California Representative Kevin McCarthy finally succeeded on the 15th ballot during the overnight hours of Friday to Saturday. Mr McCarthy ultimately prevailed with 216 votes after six conservatives switched their votes to present. This lowered the threshold for a majority vote and essentially reversed their prior opposition. Their change followed 14 other holdout Republicans who flipped their votes to McCarthy during the 12th ballot and Andy Harris (R-Md.), switching to McCarthy on the 13th.
After Speaker Kevin McCarthy was sworn into office, he delivered a speech to the entire House.
.
No one wanted this job on the GOP side. Imagine if reverse. So many power hunger dems would have rumbled for this job.
Kevin McCarthy wanted it.
Fifteen times he wanted it.
If it wasn’t for PDJT’s personal intervention, he’d still want it.
When you build a new house, the first thing you do is tear down the old one.
Actually that is not true. In farm country it is quite normal to see the owners continue to live in the old house until the new one is completed.
Correct. And then the old house is usually kept as an accessory building on the property.
Pardon the discursion, but I’ve seen that a lot in my area. I worked with a gal whose husband’s grandmother refused to move out of the old one and into the new one. Her sons, who’d built the house for her, decided there was no point in doing other than humoring her and didn’t press the point. When she finally passed away the sons discovered tens of thousands of dollars secreted in various places around the house … 🙂
There were no other options.
Nobody wanted it because they would have been targeted by McCarthy’s wrath
So now we wait to see if what Trump said comes true. You will see great things from the Republican Party.
We will also see if trust Kevin, is trust Sessions, trust Pence, trust GOP.
“Sessions was my biggest mistake.”
I like honest errors and transparency, the sausage making doesn’t bother me. They taste better after they’re cooked, not raw. They will taste even better with a glass of uniparty tears. They always do.
Kevin McCarthy Succeeds on 15th Ballot, NO New House Rules Package Will Be Determined Monday.
There….Fixed it for you…….
If I don’t hear about a rules package being at least proposed by the end of the day on Monday, I will call for every one of the 21 who stood against McCarthy to leave the GOP and caucus as independents.
And if that means more of what happened last week or even a Speaker Jeffries, so be it. The GOP needs to be burned down and a new party needs to be built in its place.
That new party will end up just like the Tea Party and the Reform Party as well as splitting the vote and guaranteeing DEMS even more wins without cheating. Educated voters would be the better way to go. Constituents keep voting in RINOS. Patriots need to step up and replace them instead of being so apathetic or ignorant.
I’m not voting republican anymore just to keep dems out. I won’t donate to republicans just to keep dems out.
The republican party is garbage. That includes federal, state and local.
In PA, the republican legislature voted in a democrat speaker.
In Ohio, the party is playing games in one of our red counties and probably others.
In my area, the party gave us state house and senate representatives whom no one knew and who we never got to know because they didn’t campaign.
The republican party needs to go. Now is the time when MAGA is engaged. Actually the time was actually the minute Biden was installed. It will be no more difficult to start a new party and build it than it will be to keep expending time, energy and hope on reforming the republican party which has a massive army winning everyone of the battles we try to fight.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
tktk
MAGA’s action areas are in the states and local entities.
It is with the election laws and voting procedures.
Success comes when people learn the procedures to change out the RINOs and then do the work to change them out. Homework can be boring but it pays off, just like in school.
Communicate with your neighboring precincts and states and help each other to replace the RINOs.
You act in small groups but remember, there are thousands and thousands of MAGAs doing the same type of work across the USA. Good luck with rooting out the RINOs, if not the first time, the second.
“Let’s go Brandon!”
It’s top down – can’t change from the bottom
They are not Republicans they are Democrats pretending to be Republicans. They figured this out years ago.
I keep seeing people wishing for a return the of golden age of the Republican Party. This usually goes along with referring to patrticularly egregious Republicans as Rinos.
I wonder if that golden age ever existed. I was not paying a lot of attention, back in the days when it might have. So I really don’t know, (And yes, not paying attention is a big part of the problem. Mea culpa.)
But were things ever that great with the Rs, or are folks just looking through rose colored glasses?
An alternate hypothesis is that the Uniparty was alive and well, doing whatever version of kabuki the public had a taste for at the time.
If this is all wet, some relevant facts and data would be appreciated.
It is time principled and patriotic Americans realized that the Republican Party cannot be fixed or reformed but needs to be replaced. When they do this will massively strenghten the hand of politicians who concur and cooperate to achieve this.
We tried to reform the Republican Party during the tea party. Mitch crushed that movement. Trump should have started a new party in 2020 when they stole the election from him. Millions would have joined the new party.
How much MONEY AND TIME are you willing to donate to such a venture? Not criticizing, just being a realist…
How much of TRUMP’S MONEY are you willing to spend, so you don’t have to get up off your butt and DONATE THE MONEY to do this?
So far, all I see is disgruntled people demanding that “someone else” like P. Trump spend all the time and money (billions of $$, most likely) to start a new party, so they, as voters, can just step in to a no-work, no effort comfy party that they’ve never worked for.
Agreed.
Trump had a lot of political momentum when the democrats were stealing the election.
When pence backstabbed him and the republicans sat by idly playing pocket pool, Trump could have seized the day and started a new party right then and there.
Think how far along that party would be after 2+ years of organizing, getting out the message and fundraising.
Trump would be leading this movement and party and it would only grow in strength.
It has been a wasted 2 years with Trump relegated to the sideline and losing his momentum.
The ‘split the vote’ is a defeatist mindset that would perpetuate forever the broken two-party system.
It props up a decrepit broken republican party and suggests that patriotic, conservative voters will never have any choice but the ‘lesser of two evils’ and that we must keep voting for the uniparty, forever.
Would there really be that many republican voters who would vote for a jeb or a nikki haley, if there were an alternative of voting for DJT? (or Matt Gaetz?).
They announce themselves passionately with emotional learnings.
Make Emotionals Fake Again
Build Kevin Better
Voting for the lesser evil ends up an ultimate shambles. It would be better to start at the local level working to oust any representative who is not a principled and patriotic American. These are the people locals know and also their track record, lifestyle and ideology. Then they can move up to the next level and follow the same strategy. Volunteers need to go from door to door promoting good candidates and not depend on those who have the money and use expensive media adverts.
Excellent. And GIVE MONEY. It will be needed for printing flyers, and setting up local HQ.
If that were to happen then the dims would have the majority in the house again and piglosi would be speaker again. Be careful what you wish for.
We will see Monday wether the promises offered to MAGA members will be honored, or if the Deep State will be licking its chops. Does anyone remember Chuck Schumer’s promise to Sen. Manchin?
I thought not.
I do. DEMS have o honor orntergrity. How Manchin could believe they possessed that is beyond me.
Manchin knew exactly what would happen. He knew 100%.
He was all in with Schumer from the get-go; he just needed a sound bite to BS his constituents with – and he got it. It’s all kabuki.
None of the holdout are MAGA.
Who are you talking about?
The rules changes are DOA. The McCarthy supporters will not vote for it and give in to the Gaetz/Perry coalition.
Eff the McC supporters (RINOs). If McC made certain concessions, he is going to have to uphold them. There are 21 repubs who threatened McC’s ability to win the Speakership, plus Trump’s endorsement, and MTG’s new-found (ahem) attachment to McC. I believe there WILL be rules changes.
Time for Kev to break-up with Frank, give him a bittersweet kiss good-bye and move on or be reckoned with by the Patriots.
The Spotlight newspaper first posted this expose of the CFR buddies who according to the lying anti-american media were “bitter enemies”. Complete BS of course.
“President Clinton was more conciliatory: “Newt Gingrich has been a worthy adversary, leading the Republican Party to a majority in the House and joining me in a great national debate over how best to prepare America for the 21st century,” Clinton said in a statement.
“Despite our profound differences, I appreciate those times we were able to work together in the national interest, especially Speaker Gingrich’s strong support for America’s continuing leadership for freedom, peace and prosperity in the world.”” (Horsescat)

Why is it always the Republicans working with the Democrats and not the other way around? Asking for a friend.
Assessment I saw:
Republicans only have the House, anyways, so they can’t do very much. Probably the one thing that will unite the party is spinning up investigations, grandstanding about Hunter Biden, spamming text ads about border security, etc. So maybe this all goes away and the party goes back to pathetic mewling on all the wrong issues.
But I think this is a good sign for political instability in general, which will create more opportunities for populism to erupt. The GOP is slowly ceding ground, to us. In 2015, when Trump ran, he was effectively alone, and had to create his own luck. Now Trump has a faction in Congress, and they’re growing, and the GOP has to placate them. Conservatives could still screw it all up. But I think our power is growing.
Republicans only have the House for a year, so they can’t do very much. The first year is a wash. The senate repubs caved to the senate dems who pushed the omnibus spending package that we are currently operating under. There’s no need for this house. They are supposed to have the “power of the purse” but all spending authority has already been ceded to outside interests. The next big spendy issue would be at the end of September when the spendy package expires. Other than letting the federal government shut down for a while starting on the first of October there’s not much noise this current group of clowns can make. Well, maybe raise our taxes by about 20~30%…………
From The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, by Douglas Adams.
It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
How true those words are today.
Exactly! It is only those who reluctantly, and with the fear of God, hold the reins of power, that cannot be corrupted by that power.
We are about to get factual information on character, honesty, as well as whether Kevin is a American.
Kevin doesn’t wear an American flag, it’s Ukrainian. So no, Kevin is not an American.
I looked, and he did not appear to wear it last night. Kevin is the definition of a poseur. He is also arrogant and narcissistic IMO. I hope the real Patriots in the party hold his feet to the fire and expose him if he dares to renege.
He wore it as a pocket square, which is properly disrespectful as long as he used it to blow his nose into, otherwise he’s just another degenerate corrupt pervert afflicting us.
While few of us wanted McCarthy and we know how bad Trump is with people, it’s gotta irritate the gope that Trump still runs the party.
Sorry, was trying to respond to a different post.
One of the concessions was for McCarthy to stay out of Republican Primarys.
Remember that McCarthy is RINO Establishment, so in order for him to agree to that, his buddy’s had to approve.
So, this should be a big win for Trump.
The Establishment just agreed to let Trump run unobstructed.
Any candidate running must win on their own merits. No tipping the scale for any one candidate.
We will see if they abide by their word.
Yah! I gotta bridge in Brooklyn – cheap!
“…abide by their word.”
help me off the floor – I’m laughin’ so hard I can’t get up.
“We will see if they abide by their word.”
Where do I send to bill for my monitor that I just spewed coffee all over? 🤣
Find it hard to believe this will happen. More Hopium.
DJT channels Robert the Bruce to Gaetz’s William Wallace……
Besties Forever……………..puke.
Politics make for strange bedfellows.
MayTaG hasn’t got the news from the WHO, someone should put this on her Twitter:
“Exchanging bodily fluids with men who have sex with men can result in monkey pox.”
The uni party just loves that.
Is that Luntz in disguise?
MTG agreed with President Trump, that we could do much worse, i.e. end up with a Democrat. Actually, I think she would make a good Speaker one day.
That was a good speech. Let’s see how he lives up to it.
We’ll know by Tuesday whether Kevin and the House will adopt the rule changes that he promised the Patriot 21.
I would have enjoyed the fight over the endless votes for Speaker, if I had not received a “tracker update” from my natural Gas provider announcing a tripling of the rate. The amount they projected for me, had me rushing to the thermostat and turning it essentially OFF. All gas appliances are now to be viewed as hostile, and dealt with accordingly. So, the house is now pretty cold, and I balk at cooking anything over a minute or two. That is the fight I want the Congress to have, Energy Independence immediately! Along with the Border closure, which is, really just a big wish as of now. Just sayin’.
What I have noticed lately is that everyehere I go it’s cold. Church, groceries, department stores, covenience stores, hair salon. Long underwear is a daily garment.
15 time’s the charm!
I would like to make a prediction – not because I can see into the future but because I notice patterns of behavior that keep occuring.
If the economy of the US collapses in the next year or two or there is a severe depression, the Democrats in the house will blame the Republicans. How will McCarthy respond? Will he demolish them with a brilliant argument. Will he show how well the economy was doing and improving under President Trump before covid? In this case he would have to give Trump fullsome praise for his economic strategies . Or will McCarthy, because of not wanting to do this, give some half-baked and confusing response that will allow the criticism of the Democrats to appear more credible?
Paste this on your fridge door and see what happens by the end of 2024.
Trump has given his support to Kevin. Why give some “half-baked and confusing response?” All Kevin needs to do is reiterate the prices of all energy in 2019 – 2020 plus the cost of food and other merchandise. All he needs to do is STATE THE FACTS. Facts do not lie.
In response to the outcome, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), one of the holdouts, said in a statement that the anti-McCarthy Reps. “changed the way the government will be funded,” and “changed the way committees will be formed.”
“We secured votes on term limits, the fair tax, the Texas Border Plan, and so much more.”
Bobert goes on to slam President Biden for calling the speakership process ’embarrassing for Republicans.
“How sad is it that us governing as the founders intended looks embarrassing to Democrats?” Bobert asked, adding “I’ll tell you what’s embarrassing. 40-year high inflation is embarrassing. 5 million illegals crossing our southern border is embarrassing/ Surrendering to ISIS and fleeing Afghanistan is embarrassing. Having a president that cant’ finish his sentences is embarrassing.”
Zero hedge
Having a Speaker is one thing. Now let’s see who he ends up working for. The people or Lobbyists.
He’s so smarmy..
Yes, he is. As well as arrogant and narcissistic . He’s got to answer to Trump (for Trump’s support) and to the real Patriots in the GOP. Bye-bye Luntz? Let’s hope. and we shall see.
“Maybe a few of the 20 dissenters were actually principled. But over the past two days the establishment has found every pressure point, and every blackmail issue possible. You have to realize that they would send Delta Force to kill your family in the mountains of Kentucky if that’s what it takes to keep the money flowing to Ukraine. ”
“You are witnessing the bad guys win and write the news and history to say they’re the good guys. As it’s always been”
Not me but random Gab poster. I believe he is spot on.
Trump supports this guy, but keep on with the DeSantis Derangement nonsense here.
From the wise and honest Russ Vought, for head of OMB under P. Trump:

May His Reign be Famous for its Brevity. And may it End with Sweet Justice.
Daniel 5.
Et tu Presidente’.
An agreement is only as good as the people behind it . . . we shall soon see . . .
I watched the CSPAN coverage last night of the 14th and 15th round. It occurred to me that Congress is one big fraternity and sorority composed of adults with stunted psychological development.
Well, they are at least 90% sociopaths, so there’s that!
So the world didn’t end?
There will be no new rules package. It was done just to get the votes.
If McCarthy had the least bit of shame, he would have bowed out after two ballots. Instead, he moved his furniture into the Speakers office. Now, all we can do is wait and see if he keeps his promises made to the 20 holdouts …
I didn’t think that McCarthy was the right man for the job. After his nauseating praise for Lincoln, I am certain he is not the right man.
