The anonymous author of the Osterman book deconstruction series requested the opportunity to share their perspective on the outcome of the Mark and Sondra appearance on the Dr. Phil show (air date Sept. 11th). We present the following summation in their own words. The following is NOT authored by TCH.
Dr Phil (Hatchet Man) vs. Ill-prepared Ostermans
I am not sure how to post comments about the show because there was so much back-and-forth it was hard to keep it straight. I have decided to address the show comments/discussions in order so that it makes sense.
I had planned on only addressing the Ostermans’ comments but I feel that it is important to talk about the show as a whole because it was exactly what was expected from Dr Phil, an AMBUSH.
It is obvious that the Ostermans had intended to help George through the book release and interview. With that said, those of us that were aware of the pending book and interview gritted our teeth in hopes that the Ostermans didn’t damage George’s case any further. SILENCE IS GOLDEN!
As stated in the Introductory Post last week in the Treehouse, there was ZERO upside for George in providing interviews to the media before the case is complete. There is no doubt that Corey was watching and will likely have the unedited tape in the next evidence dump.
Within the first minute of the show, as the pictures of a young, innocent Trayvon were plastered across the screen, all of us knew what slant the show would bring. When they showed the lightened picture of Trayvon in his hoodie it was confirmed that this would be another media hack job. I felt as though we were taken back to the days in March and April before evidence has been released and current photos were available.
Below you will find comments in chronological order as they pertain to the show. My quotes may not be exact word-for-word from the speaker, but I will do my best to do so.

I will use the following acronyms for the speakers: Dr Phil = PM, Mark Osterman = MO, Sondra Osterman = SO, Alicia Martin = AM My considerations will be italicized:
PM: “This show is a safe place to talk about tough things”
It should be noted that is a safe place as long as you are on the side of Dr Phil, otherwise, good luck to ya.
PM: “It’s Neighborhood Watch not Neighborhood HUNT or Neighborhood VIGILANTE program.
It is understood that these are all terms that people used before the facts came out. Old, washed up rhetoric meant to enflame passions. PERIOD
PM: “…even with public opinion calling for an arrest of George Zimmerman, our guest protected him”
What does public opinion have to do with the facts of the case?
MO: “ George had a SEVERE CONCUSSION….. and Stood His Ground”
While George may have had a concussion, MO knew this had not been diagnosed. Gratuitous assertions do NOTHING to help GZ. He used the term “Stood His Ground” as an apparent reference to the SYG law which makes no sense as George had no opportunity to stand his ground.
PM/MO: Big discussion about the merits of a gun without an external safety, PM implies that without it you don’t have the time to think about your plan of action.
Would have been a great opportunity for MO to dispel such idiotic notions.
PM: “It’s Neighborhood Watch/Observe/Report……not time for Rambo Macho Stompin around the neighborhood”
Another missed opportunity to explain that that is what GZ did, Watch/Observe/Report. As for the Rambo Macho garbage, PM is making another attempt to take the bogus Crump side of the story as well as RATINGS (see: $$$$$$$$).
PM: “Legally licensed to carry a gun doesn’t mean a Kindergarten teacher can take into a classroom”
Why The Face? What does that have to do with getting feloniously attacked by a thug?
The discussion went to the fact that MO said there were two reasons to carry, first was to keep the gun away from kids. Immediately, PM stated “Isn’t it ironic that he (GZ) ended up killing a KID with it”?
No rebuttal from MO against this (or it was edited out) Disgusting.
Gratuitous flashes to quotes from rallies (blacks only) about arresting GZ.
Video of MO shown walking down the sidewalk, gun exposed, walking like John Wayne.
Does nothing for the PR of GZ or his case. UGH
Discussion about the NEN calls and how operator stated “we don’t need you to do that” PM pulls an NBC and conveniently leaves out the fact that GZ says “OK”.
Nice hatchet edit job Phil.
Discussion of previous video of MO stating “He is at my house now, they (NBPP) better come well-rested”.
Again, not necessary to George’s case and not good for the PR of GZ
Regarding the NBPP bounty, PM says the bounty has “…….been reported, don’t know if its been confirmed or not…”
Seriously? The NBPP leader stated so on National TV. EVERYONE has seen it including Dr Phil. If not, Phil and Eric Holder must be the only persons alive that didn’t see it. I suppose its PC to not admit to things that don’t fit your slant.
PM asks MO “is GZ is a racist”? before a break and they cut to previously footage of MO looking down at his hands as if trying to figure out how to answer the question.
Obvious hatchet job on MO that was inevitable to everyone except MO and SO.
PM talks of whether or not GZ is a “Cowboy Vigilante”. He regurgitates the previous arrest for the LEO battery and states he got off after taking “alcohol education”
“Alcohol Education” is a blatant LIE.
PM again states that GZ should have “watched and observed, not engaged”
There is ZERO evidence that GZ engaged anyone. Another gratuitous assertion meant to enflame.
PM states that his Mom taught him that the safest defense is to RUN.
Would have been nice to point out that Trayvon had his chance to run but chose not to.
MO: “Under no circumstances should he have gotten out of his vehicle”

AM: “Trayvon was a kind, gentle person” “There is no way you can believe that (GZ) story” directed at the Osterman’s.
AM should have the honesty to admit that there is a little more to the story with Trayvon unless she really didn’t know and, if so, that would not reflect well on the parenting of Trayvon.
AM: “if George didn’t put his hands on Trayvon, we wouldn’t be here”
Conversely, had Trayvon not beaten GZ, they would not be there
PM: “ He went to the store to get Skittles and ended up dead, that’s not OK”. “He (Trayvon) didn’t approach the truck and pull GZ out” “You have to admit to that (above) or you lose all credibility”
WHAT? People’s credibility depends on if they agree with Dr Phil or not????? Not one comment about the beat down given to GZ. NOTHING.
AM: “He pursued him! He lost sight of Trayvon! Leave!
Conversely, why didn’t Trayvon LEAVE? WHY?
AM: “TM was skinny with no muscles” “GZ hunted him down and killed him” “GZ big enough to defend himself” “GZ could have gotten Trayvon off of him”
OK. Finally a family member admits that TM was on top of GZ. Now we are told its GZ’s fault that he couldn’t get out from under the beating without his gun? Unreal
In closing, the whole meme about if George didn’t get out of the truck the shooting wouldn’t have happened is garbage and all they have to hang their hats on. To this I respond, if Trayvon hadn’t been suspended from school, this wouldn’t have happened either.
