Canada joining the United States as currently constituted would be a step down for Canada; as of now they are a (former) British Commonwealth Nation, whereas the United States, Inc, is being operated as a British Territory. Donald Trump is the President of a British Crown Corporation under the contract known as The Constitution of the United States of America. It is not the lawful government of The United States of America (unincorporated).
If Canada chooses to become the 51st nation state of The United States of America (Unincorporated), all they have to do is ask because provisions were made for Canada under the Articles of Confederation:

So If Canada wants to join us and remain Canada, a sovereign, independent nation among the several states, and not the State of Canada, the 51st franchise of the British Territorial United States, they are talking to the wrong people. in the spring, summer many moons ago Around 6 months later decided to go back. It was winter and they mentioned it was winter. I told them I Love the cold. Arrived and it was 20 below 0 and stayed that way for the next 10 days.Nobody ever left the house. My months planned vacation
turned into weeks and flew out of Edmonton to San Fran. Alberta is certainly beautiful and Banff can take your breath away with its scenery. Pray and help others.

I lived in Fort Mcmurray for a few years. I bundled up and went for walks in 30 below weather (c not f). Here on the west coast of Canada the winters are mild. The coldest it ever gets is 10 below and even if it gets that cold it only lasts a few days. Most of the weather all winter is rainy and above freezing.

More alternate routes would not only add a measure of redundancy in some places, but also limit how much certain Nations can extort the trade going through the routes they have control over. More competition is a good thing, and alternate routes would allow for more resiliency in the markets.
Perhaps more about 20 ship wide natural lanes in both directions escorted by the world’s protector of the global shipping business – The United States Navy (for a small fee of course). Canada could assist along too.

Alberta is nice. It’s cattle country, having much in common with their neighbors in Montana. They’d fit right in with us if they were to join. However, I agree with some other commenters here, that this is all an effort to disconnect Canada from China. The people of Alberta understand the importance of this disconnection, but the urban parasites in Ottawa aren’t exactly brimming with foresight.
