i think it started with Marvin Gaye in 1983.
to his credit, he was on key, in good voice, got the lyrics right, and seemed very respectful – but hardly a traditional rendition.
the crowd gave him a good reception and that may have encouraged others to follow suit.
but then, there was only one Marvin Gaye.
however, that said, my all time favorite rendition remains Whitney Houston’s.
again, perhaps not just the notes as written, but she had the voice to
embellish and her enthusiasm was indisputable. 🙂

THE most moving, emotional rendition I ever heard was performed by Placido Domingo at the Olympics when it was staged in LA long ago. He sang with an orchestral background. The beauty, the power of it so surprising, ooverwhelming, and majestic that I unexpectedly wept buckets.
I have tried many times to find it but, alas, in vain.
But the memory of it stays with me still.

It was so nice seeing him having fun! He colored with the kids, did the Trump dance for the crowds, bashed Biden, and made Melania laugh. That was a cute Easter Bunny! Melania did a great job with all the activities for the kids, including signing their own Declaration of Independence.

My only critique is that the band was playing music that should’ve been geared towards children, not Smooth Jazz for adults. They might’ve played different arrangements of Peter Cottontail or Easter parade or even music from It’s the Easter beagle Charlie Brown. Just sayin’ as a musician.💛🌼🐇🐣

Egg farmers donated 30,000 eggs, mostly small and medium size, for the Easter event at the WH. A dozen large eggs in the midwest is still at $5.27/ dozen. What in the heck is going on? Is there gouging?
