There is a great deal of political media time devoted to the Virginia gubernatorial election that takes place next week. There is also a major disconnect in the analysis of Virginia politics and what takes place there, so it’s worth pausing and reminding everyone about its unique status.
When an event happens in New York City, the scale of media coverage is so disproportionate to the issue it has historically been laughable. The media are centered in NYC, so the media focus on events in NYC as if the rest of the country cares. We don’t. A waterline break in a NYC subway station gets the scale of national media coverage as if Hoover dam collapsed; most Americans just roll their eyes.
However, because of the proximity to Washington DC, and because of where almost all the federal workers inside the DC system live, that same scale of skewed emphasis is also evident in Virginia when it comes to anything political.
Virginia politics is where the UniParty swamp creatures argue among themselves. In Virginia the elites in the DNC club debate their high-brow outlooks with the elites in the RNC club. Virginia is where the traditional DC political establishment of both clubs gather socially to pontificate about their importance in the world of everything political.
Is the whole state like this? No. However, the DC beltway is so influential and so populous the other parts of the state are essentially irrelevant to election outcomes.
As the U.S. federal government grew, so too did the swamp physically expand to make room for all the high-minded bureaucrats who run the machine. Northern and Eastern Virginia were taken over and absorbed into the swamp, the rest of Virginia was cast into the role of Oliver asking for a bit more soup.
When Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were talking about smelly WalMart people, they were really just encapsulating the reality that exists in Virginia, elites -vs- proles, they were not lying; they just said the accepted quiet part out loud and a lot more people saw it, that’s all.
What passes for an acceptable Republican in Virginia is the Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney and John McCain brands. There is almost no difference between an establishment Republican and an establishment Democrat in this region. They eat together, hang out together, party together and generally live their best swamp life together. As a result, their election debates are usually on nuanced cultural issues.
In the widely covered current governors race, the difference between former governor Terry McAuliffe (Democrat) and first-time Republican candidate Glen Youngkin, is very small. The clubs keep it that way; and no, they do not care about your opinion. Anyone who challenges the internecine club system in Virginia will quickly see themselves removed, and the club(s) will modify the party rules to avoid any further encroachment.
Democrat Terry McAuliffe messed things up for his club when he said parents should not be able to influence what happens in their children’s schools. Republican Glen Youngkin seized on that opportunity to enhance his club….. and as usual, that’s now the central focal point of the Virginia race.
Notice, neither candidate talks much about forced vaccines, workers losing their jobs over vaccines, vaccine passports, tax punishments, job losses or inflation, because the club leaders have instructed the club candidates to chew the fat on an educational and cultural issue they deem to carry national importance. Additionally, notice how Youngkin will not talk positively about Donald Trump and has not wanted any support whatsoever from Trump because his consultants believe the MAGA mindset is too controversial for the electorate.
You may remember a similar scenario in 2014 when Tom Cotton was running for the Senate in Arkansas and the GOeP club (writ large) told Cotton to tone himself down to a light pastel in order to appeal to “moderate” and “women” voters. Unlike Youngkin, Tom Cotton refused the consultant advice and went full wolverine against the democrat incumbent Mark Pryor. Throughout the race club pollsters and DNC media said the Arkansas race was tight and Cotton would likely lose if he kept being aggressive and pro-constitution (a Tea Party theme) in his campaign. On election night, Cotton won by 17 points.
This milquetoast approach to elections is where the terms “suburban women’s vote” or “suburban soccer moms” comes back into play, as both clubs debate which club has better parenting skills. Meanwhile, the political consultants are paid to figure out which catch-phrase has the best cultural acceptance rate. Watching this level of political theater is almost as painful as being forced to watch CNN cover a blown water main in New York City, because inevitably we are going to hear the same tired narrative from the Republican pundit class…. “This has national implications.” No, no it doesn’t.
Vote for Youngkin because at least you’ll have a fighting chance and he’s not a communist. But don’t consider a state-wide race in Virginia, fraught with nuanced shades of purple, to be a referendum on how the nation feels as a whole. In Virginia the grassroots divisions are bold, but the party club divisions are almost invisible.
The Virginia Governor’s race is akin to two lovers debating whether Mercedes or BMW will be their next SUV….
…..And that is exactly why RNC President Ronna McDaniel is willing leave the spa a little early, put down her white wine spritzer, walk away from the crustless triangle sandwich buffet and give everyone her opinion on what really matters to American voters.
This would be funny if it weren’t so sad.
Shakespeare was more on point than I ever imagined.
Yup. The Federal govt, and most state government, is a cancer.
good seeing you!
TY! Likewise!
{{{WAVING!}}} ?
Hiya, Puddy! ?
It’s also quite true, sadly and annoyingly.
“Words are cheap” and the political class has mastered the words to attract their respective constituencies. Their actions often do not reflect their pretty words and promises.
Trump was unique in that he did mean his words and made good on most of his promises.
Yeah but I still help but chuckle out loud at, “living their best swamplife!”
Good piece Sundance. Like I said once, if New York get 3 inches of snow, its called a Nordeasterner, and the trains quit running and how can I get to my tea party and extend my pinky? And who is going to come over and coiffe my powdered wig? Full blown crisis!
In Wisconsin, when we get 20 inches, it makes zero headlines, we shovel and plow ourselves out and head to the tavern for beer, pig’s feet and sloppy Joes.
There’s the word “solipsism.”
I like Sloppy Joes.
When it comes to the folks I like to hang out with, give me people from Wisconsin every day of the week. Folks from New Yawk have never been enjoyable for me.
Paul Ryan is from Wisconsin, Donald Trump is from New York. Jus’ sayin’
Yup. Many summers in Minnesota, along with the thunderstorms, we would get 100+ MPH straight line winds that would last for hours, sometimes for 3-4 nights in a row, and they were never called hurricanes. They were called weather.
Or call it Climate change.
It’s much worse in Virginia. Thanks to the mountains on the west, most of Virginia sees little snow accumulation as the mountains get it all. But when they see just a snowflake they slow down to 25 on the roads, schools close and they all go to the supermarkets to empty the shelves of milk and bread only to get an inch or two of snow. The only time Virginia gets heavy snow is when the system comes up from the Carolinas and that’s rare. I’m purposely leaving out northern Virginia since they’ve an over abundance of snowflakes year round.
Theres no such thing as Republicans anymore. They are Democrats masquerading as Republican. If they take back the House and Senate..and thats a big IF you will see them do what they did last time- Nothing.
Mike, you are correct. There are only UniParty members and wannabes UniParty members.
Plus a sprinkling of Patriots, Small sprinkling.
Mike, yes. But I wonder how long they were uniparty and we, most of us, were fooled or just ignored it. We look at the past through rose-coilored glasses.
Really LOOK at what happened in 1964; the RNC colluded with Dems, the IC (CIA and FBI) and the media, to torpedo Goldwaters campaign, when (like PDJT) they were unable to prevent him getting the nomination.
The IC bugged his airplane, to get “inside info” on his ‘strategy sessions’, they then fed that info to a reporter, who asked Barry the ultimate “gotcha” question, KNOWING what his answer would be.
They then produced the most devastating political ad ever produced; “Daisy”, a 30 second ad, only aired ONE TIME, and it destroyed Goldwaters (until then) freighttrain campaign.
So, “How long”? At least since 1964. Goldwater’s position was you fight a war to WIN it, or you don’t engage.
They assasinated Kennedy, and torpedoed Goldwater, to “bring us” Vietnam war, and wasn’t THAT a great experience?
Dutchman…it goes back to Ike warning about the military industrial complex.
1530…I didn’t catch on to how bad it was until Trump drove them crazy enough to rip off their own carefully constructed masks. Now we know who they are
I know I did. But then Trump came along. I thought most Republicans were fairly pro-America but am shocked at what’s happened. McCarthy, who “represents” central valley CA ag and oil, has a green new deal. It wasn’t until I started reading CTH that I understood Big Oil and Big Ag. We had a lot of family farms and family oil companies but they’ve been eaten up over the years. Like every business, small neighborhood grocery stores are now Dollar Generals or Family Dollar and the neighborhood (usually older homes) takes a nosedive overnight. Small pharmacies are Walgreens or CVS. Doctors don’t have their own practices, dentists, veterinarians, etc. get swallowed up – at first you don’t notice because they keep their name on the practice but before long you notice a bunch of new faces and the old are gone. This corporatization of America has been going on for a long time.
When I see a Mom and Pop, I support them. Might be more expensive in the short run but it’s killing us now. Beware the shiny new object. (Amazon)
So why are so many on our side still playing the game as though the Republicans are OUR TEAM?
“Oh we have to go out and save Virginia by voting for Glen Youngkin to stop the liberal Terry McAuliffe agenda.”
Not me.
… because Mccauliffe can do far more damage faster than Youngkin… and he will. View it as buying a little time.
Youngkin will stop CRT for a few years… and likely not permit mandated ” vaccine” injectiond for kids ages 5-11.
We don’t have a plan. We don’t have leaders. So, we do need to buy some time.
Does anything make you believe we will have a plan or leaders? Not trying to quibble. Just a reality check.
Yes… eventually we will.
Human nature, exploited. The whole “root for the home team phenominom, ..THEY fully take advantage of Human nature.
Like keeping us home and paying more than if people worked. Until the population is largely either scared or lazy. The damn masks are all over the place in CA -Still! It’s all so clearly not and never was about a virus that it is astounding. And our young people, can you imagine? We can’t allow them to be trained to crouch in fear! Land of the free, home of the brave. Not so much where I live.
These politicians and public health and media are crazy criminals and must be fought at every opportunity.
Exactly right Mike. With the exception of a very few, EVERY politician on both sides is being paid handsomely to help usher in Communism. The sickening part is most of the loot is coming from tax paying people like you and I. The system is so rigged that they are all having a good, belly aching laugh at us, while they kill us with our our own sweat and blood.
The Republican wing of the Democrat party. Two sides of the same coin. A plugged nickel.
Repubs are just the right wing of the DC buzzard
Seriously. I’ve never been LESS interested in “taking back the House” in my entire life. I don’t care what they do any more. They are ALL corrupt. I want nothing to do with the Republicans any more. While January 6th attendees rot in jail for committing NO CRIME and none of the sickening politburo ever go to jail for committing nothing less than treason (Comey, McCabe, Clinton, The Lovers, PENCE, etc etc etc) by stealing an election, then they can spare me. I care not what they do. I pray a giant cosmic event rids us of our politicians so we never have to hear from them again.
So crustless cucumber sandwiches make you fat as h–l.
Huh, I had no idea. ?♀️
I don’t mind a little chunk.
I’ll pass. Cucumbers give me gas.
I like crust. Anyone that dosnt is not my friend. Only Communists like the gooey center.
The Dems have nothing to fear so long as they have Dominion to switch the necessary number of votes. They certainly don’t fear the Republicans actually representing their constituent’s concerns and pushing through legitimate forensic audits to look into it.
They probably flip a coin.
That’s exactly what they do. They get together and decide whose turn it is to run the country (into the ground).
True… but the political class has been quite adept at … illusion for decades. They decide among themselves who will “win.”
VA has had 2 Dem Governors; its time for an “acceptable” R. It’s pretty volatile in VA, e.g., Loudoun County school nightmares we have read about.
Not sure Youngkin will “win” because Biden is campaigning with McCaulliffe and the WH is “helping” with strategy which I find odd UNLESS it has been pre-determined that McCaulliffe will “win” and Biden wants to be involved so he can use that Dem win as a reflection on himself: “see, the people really do support my/Dem agenda. I helped McCaulliffe win.”
In reality, Younkin would win by a lot. Most Americans want to put the reigns on the out of control Dem agenda. The IRS with access to everyone’s checking accounts? CRT? Boys in skirts raping teen girls in the girls school bathroom? H— no.
Hullo! Didn’t you notice, while they used Dominion to steal the Presidency, the Senate lost JUST enough seats (for Republicon wing of Uniparty) to switch majority, and House BARELY enough.
Why didn’t they just use Dominion to give Dems a 60 vote majority in the Senate, and huge majority in the House?
LOOK at Graham and McConnells #, in the run-up tp 2020. They STOLE the election; its NOT R vs D, its Uniparty vs Maga, and Uniparty counts the votes.
Yep, and they used Covid to get them there.
It’s not the votes, it’s who counts the votes.
It’s not the bodies, it’s who counts the bodies
Thanks. Great column. Its frustrating to read other Right wing pundits obsess about this nothingburger of a race. I suppose a loss will send a signal that Biden and the D’s are on the skids, but otherwise who cares? Youngkin will change nothing, and 4 years from now a D will replace him and continue the march to the Left. I feel sorry for the Right wingers in VA, but there only chance is to form a 3rd Party. Continueing to vote for Romney lite won’t get them anywhere.
sundance’s analysis is unique. I have a feeling many read this post. I hope Team Trump does.
I pray Team Trump gets off the Republican bandwagon. I was over the top for Trump and his policies. As long as he continues to help the Republicans… meh. I mean, I get it from a “business perspective” – the Republicans have the “political infrastructure” and we Americans are pretty damn loyal, especially to Trump, but Trump is asking us to work with the Republicans and I’m done with them. Speaking as a lifelong Republican: I am done with them.
I am sorry Team Trump has lost your vote.
80,000,000 votes minus one .
Excuse me while I wipe away a tear.
“Voting doesn’t matter”
You could be right, or you could be wrong.
But ,
If you sit home, you are playing into the Democrats hands.
Vote!
“only chance is to form a 3rd Party”
Or you could …
“ pray a giant cosmic event rids us of our politicians”
Or you could..
“Vote for Youngkin because at least you’ll have a fighting chance and he’s not a communist.”
But, at least the milquetoast GOP-er is not up Hillary’s ass as TA has always been.
McDaniel: “They know the Biden Administration’s policies caused it.”
And they know you and Fox News helped install Biden.
….and now let us shift our attention to griff jenkins in mexico, tagging along the caravan, headed for the border.
I peed myself beachbum31, I needed that one today. And tonight on The Sean Hannity show I will have Senator Lindsey Graham discussing his recent trip to the border.
What process is required to retire McDaniels?
Sundance …can I vote 1000 times for this one?
Uniparty! Know it, learn it, destroy it. That’s our mission.
Oh, as long as Dominion is in play the swamp will decide these things. They can’t have any smelly Wal-Mart people influencing elections with their silly votes, after all they know what’s best for us/them.
To get rid of Democrats you have to first remove Republicans.
And to remove Republicons, you first have to remove the MACHINES. Smash them with axes, or sledghammers, its the only way.
Otherwise there is no way elections are going to wrest the power away from the Uniparty.
To get rid of Democrats you have to first
removeadd MEGA Republicans.Ex-Virginian, worried that Kentucky is headed down the same road.
Yep and SC and TN
well no matter how good they all feel about themselves…
lisa page is still a cheap slut, and the whole of the rest of us all know it!
touche’
<…lisa page is still a cheap slut>
And ignorant! 🙂
Not sure why anyone thinks a non-democrat can win when nothing had been corrected with elections.
As if on cue….
lol
Yep, BUT THEY WORKED REALLY HARD for the republican party, right???????
And they are not alone. The republican party is FULL of Flake’s and McCain’s……
God help us!
she should be sent as ambassador to ANTARCTICA…
What do you have against Antarctica? My late, oldest brother spent a year there in 1956-57 with the International Geophysical Year….and I know exactly what his opinion of the McCain clan was…many years ago.
I believe this is what we call “A Tell”.
Here in Washington state our so called Republican Sec. of state. Kim Wyman is resigning to take a position in the Biden administration. She’s been a big defender of mail in ballots and critical of challenges to the 2020 election.
Forgot to add. Kim accepting a new role as the Senior Election Security Lead for CISA. (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
Like in VA 4 yrs ago when it looked like Corey Stewart was about to defeat Gillespie for Gov, Frank Wagner joined the fray. Ralph Northam (Governor Blackface) defeated Gillespie and Wagner got a job in Blackface’s administration
Ambassador to Turkey! His sell-out paid off.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has ordered 10 ambassadors, including those from the US, Germany and France, be declared persona non grata.
Addressing a crowd in Eskisehir on Saturday, Mr Erdogan said the ambassadors “cannot dare to come to the Turkish foreign ministry and give orders”.

Well, he daddy did own a beer distributorship. That makes her qualified.
Hmm. I guess the question will become – how much damage can they do in those positions versus back here in the US?
I have no idea. Just wondering.
Great job! You just discouraged your readers from voting in Virginia. FYI… Youngkin adamantly opposes vaccine mandates. He said so in the debates and he said it to my face when I asked him at an event I attended. He also talks about inflation and plans to get rid of the grocery tax. Why would you put up an article like this one week before the election? You don’t even live in Virginia. This is our last chance to turn Virginia red and we have three excellent candidates. If you live in Virginia as I have my whole life, get out and vote red in all local and statewide races.
and you just added some beans upon the hill.
You actually believe Youngkin? See if you can wrap your head around this: these candidates wouldn’t be representing the party of Lincoln if they haven’t come up through a system that approved the message. Youngkin will lie lik Paul Ryan,Mitch McConnell and all other weakling RINO S. They lack courage and very seldom represent the base. FJB.
You will NEVER make a difference. The article didn’t say don’t vote. Just that those your voting for sell what overlords tell them. It’s not about leadership but what to think not how to think.
Not to debate individual choice for a virus with a 99% survival. Needlessly putting people at risk. Getting fired for refusing the jab. Instead talk about a thing but not the thing of freedom of choice.
It all veneer politics as the new opium of the masses.
Politicians say lots of things, like avoiding whether or not Biden is legit. . . until they do say he is legit.
That appears to be Glenn Youngkin before. . . then after securing the nomination for governor.
So, ask yourself, is he a shapeshifter or just a run-of-the-mill politician?
Add to that Trump endorsed Youngkin twice.
Thank you.
So Virginians are not able to choose to vote now?
If you don’t vote because of something somebody wrote, that’s on you. Not on the author. Good grief.
Obviously you didn’t read my comment very well.
Cuz most people are here only to complain.
Ann, no disrespect, but Sundance just stated what many of us in Virginia already know. It’s a friendly contest among equals at a country club. The VA GOP hasn’t been fighting mask mandates or business closures or any of the other psychotic policies of the Left, and Youngkin won’t either. There’ll be some excuse in the Theater of Failure.
I want the GOP in Va to know two things in this election: 1.) I vote. 2.) I no longer vote for you. So my wife and I are writing in a name. Several of my neighbors have expressed the same feeling.
<So my wife and I are writing in a name.>
+2 for McAuliffe in the spread.
I’ve lived in Virginia my whole life. This is my home and the Youngkin ticket is the best shot we’ve had in a long time. All three of the Republican candidates are top notch. You just as well write in McAuliffe because ultimately he will benefit from your write in vote.
Whiskey Sam…you are casting your votes for McAuliffe. Save the protest for local elections where the Dem is only so awful. This is what I intend to do. Donald Trump is going to get some votes for City Council next year. For governor, no. The stakes are too high. But I confess if I lived in KY or UT, and had to vote for Mitch or Mitt, Trump would get my vote. No Dem is worse than those bas*****
This kind of thinking is why we have such an entitled, feckless republican party. Because they’re not scared of losing their jobs. They can govern like tax-cutting Democrats, appoint terrible judges, ignore corruption (or participate) and allow the tentacles of the progressive left to creep further and further into our institutions… and then in election years make conservative noises about “stopping the liberal Biden/Harris agenda” and we go out and reward them with our vote.
If the Boehner-Ryan years didn’t show you what the GOP really is, then 2018 should have told you. If that didn’t do it, the Republican cooperation with the Democrats in rigging the vote should have clued you in.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Write-In isn’t a vote for McAuliffe. It’s a gesture, no matter how small or insignificant, to show the GOP that there are people who vote, whose votes you could win but for the fact that you have no governing agenda and sell out to the Democrats. If Everyone did what you’re doing, status quo. We continue inching further to the Left. If everyone did what I’m doing, the comfortable, consultant-class GOP is destroyed and we have an actual opposition party that looks like Pinochet on a Pale Horse.
EPISODE SIX – RESIST TYRANNY on Vimeo
Take the fight local first. We won’t get anywhere if we don’t start in our own backyard. Clearly. And it ain’t gonna be easy but we’re fully awake now. We have surrendered this country, time to claw it back. It feels too vast and overwhelming, but if you engage locally it’s manageable. I will say, it’s a bit harder because of “Covid”, but F it, we have to see it as a blessing because that’s what woke most of us all the way up. That, and Nov 3, and realizing how Covid and BLM were used and still are being used in Western societies.
Seriously,
“My wife and I are writing in a name.”
Wouldn’t it be easier and better to,
“ pray a giant cosmic event rids us of our politicians”
Oh I do that too…
Actually, it doesn’t matter Virginia has been cheating Dominion style for decades.
These political elites don’t think smelly Walmart people have enough sense to choose what’s best so they must do it for us.
However, it requires that they set up fraudulent voting apparatus by hiring third party contractors to handle all this for us.
They tell themselves it’s in the best interest of the entire nation.
Agree. This is not just about Youngkin. It’s the AG, the Lt. Guv, and the delegates. I’ve met my delegate-to-be, running against the incumbent. He’s certainly no establishment type. He’s a father who is sick of the crap that is going on and has the courage to step-up and run for office. The GOPe is alive and well in Virginia (which is why we have conventions now and not primaries) but I’ll be damned if having the Dems continuing to control the House of Delegate isn’t worth a good reason to get out and vote (the entire ticket!).
Amen.
Double amen
Ah, but did he say the 2020 election was BOGUS?
THIS seems to be the dividing line, for phony vs real MAGA candidates, at least to me.
For example, KariLake, candidate for Governor in Az, ON FILM said “If you think the 2020 election was legit, you oughta put down (Hunters) crack pipe!”
After Reagan, there were a whole bunch of up and coming politicians that called themselves “Reagan Republicans”; Romney, McStain, Rubio, Cruz among them.
The easiest way to blunt an insurgent political movement, is to have a bunch of posers, who CAMPAIGN and talk the talk, but are sellouts all along.
We saw it with Reagan, and the Tea Party, and we are seeing it with Trump.
So far, calling the 2020 election a fraud, SEEMS to be something the RINO, POSER wannabees choke before saying, but if they deem they NEED to, to get elected they will.
And then once elected, do NOTHING of substance, to correct election fraud, or pass bills which SOUND good, but actually make it EASIER to control the outcome.
Its the Republicon way.
Ann…many of us still remember the GOP candidates from 2011 through 2018 telling us all the things they would do if they won, and when they won, did none of them. That is all Sundance was saying. Vote for Youngkin but don’t expect him not to be a Republican, i.e. all hat and no cattle. I will stand in the rain all day to vote for him because he isn’t McAuliff, that is all I expect of him. If he were MAGA the GOP establishment would be AWOL like they were for Stewart
“I will stand in the rain all day to vote for him because he isn’t McAuliff, that is all I expect of him.”
Republican pols know this. This is why our party has no agenda, and does nothing to stop the onslaught of the progressive left. They laugh at us over drinks at cocktail parties with their democrat friends, even as we donate to their campaigns and vote for them like our lives depend on it.
I really don’t see how DC, in which people do not get to cast a vote for a federal election, is any different from VA at this point. Perhaps it’s time for an amendment?
Probably you were referring to DC not having representatives or senators. It does vote in presidential elections, though.
‘Since the enactment of the 23rd amendment to the Constitution in 1961, Washington DC has participated in 15 presidential elections. The amendment states that the district cannot have more electoral votes than the state with the smallest number of electors. Since then, it has been allocated three electoral votes in every presidential election.’ — Wikipedia
DC citizens vote in Presidential elections.
Well, I intend to vote for the republican in the hopes that he is against the Biden vaccine mandates. Its the only hope I have-the democrat wins and I lose my job because I won’t take the jab. Pray for us.
I asked Younkin at a rally and he told me he would get rid of the vaccine mandates.
For state workers but I’m not sure what can be done for private businesses.
Any State that uses computers to count ‘votes’ is completely compromised at this point.
The only legitimate vote We the People will accept going forward is; ID checked, double blind hand count paper ballots at the Precinct level. Everything else should be suspected immediately as fraud.
Thus all election officials in office via computers are just tyrants by definition.
Talk about living in a bubble!
I am convinced the worst thing that could happen to those people would be to remove their power, position and money and force them to live the Wal-Mart life like the majority of the blue-collar middle class people. I’m not sure they could survive.
Myself, I like the Wal-Mart crowd. I find they’re not particularly judgemental.
These dumb bitches voted center Left for 20 years in NoVA. Now their little darlings are being told white is wrong, and their daughters are being raped in the bathrooms by “trans-womyn”
It couldn’t possibly be more laughable. Couldn’t happen to nicer beltway bien pensant country club republicans.
Democrats always win close elections so based on that truism sadly McAuliffe will become Virginia’s next Governor.
Repulicans have won many close elections in Florida in the last 25 years or so: Govs, senators and presidents… look it up.
A nice article from up high. not much substance though. A lot of grass root activities going on including fighting dominion.. yes, Younghkin picked up on a great gaffe by the Clinton lackey and hopefully will ride it all the way. In the mean time we’re still Americans.
You know McAuliffe will win, they cheat is in.
Very possible, but not a given.
They are not acting like someone who has this in the bag.
Same thing with the Newsome recall, all smoke and mirrors
just like Goofytoothed Senior Slayer Murphy will be reinstalled in Nov
a predetermined outcome already bought and paid for.
Dominion.
I was thinking of donating $ to Youngkin, received a “desperate” email, BUT then read the WIN Red donation page and saw a BIG ol’ picture of he and Niki Haley and said, “No way, no how”, and exited the page. Realized then he must be akin to her and will no longer support weak kneed, spineless, spend-aholics who support nothing I believe in. Sadly they are both no different than McCauliffe.
On a side note, I live in NY and try to donate to those who stand for principles I believe in – Niki Haley is not a good endorsement!
I imagine your political donations are at a very manageable level.
She misses the big picture issue.
1) Americans don’t trust their government.
2) Americans fear their government.
3) Americans believe our institutions are broken – corrupted and incompetent.
4) We blame both parties.
Never forget Ronna’s middle name is Romney.
Was Ronna a lifetime appointment? WHY does she still hold that appointment? Does someone not namedc a Romney think she has done a good job?
Anyone really think McAuliffe going to lose?? Really??
No way. May be close but no way he loses.
Unless a true loaded red state, you can kiss winning good-bye.
I have NO faith voting will ever matter again.
Watch Tx and Fl soon to start turning…and WHEN…that’s it forever.
“I have NO faith voting will ever matter again.”
I like to be able to say,
“Don’t blame me. I voted for the Republican.”
I would feel hypocritical if I did anything less than cast a vote..
If it involves voting, it’s not an election. It’s a crime scene.
that is the most hysterically funny comment on an utter tragedy that i may have ever heard.?
Ronna reminds me of my sister in law whom I hate. I would still crawl over broken glass to vote for Glen Youngkin if I lived there.
Eh, Biden apparently got drugged up and wheeled out to do a campaign appearance for the Democrat. Translation: they’ve printed enough votes to secure a McAuliffe win, and will use that as “proof” of Biden’s coat tails.
It’s all for show, naturally, but Biden making an appearance means they think McAuliffe has it in the bag.
The Official Government Party always finds something for people to scream about as a distraction from what they are doing.
No way he loses…a joke to think he loses. Va has been blue for many yrs now and Northern Va controls the state. I agree, if Biden there, he knows there’s a W and the PRESS/MEDIA will shout, BIDEN TOOK HIM OVER the edge….as did BHO, et als.
So why bother at all….just go GALT.
The negativity although ones right, is really not productive or good for ones health.
Well, isn’t that sweet?
By the way, speaking of “smelly Walmart people”, I went there last night because it is open later, I usually try not to shop there but needed some things. But when I have gone, there are always people walking around in their fricking pajamas!
What the heck happened to standards and public decency? I’m sorry, I turn my nose up at that crap, too. Back in my mother’s day, or even back even when I was in high school, no one walked around like that.
And the drive-through in Mansfield, Ohio, late at night, green haired tattooed, pierced woman handing us our food. I guess dress code is completely gone. No more, “they’re not going to get a job looking like that”, either they go out of their way to hire these people or they are that desperate for help.
The economy is roaring along. Businesses are desperate for workers.
People shopping in their pajamas, green haired/tattooed/multiple pierced people, etc………all part of the destruction of the USA and West……breakdown of society and all the other ills that go with it…….a major triumph for the Commie Demoncrappers.
Wanting a decent society, less crime, morals, ethics, manners, dress codes, meritocracy, etc etc etc are White Supremacist
Frankly, I had not noticed. Thanks sundance “Notice, neither candidate talks much about forced vaccines, workers losing their jobs over vaccines, vaccine passports, tax punishments, job losses or inflation,..”
“What passes for an acceptable Republican in Virginia is the Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney and John McCain brands.”
“The Virginia Governor’s race is akin to two lovers debating whether Mercedes or BMW will be their next SUV….”
Most helpful in understanding what is going on. The fog lifts a bit when the sun dances 🙂 I did not know any of this and I have not seen any analysis remotely close. All good to you and your families team sundance
Meanwhile in Florida. the far Left Blue Media Miami Herald is hammering Gov. DeSantis from which I infer he is the real deal.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is plummeting into “anti-vaxx Crazyville,” the Miami Herald’s editorial board declared in a stinging column Monday.
As a 70-year-old life-long Virginian who came from a very politically interested family, let me add another perspective. There are several types of Democrats here: The HUGE number of swamp rats in Northern Va who have us sensible people totally outnumbered, many minority people who are not looking at facts and thinking for themselves, and a third group that outsiders don’t know anything about – These are the leftovers from the days when the great (sarc here…) Harry F. Byrd had a stranglehold on Va politics for decades, the promoter of the Massive Resistance campaign that kept the schools segregated for way too long – and these leftovers do not at all see how foolish they are in continuing to vote Democrat come hell or high water. Trying to talk to them is totally useless – It’s a family habit that they refuse to give up. What will actually turn the state around is flipping the legislature as well as the executive office. I understand the uniparty description, but ANY change is a good start. Please pray for us, as it may be our last chance.
“What will actually turn the state around is flipping the legislature as well as the executive office. ” Yes ma’am.
Virginia elections are irrelevant.
“Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;……….
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity”.
The US military is passionately concerned with males in dresses and pronouns and pays defence contractors $20,000 for a contract add on aircraft toilet seat……while China laughs and gets great value for its defence money.
The eventual targeting perfection of Chinese hypersonic cruise missiles is in the process of making US Carrier groups obsolete.
There is no defence . Too quick for Phallanx or SAMs.
The only thing stopping China capturing Taiwan is the consequence of zero trade with the US and confiscation of its US based assets. You’ll know China is about to move when it minimises its US accounts. They know the US elites will eventually forgive in return for money.
When push comes to shove, which it will, Taiwan will opt for a 50 year integration, like the HK model (subsequently
dishonoured by China).
The US century in Asia is ending.
I’m in Central Virginia outside Richmond.
The big talking point on local and national propaganda news sites is that the outcome of the governor’s race will reverberate across the country. If that subhumam corrupt McAuliffe wins, the Dems will be even more emboldened and go mandate crazy. If the milquetoast Youngkin wins, it will be a huge victory for conservatives. And the polls say ‘it’s tied up.’ What a joke.
SD is right. The Virginia race is being hyped.
Now if the pollsters were saying McAuliffe is ahead and there’s no chance Youngkin can win I would believe they are not cheating. But whenever they say it’s a close race, bingo. They are going to steal or have already stolen it.
McAuliffe said that about parents because he knows it is already in the bag for him; he can say anything and it doesn’t matter.
What does he care about parents protesting or students in Loudon county staging a walkout. He and his masters laugh at that.
Oh and where are the Youngkin ads?
To put things in perspective … did anyone ever wonder why so many normal “Democrats” were showing up at Trump’s rallies? When you look at the 1980s, there was more of an ideological split between Repubs and Dems. There was a reason why some Democrats were called “Old Democrats” or “Blue Dog Democrats”. These Democrats were behind the second amendment, etc. As time went by, both parties moved leftward. Both of them. Fast forward to today and what we have is a Repub party that’s really farther left than the Blue Dogs were in the 80s.
And that’s why Trump’s platform is pulling in so many people and why the phrase, “My party left me” is so appropriate. There are no more Constitutional Republicans. They are now what the Democrats were in the 80s. And the Democrats are now Socialists/Communists/Whackjobs. Trump’s platform is the sanity in a world gone mad.
Republican Glen Youngkin wins and immediately boasts that he did it without the help of Trump in 4, 3, 2…
Republican Glen Youngkin loses and immediately boasts that he did it without the help of Trump in 4, 3, 2…
Sundance,
Normally I agree with you, but I live in Virginia and the masks debate is very much part of the Youngkin/McAwful ad wars.
I don’t trust Youngkin, but I know with McAwful there will be vaccine mandates. I do not believe there will be any with Youngkin. And I know they will keep CRT out of the schools.
The House of Delegates race is huge too.
Don’t take this race too lightly. If McAwful loses, it will be HUGE blow to the Dems. They didn’t expect this to be close.
Also, don’t write-off NJ just yet.
As an FYI, I’ve lived both in the Arlington northern VA cesspool region and the central, more conservative parts of the state. This state is as divided now as the country with real animosity on both sides.
That all said, McAwful stepped in it big time with his “parents have no say in their children’s education” remarks. That pissed off the momma bears that often vote blue.
write off N.J. ? Its already gone
until counting computers and mail in is eliminated
they are playing the same exact game in N.J. as they are in Virginia
the big guns are all coming out for Goofytooth
I’m hearing in the news Murphy is now slipping in the polls
Jack now has a chance,
it sounds just like it is a scripted show
they know the outcome already
if it wasn’t so sad it would be funny
you know how the story ends..
Jack comes soo close but just not enough
after 3 extra days of counting mail in vote
I also don’t trust Ciattarelli he is a never trumper who conveniently flipped
when it started to become a problem for him.
I also think his primary was a fixed deal
the trump candidate only got single digits?? lmao
if he wins, he will be controlled just like goofytooth is
we really have no choice
the whole thing is such a farce
NJ is a pipe dream, but it’s far closer than it was supposed to be too. They have had to spend resources there that they did not want to.
I’m a Fairfax County resident and have been for the past 15 years.
You’re entirely correct that Northern Virginia has largely been overtaken by those reliant on the DC swamp ecosystem. There are still a number of conservatives who have waited in vain for the Republicans to actually field a viable candidate. Ken Cuccinelli was actually a pretty good candidate against McAwful in the letter’s first (and successful) run for governor. RNC hated Cuccinelli and offered him virtually no support.
it remains to be seen if Youngkin if elected will actually stem the tide of the ultra-leftist agenda in Virginia. However right from the start he’s said many things that conservatives can get behind. Job one – and it’s a huge one in Virginia – is to defeat a Democrat and actually get elected in Virginia.
At least in Fairfax and adjacent Loudon counties the ultra leftist takeover of the school systems with the consequent off-the-charts indoctrination of students has energized a number of voters who McAwful could’ve ordinarily taken for granted. Thankfully McAwful doesn’t understand the First Law of Holes and has made his situation even worse.
Bottom line is that Youngkin with a week – and many Dem dirty tricks to go ~ has a genuine shot.
Several years ago I had the distinct honor and privilege of being on a transAtlantic flight with McAwful. From an hour at the departure lounge in Europe throughout, literally, every minute of the flight until arrival in Dulles the guy was positively insufferable. Slimy used car and encyclopedia salesmen could learn a lot from him.
Bottom line – if you don’t want a McAwful win and the ensuing predictable media chorus about how this is a bellwether contest showcasing 2022’s election get off your duff and VOTE.
Amen BoatSchool!!!!!!
I can’t. I’m in the western part of the state. VA is a hyped election indeed, but it’s small ball in terms of the national prize My wife and I sacrifice A LOT to put our kid in a small private school, so I really don’t care if public school parents are vilified, or CRT, or their kids get molested by trannies in the bathroom. Public schools were a cesspool even before crit theory and boys in skirts. Conservatives can be a lot more effective by showing the GOP how politically unprofitable their inaction is going to be from here on out. Write in the names of Disney characters. Or Bob McDonnel.
VA GOP voters need to turn out and vote like they never have before. Drag your in-laws, old people, your neighbors, co-workers. BUT DO NOT VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICAN. This is the only way to show both the republicans AND the democrats what we are capable of doing to them.
We cannot keep waiting for the wrong people to do the right thing. We have to show them how much it’s going to cost them to do the wrong thing.
Youngkin has opposed vaccine mandates. McAuliffe’s only line of attack is to link him to Trump, with supporters going online and saying that a Youngkin win would be the end of democracy in Virginia.
The difference between the parties in VA is this – a GOP governor won’t go after guns or institute vaccine passports. McAwful will do both and put in permanent full mail-in voting to top it off.
The other issue in VA is the governor doesn’t have a lot of power so the real politics are done at the committee level in the Assembly. That’s where the delegates and state senators outside of Northern VA can be influenced to stop terrible laws.
Beyond NOVA, Eastern VA has three problems – the massive amount of federal spending in Hampton Roads near VA Beach, retirees from NY/NJ/MD, and the disgusting amount of lefty college grads from all over the East Coast that settle in the Richmond area these days after graduating from large VA universities.
We won’t even discuss the massive amount of illegals and visa holders in VA.
McAwful has been governor already. And I still have my guns. Ralph Northam is governor and I still have my guns. They can ban my guns, and I will still have my guns.
I’m vaccinated because my fortune 500 employer mandated it. So whatever Richmond says to me is irrelevant on that front. And voter fraud is irrelevant in Virginia because of Demographics. So the only reason I have to vote in November is to show the GOP that 1.) I vote. 2.) I do not vote for you.
In a fair election Youngkin likely beats McAuliffe in a close race but Virginia over the last decade has followed the pattern of many light Red states turning Blue. Democrats thoroughly control the state’s critical NOVA region outside of DC and use that power like a club over VA. The Democrats are using many of the same tactics in Fairfax County they’ve mastered in Philadelphia and Atlanta, warping a nearly even state for their advantage.
Youngkin has a chance only because this is an odd-year election and it’s harder hiding voter fraud in the reduced turnout. If McAuliffe wins with a last minute “push” that means the Democras almost certainly stole it. There are likely Dem operatives right now in Alexandria and Arlington filling out fraudulent ballots in case McAuliffe is losing on election night.
Bannon’s Warroom is making a big deal of the Virginia governor’s race as being a referendum on Joe Biden and on the multi-trillion dollar faux infrastructure spending bills now pending in Congress. The Warroom is similarly focusing on Biden’s collapsing poll numbers.
There are two problems here.
Problem number one is that vote fraud is queen — meaning that McAuliffe will win regardless of how much effort the ‘Republicans’ put into countering the Democrat’s election fraud.
The second problem is that Joe Biden’s principle role in this drama is to be the Democrat’s anger sponge. Biden’s assignment is to soak up most of the public anger that the Democrat’s social and economic policies generate, leaving the Obama Committee which runs the federal government from behind the scenes to do their dirty work in the shadows under little direct scrutiny.
While Biden is busily soaking up the public’s anger, the Democrats behind the scenes and their RINO fellow travelers will continue on with enacting their current agenda unmolested.
And when the time comes that Anger Sponge Biden can’t soak up enough public anger quickly enough — in other words, when his growing dementia is no longer a strong enough distraction to keep the public’s focus from shifting away from Biden himself and his mental issues onto the Obama Committee — then he will be replaced with Anger Sponge Harris.
My prediction is that the Democrats will get away with stealing the Virginia governor’s election; and that more likely than not, they will also get away with stealing the 2022 Congressional election cycle.
Ronna talks like she’s one of us. Since I cut my cable and never watch the news she can’t fool me. FJB .
She should have stayed at the spa a little longer…just sayin’!
we aint going anywhere.

That foul, evil, demonic bag of shit actually ridiculed parents that were concerned their daughters are being raped by mentally ill boys pretending they are girls.
My guess it goes into the evening and counting stops and McAuliffe wins by a small margin. They only want to cheat just enough to have him get the win.
Trump endorsed Youngkin early on and then endorsed him again later on. Trump gave a live speech at a rally in Virginia last week to get out the vote. Virginia Project has been doing grass root strides for many months turning VA around and fighting the Dems at every turn including the voter fraud. As Trump points out, sometimes you have to work with the RINOs to get what you want. In this case, if Rona is helping in the VA races, we will take it because we need all of the help we can get to take back the House and the Governor’s office.
Youngkin was my second choice. He is a heck of a lot better than Communist McAwful. I will be voting as well as my family for Youngkin.
Life in Fantasy Land. It must be great. No wonder they can figure out what to do to save the country. They have no idea what real life is like.
So does this mean it would almost be better for McAuliffe won since then we’d know what were dealing with?
McAuliffe is plenty known.
Didn’t Youngkin step down from the Carlyle Investment group?
I wonder what influences he was exposed to over there beyond making lots and lots of money?
same soiling, different time zone.
