A rational society would not continue funding schools which produce students who burn schools down.

My comments are not directed at what about what you and I believe, but at what you and I are expected to believe.
The point is Western governments declare themselves incapable of controlling what they legally define as their juvenile populations, yet are completely capable of controlling their adult populations.
Most of the rioters appear to be in their mid-teens. I don’t consider them to lack the naïvety and innocence of children, but I also do not consider them to possess the full powers and agency of adults. Therefore, if a government is capable of exerting control over its adult population, it should be more capable of exerting control over its juvenile population. The fact French officials are not doing so suggests this lack of control is a choice, which means the consequent violence is also a choice.
Even if we consider these rioters as adults, which I have no issue with doing from a legal standpoint, they are products of a public education system which has produced rioters, looters, and arsonists rather than chemists, engineers, and doctors.
Furthermore, if we acknowledge that most of these individuals are not ethnically French, this further condemns the public education system as it underscores its failure to assimilate.
But I don’t mean to be distracted by the issue of public education. I point these things out because collectively they serve as an example of the larger failures within Western societies.
