All the right moves….. We can expect the national media to go bananas as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a bold step in advancement of federalism with authorization and funding for the formation of a state militia known as the Florida State Guard [Announcement Here].
During an event today in Pensacola Florida, the governor announced the creation of three new state-centric armories to support the new state guard units. One in the former airbase at Homestead, one in Gainesville and one in Malabar. As noted in the release, “The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters and other state emergencies. The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques.” Video of presser below:
PENSACOLA, Fla – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced more than $100 million in funding proposals to support Florida’s National Guard and establish the Florida State Guard, a civilian volunteer force that will assist the National Guard in state-specific emergencies.
The Governor’s budget proposal includes:
- $87.5 million to expand the existing readiness center in Miramar and to establish three new armories in Homestead, Gainesville and Malabar;
- $8.9 million for existing armory maintenance;
- $2.2 million for a new headquarters for the National Guard Counter Drug Program;
- $5.1 million to support Florida National Guardsmen seeking higher education degrees; and
- $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard.
“We are proud of our veterans and active-duty military members and proud of what our communities do to support them,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Florida is one of the most veteran friendly states, and I think there are very few places that you would rather be on duty than in the state of Florida. As a veteran, I really appreciate what everyone who wears the uniform does in our state, and am excited about these proposals – they will go a long way and have a meaningful impact. In Florida, we are going to continue our momentum of supporting our military, supporting our veterans and being good stewards of our military installations.”
The military spending budget for the Florida National Guard supports vital emergency response services that the National Guard provides.
The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters and other state emergencies. The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques. By establishing the Florida State Guard, Florida will become the 23rd state with a state guard recognized by the federal government.
The budget proposal also includes $12.2 million in scholarships for children and spouses of deceased or disabled veterans, and $3.6 million to improve base infrastructure and support projects that keep our military installations among the best in the nation.
This budget announcement is in addition to other announcements of items that will be in Governor DeSantis’ proposed budget to support law enforcement, education, Everglades restoration and water quality projects. (link)
Hoorah! I live in Texas and I might just move to Florida! Gov Abbott do the same for use on the Southern Border! Godspeed Gov DeSantis!
Abbott is a clone of Lindsey Graham and McConnell.
Blows whichever way the wind blows.
Abbott has had more than enough time and opportunity to implement many of the things DeSantis has done for the citizens of Florida but in the end only goes just far enough to fool many Texans into thinking that he is doing things for them first.
Yes, Abbott is nothing more than a warm Bush Lite!
I don’t live in Texas so I don’t a working knowledge of Governor Abbott nor do I have a dog in the fight….but I do love you calling him “a warm Bush Lite.”
Excellent
I would have been a bit more crass saying he’s as significant as a warm platter of goat urine.
Dang, CJ I posted much the same !
Abbott is totally about money and votes. DeSantis is a true leader, Abbott?? Not so much
True.
When no one’s following, he’s not leading.
I’m voting for either Huffines or West in the primaries. Doing my homework before any decision. Abbott will not call a fourth Special Session to enshrine “no mandates” into law.
Will not call a fourth Special Session to address the hideous property taxes as he promised he would.
He tweets about pretty sunsets and his wife and mother though, so there’s that.
I have emailed his office to tell him that all he had to do to win reelection was watch what DeSantis is doing…and do THAT!
I pray tens of thousands of other Texans have done the same. I’m finished hoping he’ll step up.
I just called him.
Anybody pick up?
Why hasn’t Abbott shut down what used to be the Border with the Texas Nat’l Guard?? Or the Texas Rangers??
I seem to remember he made a half hearted effort. But it quickly disappeared.
Either West or Huffines works for me too.
There is some skullduggery smearing beginning on Huffines. I bet it is coming from McConnell’s sad, sorry group.
Exactly right.
Abbott’s a bushie boy! Only reason he’s done what he has is reelection.
Jettison Abbott and Costello, and bring on Alan West.
A life-long friend died of Covid in Texas last week. He could have been cured with Ivermectin, HCQ, or infused antibodies but he was denied those in Texas. We miss him.
Really? I see antibody signs everywhere here in Frisco TX.
Also, sorry to hear about your friend.
I get my HCQ from Dr. Emmanuel in Houston. Extremely easy. Ivermectin is available too.
My wife and I take it weekly.
No mask for 2 years and go where I please.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. We have lost more family members & friends under the Bigot Administration with the vaccine than the Trump Administration without the vaccine.
We HAVE the ability to use alternate medicines NOT supported by the Feds, the media & Big Tech to assist patients with COVID at any stage. That hospitals, doctors, et al., REFUSE to use them when the patients are dying is MURDER, IMHAO.
Those drs administering alternatives & keeping patients from dying are heroes.
Hanging Fauci by his gonads is way too kind.
Y’all can’t go across the Border to a Mexer Pharmacy and get HCQ and Ivermectin OTC??
Do you know how big Texas is? For most it’s a 6-8 hour drive one way or more to the border unless you live along the border! Not practicable! Better to use a FLCCC doctor!

“Politics is local”
Especially with comorbidities and Delta you don’t have time to f’ with balky drs, pharmacists and mail order.
Truth is any (highly) comorbid person that does’t stock up ahead of time, do prophyylais too and know the Delta pills drills, is taking a mortal risk, especially with so many pharm/medical unfriendlies or the sub orned.
Sorry about your friend, however, one can go across the border to Mexico and get
Ivermectin without a prescription in one of their pharmacies. I am going to Tucson
Az in February and plan on driving to Nogales on the Mexico border to purchase some.
It is safe as long as you are there in the morning/early afternoon.
I know someone who was in Cabo and did the same.
Houston way I’ll bet. I’m truly sorry. Another thing Abbott could have, should have addressed, as DeSantis has. Crickets.
Governor Ron DeSantis! Already a legend!
I am also in Texas and I second that.
Texas has a Texas State Guard…
https://tmd.texas.gov/state-guard
Since 1823.
Buddy… many people are feeling this way. I75 was at a crawl this weekend. 20mph for the first four hours coming into FL. Popular place these days… I can’t say that I blame anyone, I’m here because we are free! Gov De Santis has lead the way for freedom, liberty loving Patriots.
Snowbirds are the reason we have no state income tax. Tourism dollars takes up the slack
Texas has a State Guard. I served in it for 7 years.
I didn’t know that. Thank you for your service. Were you ever used?
Texas already has a state guard, which is in addition to National Guard units. Together, the state guard and the national guard are the Texas Military Department.
This governor is all in – love the slogan!!
Too bad we don’t have a state law that prevents “dingbats” like Piglosi from buying property here.
They want to turn their states into cesspools then, come here and try to destroy our Great state…. While I’m ranting, I might as well add how they Love to lock dwn their states But Love to come to our “Free” state to vacation ….. OK, I feel better, rant over ….
I live in Florida, Love our Govenor, and LOVE LOVE LOVE that Polution bought a $25 million dollar house/home here. WHY? Just think of the Political Capital DeSantis and other Political allies can Milk from from Polution’s Stupid move! Never interrupt your Enemy when she is making a mistake!
Like watching the movie Gladiator all over again. DeSantis even looks a little Russel Crowe-like.
^^ lol, I totally can see this!
Notice DeSantis doesn’t sit around and respond.
Pro active leadership is a sign of real opposition politics.
With the GOP, all we ever get is pro active surrender in the form of “compromise” or “reaching across the aisle” or some other time tested ploy for duplicity.
PS
I sent a check to the Florida “Stop the Steal” campaign run thru the GOP. I signed the check to “DeSantis Re-election Campaign”. That was several months. Hasn’t been cashed.
Palms greasing palms!
“Proactive” you hit the nail on the head and time was ticking before the media pulled a hit somewhere in the state. Just like they always do when they want to stir up division.
There may be a slight but subtle message being conveyed through the podium.
If one looks hard enough he or she just might be able to pick up on it.
Other state emergencies…like a civil war where the bidenistas try to take over and force vac compliance?
When climate change floods out FL, the state guard will be needed to “keep the state afloat”. Get it lefties?
My first thought was this was for protection against the federal government. I’m cynical.
That’s not cynicism. That’s reality-based perspective.
It probably is, but he is right to not just come out and say that!
That was my thought, too, Rob. Let Biden try to send the federales to round up Florida’s unvaccinated and they’ll have to go through Gov. DeSantis and the Florida State Guard.
Yeah. DeSantis ain’t playin.’
And you may also be accurate:)
Then I am too! 😉
My first thought was that it sounds like a Florida state controlled model of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, which I’m a former member of. Civilians helping out their state via military organizational protocols, all voluntary, local and with access to greater training and organizing than you can get through a NGO.
Thinking it is to protect us from Pelosi.
That was my first thought too!
Florida needs military and like minded volunteers to join by the thousands and get “trained” on protecting Florida citizens.
Just take a look at Australia, Austria, and now Germany you will understand that Florida is providing this state military to protect its people from the federal government and the likely imposition of a physical vaccine mandate enforcement.
Everyone needs to join and get trained to stop the obvious efforts by the federal government to vaccinate everyone in Florida as well as other states.
We just returned from 3 weeks in Florida, life is normal. California has weather and not much else, it is a joke. Who needs cash bail? Masks everywhere, Gov Nuisance is a real problem for liberty minded patriots.
Not subtle in the least !!!!!
Glad you picked up on it.
Lived in Florida for over 50 years and have rarely seen the “resist” spirit as strong as it is today.
Floridiands have always been contrary, (well, except for SE Florida) and we have that survivor spirit. Neighbor helps and protects neighbor kinda spirit.
DeSantis is a native West Coast Floridian…we’re a common sense, loving and caring bunch on this coast …he obviously comes from a loving family.
He loves his family, community, his state. NE Florida is proud too, as he and Casey resided there before the Governor’s Mansion.
Ain’t nothing subtle about it lol
Yeah, it’s “Back off, Feds. We got this.”
Nuance is very powerful.
All Red States need to follow the example. FJB.
All
RedStates need to follow the example. FJB… (there … fixed it fer ya) 🙂
Seriously … when you boil it down, even the “Blue” states are mostly red except for those over populated communist enclaves run by the likes of Lightfoot and DeBlasio ….
…or maybe the over-populated communist enclaves never truly voted for the likes of Lightfoot, DeBlasio et al for the past 4 decades…I’ll take “Dominion stealing large cities for 40 years” Alex.
No kidding, plus commiecrats happily flip-steal all the extra votes they need from rural areas, ever since the old-fashioned kachunk machines were retired.
If your red state has a city population threatening to outgrow the rest of the state, do something, anything, to stop it from happening. This is Terminator territory.
He said that the increase NG abilities will also be able to help with federal needs?
Is this a good thing?
DD
I know very little about how the National Guard works but I had the same thought at first. I suspect what he may be doing is trying to cut ties to the Federal government so that they cannot dictate what things FL can and cannot do. Perhaps he is laying the groundwork for terminating the FL National Guard but needs a state-controlled force to replace them. Again, I don’t know if he even has the power to do that but I hope that is the plan. The more states free themselves from the DC purse strings, the better.
Would love to know more about the Guard if anyone can cares to educate.
to great success the Louisiana national guard mobilized here in SW Louisiana immediately after hurricane Laura and Delta.
it was terrific and very much needed…made a huge difference.
hot meals .. shower…emergent care. transporting people to aid stations, clearing roads to get first responders and infrastructure teams where they could not otherwise need to go and start repairs.
thousands showed up, rolled up their sleeves and got to work…
and thanks to Texas, Arkansas, alabama and Oklahoma for donating their own guard.
it made a huge difference.
about twenty different strategically located stations from Cameron all the way up past dequincy…orange Texas to Jennings.
wonderful and right on time.
stayed for 4 months after the second hurricane to help the communities get a foothold.
you needed water and ice…even fuel…request chainsaw crews and dangerous debris removal…they did it all.
mawmaw needed help to relocate and get emergency assistance and mobile call centers. did all that.
my brother served with Louisiana national guard as on active duty (a special designation) and commanded troops… deployed to Iraq to set up and maintain the green zone…had a run in with the idiot geralda (sp?)… got him kicked out of embeds for releasing classified and dangerous video that put lives at risk.
but it can also be very political too and that attracts the uglier nasty bigfoots like general DIS-Honore! (Katrina wanker and DC protest “expert” drawn in to create quick reaction force against us citizens!
overall, state guard forces do exceptional well and spend lots of time training for emergency contingencies.
where it can go sideways is when governors use them as their private jackboots or when they are not given the power to actually do necessary law enforcement and protection roles.
I have full confidence desantis will provide the proper leadership and utilize this new guard in Florida for a host of requirements without encroaching on posse comitatus limits.
God bless America
Eisenhower federalized National Guard troops to protect black students being admitted to white schools. JFK did the same thing in Alabama.
State National Guard–while nominally under state leadership and control–can be federalized. DeSantis may be looking down the road.
Needs a state force built without federal dollars.
and loyal and dependent on wages/pensions from the state, not the feds. Pure genius!
Fantastic.
His very existence makes the left bat crap crazy.
That sign on the podium is the best.
I think a fellow Treeper in anpther thread said it was the slogan from the original Florida Guard… 1800’s???
“Let us alone” not hard to see this is aimed directly at Washington DC, specifically the fourth branch.
Its also our original state motto, was even on the first flag
Nice! People, like myself, who didn’t grow up in FL would never know these little facts that bring a subliminal message to the enemy.
Got a few buddies down there who may heed the call…..if age doesn’t disqualify them. ;-(
Since my state has little chance of ever duplicating this feat (unless God intervenes) I’m increasing my hikes to 30 miles a day, full pack.
I’d drive my 6-speed VW but with diesel $3.79 and climbing and on fixed income it’s more cost effective to hike.
I should reach FL in just over a month……pending the weather.
DeSantis needs to distribute his leaders anonymously. He’s already a target. Let the unknowns carry the day.
Love My Governor, Ron DeSantis
He’s been great for Florida !!!
x2m thats why I picked up and moved here.
well, that and F Gavin Newsom.
So lucky to have one of the few sensible guys in power…..
It makes me wonder about those living in already occupied states. Would this type of initiative work on a county or town level? Just curious.
A real governor.
Greg are you watching?
So impressive! And not a face diaper in sight!
Desantis loves to throw sand and Biden’s Depends.
Well….now things in my SWFL benchrest life sorta make some sense…maybe.
And, I’m less pissed off now. Maybe.
Seems our Sheriff planned something unusual Saturday for his cohorts only.
Nuff said…

#WinningBigTimeInFLA
Florida Guardians – better name.
Indiana Guardians
Maine Guardians…
And not just natural disasters, but man made ones such as an EMP attack. Using the Guardians umbrella we can prepare each state to recover from such an event. Right now, there’s nothing.
Richard Austin/Victor Milan would approve.
The ongoing COVID-19 nonsense here in the United States exists solely and exclusively because our governments have failed to use the correct treatment. They used so-called “vaccines” when Japan has just proven, in less than ONE MONTH, that Ivermectin can wipe out the disease. IVM was awarded the Nobel prize for medicine in 2015. One of the 3 most important drugs in human history: Aspirin, Penicillin, and Ivermectin.
Get your Ivermectin while you still can! https://ivmpharmacy.com
Good. No more asking for help from the feds when there’s an emergency. The definition of emergency here includes the threat of antifa/blm violence.
What, sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty. Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.
– Elbridge Gerry, Jame Madison’s Vice President
Governor DeSantis, is so proactive for Florida, that most other governors seem complacent by comparison.
More states should follow this model. Stop asking ‘mother may I’ of the Fed when the Fed derives its powers from the states. Time to start taking them back.
NY’s evil queen Ho’chul seizes emergency powers faster than a duck on a junebug without raising a federal eyebrow or a media query, but I bet Ron DeSantis will cause yet another meltdown.
Go Florida. Teach the mellow yellow Repub governors how it’s done.
Where is my governor, Abbott?? Oh that’s right, I forgot…down at the border handing out welcoming gifts for our newest “citizens” and telling them that mandates don’t apply to them .
“Howdy y’all!! Come right on in! Texas welcomes you!”
Is Governor Abbott really doing that? So he is saying one thing and doing something entirely different?
He doing it in absentia. Doing nothing except lip flap, promising to finish building the wall (which is funded), not standing up with Border patrol, posing as a DeSantis type of governor…and by doing nothing concrete is essentially welcoming the world and his wife (and “their” children) with a good old Texas welcome.
Got you. Thanks.
Out with Abbott, and in with Alan West.
I certainly am looking at him. It is too nightmarish to imagine Boy Beta (Not Beto) in charge.
Removing guns is his priority, as he proudly and loudly and often states. In Texas?? Even the majority Mexican population, who have borne the brunt of the destructive open borders in South Texas and who were once reliable Dem voters, have said no in two special elections, going red. Expecting more of the same. Praying for it.
I say, get rid of the National Guard and have a State Guard (Militia) as the National Guard can be federalized.
From native North Carolinian to double decade Floridian…”Nothing could be finer than to be a Sunshiner in Floooridaaa!” Thank the Lord for John 9:5 the light shines a little brighter here in Florida!
Creating jobs and opportunity while splodin heads in Disfunction Central.
Love it!!!
He should use federal “infrastructure” funds.
New York State has The Old Guard which is also a state guard totally under control of the governor!
“Let Us Alone”. A gator version of “Don’t Tread on Me”. Each state should have its own similar motto in a Federation.
Cheers to the best Governor this country has seen in a long time.
Nice. I wish I could live in Florida! Probably too many headed there now.
There has to be a better word than “exceptional” to describe this extraordinary governor.
A God send
Re “There has to be a better word than “exceptional” to describe this extraordinary governor.”
The best I can think of to say about Florida’s extraordinary governor is that if there’s one person who MIGHT be an even better leader than Donald Trump, it would have to be DeSantis.
I served in the California State Guard (at the time known as the California State Military Reserve) from 1983 until 2001. Escaped Kalifornia for Texas in 2015. Go Florida! Git sum.
Didn’t realize there were 22 other states who have State Guards.
Texas here. Every state Governor should follow the FL Governor’s lead. I grow to admire him more daily. Wake up other states.. especially those who claim Red state status.
Prayers they all find the courage to do what’s right.
I sure wish some (all) of those other Republican governors would start emulating Governor DeSantis.
Most of them are weak tea at best.
”
So more for the Florida National Guardsmen to get degrees in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, CRT, Wokeness an LGBTQLMNOPXYZ than for the State Guard in total. And zip to protect the boarder from the ongoing massive nation invasion.
Upon further review, color me underwhelmed.
I dont know if you’ve ever been in the military but if you were you’d know how hard retention is and thats for active duty. N.G. of course are part time – 1 drill weekend per month and two weeks per year training. Plus call ups for disasters/ riots. They have to compete with the private sector for talent and the constant pressure from Regular Army to steal that talent with bonuses for going active duty. There would be no need for incentives if there wasnt a dire need in retention. As far as the 3.5 million for the state guard my question is this- how much money did they have yesterday? Oh- the last time I checked it was the Federal Government’s duty to protect the nations borders but protecting other nations borders has been the Uniparty priority for the last 70 years.
I just happen to have 2 dd214’s (2 instead of 1 because of the military’s caste system).
Your contribution to a better solution is MIA.
Dump your “Intentional Friendly Fire” attempts to undermine Governor Desantis.
Man, I’m so freaking jealous of Floridians.
Good news again out of Florida.
This is an excellent pro/active move. The Florida governor is getting excellent advice it seems and it demonstrates what can be accomplished when you have a team pulling in the same direction.
I’d like to see them become fully self sufficient.
Not my Governor.
Maybe someday I can refer to him as my President.
I do not understand why we do not see more R governors doing the things Gov. DeSantis is doing.
Because many are really democrats.
Just UniParty members, the other side of the coin, the other wing of the foul (intentionally used).
See: Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Because they are cowards who just happen to be politicians.
Courage is contagious so maybe they will enter the fray at
some point in time. Ain’t holding my breath though.
Hopefully Gov RD will blaze a trail. The Power brokers and Commies are not going to make it easy. I do know that.
Imagine if Paul LePage were to make an announcement of intent to create the Maine Guard akin to Governor DeSantis with the Florida Guard, once he gets elected to the Blaine House again.
I so wish he was our governor in Texas!!
Salute!
If DeSavage wanted to go into full beast mode he’d form the Florida State Militia too…..like Commiefornia already has.
I wonder why he’s putting them all in the east. Hurricanes hit the panhandle, too.
The panhandle will defend themselves.
I pray to the Holy Virgin Mary to intercedeand to lift this prayer to G-d’s ears: Protect and bless this man. Protect and bless Donald Trump. Protect and bless this nation and bring us back to the Father. Amen
All the right moves. It has become so very clear that nobody (except illegal aliens) can depend on the federal government, they have abandoned the constitution, and they treat themselves as if they are above the law. Florida is demonstrating that they shall be fully prepared for whatever comes their way.
I would not be the least bit surprised if the Obama/Biden group attacked Florida in a manner that would silence the entire area.
Thank you Gov DeSantis. This is exactly what has been keeping me up at night. I know instinctively, as many of you do, that eventually the left will attack. His speech the other night about not playing the game with Omnicrom was nice but I noticed something even better. He put the media on notice that they would not be able to stir up trouble in FL and his incentive to bring in more police and first responders was a sign that he sees the bigger picture. Leftists cannot stand prosperity unless they control it and when they do it always crumbles (see CA). Hollywood and Silicon Valley kept the state afloat for a while but both industries seem to be scattering. The left has a penchant to make everyone as miserable as they are.
Cheers to Gov. DeSantis!!!
Now he just needs to use federal funding for it.
