I live in AZ, though not in the southern part.
I was driving back to my home from a trip into Phoenix last week, at night.
At one point, I was coming up to a unpaved pull-off alongside the road, not even going the speed limit, and had 4-5 cars getting ready to overtake me.
My eye caught a most disturbing sight. In that pull-out was a white, extended cab, older pick-up, that was parked at a peculiar angle — in that it appeared that the driver had purposely positioned the pick-up so that what I saw next was sure to get someone to stop.
What looked to me to be a young girl suddenly hung out the passenger side, backwards (holding onto the door handle) striking a pose I can only describe as mimicking an old Las Vegas neon sign:
One leg was posed up in the air — she was wearing short white cowboy boots with fringe on them.
Prior to that, the most startling thing I saw on the trip was a small bobcat mesmerized by my headlights.
Anyway, speaking of Vegas, near where I live are plenty of Nevada casino hotels. These places have been ghost towns for nearly a year.
However, I went into one the other day to make a little wager, and the hotel registration line was practically out the door — with Spanish speaking people.
What a gig for these casino owners, eh? They get occupancy — leading to money spent in their establishments — via checks from the government, IMHO.
