Finally – Candidate Donald Trump Proposes Reevaluating U.S. Position With NATO…

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Trump hugs a U.S. flag as he takes the stage for a campaign town hall meeting in DerryOne of the best outcomes from ‘Trump-Goes-To-Washington‘ today was candidate Donald Trump being the leader who finally brings the U.S. – NATO relationship to the discussion table.

The subject was relayed by the Washington Post who also had an hour-long editorial board sit down with Mr. Trump as he visited various DC-based influence agents:

[…]   [Trump] questioned the United States’ continued involvement in NATO and, on the subject of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, said America’s allies are “not doing anything.”

“Ukraine is a country that affects us far less than it affects other countries in NATO, and yet we’re doing all of the lifting,” Trump said. “They’re not doing anything. And I say: ‘Why is it that Germany’s not dealing with NATO on Ukraine? Why is it that other countries that are in the vicinity of Ukraine, why aren’t they dealing? Why are we always the one that’s leading, potentially the third world war with Russia.’ “

Trump said that U.S. involvement in NATO may need to be significantly diminished in the coming years, breaking with nearly seven decades of consensus in Washington. “We certainly can’t afford to do this anymore,” Trump said, adding later, “NATO is costing us a fortune, and yes, we’re protecting Europe with NATO, but we’re spending a lot of money.” (more)

For far too long NATO has been a one nation effort relying on the U.S. to do everything while 28 member countries, sans Canada, sit on their hands, pontificate and take advantage of our strategic military strength.   The conflict in Ukraine and Germany’s do-nothing position is only one brutally obvious example.

Turkey (Recep Erdogan) being a member of NATO, demanding the protection afforded therein, and yet refusing to allow NATO launch operations (air strikes) from Turkish NATO bases, is yet another more insufferable example.

In the past four administrations (Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama) specifically, NATO has become nothing more than a deployment force of Western Politicians, including European politicians, who use the U.S. military as some form of global military police.

Cameron and SarkozyEngland (Cameron), France (Sarkozy now Hollande), Germany (Merkel), Italy (Renzi), are notorious NATO alarm bell ringers, yet they quick run to the exits when they are requested to put their own lives and/or national finances on the line to do the heavy lifting.

A person only needs to look at the 2011 Libyan fiasco to see how everyone demands NATO to take action, and yet does little to nothing to assist the objectives they demand.  The U.S. ends up doing over 80% of any engagement and spending almost all of the money to deliver the results.

What do we get for it?

Three years later we need to use a NATO base in Turkey and Recep Erdogan laughs in our face.  Well, that is until Turkey ‘shoot’s down’ a Russian jet flying in Northern Syria and quickly need NATO’s apron to hide behind.

Enough is Enough.

Once again candidate Donald Trump is the only candidate brave enough to state we’ve exhausted our national treasure chasing tyranny away from our allies, and defending liberty in every venue needed, while those same allies do little to nothing to help themselves.

Donald Trump isn’t saying we pull out of NATO completely, he’s merely saying the entire construct of the mutual agreement needs to be re-negotiated…

…. and we resoundingly agree.

  1. Republican’s used to be non-interventionists. I would be really happy to see us return to that way of thinking. I’m sick of nation building and protecting everyone and we can’t afford it anyway. Our Veteran’s are still getting the shaft and that’s another thing. If we can’t afford to do what’s right by them we can’t afford to stick our noses in and protect people who often hate us anyway.

Trump’s non-interventionist stance is bringing in even more people to the Trump fold.

It’s time to return to what’s best for the USA and not spending our nation’s treasures to those that don’t deserve it. The majority of European states now despise & laugh at us. No more free rides to the European Union.

Turkey’s leader did more than laugh in “our” faces, he basically blackmailed Europe, threatening even more illegal alien invasions if he was not given billions of dollars.

And he won. EU not only doubled up their original bribe of $3 BILLION, to $6 BILLION, but will now do whatever Turkey tells them to. And Turkey is still occupying Cypress despite a threat of Cypress’ veto unless Turkey pulls out. Win/win for Erdogan.

Trump is correct. When he is elected president and stops all this muslim immigration nonsense, NATO is going to howl, the Eurozone is going to howl.

The only way Europe can hope to survive is to take responsibility for its own defense and cease being vassal states of the American Empire. US troops out of Europe!

Why does the UNI PARTY and their enablers in the press try to ridicule Trump? What is it they really don’t want you to know and understand?

US vs Russia proxy war, what was once a cold war has now gone hot in both the Middle East and Europe. How do you rouse tired old Europe into rising up against Russia? Why you create a crisis that floods Europe with terrorists so they will march in lockstep to expand NATO, for their own good mind you (/s). How do you rouse anti-war American isolationists to get back on the war path? Whose oligarchs will win, the US’ or Russia’s?

US = Saudi, Turkey, et al (Sunni) VS. Russia = Iran, Syria, et al (Shia)

Why is Trump opposed to TPP, TISA, TTIP?
Why is Trump opposed to continued Muslim immigration?
Why is Trump opposed to the flooding of this nation with indigent labor?
Why is TPA Teddy focused on NATO?
What is NATOs reason for existing in the first place?
Why is the UNI PARTY viciously attacking Trump?

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-28/coherent-explanation-obamas-foreign-policy

“Foreign policy is both economic and military. An interpretation of U.S. President Barack Obama’s foreign policy will be presented here that explains both his economic and his military decisions to-date, and that shows he’s been carrying out the policies of his predecessors in office.”

“On economic matters, he has turned out to be the most ambitious ‘free-trader’ of any U.S. President: he has proposed three gigantic international-trade treaties, two with North Atlantic countries (TTIP for products and TISA for services), and one with Pacific countries (TPP), not only in order to serve America’s aristocracy at the public’s expense (an international “race-to-the-bottom” in terms of workers’ wages, and race to the top in terms of stockholders’ profits and executive pay) (like NAFTA on steroids), but in order to extend the NATO military alliance against Russia, to include now these trade treaties as a companion economic alliance against Russia (to reduce Russian trade with Russia’s biggest market, which is Europe).”
Please read the entire linked article and understand what is really happening here and why the UNI PARTY is really trying take Trump down.

Please read the entire article linked above in order to gain a fuller understanding of this US vs Russia proxy war that began under the administration of George Bush I and has continued through the Clinton, Bush II, and Obama administrations. Please read the entire article to understand that the ‘Syrian refugee crisis’ and today’s slaughter in Brussels is part and parcel of this proxy war.

High time the structure and contribution levels of NATO were re-negotiated. Once again Trump demonstrates that he is a LEADER and not a follower, and can be counted on to do what is in the best interest of the USA.

I would love to see Trump propose abolishing the VA (saving billions), and instead provide all vets with a voucher for private medical treatment. It could not help but provide a higher quality of healthcare to our deserving vets, and would probably be less expensive than keeping the VA system going.

    • I thought Trump did say that Vets would be able to go to any provider to get medical care. Not sure about abolishing VA but he is definitely in favor of Vets not having to wait to get any medical care.

The US has long helped to bankroll the socialist governments of Europe by being their defense and footing the bill for the likes of the UN and Nato. I heard today that Belgium spends only 2% of their resources on defense. It’s time for these countries to take a lesson from the US Constitution and PROVIDE for the common defense of their citizens and only PROMOTE their general welfare.

    • This is why Europe can give ‘free’ services to their citizens. They do not have to pay for national defense. WE are doing it. Screw them, it’s high time they foot their own bill. Let’s level the playing field and really show how the free market is the true way to give people freedom. Instead Odumbo is able to say that there is no difference between capitalism and socialism because we are funding European socialism.

Yeah, because the last 8 years of “lead from behind” Obama policy making has done great…look around the world today, surely the U.S. should be doing less…. Being an American isn’t simply what rock you were born on! Its a responsibility. This is the consequence of taking constitutional importance out of schools and our society in general. We forgot why we are unique…or Exceptional. We ARE the beacon on the hill, we are the path to freedom. Strong U.S. leadership, when allowed to work right without the back room agendas, works. But how many are quick to claim it never works? I bet hundreds of thousands of veterans that served in jungles or deserts all over this globe, who’ve not just fought enemies, but changed the lives of people who at the time had no futures, would disagree…this one included. Engaged, informed citizens who vote with unwaivering values and principles, is the regulation ON government that would ensure that moral compass points true North. Where have WE been, and who’s willing to answer for their lazy uninformed voting habits of the last 10, 15, 20 years? I am.
