the existing readiness center in Miramar and to establish three new armories in Homestead, Gainesville and Malabar;
- $8.9 million for existing armory maintenance;
- $2.2 million for a new headquarters for the National Guard Counter Drug Program;
- $5.1 million to support Florida National Guardsmen seeking higher education degrees; and
- $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard.
“We are proud of our veterans and active-duty military members and proud of what our communities do to support them,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Florida is one of the most veteran friendly states, and I think there are very few places that you would rather be on duty than in the state of Florida. As a veteran, I really appreciate what everyone who wears the uniform does in our state, and am excited about these proposals – they will go a long way and have a meaningful impact. In Florida, we are going to continue our momentum of supporting our military, supporting our veterans and being good stewards of our military installations.”
The military spending budget for the Florida National Guard supports vital emergency response services that the National Guard provides.
The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters and other state emergencies. The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques. By establishing the Florida State Guard, Florida will become the 23rd state with a state guard recognized by the federal government.
The budget proposal also includes $12.2 million in scholarships for children and spouses of deceased or disabled veterans, and $3.6 million to improve base infrastructure and support projects that keep our military installations among the best in the nation.
This budget announcement is in addition to other announcements of items that will be in Governor DeSantis’ proposed budget to support law enforcement, education, Everglades restoration and water quality projects. (link)
Sundance, could you devote some coverage to what SGs are and aren’t so that people can be better educated? I have served in one for 13 years myself. The word militia is a legal term but using it to describe us is really not good at all.
It really is good, it’s just that they have tried to make militia synonymous with radical militant racist white supremacy. But the 2nd Amendment and militia go together and is as American as Mom and apple pie.
Our Founders were very leery of the Federal Government and this was one of the checks that they put into place to deal with an out of control Fed. The message that DeSantis is sending is pretty clear, “Let us alone.” I don’t think the timing could be more apropos.
Constitutionally speaking the Militia is The People. You can say 18 to 45 years old if you want but it really means all the people.
Title X, Sec. 311 of the US Code.
Indeed, a “standing army” was cautioned against by nearly all the founding fathers…..and they were right.
Militias and citizen grand juries. We’re going to need them to bring criminals to justice, as we have NO MECHANISM to do so anymore.
Yes we will Missy
My 9X Great-Grandfather organized the able-bodied males in their Vermont town as the local militia . . . in 1776.
He became the Captain. At age 49.
Beautiful. Thank you.
For one thing, the reality is that a State Guard is NOT directed by Federal oversight but rather the Governor. In the State of Texas the Military Forces stand over the National Guard the NG being a subset of Texas Military Forces. This is, I am sure, the intent of what Florida is doing as well. The truth is that the psychological warfare and biowarfare being conducted against Western democracies have created an atmosphere of mistrust of institutions such as the FDA, NIH and CDC. Federal responses to state needs have been underwhelming over the years in Red States and now the divisions are becoming more obvious. Call it a State Guard a Militia, a Military Forces (as Texas does) or what have you. The fact is that the Indians are getting restless. Those Indians being us.. The people that made America great in the first place, and now we are being injected with dirt and kicked to the curb. Wrong answer. It is going to go hot. If you can’t be in the Kitchen quit pretending you are not indeed a militia and get the hell out of the kitchen.
i think a lot of people in the USA are ready for this cold civil war to go hot.
I think you are right.
This was the comment I was expecting Sundance to make! You are spot on and raise the very important question about what this REALLY is. One has to read between the lines and understand the context. This initiative by the nearl y only sane and brave governor in the country is not idle. It’s not about “natural disasters.” It’s about Florida becoming the Alamo to the Great Dystopian Nightmare the rest of the western world has become (I’m writing from central London, but have been in FL and in CA in the last month.) The Alamo needs a fighting force. DeSantis is literally inviting fighting men to come to Florida.
Check out the State Guard Association of the United States at http://www.sgaus.org
Lots of info and links to individual States units.
Our federal government has no reason for existence if it won’t protect us. In the final analysis a government only exists to provide security for a group of people; that’s a condition that reaches all the way back to the “Old-Man and the tribe.”
This being inescapable axiomatic truth. The only thing I can foresee is two different justice systems operating independently within the United States. This nation would divide organically right along whatever accommodating “Natural Map” boundaries.
we the people…
in order to form a more perfect union…
ESTABLISH JUSTICE
its the first one on the list
Provide for the common defense…
Not only does it not protect us it is out to get us.
I believe the more correct statement is that the government exists to protect its citizens rights. ONE of which is security in there persons and things. See “governments are instituted among men…”, Connecticut General Assembly.
Even as much as I do not see a political solution to our spiritual, cultural problems in America, DeSantis is looking more and more like a guy who might at least TRY TO LEAD the country in 2024.
Proviso alert:
IF we can secure the rotted election system currently stealing your and my vote.
That is one big IF, for certain.
God bless!
I was speaking with another contractor friend of mine yesterday and he spoke of how he tracked his vote here in CA through the online portal. It was never counted.
That happened to SIX of our friends in VA! Fraud is rampant.
But there is a solution… Tactical Civics . com

A 2024 of team of Trump-DeSantis presents many wonderful possibilities. For one thing, Ron is very well grounded in constitutional law and relies on his own knowledge to make these many momentous decisions we’ve witnessed. Had Ron been in the VP seat on Nov. 3, 2020, Trump’s presidency would not have been in disarray during the postelection period trying to find the right legal footing in the courts. I think Ron would have guided those efforts beautifully. Obviously, Pence was no help whatsoever, and all but disappeared.
I sincerely hope destiny brings these two great leaders together in one administration. Certainly, as we look out over the current political wasteland of America, Ron DeSantis, without question, looms as one of America’s most promising leaders who could confidently and triumphantly carry President Trump’s inspired and transformative MAGA agenda well into the future.
Pence took his 30 pieces of silver to disappear. DeSantis does not seem bribable, and he also does not seem like the sort to cave to threats from the Brennan-types.
My thought, or preference, would be for Pres. Trump to remain as a catalyst, but Gov. DeSantis is for me a much more viable candidate.
I don’t see languishing in the VP “warm bucket of spit” role as a good next move for deSantis. IMO he is a bona fide candidate for President in his own right.
Trump’s persona, his personal resources, knowledge of mass media, ability to use mass media-distract msm with outrageous tweets while speaking directly to his base while also methodically undoing TPP, renegotiating NAFTA, building up the military, traveling to all those foreign nations meeting with foreign leaders standing up for America still make him a superior President IMO. DeSantis could learn from him as VP but I dont want to lose DeSantis yet. Former asst US attorney, and US Senator Mike Pompeo knows CIA, Secretary of State- is qualified. He was slow to call for fixing the 2020 election so I am unsure of deep state ties.
Elections are largely irrelevant until the Fourth Branch of government is eliminated. No elected official has the power or mechanisms to uproot them. Even Trump couldn’t do it and things are far worse now. So stop hoping in elections. Politicians cannot solve this and we can’t vote our way out. Best we can do is mass civil disobedience. To make that work we have to be organized and connected at the local level.
DeSantis would be wasted in DC. Suspect anyone who advocates for a President DeSantis.
Suspect anyone who warns of advocating for DeSantis.
It’s been said before many times.
Its hard to believe that Andrew Gillum could have been the Governor of Florida.
Talk about dodging a headshot.
God Almighty sent a David to slay that Goliath and his brothers. All that remains left to be done is destroy the rest of the Philistine army.
David? I though his name was Bruce.
ain’t THAT the truth! It makes me shudder every time I think of it
I say this with compete sincerity.
Like many citizens across this great Nation, many of which have to be wondering and qustioning the disfunctionality of the Federal Government as to it’s substantive role in our lives. Yet, even more importantantly is the question, “What if by this Federal Disfunctionality, the Feds drop the ball, then what?
This not an observation that can be easily assigned to conspiracy and fringe political identity.
This is a very much a measured observation that at the very least calls for a “A State’s Rights level examination of Constitutional Relationships both at the State to Federal level and the State’s sole role of safe guarding Liberty of it’s member citizens.
Call it wake call to a disfunctional Federal Government via an assembled Constitutional Convention charged with addressing the ‘what if’s of a Federal Government that is not able to address this appearnt disfunctionality.
What is the State of Florida to do, “Just to sit back and pretend the Federal Government disfunctionality does not exist and wait for the day after.”
We need a plan B.
That is how disfunctional the Federal Government has become.
Ron, call for a Constitutional Convention even if it is only billed as a mock convention.
Call it a wake up call if only in terms that the Federal Government disfunctionality has reached the point where the great State of Florida at the State Level is actively questioning the viability and substantiality of the Federal Government to provide continuances of Constitutional way of life.
These are very big questions that require political leadership to address.
Essentially, the State of Florida would be interjecting onto the National Stage the question,
“What then happens if DC politics screw the pooch and the citizens of Florida are left to untangling the Constitutional issues under the weight of main stream media emotional designed narratives to influence opinion under very stressful circumstances.
That is my observational point, “The State of Florida has a Constitutional Responsibility to have in place a frame work of going its own way.”
Basically, a foundation to proceed along before the MSM attempts to influence million of the State’s citizens to just exactly what are the Constitutional Issues are the under emotional stress of the Federal government not able to provide continuance of our way of life.
Sadly, that in my opinion is a deeply reflective analysis of our current Federal Political Identities related to the National MSM discourse.
It is an open question that does not reside in any given political identity, nor can be dismissed under the weight of argumentative observations.
Again, is the State of Florida just to sit around at the State’s level of governance and not question, “What happens if in terms of Federal disfunction a day after event presents itself.
Our we here, in the great State of Florida going to try to hash out the ramifications under this stress of the moment, or is political leadership going say the risks are evermore self apparent that require leadership to start to question unforeseen Constitutional Events.
Hence the need for a plan B
If to only provide the citizens of the great State of Florida the semblance of continuality of Governance.
IMHO, these are fully acknowledged Constitutional Issues that will crop up under any circumstance of governance continuality uncertainties.
So, it is an either or circumstance, either protend Federal Government Disfunction does not exist, or as Noah concluded, “Before the Rain, before the rain build your ship”
It is my absolute belief, “That can only be achieved through a State level by calling for a Constitutional Convention.”
Can the aim achieve the results of poking the Federal Government in the eye and have the State introceed on behalf of it’s citizen to say.
“Federal goverance disfunction has reached such a level that those charged with assuring it’s citizens, “All will be well”, can no longer pretend the risks involved are merely matters of a remote impossibility.”
The State of Florida has a social compact with its citizens to safe guard Liberty to all it’s citizens.
The intersecting observational here, “Is at level and under what circumstances does the Federal government ability to carry functional constitutional obligations are interceded by events.”
At what point does a State start to assert itself. How are these actions asserted under the goal of continuance of governance?
Just where are the fault lines in the political polis?
The considerations of these forced issues are such that emotional stress is not the only the issue. It is the fact these emotional stress points can be social controlled to abtain a politically goals of MSM narratives.
Look I am not calling for succession. I am simply stating an observational.
An observational that would naturally call for a Republic of Florida under duress.
All am simply stating is the State government of Florida is to get ahead of this stress curve risk of the Federal Government dropping the ball.
Simply point
How can State of Florida reinvent itself, if the Federal government fails us.
That at the State level, ” Quantifies the risks and the observational need to have a plan B in place.”
That fact that I am communicating a political understanding in terms of this forum speaks volumes about the risks of Federal governance disfunction, such that the great State of Florida needs to to be ahead of this very apparent Federal disfunction.
If only to have a Plan B on the books.
It sounds like a good idea but the truth is the states would have absolutely no control over the convention, it’s articles, it’s influencers or even the basic agenda, EVERYTHING would literally be set at whim.
There are nearly no rules written for the convention process.
We would undoubtedly be completely at the mercy of the setting Congress and special interest lobbies.
That’s far more faith in government than I have.
What would become in the end would be anyone’s guess but if it’s like every other boondoggle of convoluted thing congress does it would undoubtedly benifit only the government and it’s favorite NGOs like everything else does.
I agree with you on this, but perhaps it could be done as an exercise regarding the FLORIDA constitution.
I’m a Floridian, and I’m most concerned about illegal aliens living here, and the greedy farmers love them. They WILL VOTE, unless we scrub our voter rolls NOW. Of course, there are always the real danger of phantom voters…Very real.
The FL legislature meets next spring, and primaries are in August. Times a wasting.
Remember, the very first Constitutional Convention was ordered TO ONLY AMEND THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION… NOT to create an entirely new structure of government.
And it was mostly what would become the statist Federalists who did it. We have our Bill of Rights ONLY because of the Anti-federalists, God bless them!!
We don’t need to re-write the Constitution with a Constitutional convention. WE NEED TO ENFORCE THE EXISTING CONSTITUTION! Holding a Con-Con will open up untold cracks in the existing highest law of our land by allowing what I call the mentally deranged to have a voice in the further destruction of America. No… we don’t need to change a thing about the Constitution except how we enforce it. “We” can start by remembering the hierarchy for who are Sovereign and who are the servants. Learn the truth at: tactical civics . com
Exactamente!
How does one enforce the Constitution when the DOJ and a good deal of the Judiciary consists of criminals? There are still some Judges who can’t be bought or cowed by death threats, but it doesn’t appear there are many of them on the Supreme Court. We’ve had victories in federal district courts against the illegal vaccine mandates, for instance, but the loser in the 6th District is going to take this to the Supreme Court and there are no guarantees this court will uphold the law. They already refused to do their job regarding the most corrupt presidential election in US history, and allowed a Cabal of criminals to steal the election, effectively succeeding at a Coup D’Etat.
Here is your answer, but is will take you to make it happen. TacticalCivics.com/video
Exactly!!
Your point is taken. But did you need so many words to make it?
Your Plan B sounds like South Carolina’s convention of 1860. The only Plan B is to get 2/3 of the state legislatures on board.
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded…”
Barack Hussein Obama
July 2, 2008.
and this became BLM and Antifa
Exactly.
Yes and he then set about like the cowardly dog that he is, arming to the teeth every Federal agency and creating within them paramilitary “civilian” units that could be used as literal attack dogs against the American citizenry. Look at today’s FBI who will send their so-called swat units to actually cross state lines and arrest an American citizen for trespass because they were peacefully attending a rally on 06JAN21. I will stop here, but any intuitive reader should be able to connect the dots. I have just exercised my First Amendment Right to Free Speech. I commend the Governor and say it is time that a free people begin to devise ways to protect themselves from the illegal overreach of a would be authoritarian federal force. I say get behind the governor.
I still ask, where is all that ammo barry took?
Saving it for the Taliban AFGANs that were recently imported.
Probably in his bunker.
Pose that question to the Capitol Police, who want nationwide police powers over the entire country, and the aforementioned Federal agencies who have set up their own in-house paramilitary units. The Feds are armed to the teeth while they attempt to nullify the Second Amendment and turn local sheriff’s and police departments into eunuch. What was happening before 2008, I do not know, but am convinced that after 2008, a great threat to the nation appeared. This is Obama’s legacy.
And we have the completely unconstutionial NDAA, which is why those Jan. 6th prisoners are held in violation of habeas corpus, indefinite detention, etc.
” ….in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. ….”
Exactly, what are these National Security objectives that were set ?
And who is “we”?
You are witnessing the objectives play out. Lawfare lawyer Norm Eisen wrote the playbook “Color Revolution”. He was one of the condescending attack lawyers during the impeachment trials There is or was a video narrated but Eisen on the internet
The Color Revolutionaries bragged openly in the Time Magazine article of how they schemed and carried out their plan. Make no mistake- they and their god Satan are the enemy. This Revolution is continuing in every action taken in DC today. I pray that God’s intervention comes soon and heals our land. God is the only answer. He appointed Donald Trump as the modern day Cyrus. Read Isaiah 45. Trump did indeed catch them all.
God’s intervention isn’t coming until we turn from our own wickedness first, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Trump required a VP much like himself such as Gov. Ron D. I’d vote for a Trump-Desantis Presidency, but I’d prefer a Desantis-Trump Jr. Presidency. That will likely not happen. Donald Sr. didn’t [c]atch them all. Wasn’t it Donald that was impeached?
Perhaps using the term militia best describes the intent behind its formation.
Can you tell me where and when “militia” originated? How about “Grand Jury”?
“Let Us Alone” is a good motto for Florida, especially compared to Illinois’ motto, “Gimme Dat”, New York’s “Help us!”, and California’s “We Wuz Kangs!”
Michigan: “If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look over there while I whack you over the head and take your wallet.”
Pennsylvania: bend over, your money is really ours, even in death. Their death tax is so bad they tax survivor on your joint bank account and anything of value in your home. “Even clothes in case of fur coats.”
Militias are really scary or so the Democrat controlled network TV shows tell you.
Man! I hate the heat but I love this guy. I could learn to love Florida.
The humidity just might kill me, but I agree … I could learn to love Florida. Except he won’t be there forever, and the left will pull out all the stops to replace him with someone that will turn the state into a mirror image of every other state they’ve turned into a sh!thole.
If you read the list of the Traitors who voted for the Federal database to track the vaccination status of all Americans, you will notice a number of the 80 Republicans are from FL. NY Liberals are flooding FL daily. The writing is on the wall.
We bought our first FL home in June 2019, Nassau County..we are here now and it’s low 60’s..July is high 80’s…our second FL home is in Ocala, FL..we bought it last spring..I don’t know why everyone thinks all of FL is hot, humid and gator infested..not my experience..actually Marion County reminds me of Washington County, PA..
Welcome neighbor. I too live in Nassau County Florida. Moved here in 2004. I love this place and Thank God that I live in the free state of Florida. God Bless Governor Desantis. Without our Governor I would be ready to jump off the nearest cliff. Our country is being destroyed by these Evil Marxists. I hope and pray that President Trump had a backup plan in place knowing full well before the election that massive fraud was going to take place. I still believe that we will wake up one day and the military will give us our country back from these anti-American Marxist scum. If we do not go back and reverse the election fraud in 2020, then elections in 2022 and 2024 mean nothing with Dominion voting software and unverified mail in ballots.
This ole Tarheel did fall in love with Florida.
Once a Tarheel, always a Tarheel. It is in the blood.
We moved from Hellinois to NE NC in 2019. Learning to be a Tarheel and praying for our Republic.
Florida is awesome. I was raised in a tourist town though, so you need to figure that in. People were our entertainment. 🙂
We left suburban Chicago in 1/09 and settled in Orange County FL. We had to sit out the real estate bubble burst about a year before we bought a home which has since more than doubled in value. Eliminating the State income tax from our lives helped as did living in the land of abundant sunshine. Also, you don’t have to shovel humidity and you can play golf year round…I’m permanently semi retired.
But best of all is we’ve been blessed with Gov. DeSantis who has reset the bar for state Governors.
Y’all should come!
About time. Texas, my home state, has had the Texas State Guard for years. For emergency aid, relief from storms etc. They are also trained with fire arms and military tactics.
Excellent decision by DeSantis
It is your duty as an American citizen to establish and form a Constitutional Militia and Constitutional Grand Jury. It is stipulated in the Constitution before our more recent forefathers let it slip away. (Lincoln and his federal troops). If every county across the country established legislation to vote into law a Constitutional G.J. and Const. Militia, we could legally hold accountable the servants for not upholding the law. First control all the counties, then you control the states, all states controlled, will rule over the federal government…just like the founding fathers envisioned. Take back your country one county at a time. TacticalCivicsdotcom
Here is an easy link to Governor DeSantis’ contact page if any want to drop him a quick message to express support for him, even from another state. I’m in Texas, and after reading this story and considering the whole of his accomplishments as Florida Governor I just felt the need to let him know that people across the nation are watching him, and are very proud of him even if he isn’t our Governor.
Woopsie! How about that link
https://www.flgov.com/email-the-governor/
I agree with you. Thanks
I used to call Jim Jordan’s and Devin Nunes offices to say similar things. The staff always seemed appreciative.
Cool!
“In early England from the end of the ninth century AD, posse comitatus roughly meant, ‘the power of the county’, and the shire reeve was the strong arm of the crown, collecting taxes and calling up housecarls to quell riots when the people became discontented. Sheriffs arrested and 2 punished the worst criminals…but not the crown’s criminals or ruthless, lawless aristocracy who paid the crown’s expenses. The oligarchs did whatever they liked, as Clintons, Comeys, Obamas, Bidens, governors, mayors and others do in our lawless Republic today. So you see that sheriffs have an ancient history as law enforcement; but enforcing the king’s laws, not the Common Law born in the Compact of Æthelred in 1014 AD and reinforced by Magna Carta in 1215 AD. This is why our Founding Fathers were against career military and ‘law enforcement’, and why sheriffs have not helped restore constitutional militias. On the other side, it’s equally difficult to convince passionate American men who want to be militia, to follow the constitutional process to make their groups legitimate.” – American Militia 2.0- John M. Leyzorek
sheesh. posted this in the wrong place.
Florida is (I believe) the second largest beef producer in the US, produces a lot of vegetables and is surrounded by water (full of sea food) on three sides. And yet it’s 20 plus million residents are largely-dependent on imports from other states.
Governor Desantis’ moves are bold and conservative, but if he/you the residents really want to be independent, at least part of the current efforts to break from federal dependence should include encouraging increases in local food production and decreasing dependence on those trains coming down from places North. Florida is one of few states that really has the resources to be self-supporting. Whatever your personal opinions are, stop fighting and start focusing on food production. It won’t fail you.
I love our Governor, this is great news.
Residents of Florida deserve to be mighty proud of themselves and their governor!
I think that besides rejoicing that DeSantis is throwing off shackles of feds, we should all ponder, prayerfully, why he has decided this is needed? I just woke up at 2am with this question ringing in my head. Why and why now?
Two reasons…antifa and blm.
Not just Yes, but H@[[ YES! Love DeSantis for raising the bar for all states.
God, I pray you’ll bring a great revival and a great awakening, as we finally step up to ownership of our destiny.
Got it backwards. While doing this while a state in the federal leviathan = martial law (in disguise). If Florida SECEDE (and any other state) FIRST then this is legitimate. Good luck.
I live in Florida and this is great news. Developing your own emergency guard in a state that is constantly hit with hurricanes will allow us to address emergency issues with much greater speed and focus. We can pre-stage equipment and supplies in the designated bases and be able to respond immediately. DeSantis knows that when Florida needs help Brandon will not be there to lend a hand. These people can also be trained to handle rioters like they do in Korea.
Floks, this is the man WE THE PEOPLE need to get behind and support for the next POTUS!!!!!!!
Sundance et al: a Floridian asked: https://flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2021/2006/BillText/er/HTML
This: It’s line 1097 #4. Look on the left margin #.
🤷♀️ Sounds like what gov wolf and Levine did in pa.
Maybe an old time Wolverine could enlighten, confirm or dispel 😉
A begging question as to why only Florida is doing this? Which of the other 49 states are doing anything to protect their citizenry from an insane, out of touch, out of bounds federal oligarchy? Anyone know anything? Anyone?
Why is this even controversial when Many states already have their own state guards, not to be confused with the national guard. . NY and Texas do. In most states two types of militia are legally recognized through state statute or their constitution . Organized militia which is formed and funded by the state government and the unorganized militia of ordinary citizens.
Anybody know the origin of the logo with the gator and “Let Us Alone”? Very much like “Don’t Tread On Me” with the snake switched to an animal more associated with Florida.
I think the sense of “patriotism” is going to shift from a Nationalist one to an idealogical one. The challenge will be how to get similar thinking people geographically concentrated together. Things are going to get interesting in 2024-2025. Fourth Turning anyone?
The term militia at the time the second amendment was adopted meant ordinary citizens, not solely a militia formed by the government. The argument that only a state formed militia had the right to bear arms under the second amendment was either an intentional lie or due to historical ignorance. Furthermore, there would be no reason to adopt the second amendment if the intent was only for a state formed militia to be able to bear arms because that it was a given they would be able to bear and own firearms.
As mentioned in the article, twenty-two states already have an active State Guard or Defense Force, and the remainder have constitutional and/or statutory authorization for one.
Most are organized as Army units, wear Army uniforms with State patches, and follow Army Regulations. Most expect State Guardsmen to provide their own uniforms and equipment.
Every State Guardsman I’ve asked this question owns an AR15 pattern rifle and a sidearm, either 9mm or .45 cal. Even the JAGs, Chaplains and Surgeons. (My Battalion Surgeon had his own HUMVEE).
For more info check out http://www.SGAUS.org
So long as he doesn’t specifically favor former military and police, this will be a great move. Those who have blindly followed the unconstitutional orders of government haven’t shown a positive side, regardless of how everyone like to portray them. They have been part of the segment of society that has enabled the massive growth of government power and violence. Plenty of libertarian, America first (versus Israel, the MIC, etc. first) folks out there who would love to put their skills and principles to good use defending the state and freedom for a change. Hopefully he will be recruiting from them as well.
I love this! It’s time We The People get involved!!
Excellent development. It puts a friendly face on the fundamental right of 2A militias without crossing into firearm arguments or standing armies.
Florida puts in place training dollars for “citizens” to make up a well regulated militia available for emergencies. I assume the citizens will be required to provide much of their own personal equipment within a range of options for consistency, just as the militia act of 1792 required 18-45 yo men to supply their own rifle/musket. Learning communications, chain of command, logistics, supply chain, teamwork, first aid/medical aid, fire fighting, hurricane relief and so much more available at a “well regulated” voluntary citizen level that can be called upon in local and state emergencies. Also note, this doesn’t mean a state standing army either.
This differs from the Dick Act that formed the national guard to “supposedly” improve state level militia (military) readiness without being a standing army restrictions but can be controlled by the President.
The financial system of the U.S. is irretrievably broken, with at least $29T in debt. IT CANNOT BE FIXED. Once the debt bubble pops, say goodbye to those IRAs and 401Ks, as well as to Social Security. The population of the U.S. will not be prepared for the fallout from that cataclysmic event. With no S.S. and no savings, what will seniors live on? What will the welfare class live on? What will the Covid unemployed live on? The U.S. is a dead man walking; the only question is, how long will the rest of the world go along with the charade of pretending that the dollar is viable?
Every state should do this.
Wow! Perfect motto (“Let Us Alone”). It’s great to have a State Militia that CAN’T be Federalized by Joe Biden.
I wonder how many of the National Guard will flip to state militias in a confrontation.
