Pelosi Suffers Massive Political Hit – Abandons House Scheme – Announces Acceptance of Senate Bill…

You can tell when Speaker Pelosi recognizes a political backlash for her manipulative schemes because it’s the only time she blitzes the media. After suffering a very large political hit, beyond the capability of the media to defend, Pelosi said today the House will take up the Senate coronavirus bill.

The writing was on the wall late yesterday as people started digging into the 1,400 page House proposal and exposing all of the far-left ideological efforts within it. Billions were earmarked for nonsense progressive projects and the House scheme was fraught with social engineering that had nothing to do with assisting workers and businesses.

Even Pelosi’s own party started telling leadership they had gone way too far with the assembled list of nonsense legislation. The speaker recognized if she did not quickly make a tactical retreat her party would be crushed by exposure of the brazen politics they were attempting. The reach was so extreme, the media could not protect her.

In an effort to save a horrid face, the speaker was forced to blitz the media alone while all other house members watched to see how she could recover. Whenever Pelosi stands alone, that’s the “tell” for the size of the political miscalculation.  Pelosi announced she was abandoning plans for the 1,400 page House scheme. Now the senate work continues…

WASHINGTON DC – Congressional negotiators signaled Tuesday they are likely hours away from clinching a bipartisan agreement on a nearly $2 trillion emergency stimulus package — capping five days of frenetic talks over a response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are expected to announce an agreement later Tuesday, under immense pressure from President Donald Trump, a dire economic outlook and the growing number of Americans losing their livelihoods amid the crisis.

The Senate’s lead negotiators — Mnuchin, Schumer, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and White House legislative affairs director Eric Ueland — have spent most of Tuesday huddling behind closed doors as they finalized policy details and legislative text. If those last-minute talks are successful, lawmakers say they could vote within hours.

“The timeline is as soon as possible,” Ueland said leaving a more than hourlong meeting with McConnell, Mnuchin and a half-dozen GOP senators who have been heavily involved in the rescue package.

“We’re trying to finalize all the documents, going through a lot of complicated issues, and we’re making a lot of progress,” Mnuchin said, flanked by Rep. Mark Meadows, who was recently tapped as Trump’s next chief of staff.

Schumer took to the Senate floor on Tuesday to declare that senators were “on the 2-yard line” and said there were no remaining disagreements that couldn’t be resolved over the next few hours. (read more)

    • That is $2,000,000,000,000 folks, just count all those zeros.
This is a $4461.31 cost to every tax payer in the USA if this bill go through.
According to the most recent tax data, 138.3 million taxpayers reported earning approximately $9.03 trillion in adjusted gross income and paying $1.23 trillion in federal income tax. There are approximately 245.3 million adults in the Unites States.
Notice, we send 1.23 trillion per year to the government right now. How long will it take to pay this porkulous bill off??

I guess I would rather take my chances and not owe the government another four and a half grand…but that is just me.
This is the worst decision our President has made to date, in my opinion.

I know people in NY who test positive for Coronavirus. One of them has pre-existing conditions that make this a real concern.

I agree with the President that 15 days or thereabouts is an appropriate response time, in an attempt to slow the spread of Covid-19. People who stay home that long will then know whether or not they have it, so they can take the appropriate action.

One appropriate action at that point is to go back to work if they remain well, and practice frequent handwashing and other preventative measures in order to stay that way.

Because so many these days are fixated on fake news, which has greatly distorted what the President has been saying all along, all this panic and unnecessary speculation that America is closed for many months has led to the wild market fluctuations that make this bailout seem necessary. I’m sure that Deep state planned it this way.

If Americans don’t have 15-30 days expenses set aside in a rainy day fund until they can get back to work, then this country has a lot more problems than a virus. And most businesses should be able to weather this storm, as long as there’s an end in sight.

          • And why should I be required to pay for the of 78% of hand to mouth workers. Shite happens, like this and any other number of lifes problems. NO ONE rolled out the red carpet for me when I found myself in a jam, I had to work thru it. And so should the rest of this country.
Just because we have perhaps the most corrupt government in history who are proving all they can do is pander to the vote and find creative ways to skim money from government programs like this porkulous package, still does not make it right or a sound decision.

Slight adjustment in the math: $2T / 138.3M = $14,461.32. That’s $14.46K based on numbers cited above, not $4.46K so it’s worse than you thought. Engineer here.

Trillion is 12 zeros, Billion is 9 zeros and Million is 6 zeros after number cited.

President Trump’s new tariffs on China are around $350B per year so that’s $1T every 3 years. That’s a lot of cash and I’m sure China is not happy about it.

Our VSG is resetting the trade/economic agreements that were set up as are a result of post WW2 rebuilding. He is essentially doing an audit on a Global scale. Looking around for what makes sense and what no longer makes sense. For instance, as he says, “Why are we paying for Germany’s defense against Russia when Germany is buying oil from Russia? Doesn’t make sense. Why doesn’t Germany take care of their own defense now. Or at the very least, pony up the 2% of their GDP towards NATO as all NATO Nations agreed to when NATO started up.” When he asks countries to contribute, they have no problem complying. When questioned by our VSG they say, “The only reason we haven’t paid is because no one asked us to before.”

No more free rides on American taxpayer’s backs (taxpayer includes workers and businesses who all pay taxes). There’s a new Sheriff in town and he’s looking out for all the citizens of his town who been taken to the cleaners for too long. Some call it racist, we taxpayers call it America First. This doesn’t mean we are not charitable, but as the saying goes, charity starts at home.

I am so far faring a bit better than most becasue having been part of a virtual design team for about a year and a half. So the planning, selections and specs get done by different people working on virtual presentation bords and shared spec websites.

We never see each other. Just not sure how many projects will still be in the pipelie. I have one proposal that should go through, but who knows.

Do you ever participate in design/build teams, so a project can be packaged and ready to go when they let us out?

I have never participated in a formal design or build team. Of course, my advice has been utilized by small scale builders, home and business owners as to the flooring ends of their projects. Folks today are way less informed about flooring than they were 30 years ago. Nowadays, almost no one is aware of their carpets fiber material. Telling me you got a good deal on a carpet is meaningless if you don’t know what the fiber is. Telling me you got a great deal on a car is silly if you don’t know whether you bought a Yugo, Toyota or Mercedes. I might be interested is participating in a design/build team if I knew more? Ad Rem would probably give you my personal email address if you wanted to discuss things offline which is fine by me!

                  So agree about specifications!!!

I normally work in hospitality or senior living as just part of a design team member so it is a bit different.

I work on everything from 20/30K SF to close to a million, I just thought you might be able to find someone in your area…a housing developer possibly who might employ you to estimate, value engineer and then build for them after this crappy situation is over. That way you might be able to keep a float financially and start a team working earlier than you expect now.

It never hurts to place a phone call. I am working on projects still that were by cold calls and odd old referrals!

We need some creative way to stand in the gap so to speak.

Call your old contacts up and let them know you can assist them in the design phase to confirm estimates for them…you never know! Most never have that in-house expertise, thus they are always waiting for outside bids before an estimate is done. They may employ you per job, just to complete a full construction estimate for their clients.

You might also see if there are any construction managers in the commercial field in your area. With a set of plans you can do quantity takeoffs all day long and never leave the house!

Let me know if you catch a fish! 👍 🏡

Doug, we need to send a strong message to Congress that our tax money should go to keep our citizens afloat. Cut back drastically on foreign aid, cut out free stuff for illegals, give employment priority to American citizens. Congress has blown millions on the Mueller/Weissmann hoax and the impeachment witch hunt. That money could have gone for states to have been better prepared for emergencies. I don’t mean to be crass or cruel but my retirement fund has taken a major hit. I don’t have lobbyist money to depend on. Unfortunately, I am supporting several illegals through my taxes. I won’t have any extra money this year, possibly for the next several years. I have children and grandchildren. They are natural American citizens. I don’t have near the problem sending money to foreign countries until they “dump” their poor on us. ironically, many sanctuary cities who passed these anti-American rules in violation of US law are now providing transportation, temporary housing and a little pocket cash to dump those that they encouraged to invade their cities but now they are unloading them on law-abiding communities (yes I’m talking about you Big Bird de Blabbing

—yes this Big BIRD’s for you!
Congress should tighten their belts—pork has to go. Every dollar added to a bill should have an identifier of which member(s) of Congress wanted it included in the legislation. If no member of Congress is willing to have the monetary request tied to his/her name for all to see, then that part must be removed from the bill. Period.
Stop throwing good money after bad. We need people back to work (I realize a lot of Democrats worked really hard to help the economy tank and unemployment skyrocket. The American people have been complacent. This time, you went too far. Only a blind fool could fail to see exactly what Fancy Nancy Pelosi and her merry band of instigators (Soros, the Squad, et al) had in mind for November. If the government is not moving along and people have not returned largely to the normalcy of mid-February, then the elections simply need to be postponed. If people aren’t working, we don’t need weeks of opportunities to vote early and often (aka the Democrat way). By Election Day, we need real election reform in place. Voter ID is critical. Democrats have proven themselves to not only know how to cheat in elections but to have put that knowledge to practice (think of 2 Florida counties).

Whatever, but I’d bet this bill is still loaded with slush and pork, just not as brazenly obvious as Pelooser’s Perfidious Porkulus.

    WINNING!!!

It is FINALLY a time for the DEMS to retreat and stay “retreated” forever. They can just fade away into the blankness of The Whig Party and The Know-Nothings.

The latter would be more appropriate! Given that their primary presidential candidate suffers obviously from Incipient Alzheimer’s they will be fading away sooner than they thought.

It’s amazing that anybody on the Democrat’s side could have ever thought Pelosi’s Green Corona Deal would ever pass?

I guess they are just that stupid and out of touch with reality.

I would offer less by going thru it and cutting out anything she wanted. Throw it right back into her face. Have Tom Cotton and others show once again her pet pork desires. Read them out and toss the papers onto the Senate floor once again. Great optics. No prisoners, we are at war with these people.

I sure hope Trump remembers Nancy’s attempt to hijack the stimulus when he debates Sleepy Joe in the fall. Tie the Pelosi albatross around Sleepy’s neck and make him wear it.

Great – but nothing ever happens to Leftists. Pelosi Galore’s mini-me, Chuck Schumer, should be in jail for directly, and by name, threatening two Supreme Court Justices on the steps of the courthouse. 24 hours later – nothing. All the outrage evaporated.

If you or I made such threats, we’d be in orange jumpsuits within minutes

How quickly can she get her members to DC in order to vote ? TX Rep Dan Crenshaw is still in Texas. https://twitter.com/DanCrenshawTX/status/1242283491880054784

They will get it done by unanimous consent which doesnt take a vote. All it takes is one dissent though to require a full vote. No worries. Nancy overplayed her hand and she knows she has lost.
