President Trump Hosts Oval Office Meeting With Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – Video and Transcript…

Earlier today President Donald Trump hosted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a bilateral discussion.  Prior to their meeting the leaders held a press availability in the oval office, outlining plans for a mid-east peace agreement.[Video and Transcript Below]

[Transcript] – PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, thank you very much. It’s an honor to have Prime Minister Netanyahu, a great friend of mine and a great friend of our country. We’ve had a tremendous almost three-year relationship. I’ve known you many years before that, but this was three years of primetime, and we’ve done a lot for Israel. And the relationship, I think, has never been better.

We’re going to be discussing Mideast peace. We’re going to be announcing a plan tomorrow at 12 o’clock. And that’s a plan that Bibi and his opponent, I must say, have to like very much. And I can say, in terms of Bibi, he does. And I think in terms of his opponent, he does too. I’ll be meeting with him in a little while.

But this is a plan that’s very important to peace in the Middle East. No matter where I went, they say, “Israel and the Palestinians, they have to make peace before you can really have peace in the Middle East.”

So people have been working on this for many, many years, and I think we’re relatively close, but we have to get other people to agree with it also.

I will say, many of the Arab nations have agreed to it. They like it. They think it’s great. They think it’s a big start. I think it’s a big start too. I think it’s a fantastic thing if we can pull it off. They say it’s probably the most difficult deal anywhere and of any kind to make.

In the business world — when I was back in the business world, when a deal was tough, people would jokingly refer to it as, “This is tougher than Israel and the Palestinians getting together.” And that’s what I’ve heard all my life, and so we’ll see what happens. We have something that makes a lot of sense for everybody.

And we appreciate you being here, Mr. Prime Minister. Great job you do. Thank you. Thank you very much.

PRIME MINISTER NETANYAHU: Thank you. Thank you. Mr. President, I just want to say two things: First, that the deal of the century is the opportunity of the century, and we’re not going to pass it by. And we’ll talk about that tomorrow.

Today, I repeat, I just want to say thank you for everything you’ve done for the State of Israel. You’ve been the greatest friend that Israel has had in the White House, and I think tomorrow we can continue making history.

Thank you, Mr. President.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Good. I look forward to it. Thank you very much.

Q Mr. President, did you speak to the Palestinians about your plan to the Palestinian President? Because there are reports that he refused to take your call.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: We will be reporting on that tomorrow. It’s something they should want. They probably won’t want it initially, but I think in the end they will. I think in the end, they’re going to want it. It’s very good for them. In fact, it’s overly good to them. So we’ll see what happens. Now, without them, we don’t do the deal and that’s okay. They’re not living well.

As you know, we cut off aid to Palestinians, and something I don’t like to do, but we did that. And we think that there’s a very good chance that they’re going to want this. I would say their initial — just as great negotiators — and they’re great negotiators. Their initial response — and I have no idea what they’re going to say — would be, “Oh, we don’t want anything.” But in the meantime, they’ll be negotiating. So let’s see how it works.

So, tomorrow, at 12 o’clock, we’ll be announcing a plan, and it’s a very big plan. It will be a suggestion between Israel and the Palestinians. It’s the closest it’s ever come, and we’ll see what happens. We have the support of the Prime Minister. We have the support of the other parties. And we think we will ultimately have the support of the Palestinians. But we’re going to see. And if we do, it’ll be a tremendous tribute to everybody. And if we don’t, life goes on.

Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you.

Q Mr. President, what about the Bolton allegations ?

Q False?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Totally false.

It pains me somewhat to say this, but Netanyahu has outlived his usefulness as prime minister. He should just gracefully give it up. Israel needs term limits.

I didn’t realize we were so close to a deal. Any early hints as to what it is? IMO it’s been the most closely held secret since the manhattan project…

    • rrick says:

I think it has a repudiation of the British Mandate the at it’s core.

The timing is very critical since there have been the recurring elections and more which had prime importance. Even now, there is a lot on the table for the Prime Minister.

  3. rrick says:

Is President Trump’s peace plan a bridge too far for PM Netanyahu?

“Despite the looming charges, Netanyahu believes that he is by far the most qualified to handle Israel’s complex economic, security, and diplomatic challenges in the years ahead, which include: defending against an Iranian regime that is illegally pursuing nuclear weapons and destabilizing Israel’s Middle Eastern neighbors, including Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza; further developing relations with world leaders including India, China, and Russia—which is also active in Syria; and taking full advantage of a U.S. administration that is not encumbered by the strategic processes of previous administrations.”

This on top of the criminal indictments in the Knesset.

My personal opinion of any peace plan is it is a dire fulfillment of prophecy of the end times.

Those indictments are as valid as articles of impeachment against our President.

Absolutely true. Still, they are a distraction just like this clown show in Congress.

A distraction for the mentally challenged. Anyone with functioning brain cells sees and knows this shampeachment is a total insane absurd govna show. This is a waste of the American people’s taxpayers money, while those corrupt evil politicians on both sides are sitting back laughing and saying “wow another vacation” while they do nothing for the People. I am surprised that with your 2nd amendment right you don’t marsh to Washington and stop this BS. Hey even for us not involved it is getting exhausting, no one believes or pays attention, except for saying they are all nuts in the government. One look at Bozo’s and Bimbos should tell the story.God Bless PDJT and I like and respect PM Netanyahu.

Trump also extended an invite to the leader of the party in opposition to Netanyahu.

This offer is not predicated on him. This plan has been in the making for years.

It is baffling to me this event would be met with the retreading of a political hit job.

The two leaders appear to have good working relationship. I have no doubt that the proposed Plan presented tomorrow will be a creative and very reasonable compromise that the usual purists and extremists on either side will nonetheless condemn with vitriolic fervor.

But, all that speculation aside…….we’ll see what happens. 🙂

PTrump and his team have devoted three years to this endeavor. Anything they’ve put so much effort into has to be as good as it gets.
      Not perfect, but optimal.

Whether any kind of peace there is possible (before Judgement Day), who knows?

    • Maquis says:

Can hardly wait to see what happens!

  5. Jeffrey says:

why is Trump doing the triangle thing with his hands?

    • babrightlight says:

      Ha! It’s an inverted triangle–the anti-illuminati.

    • old45model says:

Perhaps he learned a long time ago that it is pointless to wave your hands in the air when you are talking to someone on the ‘phone? Perhaps that has carried over into his everyday life? Why wave your hands around as if you are suddenly going to get lift off – the person on the other end can’t see you!
I guess he only uses gestures to emphasise a point.
Ever watched news readers fighting to control their hands? Sometimes it is hilarious.

“Why does the world commemorate the Holocaust on this date given that neither Israel nor the Jewish diaspora, the only preeminent stakeholders with the never-dried eyes over the eternally open wound do so?

A free date on the UN calendar?

Not exactly. As with all things commemorated, the chosen date (January 27th) has something to do with those doing the commemorating and a bit less with those who are being commemorated.

13 Death camps, 356 starvation ghettos and countless forced labour camps in Poland, USSR, the Baltic States, Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Hungary were run by the Nazis between 1939 and 1945 to annihilate anyone with 1/16 Jewish bloodline or more. All in the spirit of “Final Solution” first laid out ever-so-tidily in the enlightened head of German composer, Richard Wagner.”

  7. hawkins6 says:

I liked the way the President waved the unruly ornery media out of the room with a right handed swipe. I’m sure he wanted to add “Get them out!’

This visit by PM Netanyahu and the proposal could be a major event in history (or not) but the majority of the media won’t be distracted from Bolton questions for any other issue.

  8. nimrodman says:

Posted this on the Presidential Thread but I reckon it’s related to the US-Israel topic here:
Obama’s traitorous anti-American and anti-Israel actions caused the US Military to skip a generation of advanced missiles and instead purchase from the Israelis to replace Hellfires.

U.S. Army Purchases Israeli Spike NLOS Missiles
How Obama’s perfidy led to the marriage of an Israeli missile with an American gunship.

“The United States Army announced that it will purchase the Israeli Spike Non-Line-Of-Sight missile (NLOS) for its fleet of AH-64 Apache attack helicopters … as an interim solution for a missile with greater standoff capabilities.

“The “Non-Line-Of-Sight” is a reference to the Spike’s “over the horizon” capabilities, which enables the missile to engage an enemy target through indirect, standoff positions. This feature, along with the Spike’s range makes the pilot much less vulnerable to air defense systems, including anti-aircraft missiles and anti-aircraft artillery.

“The genesis of the pairing of the Spike NLOS to the AH-64 Apache began in the summer of 2014 during Operation Protective Edge. Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were firing hundreds of rockets at Israel and trying to infiltrate Israel through a network tunnels originating from Gaza.

“Israel meticulously limited collateral damage by utilizing precision weapons. Among the precision weapons employed by Israel was the Hellfire. Israel’s Hellfire attrition rate was high and so the Israelis turned to the Pentagon and military-to-military channels to resupply their depleted Hellfire stocks.

“The Pentagon obliged but once Barack Obama caught wind of what was going on, he suspended the transfer of missiles. This was part of the Obama administration’s orchestrated plot to undermine Israel in time of war and exert maximum pressure on the Jewish State to accept a cease fire agreement, with terms dictated by Hamas, Turkey and Qatar.

“… following the campaign, appropriate lessons were drawn. Israel understood that it could not rely on the illogical whims of an unreliable president and decided that it would find a replacement for the Hellfire.”

To question the president about Bolton allegations when a two state solution with an actual map in waiting explains why the majority of Americans have come to not only dislike, but to despise the media.

  11. RJ says:

The key take away phrase: “Life goes on.”

All one has to do is look at the land the Palestinians control versus that of Israel. See what the labors of each group have designed and developed. See who teaches their children to hate and who teaches them to love. It is that simple. Count the years available to both.

I’ll bet the Palestinians will “cut off their noses to spite their faces” when this new attempt at peace is presented.
