The article itself is weak sauce in the extreme, “according to new U.S. intelligence reports that posit possible scenarios” blah, blah, blah… You know the routine.
However, that said, there is a general alignment of intent that tracks this narrative as expressed by the Wall Street Journal.
CTH doesn’t try to convince anyone. Convincing is an endless quest. However, if you just look at the datapoints that have surfaced since June 11th, there is a greater likelihood of some kind of western kinetic activity that can be carried out in order to stimulate more opposition to Russia. Some form of false flag operation.
That approach would track with what we have witnessed in the past two months as Ukraine makes public claims in media that are expressly opposite of the action they are taking. CTH has been pointing this out along the way. It is prudent to notice things, particularly when those things can be consequential to the interests of EU-controllled intelligence.
WASHINGTON—Russian President Vladimir Putin could try to test NATO’s resolve with a limited assault on an allied country in the next few years, according to new U.S. intelligence reports that posit possible scenarios ranging from a cyberattack to a small-scale land incursion.
The assessments, described by U.S. officials, come amid a shortfall in certain critical munitions that the military would need to confront Russia or China in a potential future war. The U.S. has severely degraded its stockpile of these weapons because of transfers to Ukraine after Russia’s invasion, as well as the U.S. conflict with Iran. Stockpiles at risk include long-range Precision Strike Missiles and Army Tactical Missile Systems, as well as short-range Stinger surface-to-air missiles, other officials said.
The U.S. had previously assessed that Putin wouldn’t provoke a North Atlantic Treaty Organization country while he is still fighting in Ukraine. But that assessment changed earlier this year, the U.S. officials said, as Putin is squeezed in Ukraine and under pressure at home to secure a victory. Kyiv’s drones are inflicting growing damage on both Russia’s army and oil industry, while Putin’s forces are making smaller gains at the front line amid heavy casualties. (read more)

DS trying and trying and trying.
When will the leakers be identified ?
The protection of freedom kinda makes one sick in this day and age
There are no leakers. It’s just made up fantasy. The fake news can print anything they want with no ramifications.
yes, PVP simply cannot stand by waiting for the EU to implode –
given the path they’re on, it could take up to 6 months!
better to intervene in NATO’s self-destruction and shed Russian blood
in a fantastical quest for some NATO ally that nobody really wants anyway.😂😂
what, Spain, the UK, France, Italy??
c’mon man! 🤣 🤣
I started reading that WSJ article earlier today and stopped. My CTH training made me aware it was BS before I finished the first paragraph.
Yes, a side-effect I’ve also noticed in the past year or so…
“According to an anonymous source wearing a COVID mask in the parking lot at Langley…”
While holding an umbrella and giving a Nazi salut.
Ala JFK
And a rope draped around his neck while wearing black-face…
LOL!
and chain smoking cigarettes thru a hole in the mask waiting for the secret sources info wrapped in a newspaper.
While wearing dark sunglasses and talking into his cufflink . . .

Saw the headline and skipped the article. Anytime there is a “could” in a propaganda piece my first response is “also could not.” It is the tell of pure conjecture
I could win the lotto this weekend. I could some day shoot my age in golf. I could spend the rest of my life without sin. The Browns could win the Super Bowl. Most likely out come is “could not”.
Above comment aside, what our host is noticing and I ignored, is the purpose of the propaganda. SD sees the breadcrumbs leading somewhere. He is extraordinary in that respect.
Correct.
The Daily Mail UK edition ate it up with fear mongering, giant headlines. And yes the word “could” was there.
When I saw the story this morning, I noticed 1300 comments were posted, and so dutifully went to see the tenor of them. Suddenly all 1300 had disappeared. Surprised I was not.
I think even the readers of the Mail have this all sussed out.
Hey, BNG, last year I shot an 89, one year less than the 90 that I was at that time (from the RED tees, though)… haven’t been close, since. So miracles can happen… lol
Congratulations! Matters not the tee box my friend. As you know it’s all about the putting. That’s fantastic.
Let Europe deal it!!!
Keep poking the bear then lil z can finish his drone factory, warmongers that make money from war will be happy.
No one says what they really mean.
Just saw Thune on TV and he said the Save Act is on the table because they are going to make it a midterm election issue against the Rats.
Yep, by all means, make it “a campaign talking point”, rather than a damn LAW FOR THE PEOPLE!!
Does that turd-brain actually think that we believe him, or is it just one more erect middle finger to the American people?
God curse his soul.
Thune will be moved up further on that list of cursed souls if this never gets passed before midterms.
And the Pope has decided to find a wife to share his humble abode in Rome for the rest of his life.
Can’t hate the media enough.
What would Putin hope to gain?
I’m sure the Russian people are tired of the stink of Ukraine, I can’t imagine any domestic support for any military adventurism.
Definitely super concerning. The WSJ and similar Neocon actors are also using Russia’s support of Iran to elevate / put a positive spotlight on super corrupt So Called Ukraine (I consider it a made up Soviet Republic) and super corrupt Zelensky.
Setting up Russia for a false flag attack. If a Russian attack is in the news enough Liberals will run with it.

It may seem interesting that Moldova popped up yesterday under the pretext of a book by “foreign policy scholar” Linda Robinson, who just happened to profile Maia Sandu:
https://www.pbs.org/video/august-6-2026-8h1yeh/
From their transcript (you can blame that for all caps):
“I WAS HAPPY THAT I WAS ABLE TO GO TO MOLDOVA, TRAVEL AROUND, MEET WITH MINISTERS, AND OF COURSE SPEND TIME WITH HER.
“AND SHE HAS REALLY BEEN I WOULD SAY THE PREEMINENT WOMAN LEADER FIGHTING BACK AGAINST AUTHORITARIANISM, RUSSIAN HYBRID WARFARE, AS YOU MENTIONED, HAS BEEN LEVELED AT HER FOR YEARS.
“SHE’S WON TWO ELECTIONS AS PRESIDENT, AND SHE’S REALLY SOLIDIFIED THE DEFENSES OF THE COUNTRY BY STARTING THE FIRST CYBER SECURITY AGENCY, PASSING DISINFORMATION LAWS, CLEANING UP CORRUPTION WITH JUDICIAL REFORM
“AND SHE’S ALSO WORKED AGAINST RUSSIA’S EFFORTS TO STEAL THE VOTE THROUGH MASSIVE FRAUD AND DIVIDE THE POPULATION BY WORKING IN THE RUSSIAN-SPEAKING MINORITIES USING THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH, ALL OF THESE KINDS OF HYBRID WARFARE TACTICS.
“AND SHE REALLY HAS PREVAILED, AND SHE’S JUST OPENED TALKS TO JOIN THE EUROPEAN UNION. AND THAT’S THE ULTIMATE SECURITY GUARANTEE FOR A TINY COUNTRY LIKE MOLDOVA.
“AND I THINK THEY’RE ON TRACK BY THE END OF HER TERM VERY LIKELY TO WIN ACCESSION TO EUROPE WITH TRADE AND ENERGY FROM RUSSIA. SO THEY’RE WELL ON THE WAY. IT’S BY NO MEANS A DONE DEAL BECAUSE RUSSIA CONTINUES TO ATTACK THEM.”
Transnistria is part of the play in Moldova.
Sundance called that one as a point of interest to watch quite some time ago.
After four years Russia can’t defeat Ukraine which has no air force or navy and is right next door to Russia. Why would Russia attack a NATO country? 🙄
unamed sources say they may want to be more diverse and they see all the Africans, Turks and MErs in W Europe and want to acquire that for Russia. Also, they may want to be green and net zero (so jealous) and need to learn that from the Germans, so if they conquer them it will be a good head start.
So funny.
Thank you, Sundance!
This is similar to the German airport in Leipzig finding a drone next to a Ukrainian cargo plane. FF stories meant to persuade the sheeple.
This is a supporting story to sell the narrative.
The fake anti-Trump WSJ just made a fool of itself with this statement:
“Kyiv’s drones are inflicting growing damage on both Russia’s army and oil industry, while Putin’s forces are making smaller gains at the front line amid heavy casualties.”
If that’s the case, Russia would be in no position to begin such an incursion, having depleted its own weapons and forces.
They’ve been trotting that out since the beginning of the conflict. One would have thought, given Ukraine’s continuous improvements and Russia’s continuous decline, that they would have defeated Putin and reclaimed their lost but stolen land, by now.
As the reverse has occurred one might assume that the narrative of impending victory over Russia is like all the other narratives we’ve been forced to listen to, a crock.
Russia has been horrifically losing for years now but is shortly going to take over all of Europe.
The concept of blackwhite…
WSJ has Kamallalalalalalalalala on consultant contract for misleading word salad articles when they need filler content of absolutely nothing, a job she handles almost as well as she handled Willie B.
[Disclaimer: Didn’t go past paywall for full WSJ article.] This has been seen before, and seems as shallow as the person giving it to the WSJ. Someone has a pretext, widely known, to support their supposition. In this case, the pretext is the much-reported theory that the US munitions stores are drying up. The supposition is aided by an old on-the-shelf NATO scenario that seems full of “oooooh ahhhhh” information. Words like ‘could’ and ‘possible scenarios’ are clues.
The pot-stirring has been going on since we (the West) found out that the Russians had penetrated the West Germans so badly that they finally realized NATO was arrayed defensively. A Russia relaxed in terms of procurement & fielding doesn’t auger well for the MIC.
Does Russia have their own version of the WOPR?
That’s how silly this article comes across. Mostly imagination.
The Wall Street Journal is lousy with IC assets.
Some unidentified IC spook told one of his WSJ assets that Russia is “Scary Bad.” They are so “Scary Bad” that they might, sorta could, maybe, if the stars align, possibly attack a NATO nation in “the next several years.” Maybe.
This isn’t actual intelligence. It’s BS.
Worse than that, it is probably BS that was cooked up as a prelude to a false flag operation.
True evil lives in the hearts of everyone involved in this fake news.
Very suspicious cat here. Looks more like a made up leak to fabricate official stories. I also worrie about a western false flag.
They really are drooling over WWIII with oceans of American, Russian and European blood spilled in an unwinnable nuclear war. No more genocidal European Wars! 🙏
Also trying to influence the Midterms.
From previous observations made here on this forum;
The DOJ and FBI leak their needs to the New York Times
The CIA uses the Washington Post to defend their agenda.
The State Department uses CNN for their propaganda.
So, how does the Wall Street Journal fit into this pattern? Where the Journal has traditionally been a money rag, I wonder if this is a public disclosure aimed at the international financing crowd as a heads up as to where to park their money.
WSJ and Fox are owned by the Murdocks. So its British Deep State.
Sounds like Ukrainian-CIA-MI6 disinformation, aimed at keeping anti-Russian sentiment high and money/arms flowing from the ‘Middle Powers’.
Setting the stage for a Euro-forces false flag they can blame on Putin?
People still read the WSJ?????
There’s nothing credible about the propaganda piece. It’s got the requisite weasel words/phrases. “Could try, possible scenarios, “US officials.”
Next they’ll Pe on their own shoes & tell themselves that it’s raining.
It won’t be a steady stream, just an uncontrollable dribble, as usual.
One day later and the WSJ is already out of date, namely how can Russia be “squeezed in Ukraine” when last night’s barrage to Kiev had zero resistance? The squeezing would be there is not enough airspace above Kiev for all the Russian missiles to travel through.
Congressman McCaul says it is all over but the crying. The Ukraine will end the gas station named Russia. It no longer requires any of our attention or money. Somehow I think we’ll hear them droning on and on anyway. As an aside, has anybody noticed that Abdul el Cyed Skyhook has been copying the Zman’s tight t shirt style that attempts to accentuate their unexceptional biceps. They have little tiny hands and little tiny feet.
My baseline question is “whats in it for who”.
There is nothing in it for Putin to attack a NATO country preemptively.
There is everything in it for Europe and the IC to create such a scenario
They’ve been pushing this hard in the UK today. It’s been the top story all day on the radio news bulletins.
Don’t know about TV news, as I don’t watch TV but it’s a fairly safe bet it’s been the number one headline there too.
I concur with Sundance’s analysis that a potential incoming false flag isn’t too far away. The pre-programming is so blatantly obvious.
Set up for the false flag.
“”The US official said…””
Have you ever just looked at the so-called influencers or better known as propagandists on these shows?
There is no way 50-years ago we would have taken them seriously.
They all look like jokesters.
“ The U.S. has severely degraded its stockpile of these weapons because of transfers to Ukraine after Russia’s invasion, as well as the U.S. conflict with Iran. Stockpiles at risk include long-range Precision Strike Missiles and Army Tactical Missile Systems, as well as short-range Stinger surface-to-air missiles, other officials said.”
I love this line from “other officials”, so let me get this straight.
When we get to a certain point in the year we just stop making our ordnance stockpiles?
And don’t forget the fire at the Penn tube artillary ammunition plant cutting into supply..
I am so sick of these games!!!
Putin has neither the arms or men to fight Ukraine, much less NATO.
One reason to thought-seed for a false flag with which to blame Russia is for the EU to have an excuse to heist Russia’s money held frozen in various EU banks with the lion’s share of it in Belgium.
That’s what the EU really wants.
They aren’t capable of defending themselves against Russia at all were a hot war to materialize.
And if the EU started lopping nukes into Russia, the EU would be toast before they could even blink.
Besides, none of their false flags are going to drag the United States into anything over there.
They want the money and they want it before Russia finishes mopping up, which is exactly what Russia is in the middle of doing right now.
For those not having a grasp on the Russian frozen assets issue, here’s a post I made this morning with enough information to understand this attempted money heist and use the details for further research.
Sundance has also covered the Russian frozen assets issue.

Ukraine is collapsing. W, europe cant save them. Thus the plan to create another psyop invoving imminent invasion of the west by russa, thus necessitating US involvement on a bigger scale. Will the psyop work? Maybe
Western Europe (Britain, Germany and France, in particular) have been doing their best to provoke war with Russia and frankly, they deserve to be attacked. Mr. Putin has shown tremendous restraint and this fact should receive more recognition, in light of what the EU has been doing.
Just look at Europe’s history and it is clear that they view war as a general purpose remedy to resolve all sorts of financial, social and other sorts of problems, as well as general civil unrest. The fact that the US is part of NATO, only makes them bolder and more inclined to “poke the bear.”
What “US Intel” should be doing, is assembling an itemized list of the EU’s various threats and provocations and giving this list wide circulation.
Don’t get me wrong, Russia is not all sunshine and butterflies. It’s a kleptocracy, run by a mafia, of sorts. But, they are still viewed no differently by the EU, as their prior incarnation as the Soviet Union. If the EU continues to provoke Russia, they will ensure that a self-fulfilling prophecy ensues and they will not like the outcome!
