President Trump Remarks Departing Joint Base Andrews – Video and Transcript…

Amid increasing speculation that New York will be quarantined to stop people from departing the metropolitan area, President Trump answers journalist questions from joint base Andrews prior to departure. [Video and Transcript Below]

.

[Transcript] – Q Thank you, Mr. President. Just a quick clarification on the total quarantine you’re talking about for New York City. Would you —

THE PRESIDENT: Well, we’re looking at it. We’re looking at it, and we’ll be making a decision. A lot of the states that aren’t infected, that don’t have a big problem, they’ve asked me if I’d look at it. So we’re going to look at it. And it will be for a short period of time, if we do it at all.

Q Would it be —

THE PRESIDENT: It’ll be New York.

Q Would you call up the National Guard?

THE PRESIDENT: It’ll be New York, parts of Connecticut, and parts of New Jersey.

Q And then, do you close down the subway? Do you close down the bridges, the tunnels?

THE PRESIDENT: No, we won’t do that. We’re talking about leaving New York. Leaving New York. They go to Florida, and a lot of people don’t want that. So we’ll see what happens. We’re going to make a decision.

Q Would you use the military for that, sir? Would you call up the Guard?

THE PRESIDENT: We’re not going to need much. The people of New York, they understand it better than anybody, and they’ll be great. I’ll speak to the governor about it later.

Q Thank you.

Q Can you speak a little bit about the congressional oversight? Can you assure the American people that the money will be appropriately —

THE PRESIDENT: Yeah, we have a great oversight — a great oversight committee. We have a lot of people watching. It’s a wonderful thing we’ve done for the workers and for the citizens. It’s really, potentially, $6.2 trillion. And a lot of people are going to work, and it’ll bring back the economy, I think, very fast. Okay?

Q But what do you think about Democrats criticizing you that you’re overriding this congressional oversight?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, they couldn’t be criticizing me because we got a unanimous vote. How can they possibly criticize me? They just gave me — she’s saying they’re criticizing me, the Democrats. Why did they vote for it? We got a unanimous vote.

Q Thank you, Mr. President.

After President Trump mused about the quarantine he might put in place for NY, I noticed the news coming out of NYC and the state today, was that there was a “decline” in the numbers testing positive and not as many deaths. Did President Trump’s musings result in the “improved” status re COVID-19? If so, then President Trump should be seen as a great healer if what he says can result in the decline of cases and deaths!

Or perhaps there might just be another reason why, almost overnight, the future for the city and state is suddenly looking much brighter!

    • Of course there was an imediate decline. Funny how that works. PDJT call out these corrupt politicians and they quickly change their tune.

Eileen, I do like your “great healer” discription of PDJT’s actions. If that gets into the msm they will spin it divinely. Then again PDJT is Divinely Inspired.

“speculation that New York will be quarantined to stop people from departing the metropolitan area,”

My mother is talking on the phone with her sister. One of them heard that Gov. Cuomo is going to close all the pharmacies, forcing them to make deliveries.

On the news this morning, UBMD (University of Buffalo) is laying off employees because of decreased revenue. No regular appointments, physicals, etc.

I received a letter yesterday from my insurance carrier informing me that my primary care physician from UBMD is no longer a “participating provider”. I have seen her for the last 23 years and intend on continuing, even if it costs me more $.

Metaphor for the DNP/Democrat National Press: A man who knowingly buys and smokes a 12-pack of exploding cigars.

To the press: You tossed out a stink bomb and yelled “run” and thought it would be fun to watch and report on, effectively using your customary slant, bias and ideology-driven Progressive bigotry.

But guess what? Leadership and teamwork, combined with acute business savvy (missing in your insular world) met the challenge and we are on our way back.

America is considerably more than a country. It’s a concept, one that you never had and never will understand.

Kudos to the first person who unraveled this anagram: Pandemic=DEM Panic.

One final thought: Part of the reason Trish Reagan was terminated may have been her view that Wuhan Chinese Virus was being used as an impeachment tool by the Democrats. But the real, deep-down reason was that viewers were abandoning the now partially compromised Tucker Carlson and switching to Trish.

Cut the cable several years ago, so I don’t watch FNC or any other. But every clip I’ve seen online recently of Tucker is hard-hitting. Pray tell, in what way is he “now partially compromised.”?

Honest, open question, not a challenge.

I didn’t know Tucker was partially compromised at all. I haven’t watched in several months since we do not have cable and don’t watch much television. We get our news online, but I don’t usually look for Tucker specifically. So I’m curious.

This is what the (currently theoretical) Federal quarantine is about.

New Yorkers have been flooding Florida, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, other New England states, and probably other areas as well. De Santos (Florida) told them to stay in their residences for two weeks. Baker (Massachusetts) just did the same. Raimondo (Rhode Island) set up armed National Guard checkpoints.

There are several irritated governors and residents (myself included) who are asking why our communities should be dealing with an influx of New Yorkers, some of whom are likely to be infected, at a time when our local food/supply distribution chains and healthcare systems are also under strain. In essence, these summer residents creating placing summer-time resource demands during the off-season; these demands could not be met even under normal circumstances, and certainly cannot now. For example. many restaurants are not even open this time of year, and would not be normally until around Memorial day.

I am not saying such a quarantine is the right answer, or even whether it should be an answer, but that is the underlying problem which needs to be solved.

I hear you. We have the same issue here on the Oregon Coast, where all the liberals left Portland and Eugene last week to flock to the small rural towns all up and down the coast. It’s being dealt with finally on the local level, but not before they depleted many of our supplies.

      • We have a little bit of the same problem here where I live in Colorado.

Many of our business’s are seasonal and our community is just not prepared for this off season surge of people.

The people who own summer homes do not understand that when they show up during peak tourist season the community has been working hard to get ready for them and that we do not live all year round like they find us when they come to play and recreate.

We are more than happy to have them when we are ready for them but our very small towns are not prepared for them to just show up by the hundreds or by the thousands suddenly.

It is a lot like having all of your family show up suddenly one week early in December instead of at Christmas when you have done all of the shopping and cleaning and are prepared for everyone.

But yes. I don’t mean to pick on New Yorkers, nor is the problem isolated to certain states or regions as buckweaver27 highlighted. This is the kind of “big-picture” problem that established protocols and guidelines would help to mitigate.

Important to remember why we have all of these food and supply shortages to begin with. People basically were told a modern day plague was coming their way and they panicked and continue to panic. Would city people be flocking to the suburbs or out of state if they weren’t being put in lockdown?

The solutions seem to be making the situation worse. When you have to consider calling out the national guard to enforce these measures, you may need to rethink the original strategy.

Here in NY, the “rules” are in constant flux almost daily. I suppose I could safely refer to them as approaching “draconian”, with “talk” by local and state politicians uttering the word “months”.

So under these circumstances, you really cannot fault people to “get it while you can” because the “cure” is becoming worse than the disease.

    • “ influx of New Yorkers..” It produces a sour feeling in South Florida where local residents are trying hard to comply with harsh self- discipline to stop this spreading disease. Snow birds from the Northeast arrived in October, months ago. They do every year in many ‘co ndo-communities’.What is annoying, is the sight of a New York group of youngsters in an open convertible with NY plates, buzzing around a nearly deserted road..ignoring the masked locals that are not so cavalier. Just because Grandma and Grandpa have a condo with a pool and air mattresses to sleep on, doesn’t mean snot-nosed kids and grandkids are welcome. They giggle about sneaking out of New York to potentially bring disease by picking their noses while visiting a free week ar Granny’s. Not the slightest concerned about what domino effect of death they may bring to a helpless Granny after they’ve gone. Rant over.

I’d like someone to ask PDJT what he will consider doing in Governors and Mayors continue with their lockdowns despite there being no medical data to support the lockdowns in those regions?

This is past time for the DOJ to seek injunctive relief for people being forbidden to work and earn a living and having their constitutional rights suspended indefinately.

Important to always remember that America was founded on tasking risks. We work when others head for safety nets. We fight when others cower in fear. We put liberty ahead of the state telling us what we can and cannot do. Do we really want to set a precedent that whenever an elected official feels the need to tell you to stay inside your home until further notice that we all just consent to that? God I hope not.

Incendently, where has the ACLU been during all of this? Yeah, they raised a fuss about what Rhode Island did, but it’s been crickets from them so far. Likely because they agree with the citizenry being under the thumb of big government.

While we have a number of organizations on the right who are good at fighting for religious and 2nd amendment rights, we really lack having legal groups on our side fighting for liberty issues. There should be dozens of lawsuits filed already.

I have to say that this Globalist Deep State Black Op has many different narratives all working in concert…the problem they have is that Obamacare bankrupted hospitals nationwide and H1N1 response was lackluster with over 17k dead…

won’t know Chinese Virus death count to next year but so far the effect on world has been very close to Event 2O1 preplanning but 45 has taken several measures that confront the narratives.

Most importantly, the scale of testing is INCREDIBLE…by Monday, there will be 2 million tested and a true death rate will be known…

45 went with PRIVATE INDUSTRY over GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER!

      • mimbler says:

Well, the death rate numbers will be -more- accurate, but until they deploy the test that tells if you have had the virus and recovered, we won’t know how many have had it and recovered on their own. Once they can sample the population for that, they will have fairly accurate numbers.

Response to CharterOakie. An honest response to an open question. No challenge perceived.

Take a look at your message: “You don’t watch FNC [Fox News Channel]”, at least for several years. It’s very challenging – possibly impossible – to know the full content of Tucker Carlson’s show if you don’t watch it, as I have done for more than several years.

When you see a clip of Tucker Carlson’s show, you get 30 seconds, maybe a minute. That’s not the show, the whole show.

You get what the producers and executives want you to see. Included within that group are Rupert Murdoch’s sons (not Rupert, and not Roger Ailes), now joined by Paul Ryan and Donna Brazille. Are you thinking that their views are going to slant right?

The content of the Tucker Carlson show has changed, not dramatically, but enough so that you understand that some of the segments have been deftly manipulated “left”.

So one night, bored with Tucker and his guest being ultra “fair and balanced”, I switched over to Trish (same time slot) and discovered a commentator who was always refreshingly “on point”.

There was a time when Fox News was clearly different than the alphabet networks and their non-stop gaslighting. They still have some warriors, but that number is shrinking. Trish is my current real world example.

Watch Tucker Carlson’s show for a week, two if you can handle all of it, versus simply clips. Then tell me if you still have a question about my opinion. No challenge. Just an open suggestion.

Agreed, Bethany. My husband and I noticed the difference in Tucker’s show about a month ago. We began watching Trish Reagan’s Show by accident, as she followed Lou Dobbs. We were very pleased with her show and often watched her instead of Tucker. Now, we don’t watch any Fox News Shows after Lou Dobbs Show. Lou’s show is now showing at 5pm here in Tampa so we are having to get used to that too.
