The world really has gone mad.
A shirt stating biological fact is demeaning.
And the blasted Supreme Court rejects the appeal.
Yes it’s madness, In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
BUT. Even if his shirt had said “There are 28 genders” which of course is patently false, he should have been allowed to wear it, it didn’t threaten violence or incite anyone to violence, people are allowed to be wrong.
The only exception would if the school has a specific uniform or school clothing policy that is not unfair.

Not to be pedantic but the shirt was not stating a biological fact. That would be ‘There are two sexes’ (with which I agree). Rather, the shirt was expressing a grammatical fact because gender is borrowed from french where things are categorized as feminine or masculine (le, la etc..)
As for the Supreme Court, why should we be surprised when one of their members is unable to define what a woman is because she is not a biologist.
Or Spanish. If the shirt added “According to my textbook,” it might have flown with these clowns. This is not common sense. The guillotine grows closer.

So, in the context of the overriding topic, the court case, are opinions that are demonstrably and provably wrong considered free speech? In the context of a T-shirt with such speech, does a wrong opinion or mis-stated fact rise to any exigent threat obviating such speech? Who is threatened by the T-shirt and how exactly are they threatened personally?
The solution to free speech is more free speech. That’s my opinion. I need to put that on a T-shirt. Your response to the original post in the sub-topic was a great example. It reminded me of first year German some 55 years ago and and male, female, neuter. Thanks! 👍

The teeshirt was making a false statement of fact. (An opinion is not something that can be true or false.)
This is not a good freedom of speech case. We really don’t want to be in the Supreme Court having to concede that what was said is false, “but for a different reason”.
Statements alleging facts that are not true, whether outright falsehoods or mistakes, help bolster claims on the other side that they are problematic, hurtful, whatever.
But beyond this problem, there already is too much confusion in the law and public discourse vis a vis the usage of “gender” and “sex” — which unavoidably would arise again in this case tangentially in connection with the arguments over the “freedom of speech”. And because this aspect is tangential, it could NOT directly be corrected by the Court. It could only engender more confusion, misuse, nonsense, including in the media coverage. (See Gorsuch in Bostock).
It is far better that the Supreme Court did not take up this case.
The conflation of “gender” and “sex” (as well as the rest of the trans rights gender nonsense) does need to be corrected when a better case comes along.

There are only so many cases they can take. Not taking up a case is not really tantamount to a “rejection”. And this is not all that great of a case, not as a free speech case, and not from the standpoint that the message misuses the word “gender” as a synonym for “sex” (not good if/to the extent that issue needs to be addressed, as it has caused unwarranted confusion.)

The FBI pointed guns at me and took my reporter’s notebooks. They just recently closed the case against me a few months ago. The FBI in February of this year and they gave me back my phones that they had for three and a half years. When you get a when you get a search warrant to conduct a raid, you have to go to a judge, right, with a reason. Oh, we have this probable cause. The reasons why to to raid. When you close a case, which is very rare for the FBI to execute a search warrant and not bring charges. It hardly ever happens. You are required by law to give a copy of the probable cause. That is the reason why you conducted the raid. Guess what they did? They redacted every single word of the probable cause used to raid my newsroom. Every word. Maybe your producer can pull it up on Google or something. I every word. There’s a black bar pat through. It’s ridiculous. It’s literally black bars. We’re not talking about terrorists. We’re not talking about Jeff Epstein. We’re not talking about child molesters and drug traffickers. We’re talking about James O’Keefe, the journalist. So, if our FBI, our attorney general’s office, can’t be transparent about why they raided a journalist’s newsroom, why do we have any faith in the FBI to be transparent about these other these other issues?

This is exceedingly well-written, and I love your Christ-buoyed optimism. I’ll have to wait and see on the premise. In my heart I can believe this could happen. In my head, much less so. Many unpleasant observations have tinged my optimism with cynicism.
It’s a just assumption…that most Americans are indeed decent people. But they are not the ones who garner the attention, more’s the dreadful pity. I would like to believe that the fury and hatred which does would become so exhausting that those who exhibit it will have that moment where they admit they cannot go on in that state.

The cumulative sweep is often not an issue until the event is at the crossing of the bar, and lives are being destroyed. Trouble is, Russia isn’t targeting civilians. It is far more effective for them to destroy military resources far back from the front lines – which they are easily capable of reaching. If you can hit a factory, or a massive ammunition depot, you stifle your enemy’s capability to continue. And that’s what you use your weapons for.
However, it is now widely suspected that the Ukranians fired at Ukranian civilian targets in an attempt to finger the Russians for having done it.
The level of harm from Russian air attacks is mind bogglingly small compared to most other wars.
They are clearly targeting infrastructure + military targets not civilian.

I read today that Bongino announced that the FBI will investigate the leak of the Dobbs opinion. I’m wondering if that is intended as a message to Roberts. Roberts, after all, won’t like where any leak investigation leads.
