Just a short note to bookmark for later 2024 reference about political opportunism and parseltongue. You might remember South Dakota Kristi Noem being adamant that she was not vetoing a legislative bill blocking male (transgender) athletes from Women’s sports. [HERE] Yesterday she took action to send the bill back to the state house. Read the rejection letter from the governor’s office:
Note: “bills returned shall be treated in the same manner as vetoed bills”…. with her signature; yet she still proclaims she did not veto the bill.
It’s a small note, but a note worth making nonetheless. For a politician who claims she speaks frankly and truthfully, there’s a great deal of parseltongue, a decepticon trait, on this one. Disappointing, just sayin’.
When asked why she doesn’t support the bill, Noem said she has received advice and counsel that the law would fail if challenged in federal court. Specifically Noem implied the NCAA would sue South Dakota and she believes the state would lose a lawsuit based on the law. If that is her position, essentially she is attempting to avoid litigation, proactively planning to lose that litigation, on a law supported by the majority in her state.
Hey Kristi,
You can’t walk on water if you don’t get out of the boat.
Next.
Mike Pence and Kristi Noem are vying to be the Jeb! for 2024.
Please clap.
AAAAAA!!!! And hahahahaha!
Pence/Noem 2024
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Another one who won’t get my vote.
It’s getting to the point where no one is going to get my vote unless their last name is Trump.
Same. And I’ll never vote for a parseltongue Decepticon. I’m in NY State so my vote doesn’t matter anyway. And now this state’s worried they’ll lose House seats due to everyone with sense and wherewithal rushing for the exits. I know this sounds awful but I PRAY NY loses House seats! Even our “good” reps vote wrong. I believe Stefanik is on board with psychotic men destroying women’s sports. Unbelievable.
Exactly, Auwtsnae. President Trump set such a high bar and we had a delicious, too brief, taste of the way things SHOULD be. That said, if we wait for the perfect President Trump clone, it may be a long wait. It’s early days and in some ways, we’re still reeling, but we’ll get our feet under us and the way will become clear, I believe. I pray that is the case because when we get right down to the very bottomest of bottom lines, God is working His plan. No one said anything about e a s y, and this is not, not by a long shot.
DelightfulDeplorable, you have cut through all the rhetoric and gotten to the heart of the matter. We have been spoiled by the straight-talking Donald J. Trump. A man who sailed into the conflict and wouldn’t back down from the bullies.
Unfortunately, there is only one Trump, and nobody else comes close. All the rest are just politicians. We will have to overlook some shortcomings and decide if there are things not worth the compromise.
This issue on girl’s sports may not seem that big an issue in the grand scheme of things but think about it carefully. It may be, as it defines the apex of wokeness, that there aren’t two sexes but many, and they are all equal. What’s next?
Only viable GOP candidate for 2024 is DJT.
I think Trump is it
after that
I don’t fully Trust anyone else PERIOD
Joebama made gender confused males his primary goal too.
Kristi NOma’am
At the risk of the savage verbal beating I will take, I gotta say this anyway….
Purity tests will not serve us well.
I am not a fan of this move, and frankly the political opportunism and cynicism bothers me a lot more than all 10 of the “chicks with d*cks” that exist in ND. Its not cool.
But I would also say I am far more concerned with the very real possibility of mass incarcerations, domestic surveillance and disappearances by the Stasi, gun confiscation, and other MAJOR issues. And instead we’re arguing over an almost imperceptible portion of the population and even playing THEIR GAME and THEIR RULES by constantly weighing in on meaningless crap. This is very much what the left wants us to do.
As long as our focus is on the 2 dudes that were thinking about doing track and field on the girls team by making asses of themselves, we are going to lose sight of some really, really, REALLY bad stuff.
If you’re interested in the “moral victory” that comes with being able to say you didn’t vote for someone who did this, power to you. But it might cost the other 100 million of us our freedom.
Now queue the inevitable.
I like your style,
As long as all our attention is drawn away from the EVIL that resides in Congress, we will continue killing each other.
We are looking for a strong leader.
Looks like she’s not it. Disappointed is all.
I completely agree. I’m entirely over hearing noise about mUh TrAnS rIgHtS, but this is not the source of our greatest peril at the moment. I can’t remember if it was Alinsky or Sun Tzu that said it, but the more you can bog your enemy down making them focus on anything not relevant to the main fight, the less they can effectively combat you. Eyes on the prize, fellas. The destruction of communism in 2021 is what we need to focus on.
Agreed! The only way to end this transgenders absurdity is to let the Left ram it down the Karen’s throats until they gag on it!
It’s the same thing.
When you find another loser who can’t stand up against easy low hanging fruit you do NOT have someone who can fight what we are up against.
I am singularly focused and seeing this through that lens I see a Nikki saurus.
I was thinking of Nikki, too. Ugh. Thankfully, even her supposed donors deserted her.
I see this as a trial run. If you run and hide at the first sign of pressure, what are you going to do when the important stuff comes along.
A coward in the small, irrelevant stuff isn’t going to suddenly be strong when it matters.
One can’t ignore the small stuff while paying attention to the big stuff.
Because the small stuff can grow in to big stuff while it is being ignored.
NO ~ Rather queue the 1969 NY Mets! Queue the 1980 US Olympic Hockey ‘Miracle on Ice’! No quittin’ there!
You can’t win if you don’t play. She’s caving to her ‘insurmountable’.
$crew the NCAA! $crew Amazon!
You never know when Providence might show up & win it for your side.
P.S. MoreBore ~ I totally agree with your “target fixation” perspective.
Haha, I’m not trying to anger you or ridicule you, but I do want to say a couple of things.
I don’t think this is about a purity test, but rather pointing out clues that show these people aren’t as solid in their beliefs as they tout in public. I’m of the opinion that we should back people that truly believe in what they say, because otherwise, we’ll just end up getting Uniparty politicians in power. It’s a vetting process to see who is real and who is fake. These people are professional liars and they’ll deceive a great deal of people into supporting them. They *could* stand up against the radical agenda of the left, but we’ve been shown that Uniparty politicians on the right do NOT stand up against the radical agenda so why should we start thinking they would now? It’s better to find these clues that we can form educated opinions about these politicians BEFORE we vote for them so that we don’t get disappointed later that they aren’t standing up for our rights.
I know it seems we’re focusing on trivial things when the left is going all out to destroy our very lives, but these issues ARE significant in that they show who these people really are, or what they really are.. It feels like we are being distracted from the real issues sometimes, but I remind myself that these help us weed out the politicians who are just trying to talk a good game to get elected so that they can continue to keep the status quo going where the politicians fake a bunch of anger at a given issue and then do nothing about it.
I want a candidate who actually has a backbone. I want someone who stands up for our God given rights. I want someone who isn’t scared to say what they believe in. I want someone who is willing to stand up for their supporters. I want someone who is willing to stand up against the Federal government’s overreach into our lives. I want someone who says the things that I believe in, and ACTUALLY believes those things themselves. I’m tired of being disappointed.
There’s plenty more disappointment coming,. It’s called UNITY
No, Insurrection Indegestion, it seems to me Joey is saying we are not going to unify behind another politician who doesn’t actually believe and act on those things we believe in -our God given rights.
There is not going to be “unity.” And we are betting there are millions more of us than there are of them.
I know leftists and I know people who are behind us, but, frankly, I know no one who is behind the RINOs/uniparty/swampdwellers.
Preach. Well said.
Shows she doesn’t have the stuff for the battle at hand.
This guy gets it.
It’s not as though this is a fight over whether a tax rate should be 20% or 30%.
It’s a bit more fundamental than that.
It’s also possible to continue to oppose the communists while pointing out Noem is Boehner with a skirt.
I couldn’t agree with you more, More. Kristi Noem is the governor of South Dakota, and as such has to act in the best interests of her state. Also, I think she knows this:
“Suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?” Why would anyone pick a fight they are quite sure they will not win? The NCAA will not be going after high school girls sports in South Dakota. The governor wants to solidify that.
For all the naysayers, have you joined her coalition of individuals and states to build up a big enough army to make the NCAA decide they do not want to challenge an army they cannot beat?
Meanwhile, I know a bunch of high school junior boys who are contemplating forming a girls sports team–soccer, basketball, whatever, and go out and win a conference or state championship. That is another approach. Won’t happen in South Dakota, but it will be hilarious in some of the woke states. Make a total mockery of it. Maybe the dream team could get back together for the women’s Olympic basketball tournament.
As if anybody now believes she would stand firm for MAGA with even the mildest opposition. Get real.
You pick a fight because you love to fight. You fight because you want to win. You want years your daughter prepared to compete against other women.
Reason…just like Lance Armstrong using steroids thus requiring all participants to sacrifice their values for his values.
Men participating as women is an abomination. It degrades women by demanding physical conditioning they cannot achieve then relegates their efforts as window dressing at a meet. It mocks Title IX.
If a woman attaining high post in her state cannot support her gender base on principle, then she has none worthy of her station.
Yes!
Then she needs to explain what the problems with the bill are that would invite a lawsuit. At this point, it sounds like she is afraid either (a) the NCAA won’t allow the college teams to play or(b) simply that NCAA won’t hold any events in SD. If her “reason” is the latter, then she should go to her citizens, tell them what may happen and ask them if they would be angry if the NCAA doesn’t have events in SD. Parents of daughters and those daughters themselves should know what the dilemma is and speak their mind – I think most would be willing to tell the NCAA to go pound sand.
Governor Noem correctly points out that Tennessee’s newly enacted law on the subject is also restricted to K-12 sports programs.
Would anyone seriously argue that South Dakota’s place in the inter-collegiate athletics firmament is more leverageable against the NCAA than Tennessee’s? Is Governor Lee likewise a failed leader because he did not veto the Tennessee bill for lack of collegiate inclusion?
What about the red states which have taken no action at all on the matter? Where do they fall on the purist brigade’s charge sheet?
Welcome to the cancel culture, Governor Noem…conservative style.
This is not about purity. People are too angry. Their rights have been trampled upon too severely. They’ve watched the fires in Portland, Seattle, Kenosha . They saw their election stolen by a leftwing machine and they saw their judicial system fail. They have been forced to lock-down, shutter businesses and churches.
They are looking for someone who will stand up and fight and be strong.
Just wait until the inflation comes.
NAILED IT.
Has Trump been gone so long that we’ve already forgotten one of the signature virtues of the man – people came to see through numerous example that he meant what he said. We didn’t have the impression that there was one Trump for speaking to the crowds and another to govern in the White House, but rather that he was who he was, love him or hate him. And when he took a position, no matter the popularity with the Washington cognoscenti, he stuck to it, even through the frantic slings and arrows and frothing impeachment threats. The spineless Judge Kavanaugh owes his seat to the fact that Trump didn’t back down, even in the face of the most hysterical opposition. And could you imagine him wilting at the THREAT of a lawsuit?? He wasn’t a typical politician, with a bifurcation between the stump and governance.
Why do you think so many millions of Americans connected with and loved him?
Kristi was for the South Dakota bill before she was against it. Do you really want us to believe that she hadn’t counted the cost, that she somehow fantasized that there would be no litigation against it? If so, she’s naive in the extreme and clearly not ready for prime time. No, this isn’t about purity, this is about genuineness. Conservatives have lost count of the number of politicians who would regularly tell us what we wanted to hear on the stump, vowing this, that and the other, then laugh behind our backs when it came time to deliver (thumbs pointed theatrically down, even). Enough is enough! I will not apologize for holding politicians to their word. If that’s asking too much of them, then God help me, so be it!
Jonrilus, “this isn’t about purity, this is about genuineness.” That sir is correct.
It really doesn’t matter what the issue is or whether you support it or not. What matters is the person is genuine in their beliefs and stands by them. Trump has taught us how to tell the difference.
I personally dont give a shit about sports anymore. it was a luxury while our country was promising.
She won’t fight any of that either.
Can’t be trusted with small things = can’t be trusted with big things.
If she will obfuscate on this, she will obfuscate on other things – more important things.
And not only will she waffle on other things Joan, but Noem will just love to “explain” why.
These spineless politicians just love to “explain” to the lower class voters as to why they must hold their standards higher and higher and higher.
Because We The People are just to low brow (dumb) to even begin to understand the complexities of governing and stuff like that.
So Noem will tell us all about it because she and her kind are so much smarter than we are.
All we want is a strong leader who will not fall at the first or second or third hurdle.
And these leaders seem to be so few and far between.
Mulvaney and the cantaloupe!
South Dakota.
You are minimizing the importance of female sports for girls growing up. Many dream of scholarships and playing sports at the college level. And even using their sports prowess as a way to get into a desired college.
This could mean real college money to a struggling family. And if its rewarded with easy money you will see more boys claim they are transgender to get those titles and that money. (If you are as old as me that seems impossible but I read it is happening already.) Whatever you incentivize you get more of.
How much longer must our side have to settle for the lesser of evils or allow just a “little” doggie do in our sandwich while the other side ALWAYS puts up their top contender? Yeah, they are evil personified, but they NEVER waver from their core agenda, never back away from controversial issues, and our “icons” always blink when the going gets tough.
Yea, she can say what she wants. She wins on looks along. Nope, she is not a Jeb, nor can I see her with Pence.
There is a business side to her I like. She seems to be strong on Gun rights. Personally, I say the government should stay out of it other then let them do what they want. If government was out of it, we could just tell them to go pound sand and tell them how stupid this gender stuff is. The government is just cover for the bad actors.
I agree with what you said but I think Sundance was speaking in reference to the Governor o SD lying on Fox news about vetoing or not vetoing the bill. The importance of that is that if she runs for president how can she be trusted when she says one thing and does another. And that’s to me it’s very important cause it appears that the ones that runs on the GOP side are all lying, deceitful con artist. But I may be wrong in my understanding of this article.
Nighthawk, you don’t ever have to guess how a democrat/Marxist stands on an issue, do you?
Nothing to do with “moral victory”. It has to do with integrity. She’s a sellout. Trust is hard to gain and easy to lose. And she ain’t the key to victory on the national level.
All excellent points! However, you made the argument for what we shouldn’t do or be against, but how about a screed detailing what should we be FOR and what should we SUPPORT!
We’re at an inflection point in our country’s history and it remains to be seen if we will eventually persevere and defeat those dark (evil knows no pigmentation) forces arrayed against us, or be consigned to historical ignominy–or worse.
Kindly disagree. I see it as just another weapon being used to weaken the conservative Christian beliefs. I don’t put it higher than other issues of importance but I still believe it needs to be recognized and discussed for the impacts it can have on our society.
It makes me think of the quote I believe is attributed to Andrew Breitbart where he states that politics are downstream of culture. Issues like transgender and other liberal ideology are being forced on our youth and I believe it does have affects on society as a whole.
Likewise, I support those who are willing to stand up for issues I believe in and think it’s important to see where someone really stands on all the issues. I remember when Nikki Haley and other SC politicians voted to remove the confederate flag from the capital and it pissed off a lot of people who had supported her. This was somewhat before a lot of her decepticon tells became noticable. Just goes to show you sometimes you think someone might be solidly on your side when they aren’t really..
I can’t imagine not voting for the lesser of two evils even if a squishy republican but make no qualms in thinking we need the staunchest, fiercest people to stand up for our causes. Giving in to multinational companies and organizations financial threats are just another reason why we have got here.
I do not see this as a purity test. I see it as the pretty governor had an opportunity to stand up to the constant moving of the social/moral goal posts that the Uniparty loves to do. If one caves on the little things then I can assume that one will cave on the big things.
That is all. It is similar to dating someone. The little warning bells should alert you to the possibility of big problems.
Pretty Kristi went to the party on January 6th to celebrate the installation of biden/harris. Strike One. Now she caved to the NCAA because she was afraid to spar with them verbally in the public sphere. She could have pulled a PDJT and pointed out their hypocrisy and anti-female stance on men competing against women. She could have finally pulled the curtain back on the whole charade. She could have advocated for separate sports for trannies just like black in colleges now need their own spaces. Strike Two.
I was never a fan of hers but okay, I’ll let the new Nikki Haley try to make herself relevant to the RINO wing.
Well said
I agree. It’s disappointing. But for the time being I still think Kristi is a real conservative. We’ll see… Heck, I hated that Trump went all in on the scamdemic too. But I’d still vote for him every time!
Abolt, Trump’s mistake in handling the pandemic was putting Pence in charge of the task force. Pence brought in the two biggest fraudsters in the government as the experts, Fauci & Brix. At that point, it was out of his control.
He tried to insert some common sense along the way, but the press shot him down at every turn.
As with everything else we have seen happen in the last four years, the truth will eventually come out, but by the time it does it is too late to undo the damage.
We MUST vote for the lesser of two evils in 3… 2…. 1….
Exactly how we got here in the first place. Yay….
Ok,I’ll bite.Making excuses and compromising our principles gets us elected RINOS we then proceed to repeatedly call out for their betrayals only to turn around and re-elect them.Purity is exactly what we need, and the only thing I will support from here on out.Because what will cost 100,000,000 people their freedom are spineless corrupt politicos with R’s after their names who, when push comes to shove, show their true colors and let communists have their way.
Recently the real President endorsed my junior Senator Tim Scott.Twice Scott called him a racist and then he voted to certify a stolen election that put into office a demented fool who is rapidly destroying our country.Go ahead and compromise your principles all you want. That is playing their game and their rules as they laugh themselves silly and retain control over the House and Senate in 2022.Without President Trump on the ticket in 2018 we lost the House.Walk away Democrats and Independents don’t trust the GOP any more than I do.In the Georgia Senate elections people piled on the conservatives who stayed at home.I pile on two weak RINO Republican nominees who flip flopped like Georgia catfish.Until the GOP is no longer an obstacle in the path to stopping communism from taking over this country I will never vote for anyone but a purist America First candidate. Now queue the enablers.
Idaho passed the same law in 2020, and the ACLU sued, and won. Federal Judge blocked the law.
The exact same thing will happen in South Dakota if this bill is signed into law.
Here in NC, Pat McCrory passed the bathroom bill. He got trashed, state boycotts, and lost his re-election to Roy Cooper.
That law was repealed here by the republican legislature. But we got stuck with 8 years of Roy Cooper.
I don’t wish that on the people of South Dakota. Especially considering theirs been 1 trans-athlete in South Dakota in the last ten years. One.
The error in your thinking is that you consider this issue “meaningless crap.”
IMO, that’s been the error the “conservative movement” (such as it is, frankly, it never really existed) has made for decades. Almost EVERYTHING was considered “meaningless crap”, and that is exactly we’re here today with a country that is 95% down the drain.
And now we’re told that fighting for the belief that the human race is essentially divided into males and females, and that’s decided by biology and science, is more “meaningless crap.”
When the time comes, self-proven frauds like Noem will tell us that gun confiscations are “meaningless crap”, and there are other issues we should be more concerned about. That’s the logical result of never fighting.
Rob, while I wouldn’t call her a self-proven fraud, any issue you don’t fight on shows weakness that will be exploited over and over again by the democrat/Marxists.
I believe there is more to this issue than just lawsuits. I don’t know what, but it may be revealed. I was very high on her, but after Trump, seeing weakness is a “tell”. He has a way of making everyone seem to come up short. She’s still on the list, but not nearly as high.
The reason I used that term is that by her own words, she’s lying.
On March 8 she tweeted that she was excited to be signing the bill very soon.
In the recent Tucker Carlson interview, she said she’s been discussing the bill with legal scholars for months, and the concerns raised in those discussions are why she declined to sign it.
Those two statements are clearly “incompatible” (that’s the euphemism.)
So in my view, the explanation she gave Carlson was not the truth.
It’s as though it’s impossible to be upset at two things at once.
Here here to avoiding rabbit holes place by the woke shock troops. I am pretty much a live and let liver wrt alternate lifestyle crowds, abeit with boundaries. I am much more concerned about a gov that, every day, exceeds x1000 the powers allotted to it.
I really, really wanted to like her… but I’m out.
She’s on her way to a black belt in parseltongue.
Agree completely
and
Never forget.
I felt she was cold to PDJT at the Mt. Rushmore fireworks. He reached out and praised her leadership, but she didn’t respond with any gratitude or warmth. I felt she was distancing herself from him.
Maybe she’s really a man without the B*LLS.
Not one of us should act or be Surprised! When she mentioned she didn’t veto but was forming a coalition, THAT right there was the tell.
her donors need the NCCA money. her cancer schools need the NCAA money.
money owns morals.
Maybe someone should make the NCAA an offer they can’t refuse.
Then she and those donors and cancer schools can speak out that NCAA is withholding funds due to a law based completely on scientific knowledge of the human body. She can let NCAA be the evil persona instead of being another “go along to get along” politician. At the same time, she can be putting together the coalition she envisions.
It is way past time to separate the wheat from chaff.
A SD girls need a champion….sigh
“forming a coalition, THAT right there was the tell.”
Indeed and so right….like ” the blue ribbon committees ” of the Bush days. Utter PR horse s.
Yep. That “coalition” is a one-page website, the domain name was registered on March 21st. Total fraud.
After being reasonable during COVID I’m really surprised and disappointed with her on this. And the reasoning doesn’t make much sense – you can’t win if you don’t try.
On the reasoning front, I honestly have not paid attention to this particular issue at all. just not important to me. But the cynic in me says its almost certainly about funding, whether thats what she says or not. You better believe universities, the ecosystem around it, the athletics, and so on, are big money, and especially for a smaller state. No doubt she got threatened by a handful of those powers that be, she rant he numbers, and it looked bad for ND. That threshold exceeded the “controversy” of a couple “dudes” making idiots of themselves. IMO thats a pretty simple calculation for a governor.
If Arkansas can protects its girls, why can’t SD?
It’s vetoed, in all but word.
She must have been threatened that federal funds would not be made available to her state if she didn’t “return the bill”.
Several other states have already passed comparable legislation. I guess they weren’t scared of a lawsuit.
her claim was her size. does that see reasonable in comparison of the other states? i dont know the other states
Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee have all passed similar legislation, and I know Missouri is working on it.
Exactly. It won’t wash.
She was clear that she feared retaliation by the NCAA pulling events from SD, so somebody with a lot of pull cares about that.
Can’t support someone who won’t fight for what’s right. If you put up a legitimate fight I’ll respect you if you lose. No McConnell designed huff and puff pretend fight.
YES. Exactly.
The South Dakota bill is broad, vague and unlikely to survive any challenge when the Biden DOJ joins with any plaintiff. On Feb. 24th the DOJ made clear they are in this fight when they withdrew support in the Conn. case.
Governor Noem’s two executive orders are very clear and precise. K-12 no girls sports unless a female birth certificate.
College athletics- no women’s sports unless a female birth certificate.
These orders will get court challenged but the attack will be directed at Gov Noem not the state.
Maybe this will buy some time for the SD legislature to clear their vision from all of the NCAA smoke blown up their butts to create a designed to fail law.
I’ll keep an open mind.
Meaningless.
On March 8th, Noem said she was “excited” to be signing the bill very soon.
Especially when as late as March 8th she said she was “excited” to be signing this bill soon.
Not only won’t she fight – she seems a bit “dull”, and a very bad liar.
I am glad you are putting these things out there about her because I sure have seen a lot of rooting for her to run for the Presidency. Apparently we still have a whole lot of people that do not go and check out these peoples voting record over the years or they wouldn’t be sitting there rooting for her if they are true MAGA supporters. That is one reason we are in the position we are in today.
Apparently she talks the talk without being able to walk the walk. She did us all a favor and now we know she’s not worthy of our consideration or vote…..
Her little story about dad’s book in the pick-up-when to plant, what to plant, where to plant……what no note from dad about straight talking?
From a founding member of UVA’s women’s track team-1976-yeah 200 years after TJ’s Declaration at HIS university.
sometimes in the world of mercenaries , murderers, blackmailers, and favors owe’d – you do things you wouldnt
the only cure is 1 term and fair elections.
I bet you are right. I hadn’t thought of that. (You seem to be right alot, WhiteBoard!)
Better we know this now.
I just don’t understand her stance here, it seems like such an obvious unforced error. Doesn’t she understand she has torpedoed her chances in 2024 with this boneheaded move? Does she think we’re all stupid? Geez…
Has it occurred to you that it isn’t about 2024? It’s about South Dakota in 2021.
Noem is a politician. You seem to not understand politicians.
Trump is also a politician. Some politicians are corruptly ambitious and some actually serve the people who elected them. If Noem had not explained that she is in it to win the war, not lose a skirmish, I would go along with you. The evidence I see informs a different opinion from yours.
John, I think she did but not genuinely or convincingly. I think honesty would have been the best policy. She is trying to thread the needle, keep her support and use lawsuits as the reason. I don’t believe it’s the only reason.
Just tell ALL the truth, I’ve changed my mind and this is why.
I consider President Trump to be an elected official serving his constituents not a polietician who serves herself/himself.
Trump isn’t a politician, and doesn’t act like a politician. That’s why the politicians hate him.
She signed two executive orders today providing the protections the bill alleged to do; perhaps the bill was worded in a manner inviting Lawfare with the $$$ from the NCAA and she may have devised a Trumpian workaround.
https://djhjmedia.com/rich/sd-gov-kristi-noem-signs-2-executive-orders-to-protect-athletes-after-vetoing-transgender-sports-bill/
That’s a very pertinent, relevant fact. Certainly good to know.
Rex, EO’s are not laws.
lets see if she is a liar.
on bongino interview she said she wants other states to join her in a law suit against the NCAA so she has more power (and isnt the example by the NCAA because SD is little and weak )..
You Guys will laugh, but I got a sense she was a wannabe MAGA when I saw the video of her bird hunting. #1 she was using a black plastic stock shotgun. #2 the shotgun has a big ugly nylon sling on it. Around my parts you hunt upland birds with a beautiful wood stock shotgun…AND no stupid sling on it!! Sacrilegious. Nobody at her photo op had a clue.
Libertarian. That’s why. They are all the same. 70% ers. Rand could have objected to Turtle’s Senate never going into recess. But he didn’t. They are great on certain arguments but otherwise embrace the suck.
It’s this all day long. She’s a libertarian which is just saying that you’re too gutless to admit to being a Democrat.
Bird hunting? Like Billy Jeff Clinton, haha.
I live in South Dakota. When you’re walking corn fields and across sloughs to shoot a couple pheasants, sometimes it’s nice to have a sling and sometimes you want a gun you can just toss in the truck and leave there.
Yeah, we can do that here. It can even still be loaded. You know, in case you see another pheasant in the road ditch and want to jump out and shoot that one too.
She refuses to do the right thing. It’s not her money if the state loses in court. Normal people shouldn’t have to put up the democrat victims stupidity. We didn’t used to put up with that pretend foolishness, much less condone and promote it.
Veto, shmeto…she didn’t sign the bill. Period.
She’s going to “Scott Walker” herself. Walker enjoyed a ton of MAGA voter support for taking on the WI teachers unions successfully
He blew it by kneeling before his pay-masters on illegal immigration. I remember in summer 2015 when he gave a mealy-mouthed, donor-approved, RINO squish answer about illegals.
I could hear his candidacy implode from inside my house 1,000 miles away.
Noem is sticking her finger in the wind, but it’s not about “the courts”. It’s about protecting her viability with woke-donors in the political class, while trying to avoid being called a mean old bigot who hates trannies by the lunatics on the Left.
Blaming “the courts” is the lie within the lie.
Given a choice between normal, sane, Americans and the woke lunatics who runs our Government, and the lunatics they are forcing on the rest of us…Noem chooses the wokesters and the crazies.
Hokkoda, you have distilled it to a really simple explanation that everyone can understand.
Kristi needs a dose of Growacet
There’s literally no difference between cowards and bribed traitors. We get the same crap either way.
If you can’t stand up for what your own voters want while you have a huge mandate you are worthless to me.
We need hundreds like Trump, we need nobody else like Nikki Haley.
Falana, Noem is not as bad as Nikki. Maybe she can gain redemption, maybe not. For me, Nikki is not redeemable.
We the People got the message.
The long knifes are out, that’s for sure. Along with no small number of axes and even a garrote or two.
“Noem spokesman Ian Fury said the Republican Party’s rising star has fallen victim to so-called “conservative cancel culture” because of this [one out of so many] issue.”
Some would say such a thing does not exist. They would be wrong. It is not as ferocious a beast, nor as frequently seen beast, as that of the left’s, but it most certainly exists as here it is in all its glory.
As Friedrich Nietzsche said, “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster”.
Flame me if you want. But here in Charlotte we passed a bathroom bill limiting women’s public bathrooms to biological women.
The entire Lib sphere attacked on us. We lost Hundred million dollars in Conventions, the NBA all star game, the Belk Bowl, the ACC championship game and the CIAA.
You must fight this war witha coalition. You CANNOT go it alone.
The lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves.
– Niccolo Machiavelli
Maybe Kristi Noem understands this, as do you, where most here do not.
One must stand for what’s right. Gender confused males competing against females is WRONG.
If you want sporting events and $$$ to be your god, so be it. GOD gave you free will to do that.
Thou shall put no other gods before me. GOD
I don’t care what your dead broken human had to say.
I understand perfectly well.
She has done many good things for our cause. I would not be so parsimonious in this.
Apparently here, it is one strike and “off with her head!”
If this comment thread had an animal symbol, it would be the piranha.
I haven’t seen such a feeding frenzy as this since I was at the Amazon River 120 years ago at the age of 35.
And only the skeleton would remain.I am only talking about one comment.
yeah, because after you’ve been bent over a couple of times, you get very sensitive about it.
Then you need to wander on over to the Pence thread if you want to see lack of trust and long knives.
No one has any loving feelings for that guy either.
If I remember right Pence did something when he was Governor that gave many here pause but when Pres Trump chose him as VP we all “forgave Pence” and gave him a pass.
We were burned big time for that one, we learn the hard way but we do learn.
We have given these people one pass after another time after time after time and ended up regretting it more times than we can count now.
So go ahead and make fun of these posters, writing about bringing out the long knives and feeding frenzies.
Yes the Treepers here on the Treehouse do not trust much anymore and when you look at who is in the White House now and why he is there you might understand why we are so short on trust of these Republicans.
The piranha should be the symbol of the Republican parties elected officials, they have chewed us (the R voters) up and spit us out for over 50 years.
We are NOT the problem.
Well said.
So you are saying Neom is a Pence. That is really really low.
Inflation erodes the value of everything. As I’ve said, 15 minutes of fame is not worth more than 8 minutes these days.
You know, I’ll know that we’ve turned a corner when these political “sparklers” realize that the conservative base, which now defines the grassroots Republican party, will no longer accept a song and dance that tilts to the right. The radical transgender movement represents an attack on bedrock assumptions of a country based on Judeo-Christian foundations. It’s an attack on our historic national identity. The elevation of dysphoria into a virtue was never about a choice of lifestyle, not when the inevitable attempt to codify it began. If Kristi doesn’t understand that there are times when one is defined by the fight as much as the victory, then she is a lightweight, who hoped to sashay her way into a presidential run with a few safe ‘conservative’ actions and a couple of well placed speeches.
Of course I’m not a linguist, but my lay studies would suggest more ‘forked’ than ‘parsel’.
Jonrilus, you may not be a linguist, but you are a wordsmith. That was beautifully written.
I will quote my favorite president and say, “we’ll see what happens.” (With Kristi)
As if she thought anybody who supported the bill would not support fighting for it in court.
On the national stage, I have no use for her.
Noem would lose as Veep. Too many women would be jealous of her looks. Richard Grenell as Veep would win. Suburban women would not be able to stop themselves from voting for the charming gay guy, who, to his credit, has stood his conservative ground. Desantis/Grenell would win…going away.
Mr. Lee, not all women are jealous of beautiful women. Of course, there are some and Grenell is charming.
Buh bye, Kristi!
Governor Noem is simply gutless.
Really got to ask yourself – what kind of power do these freaks of nature have and where is this heading? Fascinating to me. I don’t have a daughter – but I think I would tell them that if they did not protest and participate in such an event – I would not come to watch or cheer them on.
Maybe its just me … but I could not be a spectator, let alone a participant in such a freak show.
The new world order is behind them. The goal seems to be to destroy every norm?
child of morning, I guess I’m “woke” enough to let these people be whatever they want, but that does not give them the right to do whatever they want. The example would be to participate in women’s sports where they have an unfair advantage.
Why is it that biological women are not trying to compete in men’s sports?
Can’t we just settle this by binding Kristi Neom up and trowing her in a lake ?
If she floats, she is a witch. If she drowns, well we certainly have plenty of politicians, and MSM, and DOJ, and FBI, and DOD, on our side so we can afford to be very picky.
If memory serves me correctly, SD classified Noem as MAGA-lite. I think she should be re-classified as MAGA-not.
This isn’t about the weeds in the forest. No, this wasn’t some big battle with the deep state for a national election. This was something much smaller. The “what” isn’t the important part. Stop focusing on the weeds, aka “what”, and start focusing on the actions.
We all know most politicians are worthless. Their mouth opens, they’re lying. Pence, Graham, McConnell, Bush, etc. Noem’s little wordplay is exactly the same thing. You can’t focus on what they’re pointing to… focus on their actions. Noem vetoed the bill and then tried to play it off like she didn’t. She caved to … someone or some group. And she doesn’t want people to realize it. And if she would cave here, she’ll be another Pence by the time she gets to that level. Bought, paid for, and beholden to the Deep State. On top of that … she had an extremely good opportunity to make the MAGA team by pushing back against Sen Thune. She could have stood up against what Thune/McConnell were doing but she didn’t. She kept quiet.
No, she lost all my support. Forget Noem. She’s lost to us.
I’ll still take Noem, from the Great State of South Dakota (not North Dakota), where I was born and grew up, to Wuhan Lujan in New Mexico, where I live now, ANY DAY. A lot of the comments about this subject, that it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, seem to have been noted by men. As a woman, this particular subject does matter, just as all the illegals pouring over the border 20 miles south of me does, just as a $1.9 T dollar blue state bail out matters to me, just as the mask mandate does, just as the vaccination ID versus voter ID, etc. matter. We better be keeping our eyes on all the crap being pulled, if we want to win. We can chew gum and walk at the same time. Personally, I do understand Noem’s position, and having been a South Dakotan and now a New Mexican (both tiny state populations and budgets, I hope she gets all the other small states and some of the big ones…Texas and Florida would be nice…together as part of the army needed to fight back the Woke, Left, Socialist, Anarchist, etc. movements. She can forget NM. It keeps turning bluer with everyone walking over the border; Zuckerberg’s money to help our elections offices; Democrat Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches making hay while the sun shines; etc. Thank goodness some of you aren’t leading the charge. We’d already be waving white surrender flags because we charged up the canyon without strategic or tactical plans and an army too small with no weapons to fight back. Noem will be part of the 2024 conversation; Pence…no.
Saw a post from her on FB earlier saying “Girls sports are for GIRLS!” or something. I was the only one who pointed out that she just vetoed this bill.
She showed her true colors with this decision. People were cheering for her when she stood her ground and did not shut the state down during the Plandemic. However, she just blew that out the window.
This doesn’t bother me as much as the fact that she attended Biden’s fake inauguration.
Not surprising. This is the GOP. This is the Boneless Turkey Party. This is what they do. Can’t help themselves. President Trump showed them how to win- just cant bring themselves to do it. Easier to capitulate. That way the MSM Whores Of The CCP will maybe like them.( they won’t)
Stick a fork in it. It’s done.
Old saying from the Black Hills of South Dakota. Politicians speak with forked tongue.
Looks like somebody has been taking lessons from Ms Nikki about talking out of both sides of the mouth; that’s when you become just another run of the mill useless politician, saying anything to get votes while standing for nothing.
She joins the ranks of Nikki Haley and Hillary Clinton…opportunism anyone?
Aleksandra, I wouldn’t put Noem in the same category with those two. I do have questions about her now. She appears to be trying to keep the Trump base while not offending the republican establishment. I don’t think it’s going to work too well.
People need to be grateful, and not disappointed, she is showing her cards now. We’ll continue our window shopping.
The only way to stop all this madness is to get a fraternity to all join a woman’s NCAA sports team identifying as female when they are in fact all men. Then they demolish all competition. No mercy rule at all they just keep scoring points on the opposing team.
Then when the final buzzer rings they walk off to the woman’s locker room to shower. Nothing short of this will end any of this crap. If this is what the women want then the men should give it to them good and hard.
“If this is what the women want…good and hard.” I find that offensive as h*ll. Who said women wanted this?
Let them take her to court.
You can’t win if you don’t play.
Besides, it is a win-win for her to go to court even if they loose.
She screwed up.
