Most CTH readers are likely aware of the term “deplatforming.” Unfortunately, the big tech control mechanism to shut down speech & assembly has now arrived on our doorstep.
One week after the 2020 presidential election, The Conservative Treehouse received the following notification:
…”given the incompatibility between your site’s content and our terms, you need to find a new hosting provider and must migrate the site by Wednesday, December 2nd.
What does this mean? It means CTH is being kicked-off the WordPress website hosting platform because the content of our research and discussion does not align with the ideology of those who define what is acceptable speech and what is not.
What was our violation? After ten years of brutally honest discussion, opinion, deep research and crowdsourcing work -with undeniable citations on the events we outline- there is no cited violation of any term of service because CTH has never violated one.
The WordPress company is not explaining the reason for deplatforming because there is no justifiable reason for it. At the same time, they are bold in their position. Perhaps this is the most alarming part; and everyone should pay attention. They don’t care.
Truthful assembly is now the risk. CTH is now too big; with a site reach of 500,000 to a million unique readers each day; and with well over 200,000 subscribers; our assembly is too large, too influential, and presents a risk… we guard the flickering flame.
Ten years of work assembling a library of factual citations and explanations of those discoveries, positions CTH to be a leading force in the rebel alliance push-back. [Heck, that’s why this place was started… that was our purpose: “The Truth Has No Agenda.”] However, that also makes us a target; hence the deplatforming.
Accepting -at its core- this move is all about politics, this is yet another reference point in the tenuous nature of where we stand. There’s no hate-speech on this website; there’s no graphic, violent, foul or abusive speech here. The ‘content‘ of the Treehouse is the same discussion that happens around your kitchen table or back porch discussion with friends. We would never cheapen or insult that conversation with vulgarity because that’s not who we are… because that’s not who our nation is. So consider this next part very carefully…
The ‘content’ is not compatible with WordPress, the world’s largest website and blog hosting service. The content within the largest blog on that global platform is what has become troublesome. “The content”.
The content on these pages is simply an ongoing discussion about freedom with criticism against any political party or entity that diminishes it. Apparently, immediately after the 2020 election, that discussion became problematic. After writing about the COVID-19 agenda,…the notification: the website will be removed.
Let that settle in…. friends and adversaries alike. Think very hard about what exactly is being represented by these actions. That’s the bad news.
So what are we going to do?
First three priorities: #1 is the security of the site content and research files with over a decade of work; #2) ensuring the ability of our assembly to remain; #3) continue the mission.
In the past several days I have begun contacting people to inform and gather counsel on what is the best course of action. On a very positive note, the Rebel Alliance is stronger than ever and no amount of effort by Big Tech is going to be able to weaken the resolve or block the message.
We will take this challenge head-on and we will use this attack against our freedom as fuel to launch CTH 2.0, a new version of The Conservative Treehouse.
I have no idea yet what it will look like… hopefully not too dissimilar to what we are already comfortable with. However, a lot has changed in the technological world since 2010/2011. There are many new and innovative ways to develop, build and create proprietary platforms.
I don’t like anything about having to be forced to do this. Readers here know I prefer comfortable quality that lasts a long time; but there is no alternative. We are being kicked-off WordPress and will have to assemble on a platform that allows free expression, free thought and free ideas to be shared, valued and appreciated.
Additionally, as I look at preliminary options for Treehouse 2.0, one guiding element is priority: I will continue to work earnestly to be deserving of your support and fellowship.

You can host a wordpress site like CTH anywhere, it does not have to be hosted by “WordPress”. Prioritize. Copy all existing content and ensure integrity of copy. Secure new platform and post new content and then change site URL ip to go to new ip address. Do before deadline to ensure smooth transition. Then post old content as soon as possible.

There is a facebook alternative called Frendi.ca that you may want to look at. It is almost completely decentralized, there would be nothing to deplatform you off of. Your content would be stored on your own server. It is also open source. I haven’t used it, but I have been looking for social media alternatives.

I stumbled across CTH only a few years ago, but it has since become my near-daily go-to resource as well. Earnest prayers for and profoundest thanks to Sundance and fellow Treepers.
Sceptical, I just donated with my ATM and had no problems. I have a PayPal account but have used it maybe 3 times in the past two years. I did not select to donate using PaPal.
Do credit card donations go thru WP in any way?? If so, there’s a reason to NOT donate by credit card!

It sounds like wordpress.com, the hosting service, is kicking you off, The WordPress software is free and and open source under the GPLv2 license. The easiest way to deal with this is to load the WordPress software on your own server and restore your backup to it.

I agree as I hosted my own blog for a time on my own home server. I’m sure my set up would not be able to handle the volume of treepers here as mine was quite modest. It is a simple thing to do however.
There are a number of commercial web hosting sites that specialize in WordPress. They should have the infrastructure to support this site.

Sundance — I am a VP of Technology. What paulinco suggests is exactly what I would do. Just copy and paste your site onto one of those other WordPress hosting services. Don’t try to completely rework your content management system right now and go through a difficult conversion.

WP messing with Treehouse recently was apparently just a prelude to bigger things.
Our timelines are also on WP however I spent $79 for their frame and then hired a techy to build from there. I wonder if those terms are different than that of the free version? This is shocking news, either way. Terrible times are ahead for all Americans if Trump doesn’t wrestle his landslide victory back.

Brother.. you can download the WordPress server software and set up your own using your WordPress DB. I do not know the issues of hosting a high volume system but I just don’t understand why it would be difficult to set up your own. There have to be hosts out there that aren’t evil.
WordPress is straight forward to set up on one’s own server or on a hosting service.
private servers are vulnerable to hacking however if not done right.

he has between 500K and 1million unique visitors per day.
He’s not going to host that on his home internet connection. He’s going to need large bandwidth for that, and a public facing IP. Most home connections dont have this.
So he would need either a business connection/public facing IP with enough bandwidth to cover 500K+ traffic.
That means hosting in a datacenter. The hosting company that wont censor him and still do business with him now that he is being blacklisted is going to be tricky part.

This is alarming, but to be honest, I’m surprised it didn’t happen earlier.
I’ve told this before, but I’ll repeat it even though it may be perceived as annoyingly autobiographical. I went to elite east coast grad a while ago to study politics. There I read a book about democratic socialism that was — to put it bluntly — quite terrible. I criticized it because I thought, naively, THAT’S WHAT YOU DO, but the reaction was completely off the charts. Yelling, accusations, the paper received an F when I had A’s in my 3 other classes. The professor never explained — he just made accusations, stuck to his story, and the administration backed him up 100%. At the time it made no sense, but in retrospect it does. The older professors were committed to truth, honesty, and free academic inquiry. However, the younger ones were much more Marxist, deceptive, aggressive, and unpleasant.
I was going to leave without complaining because I thought there was a reasonable chance I did something wrong. However, a Polish classmate of mine had a much more fundamental understanding of the threat of socialism. She was very brave — I thought reckless at the time — and she argued with the same professor. I figured if she could stay while I had to leave, then she was doing something correct that I wasn’t doing. I was admitted to a flyover state school that nobody there found impressive, but I could continue my studies, which was the important thing. I called her to let her know my plans, and she was very complementary. I asked her what she was up to, and she said, “I’ve just been expelled.”
At that moment I knew something was deeply wrong. She ended up not finishing, while I kept my head lower at the state school and graduated. However the point is not autobiography, it’s that this well known Institute that everybody has heard of had gone full stealth Marxist — all so-called “elite” academia has. The class would frequently be divided into teams to solve problems. After one of these sessions, I remarked to the professor that one of the students on my team was particularly gifted. The prof. said that that student didn’t have any books because he couldn’t afford them. I said I would buy his books.
A couple days later I received a nice thank you card and a couple weeks later I received an original score for a piano concerto written for me by the student. It turns out he was an award winning concert pianist and composer. He gave the composition to the professor to give to me in class.
I’m pretty tough but that was the most extraordinary gift I’ve ever received and I could feel a tear rolling down my cheek. The student was black and I’m white. Not that it matters.

1. Free and open source software you can download, modify, and run on your own virtual server or in any datacenter.
2. A hosted service run by closed-minded liberals.
If they are kicking you off their hosted service, you can install it on another, or on your own rented servers in the cloud.

I’m no expert, but I have free email accounts with protonmail.com which also is called proton.com. Email is free, and domains can be obtained there at a fairly small cost. Third parties cannot access email there without a writ from a Swiss court. Maybe a migration to a domain there?

I don’t know if it will do you any good but you could try talking to the guy that runs Kiwi Farms about server stuff. He seems to have to jump through hoops at times to keep that site up and running. He might be able to point you in a good direction.

And his observations apply generally to every human endeavor, from civilizations to churches to corner retail stores (Woolworth’s anyone?).
