President Trump Considering “Defense Production Act” to Expand Domestic Production of U.S. Medical Needs…

The media is attempting to initiate panic about the Coronavirus in 2020 the same way the media attempted to manufacture panic about an upcoming U.S. recession in 2019.

First things first.  Earlier today Vice-President Pence announced Dr. Debbie Birx will serve as the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator. [CDC COVID-19 Resource HERE]

Dr./Ambassador Birx is about as bureaucratically deep state as you can get.

Coming from the State Department Dr. Birx has led the U.S. effort to eradicate HIV/AIDS effort and has a strong pedigree as a 30-year global health official, scientist and physician:

[…] Ambassador Birx is a scientist, physician, and mom, with three decades of public health expertise, including virulent diseases, their vaccines, and interagency coordination. She has been utilizing the best science to change the course of the HIV pandemic and bring the pandemic under control, community by community and country by country.

Her focus over three decades has been on HIV/AIDS immunology, vaccine research, and global health. She has developed and patented vaccines, including leading one of the most influential HIV vaccine trials in history. Three different Administrations across both political parties have relied on her knowledge and judgement. (link)

Additionally Vice President Pence added Steven Mnuchin, Secretary of the Treasury; Dr. Jerome Adams, Surgeon General of the United States; and Larry Kudlow, Director of the National Economic Council to the Coronavirus Task Force.

Members of the President’s Coronavirus Task Force:

  • Vice President Mike Pence
  • Secretary Alex Azar, Department of Health and Human Services
  • Dr. Ambassador Debbie Birx, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator
  • Robert O’Brien, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs
  • Dr. Robert Redfield, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health
  • Dr. Jerome Adams, Surgeon General of the United States
  • Deputy Secretary Stephen Biegun, Department of State
  • Ken Cuccinelli, Acting Deputy Secretary, Department of Homeland Security
  • Steven Mnuchin, Secretary of the Treasury
  • Larry Kudlow, Director of the National Economic Council
  • Joel Szabat, Acting Under Secretary for Policy, Department of Transportation
  • Matthew Pottinger, Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor
  • Rob Blair, Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff
  • Joseph Grogan, Assistant to the President and Director of the Domestic Policy Council
  • Christopher Liddell, Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Coordination
  • Derek Kan, Executive Associate Director, Office of Management and Budget

It was also reported today that President Trump is considering industrial mandates to medical manufacturers as a stop-gap measure to force them into production of medical equipment needed in the supply chain:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s administration is considering invoking special powers through a law called the Defense Production Act to rapidly expand domestic manufacturing of protective masks and clothing to combat the coronavirus in the United States, two U.S. officials told Reuters.

The use of the law, passed by Congress in 1950 at the outset of the Korean War, would mark an escalation of the administration’s response to the outbreak. The virus first surfaced in China and has since spread to other countries including the United States.

U.S. health officials have told Americans to begin preparing for the spread of the virus in the United States.

The law grants the president the power to expand industrial production of key materials or products for national security and other reasons. The biggest producers of face masks in the United States include 3M Corp and Honeywell International Inc.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar told lawmakers this week that the United States needs a stockpile of about 300 million N95 face masks – respiratory protective devices – for medical workers to combat the spread of the virus. The United States currently has only a fraction of that number available for immediate use, Azar testified.

[…] “Let’s say ‘Company A’ makes a multitude of respiratory masks but they spend 80% of their assembly lines on masks that painters wear and only 20% on the N95,” the White House official said. “We will have the ability to tell corporations, ‘No, you change your production line so it is now 80% of the N95 masks and 20% of the other.’”

“It allows you to basically direct things happening that need to get done,” the official added.

HHS declined to comment. DHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment. (read more)

There is a great concentration of incredible talent, knowledge and expertise in Israel including in medical and other research entities. I hope the pending vaccine prediction mentioned by “We The Peiople 2016” above comes true, it will be a great achievement and a big plus for humanity.

This news has made me somewhat more optimistic about Israel after watching Bibi Netanyahu’s interview with Mark Levin. Bibi was great as usual IMO, but his description of the present political divide in Israel and the bitterness between Benny Gantz’s Blue and White party and Bibi’s Likud party; the endless political prosecutions and other bad news gave the impression that Israel might be nearing a danger point internally. I was wondering if outside money and influence is helping to stir the political pot. They have enough external enemies to deal with…

Israeli scientists: ‘In a few weeks, we will have coronavirus vaccine’

Read the article very carefully..reasons to follow

But after scientists sequenced the DNA of the novel coronavirus causing the current worldwide outbreak, the MIGAL researchers examined it AND FOUND THAT THE POULTRY CORONAVIRUS HAS HIGH GENETIC SIMILARITY TO THE HUMAN ONE,AND IT USES THE SAME INFECTION MECHANISM, which increases the likelihood of achieving an effective human vaccine in a very short period of time, Katz said.

“All we need to do is adjust the system to the new sequence,” he said. “We are in the middle of this process, and hopefully in a few weeks we will have the vaccine in our hands. Yes, in a few weeks, if it all works, we would have a vaccine to prevent coronavirus.”
MIGAL would be responsible for developing the new vaccine, but it would then have to go through a regulatory process, including clinical trials and large-scale production, Katz said.
Akunis said he has instructed his ministry’s director-general to fast-track all approval processes with the goal of bringing the human vaccine to market as quickly as possible.

“Given the urgent global need for a human coronavirus vaccine, we are doing everything we can to accelerate development,” MIGAL CEO David Zigdon said. The vaccine could “achieve safety approval in 90 days,” he said.

It will be an oral vaccine, making it particularly accessible to the general public, Zigdon said.

    I quote again:

For the past four years, a team of MIGAL scientists has been developing a vaccine against INFECTIOUS BRONCHITIS VIRUS (IBV) WHICH CAUSES A BRONCHIAL DISEASE AFFECTING POULTRY. The effectiveness of the vaccine has been proven in preclinical trials carried out at the Veterinary Institute.

now this which I researched yesterday:

Sambucus nigra extracts inhibit infectious bronchitis virus (Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is a pathogenic chicken coronavirus) at an early point during replication.

Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is a pathogenic chicken coronavirus. Currently, vaccination against IBV is only partially protective; therefore, better preventions and treatments are needed. Plants produce antimicrobial secondary compounds, which may be a source for novel anti-viral drugs. Non-cytotoxic, crude ethanol extracts of Rhodiola rosea roots, Nigella sativa seeds, and Sambucus nigra fruit were tested for anti-IBV activity, since these safe, widely used plant tissues contain polyphenol derivatives that inhibit other viruses.

These results demonstrate that S. nigra extract can inhibit IBV at an early point in infection, probably by rendering the virus non-infectious. They also suggest that future studies using S. nigra extract to treat or prevent IBV or OTHER CORONA VIRUSES are warranted.

SAMBUCUS NIGRA is in a over the counter cold and flu medication called SAMBUCOL-Available from /iHerb/Vitacost

I’m not saying its a cure but it can help slow the viral infection

The great threat to American health and well being is not coronavirus, it is a massive parasitic organism: Federal Government.

This has passed bizarre. We now are in full blown crisis creation and exploitation mode with coronavirus. No light shines between the deep state and US Pharma/Health/Insurance companies. Their symbiosis serves now to extract as much wealth from American citizens without destroying us. Neo-Fascism.

They question now is, will we pluck ourselves of this parasite before it kills its hosts?

Here is a thought question that someone here might know the answer to: If Trump had “drained the swamp” day one, who would have been left to run the country? The corruption may be “at the top” but those “rank and file” that “just follow orders” are NOT “patriots”. True Patriots would have blown the whistle and disobeyed the orders years ago. The SES, appointees and those that allowed the corruption all need to go. So who would be left? Are there enough Americans?

Things would be just dandy and fine and yes there would be enough to handle essential government activities.
Why? Because Patriot Americans do not NEED government at all. A metric butt ton of bureaucrats can be eliminated and absolutely no regular American will notice other than maybe being able to keep more if there hard earned money.
The Bureaucracy that is the Fed Gov is a self serving entity. It exists for itself not for us.

      • Reference, previous government shut down and no panic in the streets.

        • bluecat57 says:

We’re not talking a month-long shutdown. We are talking no “high-level” bureaucrats to approve the “big stuff” – contracts, international trade, infrastructure projects.
Yes, a lot of things we don’t “need” but even cutting the “red-tape” needs approval.
          As I said, “thought question”.

      • bluecat57 says:

Agreed. I was thinking a bit more “practically” rather than “ideally”.

While “ideally” the majority of ALL governments can and should go away, practically there are laws and regulations to be “followed” (enFORCED).

That moron in Virginia was right, law-abiding Americans will follow the law no matter how wrong it is. (Or find a way to “avoid” the law. Officer, all my guns were stolen last week. See here’s the report I filed. That pile of ammo boxes? Oh, that’s just “manly” decoration.)

And practically speaking, you need to have bureaucrats to REMOVE the rules from the public record before they are “freed up to pursue success in other endeavors”. (h/t Harry of SC RINO Hunt)

According to a “source”, a “purge” of the Pentagon is imminent. What effect would that have on our military readiness? Yes, plenty of staff officers, but “all Indians, no chiefs” doesn’t work any better than “all chiefs, no Indians”.

        Your additional thoughts?

    • doohmax says:

That is exactly my argument since Day One of the Trump Administration. Obama had loaded all agencies with Obamites who knew what to do to hamper/take down any Trump initiative. My analogy is that it’s as though you’re at sea on a cruise ship. You realize the crew of the ship is evil and dangerous. As the captain, what is your option? You can’t remove the crew because then you’re dead in the water with no one to operate the ship’s systems. The only option is to begin to remove non-essential crew at first and slowly identify and remove and replace those who make the ship work. You try to insert your people in key areas as quickly as possible, but you also have to set traps to identify whose on your side and whose not. At the same time, the captain is under constant “investigation” and any misstep would result in a mutiny to remove him. Now that most of these “investigation” against Trump have failed, I think you see him becoming more aggressive at removing and replacing those working against him. The dread of the Democrat bureaucracy is a 2020 Trump re-election with the Republicans taking back the House. This would unleash Nunes, Jordan and others. This would be Armageddon for the Progressive Movement. They must prevent Trump’s re-election at all costs.

The SES was jimmy carter’s stupidest idea.

I’m guessing that the rank and file bureaucrats know there is no honest brokers at the top of the totem pole to report to.

Blowing the whistle is the death of their careers.

The entire SES should be summarily fired.
They’re just too “clever” for government service.

Once again, President Trump masterfully uses ACTIONS to give the lie to Democrat talking points. It will be a tough sell for the media and Democrats to call the administration’s response “uncoordinated” and “incompetent” when he is able to point to concrete actions, beginning well before the sheep began bleating, and escalating to what is in effect a nationalization of medical equipment manufacturers to insure adequate supplies of the devices needed to treat and prevent coronavirus.

Not that it will stop the determined stupidity and willful ignorance of the Mamets of the world: But reasonable people will see the talking points for what they are: Propaganda.

All these preparations, re: masks etc., will be for naught unless and until we move pharmaceutical manufacturing back to the U.S.

The basic chemicals used to produce pharmaceuticals are all made in China, and 80+% of the actual drugs are all produced in China, including penicillin, aspirin, and even Vitamin C. Without the basics, respirator mask or Nylex gowns are not worth much.

The general idea of creating rethought emergency response powers and policy to direct immediate manufacturing of key medical supplies domestically is a rock-solid idea.

Any rock solid idea can get buried under pigeon dung, submerged in a pig trough, or rendered unusable by corrupt or incompetent stewardship.

It takes an industry made healthy in a free market with meaningful access to capital.

    • glissmeister says:

Essential: an industry made healthy in a free market with meaningful access to capital.

This ain’t likely gonna come from the likes of the Gates Foundation, Soros-Clinton, WHO, and other NGOs that form the unelected oligarchy strangulating public health, medical science and public health policy.

Philanthropic capitalism is a predator state of oligarchy, tyrancy and cartelization.

In 2008, the WHO’s former head of the malaria program, Dr. Artara Kochi, raised serious concerns about the Gates Foundation undermining scientific creativity that “could have implicitly dangerous consequences on the policy making process in world health.”

Dr Kochi went on to state:

“Gates has created a ‘cartel,’ with research leaders linked so closely that each has a vested interest to safeguard the work of others. The result is that obtaining an independent review of scientific evidence (…) is becoming increasingly difficult.”

These comments should terrify all of us; e.g., the undermining of scientific creativity.

These people and their zombie NGO entities are not the cure. They are the disease.

  15. atomichillbilly says:

That’s a great first step, but Trump should be prepared to go much further.

The pandemic is most likely going to cause a global economic meltdown of epic proportions, and Trump should be ready to force a nationwide effort to bolster the domestic manufacturing capacity to fill the needs of THIS country. Massive investment in America’s industry.

    Reverse globalism.

When the global economy melts down, everyone will park their money in the safest place: Trump’s America.

China will be toast and America can call the shots on the global recovery.

This list looks like a bunch of deep staters whose interests most likely don’t perfectly align with the average American. The American economy must be protected for the sake of the average American worker. We can’t allow markets to collapse and panic to set in when no American has died and infection rates are very low.

    • atomichillbilly says:

Trump can turn the tables on them by declaring that the supply chain needs to be in America for national security reasons.

If he plays his cards right (in the middle of a global economic meltdown), America will become the safest place to park your money, and American industries can be revitalized with globalist money.

The globalists will be furious, but they aren’t going to risk their own money just to stop Trump. They’re too greedy for that.

  17. glissmeister says:

In this world “Deep Staters” means sycophants of this oligarchy; i.e., Gates, Clinton, Rockefeller, Soros NGOs and Foundations rule the roost. They have tentacles into everything vaccine and public health. Worldwide. From the grant making politicians and governments of the world to the grant sucking universities doing their bidding. Medicine’s equivalent of the Weimar Republic.

Per Dr. Kochi: “Gates has created a ‘cartel,’ with research leaders linked so closely that each has a vested interest to safeguard the work of others. The result is that obtaining an independent review of scientific evidence (…) is becoming increasingly difficult.”

The impact of so much drug company money coursing through the veins of Congress is often incremental or largely unseen by the American public, such as the industry’s efforts to block competitors in India from making generic versions of HIV/Aids medicines that are more affordable to developing countries
But for Congress, the process was nothing unusual. Hundreds of millions of dollars flow to lobbyists and politicians on Capitol Hill each year to shape laws and policies that keep drug company profits growing. The pharmaceutical industry, which has about two lobbyists for every member of Congress, spent $152m on influencing legislation in 2016, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Drug companies also contributed more than $20m directly to political campaigns last year. About 60% went to Republicans. Paul Ryan, the speaker of the House of Representatives, was the single largest beneficiary, with donations from the industry totaling $228,670.

I’m going to start following the money…There are trillions at stake.

He should have named this lady as the head:

From her Amazon page for her bestseller China Rx:

“Rosemary Gibson has been credited with creating national movements for safer, more humane health care. Her first book, Wall of Silence, with co-author Janardan Prasad Singh, put a human face on medical mistakes, launching a national campaign to improve the safety of America’s health care. Gibson worked with Bill Moyers on the PBS documentary On Our Own Terms. She is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is also the founding editor of a narrative series in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Internal Medicine. She is senior advisor at the Hastings Center and the 2014 winner of the highest honor from the American Medical Writers Association. She is also the author, with Janardan P. Singh, of three other books on health care.”

I saw her interview and it was stunning. She KNOWS her stuff, the risks, the economics of this “China is the end and and be all of Rx manufacturing” stupidity. I would trust a noted researcher published in JAMA more than some random AIDS doctor.

  20. Raquel says:

“We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” – Winston Churchill Really applies in this situation. I remember the swine flu thing when the government has us all getting vaccine shots. I remember my doctor back then telling me it was all politics.

There could be a silver lining in all this. Trump can and I believe is pushing for our medicines to be made in this country rather than most of it being made in China. Another plus is that there is a serious reason for shutting down the border. Let the president use their panic as an excuse for his border agenda. Hopefully this situation will shut down some of his opponents on this issue. Plus it’s another opportunity to push self sufficiency in manufacturing on many levels for this country.

On the subject of this article is the appointment of Birx. I’m questioning who it was that actually appointed this woman to the post. Was it Trump or Pence? Sundance stated that she is bureaucratically deep state. I’m still not totally trusting Pence when it comes to the deep state, and I’m an evangelical Christian. He has a history in congress and I believe with a milktoast approach in the past.
