Russia is stronger today, militarily and economically, than it was before the war started. Public support for the war inside of Russia is as strong today, if not stronger, than it was at the beginning of the war in 2022.
The Russian leadership has no incentive at this point to negotiate an outcome which isn’t 100% favorable to their objectives for the invasion of Ukraine.
A negotiated peace settlement which isn’t 100% favorable to Russia’s objectives isn’t in the cards. The Russians will pay whatever price they have to pay to get what they want, a secure pro-Russia borderland which is favorable to their long term military and economic objectives.
The only question at this point is the question of how much NATO and Ukraine will be spending over the next several years in terms of lives and money trying to keep an inevitable Russian victory from happening.
