Neel Kashkari is head of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve. If you know the financial lingo, you can see the dire forecast behind the opaque language. In plain-speak, Kashari is saying when it comes to prices and inflation, “we’re screwed“…
In this interview with CBS talking head Margaret Brennan, Kashkari admits inflation is still going up, and it will get worse. Keep in mind, the lingo of the inflation conversation is discussing “percentages of change.” Kashkari claims the percentages of change will start to slow in a few years, but the prices will never return to their former level.
The percentage of inflationary change (this year vs last year) will continue going up, as prices continue to skyrocket over almost every sector. CTH points out this issue, because as the Fed continues printing current money, the value of future money drops and the price of goods continues to climb. The fast-turn goods rise in price quickest (now recorded at 6.2%), and the inflation on slow-turn durable goods lags but hits even harder.
Current real inflation inside the ‘total’ economy, the cumulative snowball that is coming down the mountain, is over 20% and still growing. This situation puts the forecast prices of 2022 goods at an alarming level. WATCH:
The fed has no tools to slow the rate of current inflation, as interest rates are disconnected {Revisit The New Dimension in Modern Economics} from the cost of goods produced. The only thing the Fed can do is to stop purchasing debt (Quantitative Easing), stop purchasing our own bonds, at a slower rate.
Despite being a progressive himself, even Neel Kashkari is telling congress to stop spending money.
.
Maybe you don’t have kids at home, maybe you don’t pack lunches or care what the cost of a pound of bologna will be, maybe you are retired and the stove hasn’t been operated all year as you prefer to dine out…. but I can assure you, to a demonstrable certainty, that almost all middle class working Americans will be making decisions on what food products they can afford. Head lettuce at $4 to $5 each, eggs at $3/doz, milk around $6/gal, butter around $8/lb, and citrus so expensive getting an orange in your Christmas stocking will be a trend again in 2022.
The background conversations in the raw material, processing, manufacturing, wholesaling and food contract networks are enough to make you lose sleep.
[…] Tyson sent a letter to at least two regional distributors last month in which it said that prices on Ball Park, Hillshire Farm, Jimmy Dean, State Fair and all deli meats will increase by a range of 5% to 10.2% beginning Jan. 2 for “all retail customers.” … “We continue to face accelerating levels of extraordinary inflation,” Tyson said in the letter. “The sustained duration and significant impact of the inflation necessitates additional pricing action.” (link)
The traditional net terms at 30, 60 or 90 days are right now a hot topic, as producers and suppliers in the food supply chain can no longer commit to contractual prices for future goods delivered. The upstream price increases are so large, the downstream suppliers will not contract on fixed prices, EVEN for the big box retailers.
Only those who know the scale of Walmart buying office pressure and dominance can appropriately contextualize a current WM supplier telling the behemoth to “go spit” if they don’t like the fact that price guarantees are no longer part of the equation. Yeah, it is THAT bad.
We are only a few months away from seeing massive inflation that will fundamentally change the way everyone looks at food shopping, or highly consumable purchases, and what the middle class formerly considered to be “luxury” purchases. Inflation, in the background, is going to come through the supply chain like a thundershock…. and it’s not just food.
This recent insider comment caused me to do some digging, and this is 100% accurate:
“I am an executive in the detergent chemical industry that supplies all of the major pharmaceutical companies, and am in charge of pricing and purchasing of large quantities of raw materials – both commodities, and surfactants, which are the main ingredients in detergents. Here is a brief overview of the situation.
Commodities, such as sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), sodium carbonate (soda ash), and other basic additives that adjust pH, thickness, anti-redeposition, rinseability, and other properties are up around 10-15% on a raw material cost basis from February. Not a single material is unaffected.
Citric acid is up nearly 40-50% when it can be found, at minimum. There is a nationwide allocation, which means that they give material to whom they feel like. One of the major domestic manufacturers of these materials shut down production of citric acids and other acidulants due to maintenance. Many companies in my industry are paying nearly 300% (not a typo – three hundred percent) increases on citric acid.
Domestic primary surfactants, which are made by a handful of companies such as Stepan Company, Solvay, Huntsman, and many more, are up 15-20%, due mainly to oil cost, transportation, etc.
Domestic specialty surfactants, specifically of a class called ethoxylated surfactants, are nearly gone. Not hard to get, not difficult to find – gone. In February, the ice storm took out piping and power lines along the entire gulf coast. The two towns that got hit hardest were Houston, TX, and a little town called St. Charles, LA. St. Charles is where all ethoxylation takes place in the USA for everyone from Dow to Sasol to BASF, and is the key process to make these specialty ethoxylated surfactants. Then, after 4 months of shutdowns, just when everything was getting back into swing, Hurricane Ida wrecked everything all over again.
Dow, one of the largest companies in the world, only restarted production at their facility there in early October.
The crisis of transportation and at the ports is only adding to this crisis of manufacturing in the chemical industry. News to everyone? It was never covered, not even once, on the news.
If truckers are going to be forced to be vaccinated come January, there will be even less trucks than there are now.
The wheels of the world are being purposefully and deliberately ground to a halt. We’d be better off with the mafia back in control of the ports worldwide.
This is going to get so much worse before it gets any better, and the administration in office is doing everything in their power to make sure it is as bad as possible.” (link)
And this on “Industrial Price Increases“:
Kamala Harris is worried about feeding children of the world, while we are literally weeks away from millions of working class, non-subsidized Americans being worried about feeding their own kids. Infuriating is an understatement.
Please prepare yourselves and your families accordingly. The proactive window to prepare for what’s coming in the short term is approximately 60 days from today; and then spending options begin to diminish quickly.
Yes, the rate of price increase may indeed level off. However, we will not see prices dropping or returning to their prior position even after this is over. The price of goods is climbing, will continue to climb and will eventually reach a point that they stop climbing – if policies change and/or the 2022 mid term election gets rid of the communists who are spending the money; but those prices are not going to come back down, ever.
A current loaf of bread, widget or (fill_in_the_blank) at $4.69 will climb to near $6.00 in 2022, and that will be the new normal price of that widget, bread or item from that moment into the future. If you accept that behind you is a massive price increase about to hit on almost everything you purchase, anything you can do now to offset the impact to your household budget when the full weight of these price increases hit is going to be well worth doing.
This is all being done by design.
3rd horseman. Starvation.
They all seem to ride together don’t they.
That man has crazy eyes.
OOPS, did not mean to flag.
You don’t spend 3,000 years locked up in a sarcophagus with beetles and come out of it untouched. You’re gonna be a little edgy for a while. Personally, I think the ‘crazy eyes’ add a certain unique flair and intensity to his already formidable stage presence.
Kashari claims the percentages of change will start to slow in a few years, but the “prices will never return to their former level.”
Didn’t some infamous President say “those jobs are not coming back” ?
Trump brought prices down for gas at least. He can do it again if we can get a fair election.
By the time the presidential elections come around for 2024, things will be so bad that even the
naysayers will be begging him to run. Unless they are drop dead ugly dumb, who else do they
think can straighten out this mess?
When Richard Nixon took us off the gold standard and initiated price controls, we elected the peanut farmer who made it all worse – anyone here remember gubmint cheese and butter lines? The Barter Economy?
We survived until Ronald Reagan came along. We’ll do it again.
Well, the Real Americans will survive and do it again. Cannot speak for the commie squatters here.
I hate to say it but they’ll never let Trump or any outside the Beltway Swamp non uniparty candidate win. Ever. They pulled it off in 2020 albeit with some visible flaws. 2024 they’ll have it mastered to perfection. This is even assuming there will be a Presidential Election in 2024.
Exactly right. The Criminal Syndicate will NEVER allow Trump (or anyone else not controlled by them) to become President. Note that distinction well: there may well be a Republican that will be allowed to run and “win” but you can be sure that person will be a Swamp Creature. A counterrevolution is required now and military force is the only way. Federal elections are meaningless now.
KashNkari is swamp through and through. Back in my undergrad days years ago you could look to the Minneapolis Fed or the St. Louis Fed Presidents for some straight talk and analysis of Monetary Policy.
No more.
Browse his Twitter feed. He has been operating in Upside Down World at the Fed for his entire tenure.
It must have really been discomforting to acknowledge reality. But that is all it will ever be to him. He will return to his head nodding role and rubber stamp our Fed policy wherever it leads.
They are using economics from a theorist who was speaking of the economy as it existed in the 1930s and 40s.
These overeducated nitwits cannot realize that things have changed a wee bit since the 1930s and 40s.
Agreed. All the Fed Presidents are now political operatives that talk in platitudes. Kaplan is now gone, trading stocks on insider info, while sitting as CEO of the Dallas Fed. A new political hack will take his place.
And then he will snatch out a bandit’s eyes for his own hollow eyesockets and munch on a juicy scarab beetle! Mwahahaha! Never underestimate Imhotep, lowly mortal!
Why is inflation coming down in 2024?

I’m A Twenty Year Truck Driver, I Will Tell You Why America’s “Shipping Crisis” Will Not End

The Fed Taper Is Not Meaningful, Rate Hikes Will Crash The System Again
That’s exactly why there will be few if any substantial rate hikes for the forseeable future, regardless of Powell and Yellen’s current noises. Even slight hikes would bring down the entire house of cards. They have finally painted themselves into a corner with their massive spending and borrowing. The only alternative to endless, unsustainable inflation is a complete economic collapse triggered by rate hikes that will make debts even more unpayable than they already. Or global defaults, which is basically the same thing on a faster time scale.
Further up the Producer Price Pipeline, Inflation Rages at over 20%, Heading for Consumers

A TRUMP/DESANTIS administration could certainly fix a sizable portion of the problem. We need to keep working on cleaning up our elections in time for next year and beyond.
Dream on, Josh.
Check spelling and help me understand:
Kashari or Kashkari?
Its both ways in article.
I like Kashkari (CashCarry) and believe its a CIA cover name.
Just like Peter Stroke (masterbation)
We’ll see ; )
A Borg Observation
Looking at a list of the top ten foods with the highest price hikes, something jumped out at us:
The foods getting more expensive tend to be high-protein, significant sources of vitamins & minerals, and high saturated fat content: the very things required for a healthy well-balanced diet (yes, moderate amounts of saturated fat are good for you). The foods showing the lowest increases (so far) are comprised mostly of simple carbs like veggie-based faux-meat, starches and sugars, i.e. junk food).
The following foods provide the greatest amount of nutrients, vitamins and minerals are going up in price the most:
Red meat, fish, chicken (protein, iron, amino acids)
Bacon & sausage (protein, sat. fats)
Eggs (calcium, vitamin B complex, biotin, pantothenic acid, choline, selenium, riboflavin, iodine)
Real butter (essential sat. fats)
Whole milk (essential sat. fats, vitamin D, A, calcium)
Fruits & veggies rich in vitamins C, A, and many essential minerals.
If this were simply inflationary price pressure, one would expect the price of all foods to increase at pretty much the same rate over time. But that’s not what we’re seeing here, why? There may be a logical economics-based explanation; perhaps growing / processing these foods is more energy-intensive (i.e., more costly), but we suspect something more sinister is afoot.
DANGER, DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!!! We are entering Phase One of the great Food Reset! If the Coof doesn’t get you, systemic starvation certainly will. Phase One is the radical reduction of the consumption of essential dietary protein, saturated fat, vitamins and minerals. And the low-income amongst us will be the first to be hit. What better way to weaken everyone’s immune system than to throttle back on essential vitamins like A, E, and C. Now lower intake of iron and amino acids to further enhance overall physical weakness, keeping people weak and tired all the time.
Starches like bread, rice and potatoes will fill your bellies; sugars will give you temporary energy; alcohol will keep you dumb and happy; smoking dope will make you chill and feel so smart. Excess consumption of simple carbohydrates like sugar & alcohol lead to Insulin resistance, Type II Diabetes, systemic obesity; all are an underlying causes of inflammation and immune system stress, and have been identified as major risk factors for getting the Coof.
Some of us may turn more and more to food supplements to offset these nutritional deficiencies — sorry, won’t work. Have you checked the price of some of this stuff at the local Walgreen’s? And as the demand for supplements picks up, expect shortages here as well. Supplements are no substitute for real food! Need more vitamin C? Eat an apple, drink lots of low-sugar orange juice. Remember: if the FDA crime syndicate can ban the use of Ivermectin and HDC, they can ban over-the-counter vitamins and other supplements.
Borg Advice: keep one thing in mind: this rampant inflation is not merely the result of govt. fiscal irresponsibility, it was deliberately created as a tool for driving Americans towards a specific social goal — they’re herding the cattle to the trucks.
“Need more vitamin C?”
I’ve watched a white pine tree grow in my back yard to about 75 feet, over the last30 years.
Just found out last week that pine needle tea is vitamin-rich, helps battle colds and flus, and has numerous physiological benefits.
pine needles are sold on the internet for exorbitant prices.
The toxic white males who founded this country knew the nutritional value of evergreens- I’ve had Ben Franklin’s beer and its great–http://brewery.org/cm3/recs/13_12.html
Euell Gibbons used to eat pine trees, IIRC.
Commercially grown produce is almost null and void of vitamins and nutrients because vitamins and nutrients begin to infuse into the food once it starts ripening. That’s how that works. Commercially grown food is picked long before it ripens so it doesn’t rot before it gets to market. That’s a fact, Jack. Supplementation is critical. I won’t even go into the fact that the soil has been depleted of essential nutrients due to over farming. Supplementation. Buy produce and meat from local farmers and farmers markets. Grow your own food. Stay away from pharmaceuticals. Learn natural remedies for common maladies. Pine needles guy is on the right track. Knowledge is power.
Remind me again .. the ‘FED’ isn’t government … right? We can disestablish ’em?
Back when Dr. Ron Paul was running for President, there were lots of rallies where people were shouting “End the Fed.” Congress created it, so Congress could put an end to it, but they won’t because they are puppet whores. Also, in Bill Still’s excellent documentary about the Federal Reserve, The Money Masters (highly recommend), toward the end, he said that most in Congress do not even understand our monetary system. So,if they don’t understand it, there’s no way they know what to do about it or how to fix things. I think former Congressman Dr. Ron Paul is the only one who truly understood our privately controlled debt-based monetary system and how the Federal Reserve really worked. So that means Rand Paul must know, but he says nothing. Bill Still also made a documentary “The Secrets of Oz” which was supposed to get into solutions and how to fix the monetary system (I watched it many years ago, so I can’t remember the specifics).
All I know is that we need a new monetary system before the central bankers try to force the American people into their new digital currency/transaction system–we must say NO to that because that will be the end of freedom. Unfortunately, the whores in Congress have already introduced “Banking for All” acts in the House and Senate (obviously written by the Federal Reserve),which calls on the private bankers at the Federal Reserve to set up digital wallets for every citizen. Financial expert, Lynnette Zang says that this is one of the steps in the transition from cash to digital (cashless society) as outlined by the IMF. I don’t believe they have passed those bills yet. I think the central bankers plan on destroying the dollar to force us into their new system. If they collapse the dollar, people will be desperate, and if they are told there is money in their digital wallet with the Federal Reserve, many will willingly walk into that trap.
Didn’t Christ drive the money changer Pharisees out of the Temple? Why can’t we do the same? Why can’t “our” Congress disband it, and switch over to a Silver/Gold standard?
Digital currency would be the final nail in the coffin.
And they want to turn over our bank funds to the Federal Reserve; like how will that work out?
I find it telling in the overall picture that Neel Kashkari and his CBS interviewer know each other well enough for him to be able to mention in passing that both he and she have very young children. I dare say that level of familiarity would not exist between either of them and any counterpart of theirs on the other side of the political spectrum.
While that may seem unimportant, I think it speaks to the disconnect between the elites who currently control our government and the rest of America they consider to be in need of being controlled.
It is time for Americans to begin taking to the streets, if necessary banging pots and pans or massing in huge numbers as has been done several times in Argentina. It will take some time for the pressure to build on Poopy Pants and the Round-heeled Mongrel to resign, and by that time the party of satanism, socialism and sodomy may have been destroyed in the midterm election, so resignation properly timed would bring a Republican administration to power. Obviously, everyone should get gold and silver but this is particularly important for European-Americans, who are not just slated for immiseration in the Great Reset bur targeted for genocidal extermination and replacement by a brown lumpenproletariat in the Great Replacement (Coudenhove-Kalergi plan).
do I understand the letter to say paint is going up? and the chemist writes about acids and soaps? should I stock up on dish and laundry detergent, clorox, amonia, hand clenser, lemon juice, peroxide, asperin, antihistamine, nyquil
are you all getting chickens? goats? I’d like to but the racoons and cougar are thick here.
what else should I buy now? anybody want to make a list?
It’s a no go on chickens and goats in my subdivision, so here is my list:
I have stocked up on cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, shampoo, bars of soap, liquid hand soap, personal care products, first aid supplies, vitamins & supplements, paper products and pet supplies. These are items that have a long shelf life.
For foods, I have canned veggies (low sodium if possible), rice, beans, pasta, instant potatoes, tomato products, spices, sugar, flour, chicken broth and vinegar (for cooking and cleaning). It kills me to buy some of these, because we try to follow a low carb lifestyle. I have loaded my standalone freezer with butter, ground beef and chicken. I have tried to avoid processed junk foods because they take precious space in my freezer and my pantry. Another Treeper suggested powdered eggs, but I have not bought yet. Also, if you have a food dehydrator (I don’t), you can make jerky and dried fruit. I also have protein shakes on hand. I do vacuum seal my meats, and use my crockpot for a lot of dinners, as slow cooking can really help make tougher cuts of meats softer.
There are a lot of older posts with a lot of great ideas, and maybe Sundance can start a new thread, as it now seems we are in crunch time.
–chickens in hardware cloth cubes are impervious to predation. Build frames from 2x4s, tie with hurricane straps and screw in with 4″ deck screws. I use large fence staples to attach the hardware cloth to the wooden frames. I bury the frames 1′ in the ground. Predators can’t move the cubes and can’t bite, claw, dig, etc. into the chicken pen. I use old plastic garden sheds for chicken houses where I lock them in at night. There are no windows and locked in, there is no way for predators to enter.
–get a pitcher pump
–pressure cookers are great, you can preserve your harvest on a wood stove if they cut your electricity.
–prepare to live 19th century style. I have oil lamps, plenty of oil, pitcher pump, alternate non-electric, non-wood heat source and a means to block my windows so no light leaks.
–they will plunge you into darkness and cold (and heat) and try to deprive you of food and water. Prepare your headspace and then your battlespace. Knowing what they are willing to do and have telegraphed that they WILL do (kill most of the humans on Earth) puts you in the best place to know what preps you need to make for your particular situation.
–Please do not rely on bunkers of diesel or propane or solar arrays to power your home if you are taken off the grid. Please, just don’t. You will be telling every bad actor out there where you are and yelling “Come and get it!” once the SHTF. Generators are LOUD in the silence. Solar is BRIGHT. Please, for your safety and the safety of your family, learn other alternatives.
Best of luck.
Here’s a start:
SALT (lots – meat preservation is #1 reason)
Water filtration
Chickens for sure (I have 4 dozen and several roosters)
Vitamin C, the B’s, D3, zinc, senenium, iodine, and magnesium.. Cook with cast iron to get natural iron.
Food food food
More food
Hygiene
Soap
Bleach and other cleaners
TP
OTC medications
More food
A wood stove
Based on what he said, most household soaps, detergents, and paints will go up. Clorox is made of some of the same ingredients as soap, so I imagine it will go up too. I don’t know about the meds. Lemons, yep, like all other foods. You want chickens and a good garden, at least. Food could become hard to obtain. Chickenwire or cyclone fencing keeps out coons, you can probably get it used for cheap if you’re resourceful. Even a small dog, or a couple, can make a cougar decide to keep moving unless he’s really hungry.
RESHORE our vital supply chains to cut Manufactured-Product Inflation:
• make America Manufacturing Independent and end our shortages of goods,
• make America Metals & Minerals Independent with access to federal lands,
• make America Semiconductor Independent with domestic production for defense, technology, electric grids, communication, transportation, automation and electronics,
• reemploy American workers rather than paying them not to work,
• prevent Import price hikes that spike Inflation and loot American families’ savings,
• restore America’s Export Economy with Trade Surpluses that accelerate GDP growth,
• make America an Investment Magnet with cuts to Capital Gains Taxes, and
• reshore China Investments to fund America’s Reindustrialization with Tariffs on China for Covid & IP Theft damages and bans against American Institutions to invest in Chinese entities subject to CCP control.
The beatings will continue until morale improves..
LEVERAGE America’s Energy & Agriculture Independence to cut Food & Energy Inflation, which our Federal Government EXCLUDES from the CPI:
• CUT EXPORTS of Energy by 20% per MONTH until ALL USA Domestic Energy and Refinery-Product prices fall back to pre-Pandemic levels.
• CUT EXPORTS of Food & Agriculture Products by 20% per MONTH until ALL USA Domestic Energy prices fall back to pre-Pandemic levels.
• CUT Exports to ChYna FIRST.
• FORCE Producers to CHOOSE whether to abandon their hikes in Domestic prices that loot American Incomes, and whether to raise Export prices to fund investments in expanded production, increased productivity and their oligopoly margins.
• RESTORE Exports to Countries with the lowest Tariffs on ALL USA Exports FIRST.
LEVERAGE America’s Capitalist-Market Power to cut Big Pharma Inflation of Covid Costs and Drug Prices:
• APPROVE IMMEDIATE GENERIC Domestic Manufacturing of any POTENTIAL THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT or PREVENTATIVE of Covid (e.g., Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin … no proof of efficacy required during a pandemic or during any use of emergency powers), for which any level of government or any public/private companies or institutions have constrained availability/supply, or limited/restricted purchases, or for which Federally-Subsidized entities (to include Medicaid, Medicare, VA and any public/private Institutions) pay more than the Lowest Prices on the Planet.
• APPROVE IMMEDIATE GENERIC Domestic Manufacturing of any DRUG for which Federally-Subsidized entities, to include Medicaid, Medicare, VA and any public/private companies or institutions, pay more than the Lowest Prices on the Planet.
This would so help “donut hole” seniors like Mom. Eliquis is essential as she has A-fib, but she is seriously thinking about abandoning it as she can no longer afford it.
LEVERAGE America’s Capitalist-Market Power to cut “Runaway Inflation” of Big Tech Censorship and Defamation of American Citizens:
• APPROVE IMMEDIATE REPLICATION of Patent-Protected Features of TECHNOLOGY PLATFORMS and SERVICES (similar to approval of GENERICS above) that host any Apps or Features that (1) infringe upon, limit or suppress full exercise of American Citizens’ Constitutional Rights (e.g., Freedoms of Speech [Communication & Thought], Press [Journalism & Publication], etc.) or (2) propagate or publish defamatory materials against American Citizens while claiming “Section 230” Press Protections against Libel Lawsuits for damages.

This is what’s causing the inflation…
https://goingdirect.solari.com/summary-going-direct-reset/
Note the far right side of the graph. It represents the fed pumping money directly into corporations, bypassing the treasury. The fed prints money, pumps it directly into the retail monetary market, and BOOM, instant inflation. This is the start of the so-called “Going Direct” plan of Blackrock voted on by the G7 central bankers on 8/22/19, and it will end with all private accounts — yours and mine included — “going direct” through the central banks, over which they will have absolute, total control. Unless, of course, we say “NO” very soon.
NBC’s Stephanie Ruhle Says Americans Should Stop Complaining About Inflation Because They Can Easily Afford to Pay More

There say 33% will always vote Democrat regardless.
However anyone with half a brain already has figured out that the current wickedness in control is striving to destroy everything that is good, fair and honest.
It’s okay,
but really I don’t need anyone to confirm what I can see for myself,
I already know the “dire” circumstances…
It will profit me very little to fixate or wallow in it.
Or to have it continually brought to my attention.
I know none of this gonna ever change until the source is removed.
Good things happening in Florida every single day, no I’m not a resident but I could be.
Let’s give this man a star for telling the truth!
I do not work for the federal reserve, but …
If you bring down the cost of energy, taxes, stop government spending and autmate manufacturing; in a free market, inflation will drop
rising prices , look for 28% cost increase on all products. If you spend 400 dollars per month on food- need$512 dollars
Neel Kashkari was amazing in “The Mummy” films with Brandon Frazier. I never knew he was such a gifted actor in addition to his work at the Federal Reserve. Truly, a man of many talents.
