White House Confirms Impeachment Defense Team: Pat Cipollone, Jay Sekulow, Michael Purpura and Patrick Philbin…

Earlier today the White House confirmed the impeachment defense team led by White House Counsel Pat Cipollone.   Joining Cipollone is President Trump’s personal attorney Jay Sekulow and White House Deputy Attorneys Michael Purpura and Patrick Philbin.

Additionally, constitutional lawyer Alan Dershowitz may also work in an advisory capacity with the four member legal team.

  1. Jay Sekulow is the only one I’d trust…..The rest seem to be 2nd or 3rd stringers……

Welp, abandon all hope for any justice for Epstein’s victims. After what Deshowitz has been accused of, POTUS shouldn’t let him within 100 miles of him. And, no, I don’t care what kind of legal scholar he is, and I don’t believe he’s innocent.

IMO You’re starting to sound like a “Liberal” Democrat – guilty until he can prove himself innocent!

      No thanks!

Dershowitz IS the Liberal Democrat. He has long time associations with a rogue’s gallery of Dem power players, including Epstein. Headscratcher, and it looks bad. If you don’t believe what Virginia Roberts alleges about him, why believe Epstein did anything? Guess Bill Clinton is innocent too and Hillary. I’m not trying anyone in court. My opinion is what it is. Smells like POTUS is a total captive to bad advisers.

Dershowitz has been a defender of Trump’s civil liberties on principal and the left has paid him back for it with this smear about involvement with an Epstein girl. He does not seem the type and his protestation of innocence has the panicked air of a man hit by a sucker punch accusation, out of nowhere, IMO.

In his book “Guilt by Accusation, The Challenge of Proving Innocence in the Age of #MeToo””, Dershowitz makes a strong case that the charges by Virginia Roberts were in fact fabricated by her gutter-law counsel (including David Boies) to shake down billionaire Victoria’s Secret owner Leslie Wexner.

So far, anyway, I am not aware of anybody challenging Dershowitz’s version of events.

Although things can change: it is quite remarkable that a Hillary-loving civil libertarian law professor at an elite Ivy League school would remain true to his principles and defend our President against the Democrats’ unprecedented unconstitutional attacks.

Both Dershowitz & Turley have said this is an unconstitutional impeachment. In addition, Victor Hanson tonight says it looks like this will now be happening whenever the WH is controlled by one party & the House is controlled by the other. That’s not what our founders or We The People want.

Besides if anyone knows about being deemed guilty before you prove your innocence, it’s Dershowitz. He’s the only civil liberties lawyer left.

Perhaps Dershowitz might persuade a Dem Senator or two to be honest, at least on this one.

He is not a member of the defense team. He is a Constitutional scholar and can be expected to advise on Constitutional questions that are sure to arise.

It sounds like you may have a bad case of the guilty until he proves himself innocent malady. It seems to be contagious. Been hanging out with democrats lately?

They should just read the letter Cipollone wrote from Trump to Pelosi last month. There’s your opening statement, lol.

Will be interesting to see if they go for the roots of the impeachment -Biden’s pay for play and the fake whistleblower report that started all this. I feel like the lawyers orchestrating these coups need to feel the sword of Damocles over their necks. Too many of these Lawfare clowns operate in the shadows.

The opening statement should consist of playing the recordings of:
      1. Schiff speaking with what he thought was a Russian agent “with contacts to Putin” about getting pictures and videos of Trump naked with prostitutes; and
      2. Joe Biden bragging about getting the Ukraine prosecutor fired who was investigating his son and his son’s Ukraine company.
      3. Trump’s July call with the leader of Ukraine.

I really like Cipollone and Jay Sekulow, and I am sure the other two are also good. However, is it just me, or does anyone else feel a bit uneasy that the President’s lawyers will be exposed out in the open like this. I like it when they are working behind the scenes away from the corrupt Dems and media. They are too valuable to the President. I have no doubt that they will do a fantastic job defending POTUS. What I am concerned about is the next thing you know, the media or the Dems or Lawfare will being going after them like they did to Trump’s Dr., Ronny Jackson, with some bogus attack. Jackson ended up leaving his post over it.

It is time for them to take the stage and fight. The other side flinging lies and innuendo is just a matter of fact that will happen under any circumstance. I am sure they are fully aware of their opposition’s tactics. Our side gets to throw the punches now and the Dems and Lawfare should be worried about us.

Looks like “real lawyers” to me versus the House “political lawyers.” Interesting they named them before the Dems named the House managers. I expect the emphasis will be on constitutional law and evidence (of which there is little if any) and not hearsay (of which there is a lot.

The American people are really the jury here.

Devin Nunes was just on Laura Ingraham. He brought Mary McCord into the conversation and Laura shut him down with something stupid about the Russian guys that worked for Rudy. He never got to get back into where he was going with the Mary McCord info.

Laura, you must be REALLY STUPID not to want to break news on your program! Shut up once in awhile and let your guests speak! You might actually learn something!

If I were President Trumps Team I would bring in Jordan, Ratcliff and others as witnesses to give witness as to what happened in the house hearings behind closed doors. Also I would have them verify to the fact that the President was deprived of his Constitutional rights to have representation at the hearings

However, if the Dems select those same lawfare lawyers they used in the House impeachment hearings then Trump’s team will run circles around them.

Legitimizing this sham of an impeachment is so destructive to our country, I am disgusted by all those yapping about a “fair” trial.
    Really?
There sure is nothing fair about an ongoing coup and impeaching a President for trying to stop the coup.
What could make me think this trial will be “fair”?

What you say is true. But without a trial, the public hears only the articles of impeachment. That is only half the story. The other half, President Trump’s rebuttal, or defense, against the charges needs to be heard, too.

Not that this is a fatal mistake but seems like McConnell’s suggested team and process rather than Trump. We know who has better instincts.

I have a longer darker memory of Laura Ingraham, and that was when she, Acid-Ann Coulter, and Chris Christie ganged up on Sarah Palin to take her down before she could declare candidacy (after her marvelous bus tour and her Great Alaska e-mail media crunch.) They did this to help Oromney. Some things ought never be forgotten.
