After watching political narrative engineering for years, this attempt was predictable. The reason why CTH maintains a “pinned thread” on the White House COVID-19 response from January and February of 2020 is specifically because we knew the narrative engineers would attempt to weaponize the politics of the virus later in the election year.
We knew the narrative engineers would flip the script. Today they did exactly that.
The day after President Trump established a “coronavirus taskforce”, on January 31, 2020, the Washington Post published an article saying that President Trump was hyping the concern over COVID-19 in response to him shutting down travel and implementing major restrictions:
The Trump administration on Friday dramatically escalated its response to the fast-spreading coronavirus epidemic by announcing quarantines and major travel restrictions that officials said were meant to limit contagion.
The White House declared a “public health emergency” and — beginning on Sunday at 5 p.m. — will bar non-U.S. citizens who recently visited China from entering the United States, subject to a few exemptions. Shortly after the White House announced the new restrictions and said there were six confirmed U.S. cases, a seventh case was confirmed in Santa Clara County, Calif.
[…] “This is a serious health situation in China, but I want to emphasize that the risk to the American public currently is low,” said Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Our goal is to do all we can do to keep it that way.”
[…] Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that the process for testing people for the new strain of coronavirus had proved very imprecise so far and that this is one of the reasons for the aggressive U.S. response. (link)
Within hours of President Trump’s decision to restrict travel from China on Jan. 31, top Democrats and media figures immediately derided the move as unnecessary and xenophobic.
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden led the way, quickly attacking what he called Trump’s “record of hysteria, xenophobia and fear-mongering” after the travel restrictions were announced. A Jan. 31 article in The New York Times quoted epidemiologist Dr. Michael Osterholm as saying that Trump’s decision to restrict travel from China was “more of an emotional or political reaction.”
In March, another Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. Bernie Sanders, conspicuously insisted at a Fox News town hall that he wouldn’t consider closing the U.S. border to prevent the spread of coronavirus, before condemning what he called the president’s xenophobia. The overwhelming narrative was that President Trump’s proactive measures were fear-mongering and intended to produce panic.
Now we fast-forward to today… predictably, as if on the anticipated cue…. the exact same outlet, the Washington Post, now says President Trump “downplayed” the danger.
[…] At that time, Trump was telling the nation that the virus was no worse than a seasonal flu, predicting it would soon disappear and insisting that the U.S. government had it totally under control. It would be several weeks before he would publicly acknowledge that the virus was no ordinary flu and that it could be transmitted through the air. (read more)
So in January, February and March, 2020, the best political attack position was to say that President Trump was overreacting and hyping panic. Now in September 2020 the best political attack position is to say he down-played the danger.
This was as predictable as the sunrise.
The media hype around COVID-19 was/is a political weapon first and foremost. The leftists and their media scribes had a long-term plan to use the virus as a political weapon based on any position that President Trump would have taken.
The Bob Woodward book is simply an exhibition in this type of purposeful narrative engineering. However, the American electorate are not stupid.
[DETAILS HERE]
I have indexed the CDC COVID press briefing transcripts that begin on 1/16/2020 and the theme in those conferences, at least during January and February, is that this disease is not a threat to the general public. Redfield, Messonier, et al, regularly conclude that this new virus poses no threat to the general public.
And these soft sell opinions tossed to the press continued through at least March 1, based on the statement from Dr. Messonier: “CDC’s perspective, I would again reiterate that while the overall risks to Americans are low, we recognize that these populations of people who are medically fragile would be at higher risk if there is transmission in their communities.”
So was the CDC misleading the press and public as to the seriousness of the risk, or is it more logical to separate the seriousness of the disease from the risk to the public.?
Everybody needs to be clear that Dr. Messonier was right — the disease almost exclusively attacked the extreme elderly or otherwise seriously compromised individual immune systems. There was never ANY doubt about this; that is why the President was optimistic throughout about beating the disease.
But the President was tricked into depending publically upon Dr. Fauci, who was never right, and was merely an advocate for treating every case as deadly (though it isn’t, for 98 to 99% of cases) and for vaccination as the only cure-all. And the President let the governors go wild, on their own (as a simple matter of states’ rights) — just as he let Mueller et al. go wild before; he didn’t want to get bogged down in the political fighting. Given the almost universal desire of everyone to overthrow him, he cannot be blamed in the slightest for being conservative toward the disease, while being honestly dismissive of its effects upon the vast majority of people.
But now, people need to realize the time for any and all general lockdowns is over. People need to start feeling ashamed to wear masks to do their business, and their daily living.
“But the President was tricked…..”
Bingo. Unfortunately. Its sad but true.
I have found this to (generally) be true… “an honest person is often fooled”. That is likely because that honest person hopes that honesty is present.
Have not worn one… Will not wear one. End of story.
Exactly…great last thought-
The disease was needed to be taken serious and yes the risk to the public is not as serious.

Tucker Carlson just stated it was Ms Lindsey that brokered the meeting with Bob Woodward. Any doubts where Graham stands in regards to President Trump. He is a fluffer.
LambGraham called 2 witnesses while head of Senate Judiciary Committee. He led interference for both when they testified. His first question to both, “If you knew what you know now, would you have signed off on the FISA warrant without verification?”
What baffles me , why does Hannity sing his praises when he has him on his show virtually every night?
Yesterday President Trump in Florida called the great Senator from South Carolina. I don’t get it.
Fluffer?
Is that some kind of snake?
So, Tucker just announced that Lindsey Graham set up the interviews between President Trump and Woodard?
Graham even sat in on the first interview. Why does this scenario remind me about the story of a frog and a scorpion crossing a pond?
The President is extremely savvy, so he may have had his own motives for going into the belly of the beast.
As I commented upthread, Woodward was Naval intelligence. He was part of the Watergate frame job on Nixon, so maybe our President has another idea in mind here.
Excellent point.
Mizz Lindsey is all hat and no cattle.
IMO, the Trump/Woodward deal is just one way Trump further galvanizes his supporters. I am not concerned about it in the least. The very fact there are democrats thinking about voting for Trump are not going to be thinking about anything Woodward has to say in terms of their voting Trump.
They are not looking for reasons not to vote Trump. They are thinking of reasons why they are going to vote Trump.
Excerpt:
Fauci made the comments while being interviewed by John Roberts on Fox News Wednesday.
“I didn’t get any sense that he was distorting anything. In my discussions with him, they were always straightforward about the concerns that we had,” Fauci said to Roberts.
Snip
I don’t recall anything that was any kind of gross distortion in things that I spoke to him about,” Fauci concluded. “I don’t think he ever distorted things that I spoke to him about.”
He went on to say he was comfortable with how the president presented the threat of the pandemic to the public, but added that he was a “small frame in the big picture of what goes on.”
Fauci also went on to dispute comments attributed to him in Woodward’s reporting.”

Well.. that’s plain enough! Thanks.
“Hyping” and “Downplaying” are two edges on the same blade of a double-edged sword meant to destroy the President.
“Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’ And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. ‘Reality control’, they called it: in Newspeak, ‘doublethink’.”
“Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.”
― George Orwell, 1984
It is actually known as “Perception Management”… and it is BIG business!
Interesting that in Tucker’s latest show he states that Lindsey who “brokered” the interview between PDJT and Bobbie.
What’s even more interesting is PDJT’s high praise of Lindsey at the Protect the Environment event in Jupiter, FL. PDJT at times has been known to give high praise to others for specific accomplishments, which of course is taken as high praise to the individual.
Two things…
One:
Everyone knows a real leader always keeps people calm. It’s why we practice fire drills in grade school to calmly walk in a line out of the building. I don’t need to go into more detail on this concept ….it’s common sense.
Two:
The problem the left will have in their Covid smears is that Trump actually did follow the science advice from experts (wrong or ever changing as it was). He put Fauci, Birx, CDC, etc out front in press conferences for months on end. There was no significant difference in what they said vs what he said as far as seriousness of Covid or actions Americans should take dealing with it. Fauci has even given Trump praise in the past for actions like travel ban saying the President’s actions saved lives.
They can’t call Trump a liar without calling all the experts a liar. Won’t work.
Thank you SD, and, ADREM, for pointing out the contradictions to us.
My, fellow branch clingers know this. However, this is another round in our magazine of knowledge for the those waiting to be converted.
I am informed, I am informing others, and we are ready to saddle up
Thank you for your foresight.
When this started I responded to a poster who was concerned this was going to be a legitimately fast spreading highly deadly disease killing most people got it and I said then this was a nothing burger that would be overhyped just like swine flu was. By comparison swine flu was far more deadly. I knew it would be overhyped but truly had no idea the overhyped proportions this would take or how it would be weaponized to such a degree internationally.
Truly this has been a mind blowing experience.
There will be no bombshells or smoking guns on Trump because he is so open and vocal on his true thoughts with direct conversation with the people.

Which Arab country is next?
Just when I think these people can’t possibly sink any lower into depravity and evil, they prove they have not sunk low enough yet.
I agree, but it’s only September… They still have ways to sink further. And they will, no doubt.
I would like to remind everyone…. what’s not in the news….
Biden China..Biden China.. Biden China..
The virus is winding down.. hospitalizations are down.. deaths are down.. this is not going to work..
The Democrats are getting more and more bizarre… so Schiff with Rusia.. another woman with a rape charge.. just think only 55 more days to go… anything to provide cover from
Biden China Biden China..
Does anyone remember seeing a comment in here last week linking to something about Chinas efforts to spread fear in Italy through social media? Something about how they were spreading all these rumors, videos, etc….in Italy, very early on, about what they were doing as far as lockdowns in China?
Yes, I think it was all of Europe, not just Italy.
any recollection of where/what/who the link or info was?
I’m still waiting for the Dems to use OPERATION CRIMSON CONTAGION to attack Trump.
The pic that Sundance posted up there is terrifying. How many people in that room are actively trying to subvert P Trump? More accurately, is there ANYONE in there on PTs side, and our side?
Azar nixed the Emergency Use Authorization for HCQ which had to be done in order to fast-track a vaccine. He is 100% sold out to big pharma.
Redfield? Running the CDC which has been pushing fake news since the beginning.
And of course Fauci. Lifelong fraud.
These people care nothing about saving lives. They care nothing about wrecking the economy.
God help us.
dawg… These people care nothing about saving lives. They care nothing about wrecking the economy. Truth!
