The White House released the following statement:
“Today, America’s heart is heavy. Last night, three U.S. service members were killed—and many wounded—during an unmanned aerial drone attack on our forces stationed in northeast Jordan near the Syria border. While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.” (LINK)
A few more details are starting to emerge including the number of “many wounded.” According to recent media reports 25 were wounded along with the 3 killed.
Yahoo – “Biden said the United States “will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing.”
There was no immediate reaction from Jordan, a kingdom bordering Iraq, Israel, the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, Saudi Arabia and Syria.
U.S. troops long have used Jordan as a basing point, and the attack took place in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border. U.S. Central Command said 25 service members were injured the attack in addition to the three killed.
Some 3,000 American troops typically are stationed in Jordan.
Jordanian state television quoted Muhannad Mubaidin, a government spokesman, as insisting the attack happened outside of the kingdom across the border in Syria. The conflicting information could not be immediately reconciled.” (more)

Ah, HA! I found out something interesting in reading commentary on this attack.
The US has a formal (approved by the government) presence in Jordan.
The US presence in Syria is illegal – unauthorized. For this reason, anyone can technically target them as local groups exercise their right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter – “the right to individual or collective self-defense”.
So, if the attack was on Jordanian territory, the US has the right to retaliate. But, if the attack was on Syrian territory, the US doesn’t have a leg to stand on because the US forces in Syria are illegal.
That is why Jordan’s statement that the attack was not on Jordan’s territory is so important.

Brought to mind a prior Jordan incident – Nov 4, 2016… 3 Special Forces lost their lives on a training base there. There was a lot of controversy in the press surrounding the details back when, & as to which side was at fault/the aggressor. Seemed fairly obvious, but who knows!

Reports are confirmed that the US has sent at least five KC-135 tanker aircraft to the Middle East. These always accompany the air operations of the US Air Force.
I hope they are packing enough of Duct tape and Bailing wire to keep airborne. KC 135s are getting long in the tooth.

These sound like they were counterfeit parts, which has been plaguing the aircraft industry for decades, many of which originated in China, who, most know, can’t be trusted to provide metal of sufficient quality to keep a BBQ from falling apart.

“Typically” some 3,000 U.S troops are stationed in Jordan? Anyone know why? Because they offer logistical support and training for insurgents who are trying to topple the government in Syria, fight the huge Iranian elements that occupy Syria, especially around Damascus (Isaiah 17.1) and along the border of the Golan Heights opposite northern Israel to the Jezreel Valley, Megiddo. What I find astonishing is how ignorant as to the orientation, composition of forces arrayed by the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxy armies Hamas, and Hezbollah.
