FWIW – bullfights are a savage & brutal spectacle & I think the Spaniards will never stop doing it – now & then the bull gets a horn into his tormentor before he’s killed –

The incident happened as Aparicio was attempting the faena, a series of passes in which a torero uses his cape and sword before delivering the estocada, or death blow. The bull immediately withdrew its horn from Aparicio’s neck, and Aparicio attempted to leave the bullring, but lost consciousness and had to be carried out. Two other matadors stepped in and slew Opiparo.
The result of the injury was a punctured tongue, a fractured hard palate, a fractured upper maxilla and several broken teeth. Doctors at Las Ventas operated on Aparicio for an hour and performed an emergency tracheotomy to stabilize him.
He was transferred to the 12 October Hospital in Madrid where he underwent six hours of surgery to repair his fractured jaw. He left the intensive care unit on 24 May after recovering from surgery. He went back to the hospital in critical condition on 28 May due to acute respiratory failure that required ventilation through a breathing tube due to swelling from an infection. He left the hospital on 6 June after recovering once again.”

As someone with a grandson that I raised heading into the Air Force, this rings true.
The painting is Breaking Home Ties, by Norman Rockwell, on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post in 1954. A father and his teenage son sit side by side on the running board of a battered farm truck, waiting at a railway stop. A single track runs along the bottom of the picture. A ticket pokes from the boy’s pocket. His suitcase is stacked with schoolbooks and wears a “State U” pennant. The train is coming to carry him off to college, away from home, for the first time in his life.
Everything is in the way they sit.
The son sits upright, scrubbed and dressed in his best, eyes fixed on the horizon, on the track, on the future rushing toward him. He is already half gone. For him that train is the beginning of everything.
His father sits beside him in worn work clothes and scuffed boots, looking the other way, down the line, as if he cannot bear to watch it arrive. The same train means the opposite thing to him. For the son it is the start of a life. For the father it is the day the house grows quieter, the chair at the table sits empty, and the person he built his world around walks out into a life that no longer has him at its centre.
Look at his hands. He is holding two hats. His own battered one, and resting on top of it, his son’s crisp new one, held carefully together, because it is the last small thing he can still do for the boy…
And then the dog, its head laid in the son’s lap, gazing up, refusing to look away. Rockwell knew exactly what that was for: “The father couldn’t show how he felt about the boy’s leaving,” he said. “The dog did.”
It has moved people for 70 years because every leaving is a beginning for one person and an ending for another. The child steps out into the world, as they should. And someone stays behind, watching them go, and loving them enough to let them go anyway…

a kind and peaceful face, I remember it from childhood
growing up until age 10 in SE PA farmland, there was a pasture fence up the hill with cows on one side and an apple tree straddling it
the cows would come to feed on the apples and when there were no more fallen apples on their side, we’d pull and hand them some from our side of the fence
we managed not to get bitten, and they were kind and placid animals
up the hill was a barn-and-pen arrangement with Ajax the Bull inside … he was a different story
we’d climb the wall and watch him but didn’t attempt any interaction
had a ring in his nose, which I’m reminded of when I see today’s teens and their nose piercings

This week Bret Baier gave president Zelensky an interview for Fox News. He decided beforehand the questions without considering how to respond to the likely answers . When Bret asked about the numbers killed in the war, Zelensky said some 50 000 Ukrainians and 700 000 Russians.
If Bret did his homework he would have noticed with every exchange it was documented that it was around 1000 fallen Ukrainian soldiers to between 300 and 400 Russians. Bret did not bring this evidence and call out Zelensky for misleading the public and his people.
This is one of the reasons I stopped watching Fox News some ten years ago. CNN openly hates president Trump but Fox pretends it is a conservative news outlet. For this reason they are more dangerous than the liberal/communist mainstream outlets constantly attacking Trump.
I have just noticed a headline from Fox, which I am not going to listen to that Iran is likely behind the water systems cyber attack in 7 states. Is this in 7 blue states, the same states that are happy to deflect attention from the corruption, fraud and mismanagement they want to deny? I hope CTH will have enough information soon to expose what is really happening and behind all this. It is kind of like climate alarmists in Europe blaming the fires in France on climate change while the authorities are now saying that 9 out of 10 fires have been caused by arson and 162 have been arrested. Will all the media who spread the climate change lie now apologize on their front pages?

Hallmark Romantic Movie || They Tried to Untangle Their Hearts — But Love Won | Based On True Story
For two years the area of the left flank of the Union line on Little round top has been closed as the park service made lots of changes and “improvements”. I like the much improved walking trail but the best thing they have done was clear the west face of Little Round Top to look much more like it did when the battle was fought because that west face of the hill had been logged and there were only a few saplings and wild grass on that face.
They also and put up interpretive signs that give visitors a much better idea of what happened there on 2 July, 1863. More than once during my visits other visitors saw me there with a book in hand and came up to me and asked “what happened here” and I would do my best to explain.
What I hate though about their “improvement” is that they have put up fences that channel people along their trails so people can only see much of the ground where the fighting took place but not walk that ground and walking the ground of the terrain where they fought is how a real civil war history buff gets the real feel for the tactical situations.
