The Texas State House of Representatives has voted to arrest the Democrat members who fled to Washington DC in an effort to block quorum for a legislative session containing bills they do not like. According to the WSJ, “Texas state House members voted 76-4 to send law enforcement to find and return absent Democrats “under warrant of arrest, if necessary.”
However, the Texas State Senate has enough remaining Democrats to conduct legislative business. “A Democratic senator who spoke on condition of anonymity said four Democrats plan to remain in Texas. With 21 senators needed to make quorum, and 18 Republicans in the upper chamber, that would provide more than enough senators to conduct business.” (link)

Well, if they come back and do their job, arresting them won’t be necessary. And it isn’t Abbott who can have them arrested, it’s the Speaker of the Texas House. I hate to break your little heart, but Paxton has nothing to do with it, this isn’t a criminal matter. They will not be thrown in jail if arrested. The House resolution authorized the House sargent at arms to find them and return them “by arrest if necessary”, which means State Troopers would arrest them and bring them to the Capitol building, not jail. None of that can happen until they come back to Texas anyway. Once the special session expires, they will be free to return with no threat of being arrested. But, Abbott can just call another special session, so they can either keep leaving the state, or do their damn job.

So they have a quroum, vote on the legislation and the senators abdicating their responsibility look like fools. Now if their base voter wasn’t just as ignorant, they might be able to get those adults acting like Senators out of office.

Gov Abbott should have some fun now and announce that he is instructing the TX Dept of Public Safety (DPS) to take a page from our Dictatorial Queen of the House, Speaker Pelosi and open a Satellite Office of the TX DPS in Sodom and Gomorrah on the Potomac,… in order to arrest the Seditionist TX Dims in exile for their own “protection’ and return the TX Dem House members vacationing there now to be perp walked back into the TX House jail and then call for the TX House quorum to be in existence and pass his Voter Integrity Bill.
Imagine the vexation and mind-blowing anger at the DNC, CNN & MSDNC if this were to happen?
They will only arrest enough of them to get a quorum and the the incarceration will be inside the house of reps. The vote will be held with democrats within the chamber with the ability to vote but not allowed to leave until the votes are taken.
