I know some of you are planning on seeing “The Undefeated” this weekend, and I thought you might be curious to read about the highlights you can look forward to viewing.  I was lucky enough to attend one of the movie’s previews last June 30th, and using the footlights in the theater, I took copious notes.  The following is my synopsis of the movie based on those  notes.
The movie is presented in three acts with a coda. It is based on Palin’s book, “Going Rogue”.
“The Undefeated”……a synopsis.
The Introduction: We see the following verse…“Every good tree bringeth forth fruit, but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.”… Matthew 7:17.   What follows is a litany of vile Hollywood slander…the reason the movie is given its “X” rating. This is then summed up by the words, “by their fruits ye shall know them.”
Act I: “The Servant’s Heart”….Very briefly details Palin’s childhood, then launches into her early career on the city council, mayor, and what was to be her motivation to run for governor against Murkowsky. Lots of attention is given to discussing big oil corruption and the good-old-boys network that ran Alaskan politics from room 604 of the Baronoff Hotel in Anchorage.
Act II: “Mrs. Palin goes to Juneau”….Highlights her battles with the oil companies over their refusal to fully develop the Point Thompson Project on the North Slope, as well as her crowning achievement, the development of a gas pipeline (AGIA) by Trans-Canada. The oil execs pushed back hard against the gas line, however, she was able to get bipartisan support for passage….59-1. Palin states, “I’m working on advancing the state not on the currency of traded favors.” By now, Palin has an unprecedented 80% approval rating.
Act III: Tammy Bruce, Mark Levin, and Andrew Breitbart are first introduced. Bruce states, “You’re seeing a ‘complete’ individual.” We see Palin in her role as the vice presidential candidate, and hear her say, “I’m not going to Washington to seek the favor of the media, I’m going to work for the people.” (First round of audience applause.) M. Levin continues, “You could see the beginning of the Tea Party in her speeches.” When Palin returns to Alaska, after the election, she is faced with a slew of phony ethics charges and FOIA filings. Her personal legal fees approach $500,000. This had the effect of legislatively neutering her. Seeing the fiscal hardship this is putting on her state….she decides to resign. We can see a new strategy taking form….she proclaims she is ‘going rogue’. She begins to closely align her work with that of the Tea Party, and declares her conviction to see political victory….”I can see November from my house.” (More applause…)
Coda: “Children of the Revolution”. The Reagan Revolution is the Tea Party of today….they are the two great conservative movements of our time. We see comparative clips of Palin and Reagan, and the similarities are unmistakable. Breitbart is clearly an audience favorite with statements like…”To Hell with the establishment. They put us in the mess we’re in.” (Huge applause.) He continues, “GOP leaders need to learn how to fight like a girl!” (Even more applause.) Speaking of his complete and utter disgust for the men in the GOP, and their refusal to stand up and defend Palin…..”I see eunuchs when I see these men. I SEE EUNUCHS!” (Thunderous applause.) The last few words come from Sarah herself, ‘We’re here, we’re clear…GET USED TO IT! Mr. President….COME ON!” (Sustained applause.)
The movie ends as it began….with Amanda (group) performing “Minstrel Boy”….an Irish patriotic song. A soldier’s song. You might recall it as the music from ‘Black Hawk Down’. No one left early. Everyone sat through the entire and lengthy listing of credits. There was a real sense of reverent respect for what we had just seen. I couldn’t get the movie version….YouTube has blocked it for copyright reasons. The following will give you the tone though.

“Minstrel Boy”

The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
In the ranks of death you’ll find him;
His father’s sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
“Land of Song!” cried the warrior bard,
“Tho’ all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!”
