This is a brilliant move by the owner of Fiddleheads Cafe in Mendocino, California. The owner charges an extra $5 to customers who wear masks. Not only does this discourage liberal moonbats from dining; thereby creating a more positive, fun and friendly atmosphere; the owner uses the $5 surcharge to fund charity. In addition there is an additional $5 surcharge if you are caught in the cafe bragging about your vaccination.
In many red states, and regions that value freedom, the aggregate mask-wearing populace is now self-identifying as leftist sheep. Any negative incentive against the masked moonbats is a method to cull the risk of contact with the unstable folks. Brilliant !
CALIFORNIA – A California cafe owner is charging customers who wear face masks $5 to dine at his establishment.
Chris Castleman, 34, who owns Fiddleheads Cafe in Mendocino, Calif., put up a sign on Sunday notifying customers of the additional fee, according to NBC News.
“I don’t think $5 to charity is too much to ask from mask wearing customers who claim to care so much about the community they live in,” Castleman told the news outlet.
[…] “It’s about time that the proponents of these ineffective government measures start paying for the collateral damage they have collectively caused,” the cafe owner said. (more)

Flew SWA to FL for vacation last week. My husband and I barely wore masks. Wore mine for TSA check in and boarding the planes. Barely wore it during flight. My mask is black lace with gauze liner. Homemade.
We were shocked when we saw so many in FL wearing masks, more than people at Laguna Beach, CA the week before.
Seems airlines and airports are less uptight about mask wearing. Walked past 3 TSA agents with no mask on my face, no one said anything.
Hey everyone STOP WEARING USELESS FILTHY MASKS!!!!
Eliza – I too flew Southwest to Florida with my husband for vacation last week and returned today. Interesting thing is we experienced almost the opposite of what you report.
Most hotel employees and restaurant employees wore masks while the vast majority of hotel guests and restaurant patrons did not. At a restaurant last night not a single restaurant employee nor patron wore a mask.
We visited Publix twice and there is where we did see – as you report – a lot of mask wearing.
As to the airports, very, very few were without masks and Southwest was being very strict about mask wearing. As I boarded the flight this morning, I was greeted with the directive to pull my mask up in order to fully cover my nose.
Interesting. We saw masks at a local mall and at our resort.
Last Sunday at the mall the School of Rock showed up to play; they started out with Pink Floyd. The opening lyrics of the first song were, “Breathe, breathe in the air.” My husband and I broke out laughing as the singers wore masks. We both made gentle comments about the incongruity to the gentleman in charge.
I hardly wore my mask on the flight to FL and the attendant, who indicated he was tired of the bullshit, said we were his favorite passengers as we left.
I guess around Orlando more people wear masks; but there was little mask wearing at Clearwater.
I don’t wear a mask and haven’t. I also don’t participate with hoaxes. Just saying.
Thanks for sharing your story–that bit about the Pink Floyd song lyrics “Breathe, breathe in the air” from masked singers made me laugh. Good for you on not participating in hoaxes:)
Eliza – that is too funny – School of Rock singing a Pink Floyd song about breathing the air – while not being able to fully breathe the air!
I guess our different experiences come down to what part of the State one visits and what airports we traveled through. We were in Delray Beach.
I have lived in Florida since 1972. As with the rest of the country, most corporations have to ride the fence, so they are continuing to make their employees where masks. Trust me, most don’t want to. Publix has a large retiree demographic, so they will be one of the last to fold I believe.
Thankfully, some retail corporations are advising to go by the guidelines of their state. My husband’s and my employer and my daughter’s have gone that route (vaccinated-no mask, but you can’t ask if they’ve been vaccinated-applies to customers and associates); sadly my son (who has had the worst time with the mask mandate) has not yet.
Amy2 – that does makes sense – corporations having to ride the fence. And I agree that most employees would rather not continue.
As to Publix, although we were a couple of just a small handful of maskless individuals, we did not receive any “looks” or “comments” from anyone – and that was good.
Hopefully your son’s employer will soon adopt the same stance as the rest of your family’s employers.
We went to Publix in Naples last October. EVERYONE wore masks. We didn’t. I saw one man without a mask and commented about seeing his nice face. He said that he was in the store for someone else on a tight timeline and had forgot his mask. Oh well. We didn’t wear masks anywhere, once more. Anywhere we go we don’t wear masks. Pretty much no one says anything.
Last week, I picked up the wrapper for an N95 mask. The instructions on the back were enlightening to say the least. Quote:
Warning!! This product is only used for respiratory protection against particles. Misuse can cause illness or death.
On the front: “Prevent mist haze.” “Prevent droplets”. But politicians and bureaucrats insist we wear face diapers.
Brilliant ideas,love it,?
Scathingley brilliant
It’s a cute gimmick, and I realize it’s all in good fun, but I do hope this all comes to an end soon. I look forward to the return of normal where we all can go about our business as we wish, and that includes seeing those who wear masks, and were doing so long before this covid shyte, go about there day without getting the scorn of the mask-less. Some wear a mask because they want to, and some wear a mask because they have to, and it’s non of my business either way. We need to remember that covid is not the only medical issue out there.
Good for him!!
I don’t see it standing up to court challenge
Owner gave away that it’s a revenge move
““It’s about time that the proponents of these ineffective government measures start paying for the collateral damage they have collectively caused”
Now, if he had just phrased it in practical business terms, it might stand up
“We constantly have to ask the customers to repeat themselves because their voices are muffled by the masks. Repeat questioning takes time, and – as anyone in the business world knows – time is money.“
Done …. legally defensible
BRAVO ! BRAVO !
CHRIS CASTLEMAN?? ??
Your sense of reasoning is brilliantly expressed!
My “honorable mentions” list for those who have contributed to a soon to be mask free society:
Governor Ron DeSantis for showing other states how it’s done.
Senator Rand Paul for cornering weasel Fauci in his hypocrisy SEVERAL times.
Tucker Carlson for speaking out about de-masking our children.
There are many others but these were my top three that also got national news coverage over and above the Facebook, Youtube, Twitter nazis.
Psychosis has its price.
There’s a real public safety reason for merchants to ban masks.
Masks virtually make security cameras worthless.
In the real world identification of murderers, thieves, other perps, is virtually impossible because of masks concealing their identities.
