Very few masks or any other kind of barrier. All those persons who have now tested positive seated near each other. It only takes one asymptomatic person. You can spread virus before testing positive if there’s nothing to obstruct acquisition, no mitigating behavior.
That’s how nosocomial infections spread in a hospital. Somebody lets their guard down and fails to follow aseptic technique. It has to be done completely with EVERY patient. People get busy or distracted, and pathogens are opportunistic.

Pence could certainly still test positive. Incubation period is different in different people, up to 14 days. He also might have been exposed, but had a strong enough immune system response that he dispatched the pathogen quickly. The VP is more “fit” than the average. Lots of visibly “tubby” men in the ACB event and in the inner circles. Both are risk factors.

Extensive RNA testing has demonstrated how and when various strains of Covid-19 spread to different areas around the world. For example, study results released in August showed that 30% of all Massachusetts cases, and 2-3% of all US cases, up to that time, could be traced back to a Biogen Conference held in a Boston hotel at the end of February.
However, I don’t believe RNA testing can give the type of refined picture you’re asking about. Assuming one person was the infection source at this event, all infected would presumably be carrying the same strain as it is highly unlikely RNA mutation would have occurred in such a short period of time. RNA testing can capture the “big picture” of Covid strains moving from country to country, state to state, or city to city, but its prevalence makes tracking them from one individual to another much harder.

Hence the masks “for you, not for me”. How did all of these people who are frequently tested suddenly show either positivity or symptoms at the same time? Not buying it.

It is awful but on the other hand it kind of makes life easier in some ways as well… I have often said I wouldn’t be so cynical if I hadn’t been proven right so many times!
Something is not right if this many people were exposed at a single event outdoors. This summer I went to a brunch in my neighborhood and was around 3 people who were exposed to Covid 2 days earlier. All three got sick the next day and were Covid positive. I was around all 3 indoors in the same room for 3 hours-no one was wearing a mask. Yet I tested negative. This event was outdoors. I hate to sound conspiratorial but this needs to be investigated thoroughly.
Routine lying by so many over the years (either by speaking or not speaking) has practical consequences. I can’t think of anyone I’d trust to investigate. I’m not even sure there’s anyone actually capable of doing an effective investigation.
We are now arriving at the destination to which we have been headed for a long time.

Sure, it can happen. Yet, how do we know all the screeners for this Wuhan Virus are on the up and up? Healthcare professionals are generally decent people regardless of political affiliation, but it doesn’t take a lot of screeners to purposefully infect key people. It might only take one.
Would it be difficult to use infected swabs to test participants? Seems to me it would be a fairly easy thing for one or two doing tests to have pre-loaded swabs, which could make it easier to infect the targeted individuals.
