Devastating. There are no words to adequately reflect the sadness in this day. Our beloved Rush Limbaugh has passed away after a battle with lung cancer.
Wings of angels dear friend,…. on wings of angels. Let us mourn deeply!
Rush Limbaugh, the monumentally influential media icon who transformed talk radio and politics in his decades behind the microphone, helping shape the modern-day Republican Party, died Wednesday at the age of 70 after a battle with lung cancer, his family announced.
Limbaugh’s wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on his radio show.
The radio icon learned he had Stage IV lung cancer in January 2020 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump at the State of the Union address days later. First lady Melania Trump then presented America’s highest civilian honor to Limbaugh in an emotional moment on the heels of his devastating cancer diagnosis. (more from Fox News)
We need to honor Rush and his legacy by becoming his voice now. He would have wanted that, I think. We must be as brave as he was, and speak and act with force and authority, especially now as our beloved country is under assault. My consolation today is that he is with God. Together….what a helluva team.
My sympathy to all who are in mourning for Rush. When I heard of his passing this song immediately came to mind.

They don’t make them like Rush anymore. Mile-a-minute guy isn’t even close.
Hannity? He is an imbecile.
I think he was referring to Shapiro.
Yes Shapiro.
Hannity is an imbecile.
Michael Savage will probably be dead soon too.
God Bless you Rush — and thank you. There is only one who can fill your shoes — our beloved President Trump. It would give the people hope.
We will not be silenced.
Godspeed, warrior for truth. The world got a little colder, a little darker today.
Rush was the first to say what he (and we) were thinking. Always enjoyed the Spatula City bit. Also, he introduced Klaus Nomi to Middle America.
Rush’s on-air conservative humor was an absolute joy in those early days.
If anyone still has a copy his “39 (or whatever the number was) Undeniable Truths” please post it!
This is why we loved him because he loved us and gave his all to us for 30 years.

We have lost a giant. Great intelligence, fabulous wit and an ability to connect and communicate second to none.
Wayfaring Stranger – Epic Version!
Tears………..but thank you for the post.
Ashes on our foreheads
Ashes in our hearts. Our loss – he gets to fly with the Angels.
R.I.P. Rush, Hearing this news has brought back the memories of my wife, who lost her battle with lung cancer in 2012.God bless his widow, I have an idea what she must be going through. Even though one knows death is coming not does not lessen the blow by much, if any.
Be Still My Soul- Exultate Singers
Sympathies to Kathryn, Rush’s family, extended family and co-workers like Bo Snerdly (who are essentially part of his family), Rush’s untold tens of millions of friends, listeners.
And last but not least, Rush’s faithful advertisers and the faithful stations that broadcast his show all these decades.
Rush re-built the entire AM radio industry with his Excellence In Broadcasting. By that he created tens of thousands of jobs in radio. He also provided wild success for every company that advertised on his show, which likely created another tens of thousands of jobs.
Rush Limbaugh is one of the great and beneficial leaders of American history, and also of world history. His was a life lived well. Most important, his Christian testimony gives comfort to all of us who mourn this loss. I give thanks to The Lord for giving us several years with Rush.
There were so many great moments listening to Rush. I still chuckle over Mark Steyn’s tribute when he mentioned Rush playing Andy Williams’ version of “Born Free” punctuated by gunfire to accompany any environmental story. Would love to hear that song again. There were so many funny and great memories listening to Rush over the years.
Rush brought a sense of irreverent humor to politics that was sorely missing. It was needed then just as it is needed now. My hope is that Mark Steyn and others can continue in a similar vein.
My prayers go out to Kathryn, Bo Snerdley and family and to all Rush listeners. This is a sad day.
Sadly, this moment has been imminent for months, ever since he essentially said that the cancer had won back in October.
So what happens to the radio show? Is there a possibility of it existing in some form of rotating guest hosts with Bo Snerdly continuing to help produce it?
Just so sad….
Tough to know about the future of the show.
Frankly, I rarely listened to any of his guest hosts.
You bring up a good point. Many just waiting for this to move on. I’m too emotional today to go off the negativity cliff though thinking about it.
Heartbreaking
I believe this is a perfect tribute to Rush
God Bless.
Thank you Rush, for sharing with us your talent on loan from God. Rest well.
After you have suffered a little while, our God, Who is full of kindness through Christ, will give you His eternal glory. He personally will come and pick you up, and set you firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever.
1 Peter 5:10 (TLB)
Prayers for Rush’s family and all who loved him. I will miss him greatly.
Going Home- Libera
Thank you, God, for taking him home. I can’t even imagine what he and his loved ones must have suffered this last year. Today, Rush is free, free at last–and face to face with His savior! For this reason, I rejoice even as the tears flow.
Rush made some dark moments in St. Lucie, for me, tolerable. I will so miss him.
Well done, good and faithful servant. May your family be comforted by the love of a grateful nation.
My heart breaks…Thank God for blessing us with such a man in this time. Deepest condolences to Kathryn and family and friends.
Give my love to Mom. She will be thrilled to see you.
R.I.P., Rush.
For Rush Fans around the world.
Rush’s energy for good was not destroyed today.
Rush’s energy was transformed.
Rush is still Alive and still Right 98.8% of the time 🙂
There must be some out there who remember Rush in the 1980’s on NY radio WABC 770 from 12-3 followed by a local NY legend Bob Grant 3-6 who hated then Governor Mario Cuomo. As Archie Bunker would say ‘Those were the days”.
Oh Yes. Bob Grant was another pioneer. Rush said so also.
Yes we do. We were in NY from 1978. Hubby and I remember Bob Grant. Good old days.
No pain and no sadness where Rush is now. Surrounded by God’s Peace and Love. And with God’s Eternal Light shining on him. Heaven is a wonderful, gorgeous, amazing place.
I do know. I must have done something right because in the most beautiful moment of my life, my soul was called in by God to meet him. My soul left my body, traveled throughout the Universe with no constraints of time or space. Gorgeous, beautiful, amazing. Then it was absorbed by God in order to better show me everything, answer all the questions I had at the time, and connect me to everything- from the smallest particle to the largest galaxy in the Universe. Then my soul flew back- it was not my time yet to go home permanently, but God had given me an amazing preview.
And ever since then, I have never been alone. I can feel God’s presence everywhere and in everything.
I called Rush’s show in the early 1990’s. He was a nice guy, we had fun. Looking forward to meeting him and all the people I have loved or admired, in our new forms, when my time comes.
Peace, beauty and love, Rush. Forever.
Thank you, Guy, for bravely sharing with this audience your very personal journey to heaven and back. I’ve read of many such experiences and take great comfort from them. Life has so many painful events—like our loss at Rush’s passing—but faith has to kick in. God, please comfort Kathryn. Thank you for giving Rush the gift of a loving wife to help him during his illness.
Found in the bin… 🙁
Beautiful, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. It is beautiful to read your story.
The talent has been returned to God.
Bravo, tappin. Excellence in commenting.
Finally Home – Don Wyrtzen
I prayed night and day for Rush to go into remission. I had just finished my morning prayer and switched on the radio to hear his wife tell us he has passed away. I am so sad today. It is hard to not cry about it. He was a good person. Very smart and loved by all who tuned in to hear him.
Gone but not forgotten. He will always be with us in spirit!
I pray for his family and all who love him, that they will have the courage and faith to move forward.
R.I.P. Rush. You will be missed by all of us.
God Bless his family and the country that he so dearly loved – America!
Your prayers were answered, he is for sure “in remission”!
RIP Rush…I grew up in Sacramento listening to Rush on KFBK before he became a national broadcaster.
Crying and cold in Texas.
Oh so very sad. Listening to Rush was always the highlight of my day. When guest hosts were on, I always felt a little let down. A lot of them were very good, but no one was like Rush. I miss him.
Vaya con Dios mi hermano.
All the tears I’ve been storing for months, were released this morning as I heard Kathryn announce Rush’s passing on his radio show. Even though we knew this day would come. It doesn’t lessen the blow. I am thankful for all the years he spoke for me and so many others. There will be others, but none with his grace and insight. He was a national treasure!!!!
I pray God will comfort his wife and family during their time of grief. I thank them for sharing him with all of us. Rest in peace Rush. You are loved and will never be forgotten.
I started listening to Rush during the LA riots. I was trying to find relief from liberal weeping over the “prejudice” the “poor” rioters were facing. Not a word about the damage they were doing. That hasn’t changed has it.
Then I found Rush a voice of sanity. I was blown away and have been a fan ever since. I am sure going to miss him!
Others will take his place. No one will replace him. Go with GOD, Rush. It is truly where you now belong.
The Lord’s Prayer- Andrea Bocelli
Such a sad day. This wonderful talented sincere man has been returned to God. God bless him for all he meant to his avid listeners for over thirty years on radio. I will miss him immensely. A one of a kind radio host. May God bless Kathryn & his whole family.
It truly does give you pause after Sundance’s previous post which says Remember you are Dust, and to Dust you shall return!
That was Manageire for Ash Wednesday. So appropriate.
a2n, it was actually posted by Menagerie. But I get it.
I want anyone who believes in life, liberty, pursuit of happiness to succeed. And I want any force, any person, any element of an overarching Big Government that would stop your success, I want that organization, that element or that person to fail. I want you to succeed. Rush Limbaugh

I first heard Rush in 1988, on WLAC in Nashville, not long after his national debut. I was a regular listener by “Gulf War One, in 1989. I’ve been with him ever since, albeit sometimes hindered by workload and radio reception.
Rush was a great American, and an amazing man. He joins a number of my heroes who have gone home in the past year. Yet another part of me has died.
“When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.” - Chief Tecumseh
Ad Rem, I was one of the first 5 posts on this news. Where did mine go? I’ve scrolled through all of them…did I miss it?
Found it in the bin…. 🙁
Its going to take someone with broad shoulders to carry his banner forward.
MAGA 2
When my children all married and were gone, I decided to rent out a bedroom or two. A young man from the UP of Michigan came to stay a while on his way to the west coast. He asked me if I knew what radio station had Rush Limbaugh. Since I only listened to FM music at the time, I replied that I had no idea, but I would see if we could find it. That was in 1990 or ’91. I listened from that day on. Can’t remember the young man’s name, but am eternally grateful for his introducing me to Rush that day. Raised all six grandsons to listen every chance they could. The greatest thing is knowing that we will be with him one day and that he has no physical limitations anymore. He was truly a gift from the Lord to a troubled land at the right time.
Found in the bin…. 🙁
I will miss him in this world. I only hope that, by God’s grace, we all get together in the next world. Through Christ our Lord, amen.

I was turning the dial on my car radio while waiting for my daughter at school and I landed on this unknown icon quite by accident in 1990. I could not believe that I was hearing a voice that spoke so much of my own beliefs. Remarkable encounter that I shared with him for over 30 years. Like a family member to me. My wife said often that I listened to Rush more than to her (which I deem an exaggeration). He will be sorely missed every day at noon for the rest of my life. ‘Thank God for Rush Limbaugh!’
Funny thing. I have no idea when I discovered Rush. All I know is I was living in New York and attending Columbia University. That’s probably why I got out of that place intact. I do however remember thinking “wow!! someone who thinks just like me. I would say all the time “Rush tapped into my brain again”.
I was introduced to Rush by someone at my workplace in the very early 90’s. At that time I was emerging from my youngest days of being a liberal, to something of a classic liberal. Thank you Dear God for Rush Limbaugh. I actually listened, without automatically rejecting the ideas because they were different. Rush had a true gift; he explained and clarified concepts in a way that cut through the BS and old standards while making his show fun. His enthusiasm coupled with his impeccable broadcasting skill to make his show a MUST LISTEN.
Literally, Rush Limbaugh saved me from being just another lefty Dim that believed all the crud simply because I grew up that way. He encouraged me to research, look for TRUTH, look for REAL FACTS…not the crap floated by those who postured. The more I did this, the more I understood. I also grew to see how my truest foundations of belief…freedom…faith…fairness, are rooted within conservativism.
Love and condolences to your family Rush. You were truly the greatest of all time. No better talk show host in any medium…radio, TV, etc.
Found in the bin…. 🙁
Rush always said he was right 99.8% of the time. He was wrong about one thing. He said he failed to impress enough people on the dangers of liberalism. No, Rush you did not fail. You pointed out their failures -failed promises, failed implementations of policy. It’s up to us to heed your warnings and act. Thank you Rush. We’ll take it from here.
I’ve been crying since I heard . What a void he has left, but someone will step up. Rush had great replacement hosts, one of whom will continue. It will have to be the continuation of the EIB Network.
Rush would have planned that and not left us to flounder.
The Angels took him to Paradise this morning where we can only imagine his joy. Rest in Eternal Peace, Rush! Well done, good and faithful servant.
Me to, I’m listening to this video:
I’ve been loyal listener for 31 years. Wife and I have been expecting his demise for about 2 weeks, but we cried nevertheless today. I pray for Katheryn, David, Bo (William), the EIB staff and entire Limbaugh family
Being escorted home by the angels is one of our most comforting and encouraging promises. We know he is with Jesus and like Jesus now–sorrow here but great joy for him!
We listened to Rush Limbaugh for years. He loved America and wanted the very best for her. He was compelling, funny, and had a great rapport with his audience. We liked and respected Rush.
Of course we prayed he would be able to conquer cancer, but God called him home. On the wings of angels, indeed.
I’m crying too.
