President Trump on DOJ/FBI in 2016: “It was a set-up” … “I would say that President Obama had to know about it”…

President Donald Trump granted a three-day exclusive and extensive interview to ABC News ¹propagandist, and narrative engineer, George Stephanopoulos.

[¹You might remember Stephanopoulos was actually deployed by the DNC in 2012 to ask GOP primary candidates in an ABC debate about the constitutionality of requiring insurance companies to pay for birth control pills. A totally out of left-field goofy question that no-one understood until two-days later when the DNC trotted out Sandra Fluke]

Well, here’s Stephanopoulos again, somehow granted access (likely by a person inside the White House coordinating with Nancy Pelosi). The final broadcast will be heavily edited, manipulated and presented for distribution and maximum political damage; with the intent to assist Nancy Pelosi and the impeachment narrative at 8:00pm this evening.

In an effort to gain maximum publicity ABC has released some preview segments to stimulate interest by a national audience.

.

[Transcript at 10:38President Trump: “It’s very simple; very simple.  There was no crime. There was no collusion. The big thing is collusion. Now, there’s no collusion. That means they set — it was a setup. In my opinion, and I think it’s going to come out.”

Stephanopoulos: “Who set it up?”

President Trump:  “We’re going to find out very soon, because I really believe it’s going to come out.  When you look at Strzok, these FBI guys that were low-lifes. When you look at – because the FBI’s the greatest- but these top people were absolute low-lifes. When you look at Strzok and Page, and they’re talking about an insurance policy ‘just in case she loses’, that was the insurance policy.”

Stephanopoulos: “You know I’ve heard you talk about”…

President Trump: “George, I went through the insurance policy.”

Stephanopoulos: “I understand that, but if they were determined to prevent you from becoming president, why wouldn’t they leak it before hand?”

President Trump: “You’d have to ask them.”…

Stephanopoulos: “Have it come out before the election”..

President Trump: “Oh, they tried.  They tried – and you know what, had that gone out before the election, I don’t think I could have – I don’t think I would have hand enough time – to defend myself.”

Stephanopoulos: “You clearly believe there was a group of people working against you. Do you think President Obama was behind it?”

President Trump: “I would say that he certainly must have known about it because it went very high up in the chain. But you’re going to find that out. I’m not going to make that statement quite yet. But I would say that President Obama had to know about it.”

.

Reminder:

George Stephanopoulos always operates with an agenda.  Most have forgotten a Jan ’12 New Hampshire debate when Stephanopoulos asked Mitt Romney a very carefully worded and scripted question, seeming to come out of left field, about whether states have the right to ban contraception. Exactly two weeks later Sandra Fluke and the DNC 2012 campaign attack narrative “Romney’s War On Women” began.  WATCH:

.

The 2019 version of Stephanopoulos has all the same characteristics, purposes and intents as the 2012 version of Stephanopoulos.

In 2012 he set up: “war on women”.  In 2019 he is setting up: “Trump impeachment”.

How the White House did not know that George Stephanopoulos would be used to position the Pelosi impeachment narrative is beyond my ability to comprehend.

Grandpa, definitely right. It appears to be wrong for our President but okay for democrats who now apparently want to start a new law. Good grief they are making laws that will bury them sooner than ever. Don’t forget in 2016 Judge Jeannine said she would do the same as Trump, but again she is not an Obama judge who apparently think they can away with phony non Constitutional laws. And of course big mouth with huge teeth and bug eyes Cortez has to always spout nonsense to the point that even her voters are turning against her, and she wants more pay for what? Her babbling ignorance I guess. Let those evil doers keep thinking they are right and winning when it is sooo obvious they are fighting amongst themselves in Congress further to destroy their own party. Why aren’t the 2 parties in 1 for once start working and working for us who hired them to represent us and not think they are our leaders and boss, because they ARE NOT! Harsh lessons to those in and out of Congress against our President, us and our Republic and it won’t be pretty.

I agree. And it’s no accident that the interview was granted to Stephy, the well known Clinton surrogate.* Our VSG Prez has something up his sleeve. We’ll find out what that is soon enough.

*As recently as election night 2016, you could see that Stephy had the inside track on the Clinton war room. He knew Virginia was going differently from expectations long before the other networks started sweating. Same with North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Stephy also underestimated the trouble with Michigan while the other networks gnashed their teeth over Detroit turnout. I think Stephy (with his ear on the Clinton camp) wrongly assumed that the libs were able to identify the problem in Michigan early enough to produce enough fraudulent votes for Hillary.

Trump would not have done the interview unless he had a motivation to get something out. Trump wanted more than a helicopter presser. Whether or not what Trump wanted to get across got edited out remains to be seen.

Hopefully, part of the interview deal was to have President Trump’s own cameras present too. If ABC edits out important parts, Trump would then have the whole, unedited copy that he can release. In fact, I’m having a hard time imagining an agreement to this kind of interview without his own cameras there. Remember, it was Trump’s own cameras that ended the Michelle Field’s libelous claim against Corey Lewandowski.

  2. Sundance, I believe that President Trump understands it very well. I think it’s his method of getting people to focus on the story. There are always three groups of people with every news report: 1. Those of us who are informed, entertained or encouraged; 2. Those who are going to be offended or outraged no matter what; 3. Those in the middle who are made curious and will dig deeper. In this case: did the President REALLY say he would “accept foreign assistance”. No, he didn’t. He said he would LISTEN to anyone presenting him with information.

Yes, we here who are engaged are aware of the corruption in the media, but we sometimes forget that there are large swathes of America that are not.

    • Sundance, I agree with Joe. Stephanopoulos is probably very good at pointing “dirt” at politicians, but he has no idea who he’s dealing with when it comes to Donald Trump. And, neither does Nancy Pelosi nor any of the other “radical democrats.”

This isn’t Watergate – well, it’s a thing vastly bigger than Watergate, and in reverse. This isn’t the impeachment of Bill Clinton. This isn’t anyone who has been condemned for committing any crime at all. And, when he speaks of a massive criminal conspiracy to unseat him using the powers of the United States Government, he’s speaking from a position of knowledge. And every one of the “perps” knows it.

Like moths drawn irresistibly to a flame, Radical Democrats will purge themselves from the American political future by accusing – yes, they will! – a man whom the US Justice Department says committed no(!) wrongdoing, of “high crimes.” The Democratic Party as an institution may never recover from the damage they have done … but the American people won’t care. “After all, the ‘Whig’ party disappeared, too.” It’s the 21st Century now. Life goes on – even if you don’t.

I agree Revelation. When they start saying what the Dems did was perfectly legal, he can just cue up the sound bites where they said when Trump said “he’d listen and maybe tell the FBI”, it was a high crime worthy of impeachment. He’s probably impatient with waiting for Horowitz et al to say something official and just helping the cause in his own way.

We also always have to look at what the right hand is doing while the left hand SEEMS to be giving the Dems gratuitous fodder for the hate mill. Sometimes we find out later he was creating a media distraction. I just don’t buy that someone was asleep at the switch and accidentally put the President in harm’s way with Stephanopoulos.

They are not all CEO’s, politicians, and movie star, and most of them are not under the influence of propaganda professors. If POTUS did a three day interview with Hannity or Shannon Bream or anyone else who is not a known mascot for the Left it would be hate watched by a few hard core lefties who would reflexively discount everything he says. By doing the interview with their guy, it is guaranteed to be seen by a much wider audience. Perhaps this is a way of ‘softening the battlefield’ by introducing the concept to the maximum number of voters.

George is a slime ball democrat who is nothing close to be a journalist. He used to take medication for depression and the gift from his mentor family, the Clintons, was the job at ABC where is now a comfy millionaire. Trumps’ self belief that George would not trap him was a foolish move on his part, only supported by what the President believes will be the “truths” coming out in the following months prior to the next major election that will vindicate him and transfer the guilt to the democrats and their buds in Washington. Even allowing George to tower over him in the video shots was a dumb move…unless the President has in mind a “major smack down” that will take place for people like George, Acosta, etc.

I don’t like this type of decision making, it is too tricky a gamble, playing too close to the edge. That’s laughable. And somehow Trump allows this to happen over 3 days cause someone is working with Nancy in the WH? lol

Trump wants these and thrives of the controversy it creates. He takes the energy they create and turns it around.

I’m always dumbfounded at people assuming Trump is naive or somehow played by the media lol
The most “boring” Trump interviews are with Hannity F&F and co. but whenever he faces Fake news he excels.

Sure he could make no interview with anyone on the left or mainstream. Preaching to the choir where everyone knows the notes.
If he would do that he wouldn’t be Donald Trump. He wouldn’t be President.

If we think that to the end it would mean we should never go into any discussion. Should only talk to our kind and huddle together in face of the mean world out there.
No, there are are a lot of people out there waking up everyday. That’s why I keep going back to twitter and co.
“The left” is a few people. The rest are sleepers waiting for a wake up call.

PDJT is a brilliant tactician and strategist. Look carefully at the transcript to see the gambit.
    Paraphrased:
GS: Did Obama know about it?
PDJT: I would suppose so cause it went very high up the chain. You are going to find out soon.

Now, PDJT knows this whole thing will be edited and spun against him. The ‘I would probably both listen and report to FBI’ statement already was.
So how will this ‘Obama probably knew’ thing be spun? Trump crazy paranoia over spying. Pelosi Dem line (already out there) if spying happened then was justified. If Barr decides not justified, (a) Barr is a PDJT tool and (b) just a rogue Strzok or two. NOT Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Rice, Obama….

PDJT already knows what really happened. He probably knows not only the rough content but also the rough timing of IG Horowitz FISA report, and Nunes criminal referrals, and of Durham’s coming indictments. IMO PDJT wants the negative Pelosi spin out big and bold and extreme there BEFORE the Horowitz and Durham hammers drop. That way, exposes unequivocally the Pelosi PDJT animus and bias when the hammers do drop. Then at every rally he uses that exposure to argue for taking back the House in a landslide. Stephanopoulos’ known behavior makes GS an ideal press pawn to play in this masterful PR gambit.

Of course the editing is scummy to the max…those that are leftist will be confirmed in their beliefs, those of us that support Pres.Trump won’t be moved. Views of independents are the key point. POTUS vigorously argues his points clearly and without any admission of any guilt–phony crime, prosecutors that “hated Trump”, no collusion, 1.5MM pages of docs, no exec privilege, etc. etc. Top people crooked.

      From Sundance’s article yesterday:

‘President Trump Outwits Chairman Xi Jinping Ahead of G20 Summit…’

President Trump has taken the leverage of economics to levels of geopolitical strategy never seen before. Nowhere is the genius strategy more clear than in the way Trump has positioned the trade reset and confrontation with China.

In hindsight every move since early 2017 including: (1) the warm welcome of Chairman Xi Jinping to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate; (2) the vociferous praise poured upon Xi; (3) the November 2017 tour of Asia; (4) the direct engagement with North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un; the strategic relationship with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe; and a host of smaller nuanced moves have been quietly building toward a conclusion.

The upcoming G-20 summit is the last chance for Trump and Xi to reconcile considerable differences and President Trump has the strongest strategic position any Chinese official has ever faced.

  33. Sen. Mark Warner could end up the biggest casualty of the Step-on-over-us interview especially after his own NPR interview later in the week. Let’s not forget as POTUS’ Friday tweet alluded, Warner attempted to set up a meeting ‘without paper trail’ and on foreign soil with Russian Ambassador Oleg Deripaska via Where-in-the-world-is-Waldman.

Why do I say Ambassador Deripaska? Because by the admission of our very own Department of Treasury press release (Office of Foreign Assets Control), Deripaska is known to carry a Russian diplomatic passport and perceives no separation between himself and the Russian state i.e. State Actor, as opposed to the 13 Russian spoofers whose only crime was to be indicted (and of course to be Russian nationals) so that Rosenstein could get the deceased Parkland kids out of the news cycle on a Friday.

Of course their PR indictments could never get a day in court. They had served their purpose: putting ‘Russia’ back in bogus play in the Mueller bogus investigation.

    https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sm0338

Of course mention by Warner and Waldman of ‘ur guy’ (itself an admission of the sensitivity of the individual being discussed) has been speculated by TCH as being Deripaska. In the context of the Manafort mention just prior, who else could it be? Not Steele. Not Assange.

Supposition admittedly. But it feels right. Anyway, Happy Dad’s Day to Warner from POTUS especially since Don Jr. had been dragged in earlier in the week to testify before SSCI. Take that!

He is not invincible, but he has had wolves unsuccessfully nipping at his heels for many decades.

I suspect that President Donald J. Trump has started the “But I would say that President Obama had to know about it” fire as a means to set the rats in motion and, thus, exposing them to a greater chance of exposure. Recall that Sandy Burglar smuggled documents out of the National Archives in his socks in order to protect President Clinton. President Donald J. I would have done the interview, but maybe about 2 months from now when the Nadler-Schiff-Pelosi nonsense has lost more steam.

The Cohen testimony gambit failed to stir support for impeachment. The John Dean testimony similarly failed, as did the poorly-attended astroturfed impeachment rallies this weekend.

With things looking bleak for impeachment, the last thing you want to do is give a juicy “foreign dirt” quote in response to a Stephy set-up question.

That said, I don’t think this is a fatal flaw. But it would have been nice to just starve the beast here, rather than feed it when it’s on the way out.

Every candidate that ran for the president of the United States in 2008 was Constitutionally-ineligible. None were natural born Citizens.

So who is advising him on all this? Does George ring him up and say, hey, can we do this because it will give you a chance to reach OUR readers, and Trump falls for it? It is not off subject to find Trump suddenly realising that TREASON is now becoming a regular occurrence in his house. NYT, are they stirring the pussy (getting Trump to blow for fun) or is it real and they are trying to show how impotent he is – in the face of the Neocons and traitors amidst his top team? Read it through and ask you if this is a president well advised or a president being lied to by the closest of the close. Its a disgrace. Who will serve the president? He needs to stop delegating so flippantly, and start researching his own choices I feel. Or Barr has to expand his work to cover the entire bureaucracy of Washington et al.

Heika — I am praying hard that Trump is correct and the NYT is, as usual, promoting fake news… but what do I know?

What I do sense strongly, though, is that whoever would risk starting a war between the United States and Russia for political purposes, will definitely deserve their place on the gallows and their personal noose.

Keep in mind, I am a person who is sort of “on the fence” about capitol punishment, and I’m not eager to kill under any circumstances, even violent criminals, the thought doesn’t appeal to me…

….but if this NYT “news” is proven treachery that could kill millions, there are some traitors who not only need to lose their job, but death as logical consequence for the crime, would not be inappropriate

I took ‘radical left began impeachment’ as double meaning when I saw it. I felt like POTUS was including his GS interview.

Haha, that was a MoveOn initiative. Big FAIL!

What’s super ironic is that MoveOn was founded to combat the impeachment of Bill Clinton. 🙂

  45. This is the first public interview where Trump has explicitly named his predecessor as being part of what happened to him – and of course he knows full well what this is going to cause both the Press and his opponents to do. Indeed, I do believe that he is now intentionally stoking the fire.

Trump, being the President, knows better than anyone exactly where the criminal investigations stand. He also knows how to very-carefully choose what he does and does not say. “You’re going to find that out. I’m not going to say just yet.”

    Brilliant.

There was 1,001 contacts with the Trump campaign and Russia and no evidence of conspiracy. That is the definition of “no collusion.” This guy is trying to keep stupid people stupid. There’s a theme on the left like this.

  48. I see it like Sundance; why in the world would he give an interview to Stephanopoulis, a known Clinton friend and absolute friend willing to do the bidding of the DNC.? I just don’t get it at all. I see it as a huge mistake. Does he have no one to give him solid trustworthy advice? I hope I don’t hear that Ivanka told him it was a good idea.

However, I also know that in the past I have cringed at some of the things Trump has said and thought oh, this is a huge mistake, but he ends up pulling out of it and being a winner.

I don’t know about this one….really bad idea., imo.

It’s funny how people answer their own question but like the Dems in the end don’t get it.
You don’t get more votes by reaching out to your base but by reaching out to others. The reach ABC News has is far more and far different than any cable station.

President Trump says of SpyGate, “It was a setup” and now he’s setting them up. He’s putting it out there as he does repeatedly and effectively by foreshadowing what is coming.

Yet so many here don’t seem to notice or see this pattern. On the first Saturday of March 2017, President Trump pointed the spying finger right at Obama and the DNC Media went bananas. They all said he had no evidence.

      Well, how’s that working out?

If you don’t have the answer, then listen to President Trump once again. Watch as many times as needed until the documentary evidence is made available.

IMHO, it’s time people started to figure out the obvious.

This will either create false narratives for the prog state controlled media to continuously run til election day, or give Trump the upper hand to expose the fake media for what it is…..if he plays it right.

Unfortunately ABC’s audience are mostly leftists that hate Trump anyway. Persuading them to change their minds about him is an exercise in futility, so I think that the false narratives will predominate.

I disagree. There are a lot of regular citizens who tune in after work to get a glimpse of the nightly news. This interview will reach those people who might never watch a speech of his otherwise. I think this is a good move. Trump will be selectively edited, misquoted, and he will have fodder to bash them even more and push more facts on a lot of voters he wouldn’t get in front of otherwise.
