A comprehensively incompetent U.S. Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, has the audacity to say that Biden’s administration has no responsibility for gas prices likely to reach $4/gal, and Americans this year are almost certain to pay historic amounts for home heating oil and natural gas.
Everything in this soundbite from her interview with CNN is stunningly false, manipulative and misleading. The U.S. has an abundant amount of energy resources, likely more oil than all other OPEC countries combined in Alaska alone. The issue is a current administration that refuses to extract oil and natural gas because they are purposefully and intentionally intent on destroying the U.S. economy under the guise of climate change.
Granholm admits that gasoline is likely to go beyond $4/gal in the national average, and home heating costs are almost certain to crush Americans this year. Infuriating to see such willful stupidity go unchallenged. WATCH:
So what can a U.S. President and administration specifically do?
We have abundant U.S. energy resources. Quite literally the strongest in the entire world.
- Permit the use of preexisting approved leases in ANWAR (Alaska) to put more volume into the Alaskan oil pipeline that is severely underutilized.
- Finish the Dakota access pipeline.
- Reapprove the preexisting energy leases in New Mexico, Arizona, NE Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.
- Retract the stoppage of the Keystone pipeline to permit efficient oil transport shipments from Canada.
- Stop blocking the expansion of coastal oil refineries in Texas, Louisiana and Alabama (regulatory issue), as well as Northwest, Northeast and Southeast Seaboard.
- Continue to develop natural gas as a clean burning fuel.
- Drive Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as an export.
None of this requires any approval from OPEC. Strategically, the all of the above approach enhances U.S. national security and diminishes the influence of Russia, China and Iran. Within six months of the above, gasoline will plummet.

A few comments about Alaska’s energy resources. 1/4 of the world’s coal. Yes, that’s right. 25%. 50 billion barrels of oil in West Sak and Ugnu. All it would take to produce it is say a few trillion cubic feet of carbon dioxide. Which would then be sequestered in the ground for millions of years, never to cause global warming again. Natural gas on the North Slope, 50 trillion cubic feet just in Prudhoe Bay. Add in coal bed methane and gas hydrates, along with other conventional gas fields, it’s well in excess of 1000 trillion cubic feet. Billions of barrels of oil offshore. Billions in the NPRA. For example there is believed to be a multi billion barrel field under Teshepuk Lake. Then there is ANWAR. There was a well drilled there. The results of which are the best kept secret ever. Those who worked on it would discuss it even under heavy influence of alcohol and peer pressure.
Right now the pipeline could easily handle another million barrels per day
So there is lots that could be done. But I doubt these fools could even find Alaska on a map, let alone spell it

When talking oil reserves BILLIONS 1 Billion barrels of oil would last about 55 days. Energy extraction has a EROI. Energy returned on investment. How much will it cost to extract that oil per barrel. You list a myriad of expensive things to do after that. How much will that add to the extraction cost. Then there is the transportation cost. The quality of that oil is what. Oil is not OIL
What the Saudis are pumping now is SOUR has lots of sulfur in it LOTS and there are mountains of sulfur that can be seen from Air when flying over.
Sour is hard to turn into gasoline. Another cost of EROI to be added, and getting that GASOLINE to the pumps each and every day.

I’ve gotta say, this makes me sick.
Several of these northern sates w/ coooold winters have high heating costs, even in the “best” of times. (Upstate N.Y. especially comes to mind).
People are going to be hurting at best, freezing to death at worst.
And these Politicians make me sick.
Hope there’ll be more people investing in wood stoves and blankets/plastic to cover their windows to get ahead of this.
And if they’re new to woodstoves, hopefully they’ll make sure their chimney’s clean *before* they start a fire.
What a disgusting, amoral mess this Admin. is.
About 10 to 15 years ago, they had corn kernels stoves/furnace. Took about 1 bushel of shelled corn per day. Was relatively effort from what I recall.
She’s had plastic surgery. She looks better than she used to. Which is not saying much.

In England and Europe, their insistence on solar and windmills has driven up the cost of household energy and heating to the point many cannot afford it, particularly the elderly on fixed incomes.
So they live in their houses at near-freezing temperatures
Pointman wrote an eloquent essay about his volunteer efforts tending to elderly who are freezing to death in their own homes because they can’t afford their inflated heating bills / energy costs that result from Britain / Europe putting all their eggs in the “renewables” basket. So they leave their heat off or way down or get cut off for non-payment

I piss people off, when they complain to me while I am delivering gas.

I figured this kind of crap was coming from this illegitimate administration, so, in preparation, I signed a price cap contract with my heating oil company last spring for 300 gallons. I should be ok at least for this heating season.
