Sheriff Wayne Ivey in Brevard County, Florida, releases shocking video of an officer involved shooting that took place August 30th. The video was released September 10th and shows just how dangerous it is to be a police officer.
During a traffic stop a career felon with outstanding warrants was a passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle. When the officers instructed him to exit the vehicle, the suspect immediately pulls out a short barrelled rifle and starts shooting at the officers. A total of 61 shots were fired in the exchange.

“Evil can never be dead enough!” Damn Straight!
Some day we need to invent a telescoping camera/microphone boom pole affixed to the roof of a police car that extends out to the side of a stopped vehicle during traffic stops that can gain a good view of who is in a car and what they are doing (and can be viewed remotely from a dedicated officer at back at PD HQ to give the officer at the scene a play-by-play commentary. It might save lives of the officer and act as a deterrent to thugs doing stupid thuggacious things.
No we need to have less murdering people in our society not better tech or drones. And judges that keep the right people behind bars under the right situations.
I agree “JustAGuy”.
The suspect involved in this shooting had a record a mile long and should have been locked up a long long time ago not wandering around as he pleased in public armed.
The law abiding, innocent citizens should not have to jump through more hoops or invent more expensive gadgets to keep themselves alive and protected against criminals who should be in prison in the first place.
Why in prison?
“Evil can never be dead enough.”
thats racist
?
Both and.
That’s the most important thing.
But we should do both, if possible. Robots that detect threats and immobilize vehicles during a traffic stop.
But not as important as ending catch and release.
I’m sure we have the technology it’s just the CIA won’t turn it loose
When they do turn it loose, it will be Skynet.
Skynet is already self aware, and getting smarter every day.
You’re kidding, right?
Drones.
It’s the Obama/Clinton judges who need to be consequences for letting scum terrorize the streets, instead of being behind bars for eternity.

Drone. We already have them.
Welcome Matty. It is mostly the flu. Indeed Covid 19 is a specific name in a category type of several viruses that have always been with us and always will. This particular one was manufactured in Wuhan China and either accidently or purposely set loose. Additionally, the vaccines are a hoax as actual medicine and possibly dangerous. Stay and learn. If English is not your first language, your spelling and command of it will be forgiven.
You probably mean well, but have you had it? I’m older, and I had it in April. It is not a cold, it is not a flu. It feels engineered, manufactured. I’ve never had anything like it and I’ve had flus and whatnot. Week one was ok, week two through four were not. People need to look into the prophylaxis and early treatment to stay ahead of it if they don’t want the jab. It’s not a hoax, not a joke. I had more than my 85 year old brother-in-law, go figure. But less than our friend who just died from it. She most likely got their standard Covid-19 treatment in the hospital that puts more people in the morgue, Remdesivir and a ventilator. Look up the Zelenko or Americas Frontline Doctor’s website protocol. There are a few. Knowing what I know now, I’d probably have taken the monoclonal antibodies. There’s a risk with them too, but many have been helped. And don’t forget to pray, to the One Who can save body and soul, Jesus Christ.
I agree that it’s unlike any illness I’ve ever had. If nothing else, the foul taste in my mouth/olafactory (sp) system was suspect as man-made. It wasn’t a cold. It didn’t feel like the flu. It was crazy high fever, inability to eat and I still can’t see very well. We took ivermectin, hcq and various vitamins. We managed to avoid the storm but it was the strangest sickness that defied definition.
If our adult children hadn’t been here to care for us, if my husband wasn’t a bioeng who had been reading about this and the ways it kills you, I am certain we would have been in worse shape.
Our main goal was to stay out of hospital. It was daily struggle. Primarily focused on nutrition.
Yes. I believe this was planned. But I truly believe it’s a bioweapon meant to attack specific members of our society.
My sincerest prayers and condolences to all of my dear friends here who are ill or who have lost loved ones. This is a war. We’ve been attacked as certainly as the day the towers fell.
It’s even resembling 9/11 in that the government is using it to take away our constitutional rights “protecting” us.
Take good care Friends and don’t underestimate the evil behind this. …. And!!! Stock up on fruits and vegetables just in case you’re home alone. For about 7-10 days the only thing I could keep down was fruit/green smoothies. Every day. Freeze your own fruit now before you need it.
It’s so good to hear you survived this bioweapon virus. Stay strong.
friend of mine – a 30 year nurse in a northeastern state – went on today about “conspiracy theorist” First Line Docs and the horse medicine. I had all I could do not to laugh at her. If a 30 year nurse in a major Massachusetts hospital feels this way, I don’t have a whole lot of hope.
68 morbidly obese, hypertension, stroke.
Had it Easter 2020.
Lasted less than a week, got on it at first symptom with ZiCam.
Felt like a not particularly bad cold, but did lose sense of taste, slept a lot.
Haven’t been sick with anything since.
So it varies.
^^^ This is the most Honest Poster on the Internet!
That woman let a wanted thug sit back there with his loaded weapon and her two month old? Didn’t inform the police? She’s guilty too.
The liberals are to blame for this behavior, all the idiots get is a light slap on the wrist. We need stricter laws and judges need to back them up. No one worries about their behavior, they can get away with anything. It’s time to give rights back to the victims. Just because an attorney doesn’t remember to dot an i, doesn’t make it right to dismiss cases. We need to take back control.
Another buttwhipe troll for this eh? I wasted a whole ten seconds on you i will never get back lol.
Ad Rem- clean-up on aisle 3— This “Hitchhiker” is not a Treeper, and the comments do not relate and are incoherent.
Hilariously, they refer to a “Buttwipe Troll”, which of course is only them.
Did seem a little non sequitur didn’t it?
Don’t suppose he posted this in the wrong place?
So the two-month old baby’s mommy or daddy had no problem with the riding in the car with a criminal with a loaded rifle. I would say child endangerment.
This video is a great recruiting tool for deputy sheriff’s and peace loving citizens!
.
Wish I was moving to this county.
A great video on what not to do. They let an armed criminal come up behind them.
Fortunately the the cops got lucky and the criminals gun jammed.
What was he shooting at audience right while thug was coming up behind him audience left?
The fleeing woman who had to be 20 yards away?
That was my biggest question too: What on earth was that one cop shooting at off into the distance? Just seemed weird, and way too close to where the baby was sitting in the car. I suppose he could have been in a bit of shock after what had happened, but still weird. It’s all good though, seeing as how nobody else got hurt.
Speculation on my part here. He was firing in what was to him the perps last know position. He’s already been hit and still fighting to survive, that’s a dynamic most civilians aren’t familiar with, including LOE.
That’s my Sheriff!
Q: “Why did the officer shoot him 15 times?”
Ans: “Thats all the bullets that were in his gun”
If you noticed he dropped his magazine out and most likely reloaded while pathing behind his police car.
First thing I noticed. He was bunny hopping with an empty weapon. I don’t think it matters who you are, at that point the entire confrontation goes straight down hill.
Hmmm….one of the cops ran when his colleague was assaulted with the jammed weapon.
Low situational awareness from both, the perp came from the rear of the vehicle, they had somehow assumed he would come from where they last saw him.
I completely agree. If the perps gun didn’t jam both cops would be dead.
I guess you and your perfection in the fog of battle should have been there to direct their actions and made sure they did everything right while they tried to keep alive…
That would certainly have helped them. Not reacting intelligently will get you killed when being shot at.
It was pure amateur hour. Obviously they were not well trained.
4:18-4:19 the cop turned his back on the perp bludgeoning his partner and ran when infact he had a clear shot. In the next few seconds his partner could have been killed.
Question for you, how do you know whether or not the officer who circled around the very vehicle the dashcam view we are viewing didn’t need time to reload?
I ask because he sure came back around while unloading with many rounds. And, he put the dirtbag down, for good.
You make broad comments about, “in fact” while not there and without the facts. Shameful.
This isn’t a movie. Heroes don’t always run into a hail of bullets. And, men who do, unlike the movies, get killed.
His partner didn’t get killed as you speculate. He may very well have saved his partners life. And, the dirtbag is dead instead because the officer moved to another position.
How do you know he didn’t run to pick up a mag he had dropped? He did exactly that while in full view of the camera at another point.
As for Amateur hour, both of these guys are very young, and so yes they were less experienced deputies. Ms. Haspel, please show some respect… They and all the innocent bystanders survived a really bad and explosive situation.
Not inexperienced, poorly trained.
He did shoot at the thug while his partner was getting clubbed. He ran out of ammo, dropped the mag out while running a circle and reloaded, enticed the gun on the thug…just like he was supposed to do. BTW that was his 3rd mag he emptied. A trained eye. can see him dropping mags and reloading twice. you missed it.
Lucky to be alive is lucky to be alive.
Their training was clearly not equal to the situation.
The fog of battle is always present, those who survive have trained hard and realistically to overcome it.
Excusing their deficiencies only gets someone else, maybe them, killed down the road.
One of my friends served in the USMC and they responded to a burglary alarm. While they were searching the area someone started to run. He pulled a toy gun (orange tip) and my friend saw that and did not fire his weapon.
While en route to the substation for booking, my friend told the guy he was lucky, 85% of officers he worked with would’ve probably shot him not recognizing the orange tip.
20+ years running calls with cops and it all depends who shows ups. Sometimes when we had a combative patient we just needed to deal with it ourselves because the first arriving cop was useless.
Until you’ve been in these situations in real life, you don’t know.
How do yo know whether or not the officer you claim ran wasn’t actually hoping to buy time to reload? You don’t.
Also, it is quite obvious the officer you say ran circles around the very squad car the dashcam is playing back we are watching. How do you know that wasn’t his plan? You don’t.
Have you ever been shot at? Have you ever been in a firefight? Have you ever been shot?
By the way, they had the thug between them and the second patrol car in view, the one officer did have the presence of mind to look to their left just as the dirtbag came around.
What I viewed were two officers fighting for their lives, they came out ahead bigly, and alive. I’m in no position to make any more judgment.
Lastly, I have been shot at and hit. I know some about how the mind works in those moments, do you?
You must be watching a different video.
“actually hoping to buy time to reload?”
Sorry, that happens on the spot, drop a mag (gravity) and another seated in maybe 3 seconds. Running away to do it is not necessary.
Have you ever been shot at? Yes. Have you ever been in a firefight?Yes. Have you ever been shot? No.
“the officer you say ran circles around the very squad car “. Maybe reread what I wrote, no claim of cop ‘running around car’.
“How do you know that wasn’t his plan” Cops had a plan to run around car and not cover the rear when they lost sight of perp?….concentrate.
“one officer did have the presence of mind to look to their left just as the dirtbag came around”.
Sure he did 🙂 , rather, he saw the perp in his peripheral vision, they were both pointing their weapons at the front area of the police car.
3 seconds and your dead…it can be done in less than 1
God gave use two hands and gravity, use them.
My time estimate is for an average poorly trained cop and I stick by it.
I am going to take issue with the first officer emptying his weapon into the perpetrator… he is leaving himself in a vulnerable position. At that point, he had no idea if the two other occupants of the car were going to participate in the violence. And his partner was down from both a leg wound and multiple blows to the head.
Shoot-shoot-look is also very defensible in the court of public opinion versus shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot-shoot…
All that being said, I have little sympathy for the perpetrator – play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
lol you always have a couple spare magazines. A speed reload is standard practice. You muscle memorize where and in what direction your mags are. It takes literally one second to reload.
Love this sheriff
I was literally across the street when this went down. It happened so fast I thought I was seeing things. It took place on state road 192 just west of I95 In west Melbourne fl . Those two officers are heroes and have balls of steel. That’s why I always back the blue! We should always respect the men and women in blue! ??????
Yeah, sometimes police officers do encounter “people who are bat-shit crazy,” such as this person. People who jump out of the back seat of a car brandishing a weapon, then slamming that weapon down on the head of a deputy (over and over again) when it jams.
And, yeah sure – when the officer finally gets a chance to kill the b*stard, let’s call out the lawyers. Yeah. “Armchair quarterbacks, step right up!”
Gosh … I sure am glad that we pay Law Enforcement Officers $150 an hour or more to deal with such things for us … oh, wait …
no – not bat-shit “crazy”
bat-shit SINISTER
bat-shit EVIL
bat-shit MARAUDER
Myself I’m shocked at the race of the perpetrators.
standard-issue
same as it ever was
Late for your clan meeting, are you?
On this one JR’s sarcasm has some statistical support.
He could have worded his thoughts a little more politely. There are African American Treepers, at least … there were … and remarks like that must really cut. I passed over other comments where people offered up statistics regarding African American crime rates because society needs to address the issue and not sweep it under the rug.
Boogy, I have been reading your comments for years and always enjoy them, that being said passing over is sweeping under is it not? The numbers do not lie, the most accurate description I have ever read was a piece titled “Confessions Of A public Defender”. It outlines how courts are essentially social clubs in some jurisdictions.
You better start learning to deal with reality, Boogy. Blacks, per capita, commit far more violent crime than any other segment of our society, and black males under 40 commit so many they are responsible for more than half of the violent crime in our society, despite being only approximately 6% of the population. The people who don’t want to live around blacks are simply exercising the good judgment required for self-preservation.
Facts are stubborn things, Boogy. You ignore them at your very serious peril.
In the 1960’s the forced urbanization of formerly crime-free White neighborhoods gave rise to the NY Times pejorative “white flight,” accompanied by inevitable epithets bigoted, prejudiced.
(White flight just meant follow your instincts.)
And in fact, like night follows day, a depressing decline in the quality of neighborhood life rapidly followed.
What was true then remains true today. Facts are stubborn things indeed.
Oh Lawd! That skinny white cop done shot that poor black boy 15 times while he was laying on the ground! Das rayyccciiissss!!!
And they’ll be sure to ignore everything that led up to it, including the choir boy’s mile-long rap sheet!
Retiring Oct 1st after 24 1/2 as a trooper in two states. “Bail Reform” is one of those reasons. Judges is another – I could go on forever about that. The last 10 years of cultural change is another and that video is another. 55 years old and I don’t need to get capped by some a-hole who just can’t figure out how to get along with other people. Movin on…
Love what he said…Evil can’t be dead enough!!
I’ve mentioned a few times that my wife and I are working on moving down to Florida when we’re able. We have a few places in mind, with one of them being Brevard County. It was near the top of our list already, but now after seeing this sheriff it very well be #1.
They all knew that thug had that gun in the car and were intended to use it on someone and those who survived should face serious punishment.
Name that judge who let this murderer out on the street! Spread their picture everywhere. ENOUGH
“Why did they have to shoot the suspect so many times?”
”Because that’s all the ammo they had”
“You cannot kill evil too much”, What heroes, good job men you have my respect. Stay safe.

They killed the bad guy and that’s good enough! They’ll do better next time … that was practice!
Ok Ad Rem, let me try again: That crazy dude ran around the vehicle he exited, clockwise, all the way around, then in a figure 8 fashion ran around the police Ford Explorer counterclockwise, and somehow snuck up behind the public servant hero. The hero, incidentally, was firing at the child in the back seat before the perp “snuck up” on him. His gun wasn’t even working. These people have pensions. Unions. They are poorly trained, and utterly incompetent. None of these public servants could do what you or I do for a living.
God how I hate the “monday morning QB” comments about situational awareness and how this and how that. If you are a cop or were a cop, you get a pass. If not, know that the exercise of your 1st amendment freedoms here in comments makes you look like a jack ass if you comment about the actions of these Deputies after the fact. Live through one of these traffic stop deadly encounters and then pop off. Hats off to both Deputies. I’m glad they both can live and train others. The lack of collateral damage also speaks highly of their professionalism. God bless law enforcement.
“speaks highly of their professionalism”.
I’m speechless.
Those cops both suffered from lack of situational awareness and good training. They were fortunate the bad guy was so incompetent.
And they are after the guns of peaceful law abiding citizens.
Well, one Biden voter gone to hell where he belongs.
Yes but he’ll still be voting Dem for years to come…
Forget Death Row. We need Death Week.
Saw this video a few days ago.
There is no way the other two people were unaware of the fact they were driving together with an illegally armed dangerous career criminal. They apparently failed to report that fact to the deputies before they opened the door. “Innocent” is not the word I would choose to describe them. Accessory to a crime — more likely.
About time to get some 45ACP or .357 Sig caliber firearms for these boys! No way I’d bet my life on a 9mm or a .40S&W. Low rent gangstas have no idea how to maintain an AR style rifle.
Sheriff Ivey
Thank you for sharing and being so transparent. Deputy Potters, please recover quickly from your injury’s and both Deputy Potters and Thoman … THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! God was looking over you and may he continue to watch over all who serve. Thank you again. Sheriff, you are spot on … The animals need to be off the streets!
