My daughter is 11. I’m thinking of having her take the GED test and be done with it. It’s not that she’s brilliant or anything, but rather the standards have dropped dramatically. Here in California, the test is weighted so you can completely fail the written portion of language component and still pass. They call it equity.

Just this evening, I was speaking to a neighbor who is in the health care field. She’s actually a pharmaceutical rep, so she has a pulse on the activity within doctors’ offices within a large geographic area.
She said it has become ‘crazy’ in the past couple of weeks, with their phones ‘ringing off the hook’ from people calling to ask when they can get the ‘booster shot’.
Apparently, many, many people are clamoring for it — and these are the same people who will have their young children injected.
Additionally, it is apparently commonplace for doctors’ offices to be particularly busy anyway this time of year — because patients have met their insurance deductibles, and now want more medical services.
Also, this is the time of year many change their insurance coverage, so they make appointments for services and/or prescriptions believing they’ll be paying less. Oftentimes, they end up paying more.
Since I’m seldom in a doctor’s office, this conversation was an education for me — eye-opening and discouraging.

In 2003 my orthopedic surgeon prescribed Vioxx for me at the lowest dose. I told him I’d rather have Celebrex because if we had to increase the dosage, Vioxx was even more dangerous. He asked how I knew that. I told him that it helps to have a daughter who’s a pharmacist.
I took Celebrex for a few months and then told him I’d just take OTC meds if I needed anything.

IIRC, the committee recently voted 16-2 not to approve a booster eccept for those in high risk categories. FDA overruled the Committee and approved the boosters anyway. It’s a done deal. May they rot in hell.

The fact that they are mandating the vax for older children and young adults is nearly as bad. Both children and young people have over 99.9% chance of surviving the virus. Youngsters stand a nearly 100% chance of surviving. This vax should not be administered to anyone of child bearing age. Testimony has shown spike proteins accumulate in sexual organs, most likely causing infertility. If old and middle aged people choose to take it, fine, their decision.
This EXPERIMENTAL vaccine is garbage. It protects no one. It doesn’t prevent anyone from getting Covid nor does it prevent them from spreading it. I suspect it’s all a foregone conclusion, but I still think it’s critical to get real Americans’ views on the record nevertheless. Sundance is correct: if we won’t die on this hill, they will know they can do absolutely anything to us and we will comply.
For what it’s worth, here is what I posted:
I emphatically urge the advisory committee to reject any EUA for Pfizer-BioNTech injections to combat SARS-CoV-2 in children ages 5-11. In what I am about to write I could cite abundant original research and data, some collected by the CDC itself, to support my statements, but I know I do not need to do so because — to the extent you, as a body, are “following the data and the science” — what I am about to state is not in doubt. Children in this age range are, to a first approximation, statistically, at no risk of death from the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. Furthermore, children in this age range are rarely hospitalized from the disease, and when they are, it is overwhelmingly the case that they possess one or more commonly-associated risk factors. Most importantly, study after study shows that (a) children in this age range are seldom transmitters of the infection to one another, or to adults, and (b) are remarkably effective at mounting immune responses to SARS-CoV-2, without the need for pharmaceutical intervention. All of that would be sufficient to argue against any EUA. By let us add that the adverse reactions to these vaccines have been unprecedented, in scope and magnitude, for any biologic approved for marketing to US citizens in history. Consider that — this is your ONLY function! What’s more, those most likely to see adverse reactions that meet, or exceed, harm reduction from the disease itself are PRECISELY younger individuals. Finally, it is an uncontested statement that study of safety has been reduced, “of necessity”, for these products because of the claimed “emergency”. Your body may feel that the safety monitoring was “adequate”. Most of the US population does not. By all measures of scientific standards that prevailed up until 2019, these products would NOT have received EUAs, and those that did would have had them revoked long ago (as is happening, for certain age-ranges, in many Scandinavian countries even now). That this has NOT happened only confirms the fears of many Americans that the FDA no longer serves as a regulatory “watchdog”, but as a “partner” with the pharmaceutical industry, and is thus no longer capable of performing an oversight function. In short, the US public is no longer the focus of FDA action. If you approve this EUA, in the eyes of a great many Americans — those that read the original literature and follow actual data, not those who focus on the media or the Sunday talk shows — you will confirm this fear. Since you will have revealed yourselves to be focused on politics over science, you should know — with certainty — what will happen next. Within weeks, certain state and local governments will declare a mandate for all children in this age range to receive a vaccination in order to continue in the public schools. The legality of these mandates is moot — the legal system can not respond on a time scale relevant for most families in such an environment. What will happen next should be understood in no uncertain terms: millions of families will remove their children from these districts overnight. The impact on public school finances — whether urban, suburban, or rural — will be catastrophic. In some areas, the majority of students left behind in a public school district will be those for whom the public school system provides non-curricular services (e.g. free-and-reduced lunch, services for special needs, etc.). The reduction in public school enrollments that was seen in 2020 will be minuscule compared to the mass exodus that will occur in 2021/2022. If public education is something the FDA cares about, then you might want to think carefully about an EUA for an un-needed intervention about a mostly innocuous pathogen. Do the right thing. Follow the data. Use your critical thinking and the scientific method. Stop the madness. Restore Americans’ trust in public servants. Thank you.

I hope so. Two thirds of my kids were already removed last year (and we are in a “great” school system). But if the vax mandate comes to us (a purple-ish town in a deep blue state), then we will remove our daughter. It’s not enough to be granted “dispensations” for religious exemptions…. which I myself was granted by my employer or else I’d already be a refugee to a “red” state.
